Pcos support? Dr Fung
Thyroid group? Dr bleeping Fung
It's really annoying me. I'm in the group's because I have autoimmune diseases, Dr Fung isn't an expert in those conditions but because he vomits out buzz words people treat him like Thier lord and saviour
give him some type of credit. some things he says obviously resonates with a lot of psople. Ive always heard...take what you can use and leave the rest......I dont understand why some people think that when a popular doctor is just that...popular that they think one is supposed to believe and follow every single thing he or she says.. We dont have to do that. Take what applies or helps you or take nothing at all. Its all good people.....😊21 -

I lost 60 pounds (and maintained it for 3 years now) using just MFP/ calorie counting and have no idea what “Keto” is. And don’t care.9

It did however work wonders for controlling her seizures.
Therapy for seizures is why the keto diet was developed about 100 years ago and time has shown it to be effective for many with seizure disorders. If it was also a miracle weight loss diet, people would have been put on it decades ago.
I have no problem with keto if it helps a person stick with a calorie deficit. Personally, I can't do it because I need to eat low-ish fat due to no gallbladder and my system doesn't process fats as well without it.4 -
I decided to try keto to see what the buzz was about and it’s pretty awesome, it’s easy. Wish I knew about it back In high school when I had no idea how to lose weight.
If you need a structured plan, I’d say give it shot.17 -
I am doing low carb and who ever told you that is very ignorant. High carb low fat diet works as well as the many other diets. If you are experiencing diabetes than there is an advantage of keto since it has some positive results with people who tried it. Other than that there is no basis for what you were told.6

Why should he be given credit for posing as an expert on conditions that he doesn't specialize in?15 -

I had an ex-friend suggest that I do Keto. I asked why. They said because it's the only true way of losing weight and carbs are evil. They became "worried" with the amount of carbs I was eating (I post food pics on my FB account).
I told ex-friend that if I go too low with carbs, my digestive system goes haywire. I tried low-carb keto-esque diet about a decade ago - not for me. She lost me as a friend when she tried to give me medical advice that I may have an autoimmune disorder etc. I told her to go and *kitten* herself.
OP - calorie in < calorie out is the only weight-loss plan I follow. Worked for me in the past; working for me now.7 -

@emmyjo23 quick keto macros: set your carbs to 5%, leave your protein at the default 20%, and fill the rest with fat.

Hey Mike,
I am a nurse and I am doing Keto right now because, medically they are discovering a lot of things about keto that are good for the human body. One reason is because of the negative effects of sugar on people. Sugar causes inflammation in the body, or should I say it feeds inflammation in the body. They have done studies on cancer pts and found that those who went without sugar recovered better then those who did not. Excess sugar in the diet also leads to insulin resistance, diabetes, fatty liver, heart problems ect.
The short answer to this is because when the body spends all its time processing sugar & carbohydrates into fat it has little time to do anything else. As sugar has increased in the American diet we, as a nation have become sicker and sicker. And its not just fat people who are sick. If you are thin and not getting the right amount of nutrients then you can also be sick.
On you tube there are a few doctors who I recommend checking out their videos if you are interested in learning about or trying Keto
one is Dr Ken Berry and the other is Dr Jason Fung, another good reference is Dr Eric Berg who is not an MD but still very knowledgable on the subject and has a lot of information as well as medical references on his youtube channel. All of these doctors have a wealth of information on the topic. I use them to keep me motivated and also for information. Good luck on your journey!
What studies on cancer are you referencing here?
What does it mean for your body not to have "time" to do other things while processing carbohydrates? My understanding is that our bodies are capable of performing multiple tasks at the same time. While we're digesting food, our other bodily functions aren't suspended.24 -
If it's the only way, then how did folks do it before? 🤓17
