I wish I'd understood this in my 20's. Would have saved me a lot of aggravation.

Not about me particularly, although I'm sure I've been talk bad about but made me think of other people who talk bad about other people constantly. What do these people gain from spreading hate against someone else? To some, you may be the most amazing person and to others not so much. I'm a big believer in different people bring out different sides of you. People are so easily persuaded and influenced by rumors, in accurate information and just plain hatred. Is it because it's easier to believe the bad rather than the good? For me, unless you've done me wrong personally, you're okay with me. I judge by actions not on words of others. Anyway, just my thoughts this morning and I think I need more coffee lol
All of this, well put. I dont come to conclusions based on rumours or assumptions either... only experience.
As for coffee... I'll take a double shot of espresso please! 😊4 -

This was my exact experience with every restaurant I went to in
Grand Bahama.
It does get comical after a while,
although more so looking back than at the time! Lol1 -

I agree with you on some level, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take what you heard into consideration. Most of the time the things I hear have some truth in it but I choose to ignor it, because it pleases me in the moment. I then end up paying the consequences later. Although, that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t be nice or give someone a chance based solely on rumours. I would just be more cautious until I had a better understanding of who I’m dealing with. I also would take into consideration who is telling me the information and why.7 -

This.
I hate rumors. I won't make a judgement call based on rumors, but I won't completely ignore them either. I will just be more cautious. It has definitely saved me from a world of hurt. And while some rumors are false, or based on a fraction of truth... there are some rumors that are 100% solid gold truth (aka FACT).
But I prefer to learn from personal experience... not other people's experience.

Some very good points here.. most that go without saying. If someone I trust and respect comes to me with something I dont consider it gossip or rumours. But I don't frivolously trust and respect anyone and everyone. On the same token I've been burnt before. Havent we all? Guess that's just life... you live and you learn and you're better for it.
You know what speaks louder than words and even actions? Patterns.11 -

Neither. Couch and Sofa were terms I'd had to familiarize myself with in America. We call it Settee ( settees or settee set). ETA: We tended to use the term pouffe (poof which was also a slur directed to effeminate men) for the puffy foot stool and chaise or chaise longue, instead of lounger with an emphasis on a more French pronunciation.
I'd always assumed Couch derived from the French word couche. Sofa to me sounds north African or middle eastern, lacking originality in my deduction via the word 'sufi." Simplistic attempt at root word derivative. Lol.

Hello S.. nice to see you back 🙂
Hi Jo, thanks.
Hey, welcome back!!!!!!2 -
Trying to get as much work done today before the holiday weekend. I am one who'd rather slog through it, only that most people will use July 4th falling on a Thursday to slag off until Tuesday.
Upside: CORONADO BEACH, if I am up for it. Wooohoooo!2 -
