I had 17 miles in the plan for today. In the last week, I've had 2 runs where I struggled a whole lot to keep BG from being low. So I planned ahead today. I planned ahead too much, and was skyrocketing nearly as soon as I started running. I topped out in the upper 200's mg/dl (yes, this is really high for me) and had what I thought was runner's stomach. Since it didn't go away and lingers even now that I've stopped running for hours, I'm wondering if I'm actually sick. Anyway, I had decided to cut my run short and am logging only 13.72 miles. I'm hoping I feel better soon because I don't have time to be sick.

Sorry about your bad run, but I see you settled on a new name.1 -
Had a lazy (and hot!) Friday and Saturday so here is where I'm at:
7/1 - 2 mi
7/2 - 1 mi
7/3 - 2 mi
7/4 - 1 mi
7/7 - 3 mi
Total: 9/25
Tonight, I decided to wait out the heat and ran around 8pm. I was so glad I did - it felt beautiful out, very dry and probably in the low 70s. I haven't done 3 straight miles at this kind of pace in probably 8 or 9 months so I was really happy with the run!
Ready to conquer week 2.8 -

Good call. We had very similar weather... was hoping to go for several 5k lake loops, but only barely made it through one, because my daughter was joining me on her bike for loop #1 and I could tell just by looking at her that this was a bad idea. It should've been an easy ride for her, and it definitely wasn't. So we went swimming instead. It was like muddy bath water. So after 5k run, 500m swim, I took a shower at the bath house and announced "I'm not running today". Today I feel like I'm coming down with something, so I'm going to take it easy
July goal 100 miles

I'm off to Italy for 2 weeks, then London for a week starting tomorrow so I will have to see how the running goes! I'm planning a few hikes during the trip too, so running will be what it will be. I'll see how it goes.
Today's run: 4km, 25:28
July Total: 12k
July Goal: 50k8 -

Meet Tomatan, a wearable robot that feeds you tomatoes as you run
Only the Japanese!
I'm a huge fan of tomatoes but it has never occurred to me nor have I had the urge to eat one while running. I wonder if you could make it dispense chocolate or ice cream or something that you'd actually want to eat while you're out pounding the streets.
But 8kg though.7 -
Contemplating my next long run today (and digesting my breakfast), here are a couple more NZ photos..
Waikato River run on 6/26 in Hamilton from Hamilton gardens:
Lake Karapiro run on 6/29:
Mountain biking in the Redwoods (my friend thought it pretty funny that she’d take someone from the US to the Redwoods!):
The 12+ hour workdays were a bit less scenic...
Are you enjoying your visit! Chilly but love the pics3 -
So. Tired.
Ran 5k this morning, then was on my own for the first time in Ed. I was absolutely flat out. Feet hurt.
LOVED IT!5 -
Thinking of everyone in SoCal. Earthquakes are scary0
-
You'll have to come to New Plymouth so we can go for a run together!

5k at midnight again, ran a new neighborhood which should count as hill work! No fireworks tonight but we did hear owls. Lots of woods nearby.6
-
@katharmonic That's crazy. All I can see is tomato juice all over my shirt and mouth. I just can't imagine the bees and insects that would attract when mixed with sweat! Yuck! Don't think I'll be trying that anytime soon!
@NiigataA Enjoy your trip!

8.25 miles this morning. 81F freakin' degrees at 5am. Ridiculous. So made a conscious effort to keep it slow, and it actually didn't feel so bad.

I'm aiming for 2km per day.....I'm not really a runner but I have been getting up at 6am every morning well 6 days a week and running just 15-20 minutes to try to reduce my body fat more. I'm 41 and am aiming to get into my best every shape this year. I'm putting it out there as it motivates me to keep going if I have publicly stated! I work for myself as a personal trainer, single mum of 3 and want to be an inspiration to others.
Love this thread!
Julia
If getting up at 6AM six mornings a week and running doesn't make you a runner, I don't know what does! Welcome!
Side note: watch out for the mods editing your post to remove that link - I believe outside links like that are verboten, even if it's free.4 -

Welcome to @minniemouse0209 and @jcammoile !!
Congrats on the push-ups @MegaMooseEsq! Feels good, doesn't it?
@Avidkeo and @simcon1 Nice pics! Both look like beautiful places to run.
I am impressed daily by my TX people out running in the heat. You guys are tough!! I'm going to blame my red hair. Apparently the MC1R gene that gives hair the red hue also has been linked to temperature sensitivity, with redheads feeling both hot and cold temperatures more extremely than non redheads. It also means we need less Vitamin D, have a higher pain tolerance, and require more anesthesia/sedation.6 -
Forgot to put in my run yesterday. It was too hot to be outside. Treadmill again.
I have recently started listening to podcasts while I run. When I am outside I usually listen to nothing, but the treadmill get super boring and I start having to bargain with myself after a mile or 2 just to keep going. I used to listen to music, but running several days a weeks for a few months means hearing a lot of the same music. I hate messing with my phone or skipping songs while I am running. I like to set it and forget it. Podcasts are a nice change of pace. I usually pick funny ones and it sort of feels like having a good conversation with a friend while running - really helps the time move.
7/1: 3.5 miles

Didn't know that one. I do have a TON of hair. It's so heavy!!2 -
@martaindale ... Where do you live? I'm one of those TX runners... You just have to get out early morning to catch anything under 80 degrees. My running partner (hubby) had red hair (mostly gray now) and blue eyes. But he is Texas born and raise, that men can handle heat better than me. The genetic world is against you for running in hot weather (female, red hair and fair skin) . Stay cool my friend and keep on running2

No running at the weekend but more hiking with a bit of wild swimming thrown in.
We are still having summer. This is at least day fifteen of British summer. Climate change....
I have a run planned for after work tomorrow, but it gets pretty hot by the end of the day so it's a slow one (yes, I know, it won't be THAT hot). I also have new shoes....but I won't wear them until I've remembered to take a picture of them and posted here!
@Teresa502 I've started Stand-up paddle boarding too! I live very close to an inland harbour so there are regular sessions. It's a good core workout and surprisingly easy to balance on the board!
@rheddmobile are you Jessica Fletcher? Sounds like lots of trouble follows you around But seriously, doesn't sound like fun being in the thick of it. Thankfully the only time I hear gunshot here is during pheasant and grouse season.

Mines a strawberry blonde, it’s also graying. My dd has that dishwater blonde and our hair dresser said she’s never seen so much hair. It doesn’t help that it’s down to her backside either. I had hoped hers would turn a bit red, but I guess it’s not going to. Mine is currently very unruly and I can’t decide to let it grow out or cut it.
What do y’all think? Haha!10 -
@Elise4270 I think you are perfect just the way you are 😘4
