I so needed this today, thank you!
Had a difficult day yesterday as we completed on the purchase of our new home (as in, it's ours, we have the keys!), which we'd been so excited about, only to find that the seller has left the house in the most disgusting state possible. I would be ashamed to call myself human had I left a house in that state. We were going to decorate before we moved in but I wasn't expecting to be clearing out his rubbish and cleaning up after him.
And he's told bare-face lies to his solicitor about it. He signed a form (legally binding) to state that he would clear the house and leave it clean and tidy. He obviously forgot about that as he told his solicitor that he had left it cleared, clean and tidy. It's just such a shame that I have a camera and emailed the photos to my solicitor who is dealing with the issue.
Well, on the plus side, all of that cleaning, decorating and gardening is going to burn some calories
You’re welcome! Ugh. Buying a house is a ton of work already! I’m so sorry your new place was left like this!!
Our solicitor was fab and has sorted this out - the seller's paying to have the place cleared, so I am slightly happier. Less stressed, anyway.
Already been to the gym this morning, then went straight to the new house to put another layer of paint on walls. Off to parkrun in a minute, then back to the house for more decorating/clearingcleaning etc!
Normally I hate decorating but this is actually a pleasure to do as we've not been allowed to decorate the rented place, so we've been living in a white box for a long time. Not sure about my six year old's choice of purple (lilac) paint but it's her room. And it's COLOUR!10 -
I’m currently eating at a 250 calorie deficit to get back down to the bottom of my maintenance range, since I was bumping against the top of the range. I planned to eat at maintenance on the 4th of July so I could have whatever I wanted at my family’s celebration and not worry about working out. Logged my fake “maintenance day” exercise entry that I use to give myself 250 extra calories when I want to eat at maintenance for a day. Went to my mom’s place, ate all I wanted of our traditional 4th of July foods (fried chicken, watermelon, cucumber sandwiches), then went out to a fireworks show. Came home and had enough energy left that I did my usual workout instead of skipping it as planned. Then realized I was enough under my calories for the day that I wasn’t dipping into the extra calories, so I took the maintenance day entry off. Ha! I got this holiday stuff under control!19

Something, I don’t need words when sharing an NSV about consistency.

Only a few days in but seem to have lost a little belly bloat and the belt has gone down a notch.14

Excellent idea about adding in a fake exercise to bring you up out of deficit and into maintenance for a day! I intentionally let myself eat way “off” yesterday on account of knowing I had “the munchies”. Ya know, the sort where even well hydrated and not hungry you still want to eat.
Nsv- I don’t have those days very often anymore, maybe not even once a month, so I let myself have at it and I reached for fruit to curb a lot of it. It was a controlled dip into *eating all the calories.*
Bonus: after reading this this morning I went in and logged it all best I could + the maintenance calorie gap. Sometimes I don’t worry about this as it’s better for my mental health. Sometimes I go back and log it for the same reasons.
I really appreciated this tip!4 -
Oh, no worries! I sometimes don’t come back and check this for a few days anyway Thank you!! I had wondered if YouTube videos would be helpful. I’ve been following along with the videos Yoga with Adrian puts up monthly and I’m loving it! I can tell my posture is better day to day instead of just when I keep proper form for lifts. My first goal is to have a strong core, I’m only 13m pp from baby number 3 so I have a ways to go but I’m excited to have this goal to work on! Good to know that with time and consistency I can reach these goals too! After a month of consistent practice I can already hold certain poses for much longer than when I started.
Check out Boho Beautiful-her yoga workouts are amazing. I also like Yoga with Kassandra.3 -
i can put on and take off my engagement ring without having to put lotion on first! its amazing that barely 10 lbs made this possible.18

I'm just getting started, but I've lost 13 lbs, so far, got 20 more to go and I cannot believe how much better my achey knees are feeling! Thank you, Jesus...I'm gonna keep a goin'!

Once was LOST now is FOUND files:
About 10 or more years ago, I found the most GORGEOUS earrings/necklace/bracelet set at a flee market. This was my most precious set (even though I spent about $25.00 for the set), it was so beautiful I got compliments galore EVERYTIME I wore it. It was so beautiful and versatile I could wear it dressed up or casual. Very ethnic looking set so wonderful and then...about 6 years ago--it was GONE. I searched high and low for years for this necklace and gave up searching for it about 4 or so years ago. Flash forward to this morning. One of my daughter's was looking for something and we all ganged up to help her try to find it.
I went into her room and pulled out a box on top of her armoire--the item wasn't there, BUT GUESS WHAT WAS THERE?!? My NECKLACE--at the bottom of her junk box!!!! It was broken in two BUT THERE MY NECKLACE WAS AFTER ALL THESE YEARS!!!! My daughter said "I don't know how it got there, I'm so sorry mother".
One of my sons said "I fix it mom...I'll go to JoAnn's and see if they have something to fix it." (Such a son...SUCH A SON) He went there, got some stuff and FIXED IT--almost as good as new (was missing one bead and I used an old bracelet to replace the missing bead, it didn't match 100%, but looks GREAT--I have it on now). All this to say, what a super NSV, because I immediately thought about this weight blastification adventure (and a lot of other stuff), I'd missed/looked for this necklace for YEARS--and just gave up even thinking about finding it. After all these years--I 100% gave up EVER finding it. ( FYI, I ALWAYS kept in in my jewelry drawer, ALWAYS and felt CRAZY not being able to find it). Asked everyone if they saw it for years--everyone said no and BOOM...there it is (Thank you LORD). This weight blastification AND other REAL and SERIOUS issues in our lives that "seem" and even maybe hopeless is NOT. Like a lot of things in our lives--it just takes time, once more BOOM and super ultra mega YAY--I got my necklace back!12 -
I did my first bike ride today as a ride leader. It was great as half the participants were children, my main target audience. Fun times (and the scary bit of meeting new people was okay).
Once the house is to a livable standard and we've moved in, I shall arrange some more.
I now have a lurid purple room and a white room (undercoat as the room was vivid red, of all colours) that tomorrow shall become a blue room. Also planned is another (different) blue room, a pale brown/cream and pale plum hallway and a not-quite-sure-yet lounge/diner.
Happy days!14 -
I can trim my toenails without wheezing for breath and taking breaks between each toe.22

Went back to my hometown for the 4th and saw people I haven't seen in the months. Several people were shocked and could not stop talking about how great I looked! One even joked they should let their son know I was back in town.
I also brought a suitcase filled with old clothes to give to my sister since they don't fit anymore. It felt great to get rid of those, but I need to go shopping soon since I'm running out of clothes, haha.11 -
@NewLIFEstyle4ME, I LOVE your necklace story!!!1

Several NSVs this last week:
1) I put on a pair of jeans I haven't worn in a while, and they are most definitely getting loose.
2) A friend at church told me I was looking really good. (I see her at the gym, so she knows I'm working at my weight and it wasn't just a general compliment.)
3) And the biggest one for me - This year my fitness goal is to be able to do real burpees. Prior to this year, my modification has just to step back, step forward, and stand or sometimes do the jump at the end. I've been working at jumping my feet back and forward instead of stepping. On Saturday morning I went to a class at the gym and I did 5 of those in a row! Previously, I have only ever done 2 or 3 in a row. And then I did quite a few more throughout the class, although not that many in a row again.19 -
I'm not big into running but my wife enjoys it thoroughly. This usually means I end up running a few 5ks and at least one 10k each year. This past Thursday we did our first 5k since the birth of our son in December so it was my wife's first race postpartum and my first pushing our little guy in a stroller. Other than the ~1.5 mile run the weekend before to get a feel for the stroller I believe the last time I ran any considerable distance was February of 2018. Thursday I was able to run the 5k in <30min with the stroller. I know not a blazing fast time but the attainable goal I'd set for this race.17

I just put on a pair of pants I haven't been able to wear in over a year, and they fit comfortably.16

I have an eight day streak going on the bicycle. My longest streak so far this year (and longest since breaking my ankle last year) and my goal is to ride every day in July.
They completed a bike trail around a lake near me about 4 miles around the lake so was able to ride the new trail the past three days. The first day I rode over 10 miles to get there by a round about way using bike paths. I used about the same route the next day but was able to find a better way to get to the path without having to ride on the shoulder of a busy road. So this may become a new bike route for me to take. There are rumors that eventually we will have a official bike path to connect this park to other trails so that will be great.
