They are doing the tracheotomy tomorrow morning on my aunt. I don't know why that scares me so, h3ll just made it through 2 open heart surgeries on an infant from far away. The tracheotomy scares me. Prayers please. I want to be there, but can't do more there than here.
Thank you,

Heather UK, have you thought of asking her if there's be a time she thinks she would be up to having you come visit? Depending on the warmth of her answer you could make plans accordingly. She may not feel up to traveling to Hove. I dread my sister friends becoming I'll, although I know it must one day come. My heart aches for you. Incidentally, if you cough when laying flat, don't lay flat. Put a pillow or two more under your upper body.
[n]Katla, [/b]it's precisely because of folks like your husband that I'm quarantined. Folks who can't take the vaccines and babies are at risk of chickenpox. We who grew up in the 40s and 50s thought nothing of it, but there are serious complications. It can be deadly, as we know now. I don't want to put anyone at risk. I had chickenpox as a kid, and both shingles shots, and still got shingles! And it hurts! I have an anti-vural to take, and I hope it helps soon.
Margaret! Those ice sculptures are magical! One of the reasons I want to be healthier us to be able to walk around displays like that!
Beth, that is SO maddening! I might expect those tactics from a low quality used car dealership, but not from a medical practice.
Vicki GI NE! so many stories about what sounds like really unfair practices! Had you written a report for them of your side of the story? Seems amazing they would pay on so little data.
Still itching a bit and hurting. Can't brush or comb the right side of my head, nor tie it up or back as I usually do. That picture of my wild hair the other day was prophecy, I guess.

Sorry to hear about the doctor/medical billing errors and bogus car insurance claims. Been there. Maybe subconsciously that's why I don't do a lot of driving anymore. That and the fear of catching a bug and bringing it home to my DH who has a suppressed immune system.
Found a cute shirt to wear to the gym:
Have a good evening, ladies. We are under a "winter storm watch" and the weatherman says we could really be in for it starting tomorrow night. Or not, lol.

It is sunny and just above freezing so some of the snow is melting but another storm is supposed to be coming through tomorrow. Boo!
Heather - Hope your friend's ending is peaceful.
Lisa - Don't forget to ice. Keeping the swelling down helps to be able to bend it and timing the pain med for 20 to 30 minutes before PT helps to make the exercises easier.
KJ - Hope you are able to get some rest.
Rori- Congrats on the new car. DD is looking for a new car and she wants heated seats and it has to be big enough to fit 2 goats in the back. I think the salesperson may get a smile out of that.
Sharon - So sorry about the shingles. I did the 1st vaccine and then got shingles twice. Have since gotten the new vaccine.4 -

Sue - I had to smile at your car that hauls goats comment. Many years ago I bought a used Subaru station wagon at a dealer in Bellevue who also sold BMW's. I knew I needed a vehicle that could easily fit a large dog crate or 2 in the back for hauling goats! The dealer kept trying to steer me to the BMW lot and I finally said OK, how many goats can I haul?
He probably thought I was Ma Kettle or Granny Clampett, lol. That little Sube hauled a lot of goats. And big dogs!

Sharon: I’ve had chicken pox and have had shingles vaccine more than once because there was an updated version available. Hopefully the shingles stay away. DH also had chickenpox but he can’t take the vaccinations. We keep our fingers crossed for him.

Same here, Katla. My 18 year old son got shingles three years ago, the day before we were driving half way across the country to move here. He was miserable. So my husband and I decided we should probable get the shingles vaccine (Both have had chickenpox). My doc told me absolutely not. I am forbidden. That means all of you have to get the vaccine to protect me and Katla's husband (only slightly joking) and other immune compromised folks.

Sharon - I'm always asking her. She has to fit so many people into her life and she tires very easily. I don't want to pressurise her. I just think it's all overwhelming right now.
We left the kids fairly early at bath time, (Edie having a melt down for some reason) and tried out a new to us Persian restaurant that people have recommended. Really good. It will become one of our go tos. Lots of Iranians there, which is a good sign!
We are back with the kids on Sunday while the parents go to an afternoon concert. My son has injured his Achilles tendon in his marathon training. Sooooooooooooo annoying for him. He has a half marathon in two weeks and was meant to be doing a long train on Sunday. He is very injury prone, but was doing so well.

For some reason my post from last night does ‘t appear to have made it. Most of it was commenting on calories and using food as fuel. Not all calories are a like as you all know. You could eat 1200 calories of junk and processed food and your body would not be fueled efficiently. You wouldn’t put bad gas in your car so why put bad food in your body? Since watching The Skinny on Fats series I have gradually changed our low fat and sugar free foods to full fat milk and cottage cheese with a result of losing a little over 3 pounds. Since I quit adding sugar or eating sugary foods, I find the real taste of food to be surprising. I agree with the comment someone made about cheat days. Eat whatever you want but make sure it is healthy for your body. This is not a diet, it is the way you live your life to the fullest.
LISA - glad you took the pain pill. Best advice my dr gave me after surgery was to take pill and not let the pain get ahead of you. If you wait and the pain is bad, you won’t move around as much and that can cause other problems.
Sorry for those of you going through difficulties right now. My motto is do the best you can everyday.

Sharon near Seattle ... so sorry you're dealing with shingles! Hope you get some relief soon!
Kylia... praying for your Aunt ...
Lanette ... LOVE the t-shirt!
Heard back from my misfit vegetable box company. They're going to send a replacement box. In regards to whether the produce was salvageable ... this was their response ... "Some of it may be salvageable but may not be "good" exactly. For example, avocados may be edible but don't tend to taste very good when they're too cold. More often than not they wind up with a cold stress injury (cut into one and you'll notice black fibers running through it)." That is kind of interesting, because avocados that I've purchased at top dollar from my grocery store often look exactly as he described!

Hello, I am Jules, 55 from the UK and am excited to get to know you all. I had 66 lbs to lose, now 64 and my goals for February are as follows;
2 x strength sessions a week.
1 x yoga class and 2 x home practice
No alcohol at home on weekdays
Drink a gallon of water a day instead
Lose 8 lbs.
Get to know some of your lovely folk.7 -
Posted earlier but was on my phone and did something funky. Who knows?
Lanette - Love the shirt! And yes you do need room for those goats. Hitching the horse trailer built for 3 horses is ridiculous for 2 goats.
Beth - Glad they are replacing your veggies.
I missed both of my water exercise classes this week due to the icy, snowy roads. Yuck!
Cheryl - DD and I bought slightly under 10 acres 3 1/2 years ago after I retired. The critters currently consist of 4 cats, 1 barn cat, 1 house cat and 2 kittens; 3 horses, 1 quarter horse mare, 1 Arab mare and 1 part Arab part quarter horse gelding; two Kinder goat wethers; and 1 labradoodle puppy.
Nessa the snow doodle.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA where she hopes the next storm is not so snowy.

Sharon, so sorry to hear about the shingles. Best wishes for a speedy recovery and an enjoyable time listening to audio books.

Heather: It is totally heartwarming to see the photo of your DH with the Grands. Thanks for sharing!
Pip: Thanks for something to think about.
Margaret: Thank you for sharing photos of the ice sculptures. Beautiful!
Vicki: Sorry about the car mishap. :flowerforyou:
Sharon: More about chicken pox--a few years ago a friend got shingles because of the chicken pox she had as a child, and I ran into her at a shop downtown today. She’s doing very well now. I’m hoping you don’t isolate yourself to the point of loneliness. (((HUGS)))
(((Kylia))) Prayers for you and your Auntie.
Lanette: I love your gym shirt. We have a storm watch, too. We have a full freezer but might run out of coffee. I think I’lll go out and get some. We can do all sorts of magic things with food in our freezers, bout only coffee will do the job of coffee. Nothing else will do. :noway: I haven’t thought of Granny Clampett in ages. Irene Ryan was a hoot. So was Ma Kettle. I don’t remember her actual name, though.
Sue: Just thinking about the comfort of goats. Will they have heated seats, too? Our dog has to make do without heated seats but we have them for our front seats in both vehicles. Nessa the snow doodle is adorable!
Jules from UK: Welcome!
My Cousin John has been sending me postcards that my Grandmother wrote before WWII. He’s sharing our family history with me, and I appreciate that. The card he sent was for Valentines Day, February 1909, and is written in German.

Let me try this again. I apparently hit the wrong button and poof it was gone!
Thank you ladies for being here! I am still nervous and worried, but also know that I can only do so much from this far away. I will continue to keep you posted on her condition as I learn of it.
My husband went with a friend after work to run some errands! YAY!!! I came home , walked, and read. I got my exercise in, steps in, and feeling a little calmer. Then I was starving! Husband not home yet so I had a tomato and havarti cheese sandwich with mayo for dinner. It was wonderful. I followed with a small dish of all natural ice cream, fresh raspberries and strawberries, a little chocolate syrup and some whipped cream. I am stuffed. Probably should have left out the ice cream........but it sounded good.
I have been reading all the posts. I use very little processed food or low fat stuffs. I don't do artificial sweeteners either as my blood sugar crashes badly with them. The only low fat I do is cottage cheese just because I prefer the texture and flavor. I did check and make sure the sodium wasn't higher than the regular. I am not a bread person most of the time so carbs aren't normally the issue, but I made keeping my fats to 40% or lower my goal for February. I may need to change that for March to making sure my proteins are over 20%. Just food for thought....
Rori- I love the heated seats in my vehicles. They feel so good on my back!
Pip- I bet you will take that right off. You are correct though that not paying attention can quickly lead to gain.
Margaret- So glad the singing lessons are going well. I love the ice sculptures! My favorite is the fairy.
Michele- I hope you have arrived safely in FL and are enjoying some warmth!
Allie- That is exciting! You could use a little pick me up!
Tracy- praying for the job for you! I hope your craft time was successful.
Beth- That is so frustrating! We have two large medical groups here, but I know areas that only have one. I miss the family doctor that knew me and my family, and took care of everything from childhood illnesses and upwards.
Vicki- The insurance companies figure it is less expensive to pay than to go to court. I had a similar experience when I was borrowing a girlfriend's honda civic. I bumped into the steel bumper of an old cadillac. I barely smudged the dirt on the Civic. He claimed he needed a new bumper based on the damage...smh! Even the slightest common sense knows that when plastic hits steel, the one that gives is the plastic. Her insurance paid for a bumper. I paid her $60 a year for 2 years because her insurance went up that amount. OH I FEEL YOU!
Carol- I hope things calm down for your son. I did that years ago, and it has been so nice to be out from under those cards. I used nothing but cash for 5 years aftewards. Now I charge no more than I can pay off each month.
Lanette- I love that shirt. Stay safe!
Sue in WA- Nessa is cute!
Sharon- Just before I got married, my mouth broke out in cold sores and my rib cage felt like it was trying to wake up like a foot that has gone to sleep. No rash, just really uncomfortable. My pharmacist told me to take L-Lysine. I don't remember the exact amount, but it cleared everything up in 2 days. I continued to take 500mg twice a day until after the wedding. Now I keep it on hand in the event that I stress out too much and start feeling tingly. I had chicken pox 3 times as a kid. I didn't get it again when my day care kids did though. By the time my granddaughter was born they had the vaccine. She got the vaccine. About 2 weeks later, she looked like she was getting eaten by fleas on her legs, then her arms, then her belly, then as that was clearing up she got a fever! She basically had a case of chicken pox in reverse. So strange! None of the other grands reacted that way. The last time I asked about the shingles vaccine, my doctor said I wasn't old enough.....He has retired, so will have to ask new doctor. Anyway, I hope you heal quickly!
The wind is picking up and the rain is coming down. My husband is still in the man cave with his friend who is trying to tell me how to run our business. I already chewed the husband out at work today. Figured I wasn't listening to someone else on the subject today. I have some ideas to help with the business, but I reckon I need the friend to explain to Steve how important a computer/business system can be He doesn't listen to me. That would so cut out on both Dana and my paperwork.
This has been long winded enough. Thank you ladies again!
Stay safe in the cold, wind, rain, and not happy weather conditions
Welcome to the new ladies! Stop in often, don't try to keep up! Chime in when you can so we can get to know you!
Hugs!
Congratulations!
Continue sharing and supporting,
Kylia

Marjorie Main played Ma Kettle. Percy McBride was Pa. Don't ask me how I remember that!! lol
Lisa so glad that you are home and taking the pain meds. They really can be a huge help! Good to hear that you are already moving the knee! Amazing that you are up and about already!
Machka, very glad to hear that you aren't broken, but the ligament/tendon/muscle strain doesn't sound like fun either! Hope you are able to heal quickly
Sharon, so sorry to hear about the shingles! Sincerely hope the anti virals work quickly!
Have been eating too much salty food, and it's showing up on the scale. Ate better today, so hopefully that will show up on the scale too!! lol
The weather is supposed to take a turn for the worse tomorrow, snow, cold, and strong winds. Should be fun...... We just aren't equipped to handle that kind of weather here, and a lot of people are even less equipped! I grew up, and learned to drive, in snow country so have no real issues with it, but a lot depends on the road conditions and what the other idiots are doing! If it were up to me, I'd just stay home but I have to work. Speaking of which, Allie and Pip, I can only hope that things settle down at your respective workplaces. Allie, such a shock to hear that Allison was a fraud. Guess it's just as well that she wasn't there for too long.
Kylia, so sorry to hear about your aunt, happy news about Baby Audrey!
Well, that's it for me for now. Battery in tablet is about to die!
Hugs for those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the newbies!
