AND this is how my alcohol brain has been working lately...I bought 24 beer for the move day...12 would have been plenty, then bought the large bottle of wine for the ladies with the intent of sending all the leftover alcohol home with whoever and THEN.....began to think that perhaps I will just hang on to the excess...JUST IN CASE someone dropped in...WHAT??? Where on earth is this coming from???? What is wrong with MY brain...hmmmm!! Any suggestions??
The excess alcohol is going home with whoever and is NOT staying in my house for nothing!! Oh brother....8 -

Well, you DO need to be prepared for those unexpected guests.... And then you might as well drink it before it gets skunked from being in the refrigerator too long....
Or is that only me?5 -

OMG...you actually read my brain about the wine going skunky. I never drank red wine chilled...always liked it room temp, BUT if I wanted it (a type that wasn't terribly to my liking) to last longer OR was 'trying' not to drink it, I'd put it in the fridge cause I don't really like it cold & thought it would be a deterent...well we all know how that works out, don't we??? Kinda like freezing chocolate to avoid eating it....MMMMMM....Yummmy frozen chocolate.
Anyhoo, you read my brain because I thought IF I did hang onto it and IF I didn't sabotage myself & drink it, the thought of it going skunky really bugged me...and I did actually think, "Well, I can always keep it in the fridge so it lasts longer." I've thrown out my share of wine in my drinking days (always when I was sick of myself & decided to give it up ONCE AGAIN!! till the next round), so I'm not sure why I was right into wine preservation in my brain in my new Sober days, BUT this only proves to me that, "Just one drink WILL hurt me." Like has been said here before, "I don't have a drinking problem, I have a 'thinking problem'!!! I think that's a Craig Ferguson line if I remember correctly.4 -

199 days AF for me. Since you are my peeps, thought I’d share my own minor success news, rather than post elsewhere.
Finally decided mid-Jan of this year to do something about my sloth-like lifestyle. I’d still like to get to single digit BF before it’s all said & done....have some work to do still before that happens. But attached are my progress pics (from top to bottom: 01/20, 02/20, 03/20, and 04/20).
I’m learning that being AF and substance-free makes the process a lot easier 😂
Gonna “celebrate” with a meeting later today and going to see my favorite comedian who’s here in town tonight. Happy holiday weekend to all!

I dont post very often usually just read the posts and appreciate the progress everyone is making. I want to recount an experience I had last night at dinner. I am always the designated driver when we go out since everyone else drinks at dinner. Last night one of my friends who has known me since I was a 367 pound hypertensive 60 year old to now a 190 pound runner swimmer fairly healthy " old man" asked me since it is almost 11 years dont I think I can drink occasionally when we are out to dinner and he would be happy to drive? I was surprised to find he thought I still wanted to drink and was fighting cravings to be AF. He still couldn't grasp that people just do not want to drink especially for a lifetime. I explained my only regret was I waited till I was 60 to save my life and I considered the last 11 years physically to be some of the best in my adult life, and I have no regrets not drinking.
One last note my dentist asked me if I drank and when I replied not anymore why do you ask, he said some of the damage to my teeth could have been caused by years of daily drinking and the sugars present in some wines and alcohols. I cant verify he knows what he is talking about but I just added it to my list of things that are improved by my being AF14 -
Awesome and inspiring progress @razorcut !!6

@dbhDeb For me, I woke up after a night of HEAVY drinking and found out from my furious spouse that we had a huge fight and I said terrible things that I have NO recollection of saying. Throwing up until 1 in the afternoon also strengthened my resolve. I would have to say that was my personal rock bottom. I keep re reading parts of "Alcohol Explained" as if it is my bible and it really resonates with me. I don't want that poison in my life anymore, every again. I wish you all a very Happy Easter and Passover.7
-
@razorcut Really looking good! And, although you didn't photograph your face, I can see what a huge change there is in your jawline and chin. Great work!7

Thanks so much @lorrainequiche59 ☺️ I’m glad you think so. I read everyone’s posts daily and don’t always write back but this thread keeps me motivated! 🥰
Woo hoo! Celebrating 🥳 over here with you @buffmom84 ! That’s awesome. I also have some people in my life who just don’t get it... idk, I feel as though it makes others feel guilty or something. *shrug*
And I just realized April 18th was my one month AF anniversary... so today its been 32 days AF. Not sure what kind of treat I’ll indulge in but perhaps some house work with the hubby.
Happy AF Saturday everyone 😘8 -
Upon moving to my apartment end of May, I decided I cannot have any alcohol there at all, not even for guests. So, if a friend wants to come by then it’s BYOB. I’m going to really set some hard limits with my friends as well. If they bring alcohol, they take it back home with them. I don’t trust myself. Next, I am going to set up a tea station on my counter: electric tea kettle, tea box filled with different tea bags, etc.
I keep making rookie mistakes now that I’m going on my own after 24 years of marriage. Just today, the new checks arrived from my own bank account and it has my current (marital) address on them. Now why didn’t I think to put the new address is on there! Oh well, rookie mistakes are probably normal. I also order a new cell phone and the guy on Spectrum said even though it’s being delivered to my new address, I can go on FedEx website and hold it at the facility. NOT! I tried to do that once it shipped, and Spectrum doesn’t allow that setting. They deliver to your place and need a signature. So, back to Texas went my new cell phone, because it was undeliverable, since I don’t live at the address they sent it to. I think I was duped and the Spectrum guy just wanted to make a sale. P.s. I also lurked around and knocked on doors at the new place to see if anyone would sign for it at the new apartment but no one was home.
Happy Sober Easter! Since we’re not drinking, let’s indulge in chocolate bunnies! Do you prefer the tail or the ears? Never mind. LOL8 -

You may be making some rookie mistakes on address-related matters, but that pales in importance to the excellent decisions you are making about alcohol in your new place! I think you are taking exactly the right approach.
May you have a happy Easter, and enjoy the chocolate!
My weakness is red jelly beans. 😊8 -

I'm IN, I'm exhausted & I'm going to bed. I don't have any brain power left to read anymore. I'll catch up tomorrow. All I can say is happy moving Julie!!6

@razorcut Wow! Great job on your AF days and your transformation!2

I have never been one for alcohol. I used to drink very occasionally but only because I felt pressured into doing so as my friends always complained when I didn't want to drink. These days, I don't care what anyone thinks. I don't enjoy alcohol and I'm not going to force myself to drink it to please anyone. I may try it on the odd occasion but so far I haven't come across a drink that I would enjoy so I am happy to remain T-Total. I wish I was as happy to avoid food as I am with alcohol.6

Wishing everyone a wonderful Easter! 💕 🐣 💐 🌺 🌸8
