Congrats @martaindale on the 10K PR. Awesome bling!
Congratulations on your race and overall AG place @rheddmobile!
Thank you @Scott6255, @kgirlhart, @PastorVincent. I forgot to mention, I met my goal for February with yesterday's run. This was my third month with a 30 mile goal and I made it, at 34.85 now with a couple more runs on the schedule.
Speaking of which, today is the official start of training for the 12k race in May; thankfully it starts as a rest day. I was thinking before my run yesterday how the mileage this week is so low... I mean, I was planning to run 6 miles in one day, then just 6 miles over the entire next week. I am excited to start, but even more grateful for the shorter runs this week! Right now I'm ready to bathe in icy hot, and have already spent a couple fabulous sessions with my foam roller. I also need a nap, and it's only 8am.

I have a question for the Strava users. How is someone I am not following and who is not following me, able to give me kudos on a run that is only visible to my followers? I don't know this person but she is part of the MFP Group and is following one other runner that I am.
@shanaber Other people can see your activity if you are in the same group (even if you are not official Strava buddies). If you click on the MFP group and the click on "recent activity" you can see the activity of everyone in the group.1 -

Greeting from one of my fellow run club members to another who was back with the group this weekend for the first time since coming off of a stress fracture injury: " Hey Mark, great to see you back. Did your doctor clear you to run or did you find a new doctor?" Thought you guys would appreciate it.17

@rheddmobile - Congratulations!! That race sounds brutal but fun in a masochistic way
@Sparx_81 - Whoohoo - 20km is no joke! Great job!!
@mbaker566 - So.Much.Snow!! I am impressed that you even attempted to run in all of that! The beautiful sunset does make it somewhat worth it though. Also I think it is a good thing that Speed Demon is black, otherwise you might lose him in a snowbank!
@_nikkiwolf_ - I think that was @kgirlhart who commented on the sleeves but I have them and love them too.
@amymoreorless - yep your meme pretty much identifies me. The PT asked me when it started hurting and how much running I had done after it started Hope your foot is feeling ok and the swelling is gone!
Thanks all for the Strava information. I haven't ever looked at the group activity but it makes sense. I wasn't worried about the specific person - just a little freaked about who could see my information when I thought I had it set up a specific way.2 -
I had a serious case of "lazy" last week. The only run between Sunday and Sunday was Tuesday - and I forced that and it was short. I don't really know why. I did have a few nights of poor sleep. And days without sunshine zap me. But I think mainly I don't like being hot and despite 4 fans blowing the treadmill is so dang hot
But I broke my 4 day no-run streak yesterday with 55 min (not counting warm up and cool down) on the treadmill. A few more days in the month to hit my goal of 60 min. I'll do that Thursday.13 -
@rheddmobile Awesome job! Congrats on the AG series! That trail sounds serious.
@Sparx_81 Doing great towards your goal! That's a lot of mileage!2 -
Morning all. I'm way behind so will try reading later at work. Wanted to update my last two days.
It's been a bit cooler here the last two days and running has been so much easier. Did 5k yesterday, you'd love my splits, tge first 4 were all 5:52 and the last was 5:42.
Today was a 6.5k.
Apparently I do have some self preservation. There was a car accident just up the road 2 days ago. Yesterday someone had moved the car out of the ditch onto the side of the road. This morning as I was running past, 2 young guys were stripping it. This is an incredibly small community, only around 6,500 in the whole area, and about 500 in our little village. As I ran past I yelled "is that your car?". One replied yeah - while struggling to remove the wheel nuts. I said yeah right (was already past them) - remember this is before dawn and both guys had hoodie. I wanted to stop and chase them away but small 5'3" slightly overweight lady who just ran 6.5 k vs 2 tall young guys. I didn't like those odds. So on the way back I went on the opposite side of the road, but veered over to note their car licence plate and will pass on the police. I'm sure they won't do much but given I WANTED to give these punks a dressing down, but valued my face the way it is, I'll have to settle for that.
It says something that I felt comfortable enough to run right past them the first time and say something. I don't actually thi3they would have done anything but...17 -
Brave girl @avidkeo!
Brave? not sure if I'd use that word
And posting in a group of mostly Americans it occurs to me the privilege I have living in NZ. The idea of them having and/or using guns never crossed my mind because we just don't have them here like you to in the states. Probably why I felt comfortable to say anything at all. I might get a punch to the face but anything else never even occurred to me.6 -

Knives, ropes, bats, duct tape.... *Shudder*. Not me. I'ma go the other way quietly and make a panicked phone call to 911.6 -

W5D3 completed. I got up late yesterday and rushed through the door to do the 20 minute run. I was still groggy as I left the house and I didn't even have a chance to consider whether I would take the dog or not on the run and out of habit I took the dog with me. I started running and again gave myself the ok to take a break if it was too much, but then before I knew it the "you are halfway" voice came through my headphones and I was shocked at how great I still felt even after 10 minutes. The remaining 10 minutes were even better and the whole 20 minute run felt great and the dog, who I thought would cave after 10 minutes, was ready to continue running even though we were at the cooldown.

5 easy recovery miles tonight! I ran after work with a coworker and we took it nice and easy (avg HR 135) and chatted the whole way. It was really nice to run with company, and her regular pace was spot on with my recovery pace, so it was a really great match. My legs were fatigued but not unbearably so from the long miles yesterday & last week. I'm starting to get my nutrition a bit more dialed in and I think that's helping quite a bit. Now to get 20 more miles in before the end of the month!

Was going to go out and do an easy effort 8 miles. First few miles felt nice and comfortable. Noticed pace was quite a bit faster than my usual easy run. So slowed down for the next few, then pushed it a little on the last mile to break 9 min/mi. Still felt good, and HR only 129.

One of the joys of living in NZ - I'd be only concerned about getting verbally abused which is enough to stop me from saying anything. Chances are, in all likelihood, they'd be too lazy (or frankly don't care that you know they're stealing) to run after a runner.7 -
We're getting our first taste of autumn here - lovely cool morning, perfect to run in (back to blazing hot now though). No surprises to find it easier to maintain a 5:30 pace on today's 10k - last week it was death to run at 6 min pace. Bodes well for Thursday's 17k scheduled on my running buddy's half marathon plan. Heading out before 9am will also help us significantly too!!
Bonus, that long run will put me back in the 100 mile club this month. Woo hoo!!

Still no running going on here - back pain is much improved but PT recommends not running yet this week. I'm traveling to Arizona later this week and it's super disappointing not to be able to run while I'm there. Of course the running shoes will still come along because walking is permitted, and what if I felt really, really good? But really, I'm trying to be compliant because I had my first official race DNS over the weekend and I don't want another for the Spartan race in a couple of weeks. Nor do I want a repeat of the terrible pain I was in a week ago.14

Somehow I fell hard about a half dozen times yesterday while snowboarding with my kids—I get busy watching them to give them tips and then catch an edge and thunk... so I set off on my run a bit sore in the neck today. But all seems ok, and it was a pretty evening. Snapped a photo of some houseboats for any Sleepless in Seattle fans
And I made my February goal!
February goal: 40 mi
2/2 5.1 mi
2/4 3.1 mi (after snowboarding)
2/5 cross (4 hours snowboarding)
2/6 3.1 mi TM
