Thank you, Barbie for starting off another month.
My goal for March was to be lighter at the end of the month than the beginning. I failed miserably, being 9 pounds up over one short month.
I'm struggling a bit (OK, a lot) with depression on a number of fronts. Not clinically depressed, just beating on myself for a number of reasons, my weight definitely being one of them. Part of it is health-related, part of it is age-related, part of it is missing my son (while being very glad he's gone, both for our sake and his). Part is my writing, where I'm just blocked, still, and have been for weeks, and struggling with that. I'm not a "mood" writer, I'm a writer. It's... disturbing.
Traveling today, in a hotel in Little Rock tonight, and have my hopes that will break me free of this... malaise, whatever it is, that's depressing my spirits. Pure solitude often has its upside, at least for me. We'll see.
I love y'all, and most of the reason I haven't been contributing here is because I can't see out of this fog I'm in to feel I can contribute anything to anyone, even to myself. It's the reason I've said very little.
However, on a brighter note, my marriage feels renewed, re-centered, revived, from just being us again, after an exhausting year and a half. With a total of 10 months spent living with other people, either in their house or ours, plus moving and the house rehab, it's amazing to just focus on each other again.
Time to shower, finish packing, and get on the road,

Viv: I log my food on my phone as I go along. That way I don’t forget to put in what I’ve eaten and don’t worry about remembering how much of this or that. I visit this group from my computer. I find it much easier than trying to respond from the phone.
When I want to log, I log my lunches and most of my snacks for the week in advance. I'll go in at lunch on Monday, and just log everything for Mon - Fri.
Dinners can be different each day, so I have to wait until later to log them, and my evening snacks may vary too, so I'll wrap things up just before bed.
But because what I eat is quite similar one day to the next, it's pretty easy.
EDIT: Having said that ... I went through and entered most things for the week.

Kelly your dinner sounds so delicious, I'm coming over! Middle eastern flavors are my favorite. And WTG with the 4# loss and your goals, really great.

Lisa. Oooofff, that writing thing. I am struggling with mine, but managing to drag myself to the page around three times a week. Has stopping your blog affected things? I tell myself that even one sentence of nonsense is better than nothing.
I came downstairs to make lunch and picked up my phone which was recharging. Found a voicemail on it and nearly didn't check it as it said Unknown. It was the breast clinic cancelling my appointment this afternoon because of staff illness. They rang at 9.04 this morning. Phew! Saves me having to order a taxi etc. It's a gorgeous day out there, so I may go out for a walk or a run. Doing a veggie curry for dinner with lentils, left over bits and pieces and some lovely spinach.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxx

Kate - I am still having the same javascript enabling problem. Have gone thru the internet tools, reset everything and it is still acting up. I'm using Windows 7.
Kelly - your Indian meal sounded great, I love all those flavors.
Rita- I've been meaning to comment, you look much younger in your recent photo. I think you've not only lost weight, you've also lost years!
Lisa - glad to see you back. You've had a lot of changes here recently - knee surgery, son leaving. I don't do well with any change it seems, good or bad. Glad to hear you and Corey are having the chance to enjoy each other's company again.
Our poor older dog... the other night we had a huge crack of thunder and lightening right over the house! Sophie is terrified of any noise like that and has been constantly licking, licking since then. Female parts and paws, you name it. I have some herbal sedatives I'm going to feed her today and see if I can get her out of the habit.
Happy April Fools Day, ladies!

Penny here. I've been through the wars over the past couple months. I think I last posted from Cabo Verde in January, and I haven't logged in since then. How lovely to see you all again!
My long silence was caused by overwork. By coincidence two very big projects I'd agreed to well in advance both turned out to have several different non-negotiable deadlines on the same days. I kept up my health project as long as I could, jogging regularly and eating with my brain turned on, but the eating went down the drain in late January and the (regular) jogging followed soon after. Funny thing (not) is I've gained about 2 kg since then.
The real eye-opener is how quickly I lost my form. It's frightening how easily I tire now. I fully intend to claw my way back but it will take me some time. To help focus my attention, I'm going to register to run Spitsbergen half-marathon two months from today. My darling daughter has already registered, so that will be fun, even though we won't be running together. She will have completed her half-marathon, walked home, showered, changed and walked back to the finish line before I get there.
I began the recovery process a couple weeks ago by upping my jogging (increasing the frequency rather than the distance) and have started logging my food again. One step at a time...

Hello new peeps
Hey there regular peeps5 -
Hi Ladies, Is it OK if I join your group? You seem like a well established group and I don’t want to barge in. I’m Laura from Los Angeles. 66 year old. I’ve been using MFP for the last year. I’ve lost whole 12 pounds in all that time. I need to do better that. I could use some support and encouragement. I retired last June and had planned to do some traveling. The reality is I have become the caregiver for my mom who is 92 and has multiple health issues. It can get rather stressful at times.
Please let me know if I can join you. You seem like a nice supportive group.10 -
Laura ~ Of course you can join this group. People come and go all the time...it is a great place to meet new people and get support whether it be with losings weight or dealing with life's everyday ups and downs.

Penny and Lisa~ good to hear from you both xoxoxox went and fed DFIL he is on the meds, got alot of fluids in him.. and walked the boys... now home and cut up a tomato to take with my taco salad0

Thanks Carol. We all have those everyday ups and downs. And those things can really affect our weight and our health, both physical and mental. It’s good to find a place where I can share my issues, but also see others have their own issues, too.
Hope all of you have a lovely day!

Laura, Please join us. We welcome new members to our community and love new ideas. I have been posting here for a long time and can't eat breakfast without reading what everyone has to say. I have been retired for a few years and have done some traveling but now stay home where I've built a good life with my husband and his health problems and two dogs and a cat who make huge demands on my time.
I log my food almost every day. It's easy for me because I eat almost exactly the same food every day.

Lisa: I’m delighted that you and your DH have your home to yourselves and are feeling revived and renewed. Vitamin D3 does wonders for my sense of happiness and wellbeing. It is sometimes nicknamed the sunshine vitamin. Do you take it? It might be worth a try. I get this in the pharmacy department at Walmart for a very reasonable price. The brand I have now is Naturemade 5000iu capsules. I take one a day. I’ve had other brands that were the same strength and did the job just as well. Give D3 some consideration. It might help you.
Penny: I am absolutely delighted to see your post. Welcome back! :flowerforyou:
Laura in LA: Welcome!
Pip: I love the lighted bike in your backyard. :flowerforyou:
Yoga today!!! (I hope. Our teacher has been travelling.) Yay!!!

Ladies, my tribe, my clan, my people! Happy Monday! I have been drinking my extra sleepy time tea, and its been working! I had been taking melatonin pills, but read that taking those too often can interfere with your bodies own production to melatonin. I want to sleep, without mentally packing boxes, or planning huge projects in my brain. I want to be able to have a restorative sleep. I want a lot of things... Lol!
No word on the house yet. Yesterday made a huge pan of lasagna! My husband and son were very appreciative, making yummy noises, and complimented me on my lasagna construction techniques.💗
Haven't figured out my goals quite yet, but I am being more mindful these days.

Barbie ... Thank you for the new thread!
Kelly ... 4 pounds is fantastic! That rate of loss is sustainable and significant!
March Goals
1. Commit to whole month of 19/5. 100%
2. Continue with MFP recommendations ... calories/log food/etc. 75%
3. New recipe/new food item each month. 100% Discovered Carrot Top Pesto (my new favorite), Vegetarian Split Pea Soup, Mexican Coleslaw with Cumin-Lime Vinaigrette, Italian Sausage Tortellini Soup, Parsley and Garlic Fritatta (received a large bunch of Italian Flat Leaf Parsley last week), Butternut Squash Soup, Kale and Shaved Broccoli with Avocado Dressing (so-so), and Key Lime Bars
4. Journal each day. 100%
5. Declutter one area of home for 15 minutes each day. 50%
6. Clean kitchen/sink before bed. 75%
7. Resume kettlebell workouts. Done, but need to be more consistent.
Lost 8 pounds in March!
April Goals: The same. My goal is 1 pound per week and since January have averaged 1.5 pounds. This was a good month! The 19/5 intermittent time restricted eating plan is a helpful tool for me. I'm not hungry and I'm eating well. I believe I'm gaining some health benefits as well, but lab work will need to confirm that in May. I continue with the CICO/logging most of the time because I think portion control and moderation work hand in hand, but I am also starting to trust my my appetite and the 19/5 structure. Decluttering, cleaning, planning, trying new things ... all of these things have contributed to this month's success. The new Gretchen Rubin book that Barbie has started reading sounds intriguing so putting that on my list as well.6 -
Forgot to list my April goals:
1. Embrace my busy season, stay focussed and positive
2. Be realistic about your social anxiety and stretch yourself a little more
3. Pick up/clear out the back yard a tiny bit every non-rainy day
4. Stop eating after 6 p.m.
5. Get thee to thy gym
Beth your March goals and progress made me want to list mine, you are rockin' this 19/5 plan!
