Exercise:
During each Weight goal I plan on doing cardio in the form of dancing at aerobic levels whenever possible. I would also like to walk as much as possible although walking outside is impossible for me this time of year.

04/03 …..189.6 ….. Those bits & pieces of calorie deficit & low carb each day finally added up to over a pound loss on the scale. Now I just need to stay focused. 1059 Calories In/2865 Calories Out. 8 Net Carbs. 17,881 Total Steps with a busy work day & a planned long walk. 8.56 Total Miles. IF 12:12 . 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 4 hours & 54 minutes. I took a long moderately paced walk totaling 150 minutes. I did not eat back my 717 Calorie burn for the walk. Another busy day at work. I must take the time to pre-plan my food so I don’t “grab & go”. That always ends in a nighttime binge & an overall disaster. Not today, nope, not today. Determined.
04/04 …..188.8 ….. More improvement. Such a busy work day yesterday with no time for planned exercise, but I was on my feet a lot for sure! Today will be even busier. I started spring cleaning in one of the cabins. EVERYTHING comes out, including furniture. Wall washing today! Yesterday’s stats: 1234 Calories In / 2601 Calories Out. 13,188 Total Steps & 5.58 Total Miles. IF 12:12 . Today I will go back to 16:8 in fasting as I was working on a metabolism reset. 12/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 4 hours & 13 minutes. Yesterday was another good eating day which paid off!
04/05 …..189.8 ….. Just not good at all. Worked physically hard yesterday but mostly not a lot of walking. Spring cleaning a cabin which I will complete today. Horrible stats for yesterday due to a binge late night. Best estimate on MFP food journal: 2340 Calories In / 2549 Calories out. 201 Net Carbs. 10,130 Total Steps & 4.31 Total Miles. IF 16:8 . 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 6 hours & 6 minutes which was probably a sugar crash. This is how it works & no amount of wishful thinking or regret can change it. Only I can through my actions. I’ll never give up.
04/06 …..189.8 ….. It comes off so much slower than it goes on! Holding steady thankfully after a late dinner out with son. I had a heavy work day again with little chance to exercise. Today I take my DGSs for their hair appointments & lunch. Tomorrow one of them has a birthday. I’ve got to get through these next two days without much damage so I will try to stay on high alert. Yesterdays stats: 1473 Calories In / 2471 Calories Out. 145 Net Carbs. 13,461 Total Steps & 5.7 Total Miles. IF 16:8. 12/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 4 hours & 37 minutes. Did elliptical for 16 minutes but exhausted from work day. Have a nice weekend everyone!
04/07 …..189.8 ….. It’s stubborn but so am I. I didn’t expect much movement after spending most of the day with my DGSs & my son yesterday but I enjoyed my time. Yesterday’s stats: 1850 Calories In/ 2123 Calories Out. Best guesstimate is 120 Net Carbs. 8,043 total steps & 3.4 Total Miles. IF 16:8. 11/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 5 hours & 38 minutes. I hope you all had a wonderful Sunday. I attended my DGSs 11th birthday party & enjoyed more family time.
04/08 …..190.0 ….. A slight tick up but not bad considering I attended a food driven birthday party for my DGS. I am learning more control in the social situations. Not where I want to be yet, but an improvement. Yesterday’s stats: Best Guesstimates on food: 2257 Calories In / 2610 Calories Out. 176 Net Carbs. 14,446 Total Steps & 6.11 Total Miles. IF 16:8 . 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 4 hours & 57 minutes. I danced for 47 minutes last night. Sample song “Shakin” by Eddie Money. Today will be better & I will be 100% on track & I couldn’t be happier about that!

I fell asleep exhausted & slept 5 hours & 58 minutes. I could have used even more sleep. I took a short 22 minute walk & enjoyed the sun a bit yesterday. Otherwise, it was a heavy work day & today will be heavy too. I’ve got to tighten my belt if I expect to see change!
04/10 …..189.8 ….. I am working hard to try to reach my round goal of a 2 lb loss. Great numbers to report for yesterday & the whoosh has got to come soon. Down a nudge today. Yesterday’s stats: 1268 Calories In / 2845 Calories Out. 19 Net Carbs. 18,519 Total Steps & 7.84 Total Miles. IF 16:8 . 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept badly last night at 3 hours & 49 minutes. I took a brisk long walk for 64 minutes & I danced for 32 minutes. Sample song “Faith” by George Michael. Getting in the exercise really increased my numbers. Today I will be spring cleaning at my daughter’s and helping with my 2 yr old DGS. Lots of work on my feet, but not likely to have much time for planned exercise or steps. Maybe tonight if I’m not too exhausted. Happy hump day everyone!
04/11 ….. 189.6….. Sadly My sister Debbie passed away at 6:30 A.M. this morning in the ambulance on the way to the hospital with her bad & weakened heart. She had just turned 64 recently. It is a day that is heavy on my heart & soul. Here are my stats from yesterday, then I am bundling up on this cold snowy wintry gloomy & devastating day to pray all day & to give thanks for her life. I ate more after I closed the day out, so here are the updated numbers: 1751 Calories in / 3018 Calories Out. 106 Net Carbs. 19,083 Total Steps & 8.08 Total Miles. IF 16:8 . 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I charged my fitbit last night but slept in the 5 ½ hour range. I danced for 18 minutes, sample song “Pretty Woman” by Roy Orbison. I walked 1 hour & 50 minutes until I was so sore I could hardly get in bed last night. If I could, I would walk all the way from Northern Michigan to Tennessee just to see her one more time. Prayers for Debbie. She was so incredibly special.
04/12 …..191.8 ….. Helping guide my nieces in regards to my sisters immediate cremation request. Working on Obituary information for newspapers in 2 different states. Not much movement yesterday. Lots of phones & texts. Not much water. Not much sleep. Lots of quick grab foods & carbs. I will try to work harder this next round. My glucose numbers are up due to crappy diet, weight & the stress of my sister’s passing. It’s all about good health. That has never been as obvious as it is in this very moments.

04/03/19: Today’s weight is 170.4, the exact same weight as yesterday, and the day before that. Continuing to look for ways to cut calories and sneak in some additional exercise. I’m beginning to feel like I’m plateauing again. I just want to get out of the 170’s for good. Yesterday I came in at 1,224 calories, then burned an additional 380 calories on the elliptical and strength training. I was really hungry by lunch time today.
04/04/19: 171.2. Not sure what’s going on and why I’m almost a whole pound heavier this morning, but it is what it is. Met my calorie goal today. Took a break from the gym and went shopping for some smaller spring/summer clothes.
04/05/19: 169.4 Woo-hoo! Hope it stays in the 160’s. I began drinking lemon water today to increase my overall water intake. Water is the one thing I haven’t been tracking. I’m also trying to cut back on the sodium, as it may be masking weight-loss efforts. I’ve been doing some exercises for my arthritis for a week now, and I could tell a difference at the gym today. I seem to be gaining mobility in my hip A non-scale victory! I came in just under my calorie limit today.
04/06/19: 168.6 Yay! When I hit 166.5, that will be 40 pounds lost. Reminding myself to be patient, and take it one day at a time, and not be upset if that number goes up a little tomorrow. Also reminding myself that slow weight loss is the best. Be patient, Jodie Girl!
04/07/19: 167.4 Shut up! I have a body fat composition scale that measures body fat, skeletal muscle, etc. (Yes, I know these scales aren’t 100% accurate, but I still like the info it gives.) One of the other things it measures is water percentage. I’ve been hovering at about 47% water. I drank more lemon water yesterday, and even though my weight decreased by almost a pound, it showed that I’m at 48% water. Maybe this scale is more accurate than I give it credit for??
04/08/19: 169 Honestly, I’m not surprised. I woke up with a sinus headache yesterday, and battled it the whole day. I slept most of the day and didn’t drink enough water. Drank a little more water today, but not as much as I would have liked. I worked out hard at the gym today. I’m curious to see what the scale says tomorrow.
04/09/19: 169.6 Well, considering I was up half the night with indigestion, I’m not surprised. Took some Pepto-Bismol at 3:00 am and ate some crackers, so that may partially explain this uptick. I feel a little bloated this morning.
04/10/19: 169.2 Yay! I came in under my calories yesterday (1223) and had a good workout at the gym. So glad to be in the 160’s for 5 days in a row! I think I can now say that I am officially out of the 170’s. I continue to work on increasing my water intake.
04/11/19: 169.6 Not sure why it’s up a little today. I had a really good workout yesterday, and came under in my calories (1183), so I’m guessing that it’s water weight. Who knows what tomorrow will bring, but I can say this: I know who I have been these past couple of weeks. I’ve made good choices, and am taking care of myself.
04/12/19: 169.4 Well, I made my goal. I was secretly hoping it would be lower than that, but I had both pasta and red potatoes for lunch yesterday. My average weight over the past 10 days is 169.38, which rounds up to 169.4!

Well, harumph. My 10-day ave came down slighty, but yesterday I did have a series of snack attacks - big blueberry muffin + way too many nuts (almonds, pistachios, cashews) + 2 Reese's PB cups. Not all at once! No, I spread my indulgences all through the day. Anyway, I'm off for blood work to recheck my inflammation levels and then for a long outdoor walk and then the gym for weights. And grocery for snacky veggies. And I need to drop the habit of eating while I write (I'm a writer/author and have a bad inclination to eat while I work). Gaaa! I really don't know what's gotten into me - it's been 4 years since I started this journey in earnest and I was definitely "in remission" re. sugar and simple carbs and just plain over eating. One thin I can do is go to the library to work - no food allowed! But also no coffee or water.... Anyway, today is another new beginning, right? Right.

Yesterday was a very good day - some exercise, calories in line, macros good, low sugar, no stupid snacking....all good. So this increase is due to 3 crazy high-calorie days out of the past 6. But I feel finally that I'm really back at it - maybe I needed a blow out to find my way back.

Good news for me - yesterday I had blood work to measure inflammation, which I've been fighting for the past 10 months. One measure is now in the normal range, the other just barely over. They were both VERY high last fall. I refused to take prednisone long term, despite a lot of pressure from doctors, and I attribute the improvement to regular exercise and to working toward optimum (rather than "within reference range") levels of vitamins D3, K2, B12, and magnesium. I'm relieved and more hopeful about resolving this for good in the next few months. Oh, and my pain has diminished a lot. Yay!

Ok, I’ve done better the past few days but still have the results of earlier high-cal days. I’ve decided not to make too big a deal of all this. I saw a new, much more compatible-with-me rheumatologist on Tuesday, and aside from being a few pounds heavier than I want to be, all is well - inflammation WAY down from 10 months ago (it’s been a long, ouchy 10 months), my BP, heart rate, and oxygen saturation are all excellent, and the pain I’ve been living with is much reduced. I know the weight will come off in the next few months as I get outside more and start putting in my new garden. I’ll keep checking in, but have no short-term weight goals. Happy weekend, all!

4/3 129.0 Trying to fast today. I didn’t sleep well last night and already have a headache and sore throat (not fast related.)

4/12 128.5 Working on getting a grip after a few stressful weeks. Just a note regarding fluctuations - last night when I went to bed I weighed 132.5. I felt as if I got up to pee 100 times. Not a restful night! This morning I was down 4, yes, FOUR pounds! That’s a lot of water! Everyone hang in there. Be consistent in your weigh times. Naked, after going to the bathroom first thing after you wake up is best, if you can do it.

04/03 346.2 Well that’s a nice start to the round. My nsv yesterday was a long walk outside. I managed 2100 steps in a single walk and will be working towards doing it twice a day by the end of the month.
04/04 347 Bounce, water retention from a late quick dinner because I forgot to plug in my crockpot. I also took my walk late. I’m sure it will drop again.
04/05 345 There’s that big drop I knew was coming. I knew it had to be and hopefully I’ll see a few more small drops this round.
04/06 345.8 Another late dinner, low water, higher sodium day.
04/07 344.4 I’m beginning to get used to this up down trend that I seem to have. Though I admit that I like the down so much better than the up. I tried moving my breakfast to a brunch and cutting out lunch yesterday. I ended up with a headache all day so I’m not sure I’ll try it again soon.
04/08. 342 I thought I would continue down, but not by this much. I expect that I’ll see a bounce back up in a day or two. If not then maybe this is all the water weight finally going. I guess I’ll see what tomorrow brings.
04/09. 341.2 I’m surprised, but happy that the trend is continuing. I’ve been sticking to my calorie goals and staying lower on sodium than before.
04/10 340.0 Another big drop, I didn’t have this happen in the beginning of my journey so I guess this is catch up. I’m also staying on track with my sodium goals and water. I won’t be surprised to see a stall or bounce up soon.
04/11. 343.4 I’m not surprised and actually a little happy to see a bounce up. It seems more accurate than the lower numbers and even if I have another little bounce tomorrow it will be a nice loss for the round.
04/12 343.6 I’m happy here because I know I was low water and high activity yesterday . I’ll see a drop again in a day or two once muscle recovery is done. My nsv was getting to 5k steps, I’m a little stiff today, but really happy with my progress.

4/3 161.8 First day back on track officially, thanks to my husband for leading the way. It's been an emotional 2019 but I can only control myself and only change myself, so here goes! It took me 4 months last time to lose 15 lbs, lets make this even better. I know the cycle doesn't start until tomorrow, but I am tired of postponing so here I am right now.
4/4 161.8 Have my day planned out, started with a 20 minute meditation, then walked the dogs with my child. Ate breakfast and logged it, will have a light lunch and early dinner. Yesterday was an emotional throw in the towel day but I'm back on track today.
4/5 160.8 Good day yesterday, met my goals. Today's goals Meditate 20 min, walk with my child and dogs, deliver work stuff, stay on course with my eating. Grateful that I have this resource to come back to and for the accountability.

4/3 - 174.6 - 175.4 is the right weight, abs workout yesterday. - 43g carbs, 41g net carbs. Carbs were: fried chicken, cabbage, grain free granola.
4/4 - 174 - 37g carbs, 28g net carbs. Carbs were: mexican squash w/vidalia onions (so tasty, but so carby!) peanut butter. Lots of stretching needed today from glute workout. 🙀yow!
4/5 - 176.8 - Probably 175.8 I drank 16ozs of water just before weighing. Still holding fluid from butt and leg workout. Muscles are still on a low hum😃 My knee told me, unh-unh yesterday, so no walk. It was feeling unstable. Stretching and balance exercises accomplished. Raining today, but if it doesn't pour down, I may go for a walk in it. 40g carbs, 29g net carbs. Carbs were: cauliflower, peanut butter, mexican squash w/vidalia onions.
4/6 - 175.8 - 30g carbs, 24g net carbs. Carbs were: peanut butter, salad, salad dressing.
4/7 - 177.4 - Not surprised. I was not hungry for my first meal until the 19 hour mark (2pm) I don't fast on Saturdays. I did an arm and shoulder workout at 10:30pm and felt hungry afterwards. So I ate again at 12am! 51g carbs, 50g net carbs. Carbs were: crackers, green juice, grain free granola.
4/8 - 178- 85g carbs. Carbs were: everything I ate contributed to my carb count. I broke my fast at 2:30pm and "dinner" was 2 brownies.
4/9 - 178.2 - Don't want to see this number, but I have to exercise! Another late evening workout. Not much cardio yet, only what my knee allows, as I stretch and strengthen the supporting muscles. I am seeing improvements 😀 24g carbs, 17g net carbs. Carbs were: peanut butter, pumpkin seeds, cauliflower, green beans.
4/10 - 176.8 - 22g carbs, 16g net carbs. Carbs were: guacamole, peanut butter.
4/11 - 176.2 - 32g carbs, 25g net carbs. Carbs were: broccoli, pumpkin seeds, peanut butter (last day for peanut butter) french fries (10 pieces) My Granddaughter asked if I had french fries, she wanted "some" with her lunch. It was unusual for her to ask because she doesn't really like fries. She'll eat FOUR. I certainly wasn't going to cook just 4, I cooked 1 serving, 14. She ate 😒 3, I ate 😳 10. Lol. Smh. Tired today. I completed the rest of my glute workout late last night along with some stretching.
4/12 -178.2 - I REALLY hate posting this weight on the last day of the round. I was out all day yesterday and only had a snack of pumpkin seeds to keep me going. Got home, DH was already here, so I prepared dinner, ate at about 7pm. Not enough calories, too many to leave behind and not hungry for more food. Had some work to do and when I finished it was 11:30pm. Of course, I was hungry then, so I ate at midnight. I need to work on this emerging pattern of not being hungry until very late in the day.

04/03--211.6 Great workout with trainer yesterday. Yoga tonight. I'm also supposed to go out and do a 2 mile run, but there is rain in the forecast and I hate running on a treadmill...whether I go out for a run will be a last minute decision.

04/05--211.2 About 1 year ago my husband promised to take dance lessons with me. For the past year he has tried to get out of his promise, but I recently found an intro 4 week dance class that I thought would be perfect for us because it's only 4 weeks and we get to learn a different dance every week. My husband agreed to take the class and tonight is our first lesson...we'll see how it goes.
04/06--210.7 Well last night's dance lesson was great. My husband was chewing at his lip for about the first 15 minutes of lesson, it was definitely out of his comfort zone, but he did loosen up. At one point I even heard him tell a woman who had rotated as his new partner that she had much warmer hands than his wife. Last night's lesson was the rumba and he did promise that he would practice during the week. It was nice to go out and do something different. Went out for a 3 mile run today.
04/07--211.2 Weightlifting at gym today. In-laws came over today and we went out for lunch. I chose something to fit in my calories, but ate some extra snacks while they were over at our house so I expect it to show up on the scale tomorrow. Going to drink some more water today.
04/08--211.6 I don't think I'm out of the woods yet with the scale after yesterday's eating, but I'm back on track today. Run tonight...hopefully it won't be raining.
04/09--210.3 Did not go out for a run yesterday. Even though I had a headache I still felt guilty about not going out to run, but when I heard the thunder and pouring rain outside soon after I got home from work I didn't feel guilty anymore. I did some extra snacking last night, the first time in a long time, but I did drink a lot of water yesterday to help with my lack of water over the weekend. Hubby agreed that tonight we should practice our dancing. Trainer tonight.

04/11--208.9 Ran 2 miles yesterday, but no yoga. I ate something that I knew I shouldn't have because it was on my food allergy list, but I wanted to eat it anyway and I felt so gross afterwards. My stomach was bloated and felt heavy, so I'm surprised that I didn't have an uptick in the scale this morning. I'm feeling better today but yesterday was a reminder that even though I've been on this elimination diet for 4 months I still have work to. Trainer tonight.
04/12--208.3 Surprised about the drop since I feel bloated today. I am now officially overweight and no longer obese. Trainer wants to work more on my flexibility in order to help with some of my lifts, so I'm now committed to do some stretching/foam rolling on a daily basis. Dance lesson tonight, I think we are learning the swing.

Hi everyone, I am back for another round. So I am still floating around the low 150's, still waiting for that whoosh to get me into the elusive 140's. This round ends on a Friday and only has 1 weekend in it, so it should go well. No out of town events or anything crazy happening the next couple of weeks, so would love to get some real progress done in the next 10 days, but we will see. 04/03 - 149.6 yyyeeeaahhh!!! I finally made it back here. It has taken some work though. Did well yesterday, did have an alcoholic drink once I got home last night, but other than that no bread and no sweets. Now just to continue to stay in this decade and not go back up. I officially only have 9.6 pounds left to lose. I am in single digits, lol.
04/04 - 148.8 What in the **** is going on. I can't believe I had another drop. I hit 150 something on 3/13 and could not budge from that number. Now I have had 2 nice drops on the scale in 2 days. I'm taking it and hoping to stay the course. I have officially lost 30 pounds as of today. I started trying to lose weight in July of 2018 and it has taken me a little longer than I thought it would. My initial time frame was 5 - 6 months to lose the whole 40 pounds I wanted to lose. 9 months and 30 pounds later I am still not at goal weight, but I am getting closer. Pretty much my average monthly weight loss is just over 3 pounds instead of the 6-8 I was striving for. Oh well, I finally made it to the 30 pound mark, so I am going to pat my self on the back and keep trucking. It's so funny because last week I was so frustrated and overwhelmed with the lack of progress I almost gave up. I'm glad I didn't and kept pushing my self. Somebody posted a couple of weeks ago that they actually weighed what their drivers license said they did, so I looked at mine. Well I put 150, which was obviously not the truth, but I actually weigh less than that now. No alcohol, bread, or sweets yesterday and staying on plan for today. My hubby and I do have date night with another couple planned, but I said I would drive (that way I have the perfect excuse not to drink any extra calories tonight). I love a good beer or cocktail on date night, but I will sacrifice the next couple of weeks to get where I want to be.
04/05 - 148.1 Didn't lose anything for weeks and in 3 days I lose 2 pounds. I am definitely expecting an uptick pretty soon. I only ate about 600-700 calories yesterday. I was slammed at work all day so only ate about 400 calories during the day and then by the time I got home, fed the family, did homework with kids, and then got ready myself, I was out of time. I grabbed a piece of grilled chicken I had cooked and a couple of bites of the mac and cheese and we left. Since I was driving I only drank ice tea at the bar and chose not to get any of the appetizers even though I was still kind of hungry. Normally I would have easily ate and drank a 1000 if not more calories last night, so I'm happy that I stayed the course. The play was good that we went to see and I had fun with our friends and my hubby, so all in all it was a great date night. Busy weekend scheduled like always, so hopefully I can stay on track and not gain to much for Mondays weigh in.
04/06 - 148.8 up a bit. Had some wings from hooters last night, but also a huge salad as my main course. So I’ll take the couple of ounces. 2nd oldest and middle child have prom tonight. So pictures and getting ready for that will be on the schedule for tonight. So far so good with my eating. Off to do shopping and errands. Hopefully will see another 140 something tomorrow.
04/07 - 150.3 expected! Texas Roadhouse for dinner last. So good! Just trying to stay on track today and maybe go down a couple ounces by tomorrow.
04/08 - 152.8 uuuggghh! Normal weekend bump. It will be gone in a day or 2. I know it's all sodium from eating out. We hardly ever eat out during the work week, but my weekends are so crazy, we just grab and go half the time. Yesterday was within maintenance calories, but we did not eat dinner till 8:30 (Wendy's) and then I went to bed around 9:30. Had to help middle child and her friends with a rube goldberg project that was suppose to take an hour. 6 hours later we were finally finished and hungry. On track today with lots of water and meals planned!
04/09 -150.3 just stopped in real quick to post. Super busy day! Meals planned and should be an easy day food wise.
04/10 - 148.8 Planned to get Chinese food take-out last night for dinner, so saved most of my calories for that and then made sure to drink lots of water throughout the day. 2 more days and I am hoping to stay the course and finish this round strong. Super crazy day yesterday and another one planned today. Going over to the oldest kids house tonight and help with a couple of projects they have at the new condo and then dinner in the crock pot.
04/11 - 148.8 I think it would have definitely been lower, but we didn't eat dinner till about 8:15 and I had a half of a baked potato that I thought was a good choice until I logged it. I doubled the amount of sodium and carbs that I should have had. I also had a small bowl of fried rice, so calories and fat were good, but killed myself on everything else. Lesson learned I guess. We have to go to the next town over tonight for dinner to a Mexican restaurant and last time we went there I gained the next morning. So going to try something new there this time. I wish we could get out of it seeing as this round ends tomorrow, but it's a meeting with family to plan funeral services for my husbands grandma that is on hospice and isn't doing well. We are also stopping by to visit her while we are there.
04/12 - 148.8 well last night was terrible!. Saying good bye to my husbands grandma was so heart wrenching, she is non-responsive and the hospice nurse said it will be any day now. His grandpa broke my heart and has no idea what he will do without her. I am kind of shocked I did not go up on the scale this morning. We drank way to many beers and over ate trying to avoid the sadness in the room. Everybody is just sitting around and waiting for her to pass. Every time I turned around my husband was handing me another beer. In all the years we have been together I can name the number of times I have seen him cry and last night was one of the worst. I may go up in the next day or 2, but it is what it is. I am still ending this round 1.3 pounds down and my 10 day average is down by just over 2 pounds and in the 140's. I am taking this as a major win and moving on to round 74!
P.S. Thanks for all the hugs! My husband and I are very blessed that we still have both sets of our grandparents at our age. This will be the first one that will pass on either side. I am so lucky that my children have all got to know and spend time with their great grandparents as much as they have and I know that is a rare thing to get in life. I think the inevitable waiting is the hard part at this point. Thank you all though for your thoughts and prayers.11 -

We spent spring break in Utah, day hiking in the national parks and logged 60 miles over 8 days. On vacation, I ate protein for breakfast, a reasonable lunch, a bit of gorp while hiking, corn chips after hiking (for the salt) and a large but protein & veggie heavy dinner. I didn't log, but mostly paid attention to what I ate. Happy to say that all the hiking meant I still ended up with a bit of a loss. I have about 10 pounds left to my current ultimate goal weight. 04/08 139 Forgot to put my fitbit on yesterday...but was probably low on steps anyway! NSVs -- stopped at the store to buy some clothes. The small tops fit!! I had mostly got rid of my XL shirts and was wearing L, small was a surprise. I'm not really sure if the fact that a size 4 pair of jeans fits, means that you should buy it.....but they were only $8.99, so what the heck! I'm a bit suspicious, honestly, of some of those smaller pant sizes! And at zumba today, I actually thought I looked pretty good in the mirror! Thanks for letting me share. Have a happy day everyone!

04/10 138.5 The scale was kind to me. Been fighting a cold all week (and losing). Yesterday I had planned on walking with a friend and just as she was driving over the sky let loose and it POURED. So we sat around and drank coffee and ate bagels and chatted instead. And since I had already had a bagel, why not have a half slice of beer bread I had made the day before, followed by a whole slice, and a chocolate chip blondie. I was good at dinner, so I don't think I really went over on calories, just carbs, but I haven't logged yet. And my steps were really low! Today is a new day!
04/11 137.5 Strength, zumba, and then a 4 mile walk to make up for a lazy Tuesday! Fasted til dinner, and then had a wonderful sashimi dinner and a beer and two mini chocolate cupcakes that I made for the kids. (Which filled out my calories for the day). Happy that the losses are still coming even with <10 to lose. I've been drinking 12-16 glasses of water a day, which always helps me!
04/12 138 Walked 3 miles, then walked another 4.5 miles with a friend, then got in a bonus zumba class in the afternoon when my son had to stay late at school. Happy with the loss this 10 days, and happy to maybe have a half pound in the bank for the next one!

04/03 153 Off to a strong start! Yesterday I ate well, though I continue to struggle with meeting my protein goal of 60 grams. I'm always under. It's hard on just 1200 calories! How much that affects my fat loss, I don't know. Tomorrow I predict I'll be up by a few due to fast food meals with a lot of sodium...
04/04 153.6 I'll focus on the positive first: I made my step goal yesterday. Don't laugh when you read this- I did 2000 steps. You read that right. I have mobility issues and I'm usually at 1000 or less, so this was an accomplishment for me! Now for the negative...oh, wait, it's not as bad as I predicted! Only up by 0.6 lbs. Whew!
04/05 152.6 I did 3,267 steps yesterday just walking around the house more, and I'm so proud of myself. I got to eat grilled cheese and tomato basil soup with my family last night by tracking portions (half the sandwich, butter measured carefully, measured amount of soup).
I feel like I'm going to be successful this time because I'm doing 3 things in conjunction I've never done before: (1) weighing DAILY, (2) logging every bite and sticking to my calories DAILY, (3) giving and getting support from the MFP community DAILY. Oh, and perhaps equally important: (4) I'm being patient and forgiving, trusting the process enough not to freak out and give up if I stall or gain. This is a mindset shift, not a diet!
04/06 155.4 Per yesterday's insight, trying not to freak out. Had a lot of trouble eating enough yesterday, and didn't eat quality foods (cheeseburger, pizza, ice cream). Loaded with sodium. I know. Not at all balanced. Because I'm IFing, it is *sometimes* difficult to get in the junk plus the healthier stuff that would provide more balance and nutrients. The solution is obvious- eat the good stuff first, then add in treats if there's room, right? Better yet, skip the junk. I'll get there. But I'm not there yet. I've always gone extreme cold turkey in the past and burned out. This time, I'm focusing on not going over my calories, drinking tons of water, and moving more. The healhier foods will come eventually.
04/07 154.6 It was a slightly better eating day. Lunch was at a sub shop, dinner was BLTs with avocado (btw, my meatball sub sandwich was gross and I didn't even want to finish it, but I'd already accounted for it- anyone else ever make this mistake?). I was doing okay with my higher number on the scale until I realized from my MFP progress graph that it was the same weight as TWO WEEKS AGO. A real stall! I guess with all the bobbing up and down, I hadn't realized. Boooo. So then I felt super discouraged, but my MFP friends saved the day and gave me some great advice and encouragement. Two big takeaways: If I keep doing this, I'll be thrilled a year from now (strategy #4 from 4/05 check-in above) and I should be taking measurements to chart progress as well.
04/08 155.2 Managed a Beachbody workout yesterday, did not make my step goal of 2000 steps. Family went for a dozen donuts plus donut holes. Donuts are the one food I'd say I have zero self control with, and...let's just leave it at that. Today is a new day. Maybe it'll average out by the end of this round, though I'm farther from my R 73 goal of 151 than ever. I'm going to revise my goal to 153, my starting weight for this round. Four days until the last weigh in, I can do this!
04/09 154.4 All right, I feel back on track. I did 3500 steps yesterday, most at a moderate walking pace. Tracked my calories well, and I am on target for this week's calorie cycling experiment. Sunday's slide into donutland didn't set me back by a week- I'm truly making those famously important "lifestyle changes" I've always heard about!
04/10 154.4 Feeling great about my choices yesterday, lots of fresh fruit and veggies and 3390 steps! YOU GUYS, I'M WALKING! My hips are achy and I have to take breaks and ice afterward, but I'm walking! No matter what the scale says, I know I'm on the right track.
04/11 153.6 So down -.8 from yesterday, and it'll probably spike up again tomorrow. Basically, this round I've ended up maintaining last round's loss. And next week, I'm traveling and I expect to gain... maybe Round 75 will be where I start turning things around!
04/12 153.6 Yep, as expected. Met my realistic, revised goal weight. Proud of myself for doing an aerobics workout yesterday.
I'm gonna summarize this round as a learning round. Ate under my calories slightly every day, did TWO aerobics workouts and met my step goals almost every day, drank plenty of water. I don't think I messed up; my body just wasn't ready to release more fat this time around.
When people say you need persistence to see results, they also mean you need PATIENCE. You not only have to keep doing the right things, you have to keep doing them even when you *don't* see results.

I also added in some Yoga yesterday previously I was just focused on eating right because have been on doc restriction from exercise but now I can add in yoga and I am so excited. 04/12 - 141.8 - slight gain but still first few days of TOM so it’s better than expected. Overall I lost 1lb which isn’t bad. Much better than a gain. Slow and steady.
This is my first round of this 10 day challenge and the first time I’ve ever tracked daily. I’m pleasently surprised by how much insight this gives me. I can better identify negative trends and nip them in the bud well before I cause too much damage. Looking forward to the next round!5 -
