Plenty, the last race is a night time race, a glow run. I could take a nap in between the 3rd and fourth races and still have time for dinner. I should be able to run all for, and as is my tradition with multiple races going to try and PR all 4!
**Note: PastorVincent might not be right in the head, and his race/running strategy might not be the best one to follow
Having never run one, a night-time race never entered my mind. I'm relieved for you, that you don't have to choose between them. I was thinking that around here, most races start at near enough the same time that *I'd* never be able to complete one and get to the next site before gun time.
**Note: Just because I'd try to PR all 4 races, too, doesn't mean I'm trying to emulate any other runner on these forums. Any resemblance to another runner's strategy is purely coincidental.2 -

Night races are fun. The course will be lit, at least sections of it, with Tiki torches, and we will be wearing glow necklaces/bracelets. No sun means no need for sunscreen even for those really fair skinned. A bit more of a party atmosphere, but I will be running a race no matter what others are doing.2 -
My goal is 60 miles this month. I think that I ran 57 miles last month... so not an unreachable goal.
July 1....4.26 miles (Monon trail)
July 2....4.66 miles (Monon trail)
July 5...4.17 miles (Monon trail).
July 6....2.03 miles (treadmill).
July 8...5.22 miles (Monon trail)
July 10...2.4 miles (treadmill). Usually try to workout for a half hour after my shift at work. I got stuck in the elevator trying to go to the fitness center there. Once I was able to get out of the elevator (probably stuck for 5 minutes), I reported it to our maintenance department, and had thoughts about just skipping the workout and going home. Then I thought, "No...you are using this as an excuse", and proceeded to workout. It was a good workout, but my mind was still on that elevator.
Total: 22.74 miles
Goal: 60 miles.
One more shift. I can't wait for some time off.

Today's notes – It's been a tough few days.
I was dead tired July 4 evening, and didn't even hear the fireworks at night. Didn't think much about it, because I had a short night's sleep the night before and worked pretty hard running a race in heat and humidity; but by late Friday it was obvious I was sick. Right when it was too late to call the doctor and get in before the weekend.
Weird fever, sometimes high, sometimes low, sometimes dangerously high. No respiratory symptoms. No digestive tract symptoms, other than suppressed appetite. Awful fatigue, as in take several naps a day and don't even think about running. Monday morning I had no fever and did my normal rest day exercises; then the fever came back. Called the doctor. My daughter intervened and insisted I should not drive myself there. She was probably right. By the 4 PM appointment, the fever was mild and I felt as good as I had since 9:30 AM; but the fever was still high enough to be a concern.
Produce a urine sample. Go have blood drawn. Go home, and daughter stays over in case the fever goes where it went the night before; the doctor's words for that temperature were "you should be in a hospital." Temperature didn't go there. Woke with a normal temp, but fatigue like a low grade fever. Daughter got up, and I told her, "Congratulations, you're not a jogger." Puzzled look; she is not a runner. "You didn't find a dead body this morning." She laughed.
Tuesday the fever was more subdued, possibly because I got smart enough to stay on naproxen continually. Some test results came in; consistent with something viral. If I hadn't been feeling better, the doctor would have ordered more tests. Some of the scary possibilities got ruled out. I could do activities of daily living, but didn't have enough energy to mow the lawn.
Today I woke with a normal temp, feeling normal. Did my normal morning exercises. That didn't push me back into a fever. Mowed the lawn. It was warm and humid, but I wasn't debilitated. Decided I was healthy enough to go out for a short (3 mile) group run. 88° F and 67° dew point was miserable weather, didn't feel like running fast. Probably could have handled 5 miles, but I knew I wasn't going to feel like going out again once I got back to base. My friend Jim offered a route adjustment to add some distance, maybe a half mile. It was a little more, but I knew the area well enough to know it wouldn't be too much, and the adjustment would be almost entirely in the shade. Good enough.
So that's how I had a ridiculously short run today, but feel pretty good about being able to run even that far. I just had 5 days off running in a row, and it wasn't because of injury. One of the possibilities the doctor mentioned was that I could get better and we never figure out what this was. Right now, that looks like where I'm headed.
I have a half marathon on Saturday, and I haven't run that far since coming back from the stress fracture. Should be interesting; I don't expect a great time, but will be happy if I manage the distance well.

I went to marathon/HM group tonight but only did a base run and not the planned speedwork, because I race on Sunday, and I did the Monday workout, and I am SUPER SORE from going rock climbing last night. It was so fun, but man, my legs and arms are surprisingly sore. I said no more legs this week but I hadn't anticipated that my legs would be pretty involved in rock climbing. I've also done some kind of pretty strenuous workout every day since the 4th, so I'm ready for tomorrrow's planned rest day.5 -
5.28 miles today. Plan was for 8, but started having low BG again and decided to just quit rather than keep treating. Oh, and it was raining. I wore my Patagonia Houdini rain jacket that the reviews say breathes so as not to get swamped out. The reviews are wrong. I may as well have just not worn a jacket. At least that way, I would be cooler and soaked rather than just soaked.

From mid-June to late September almost all the races we have round here are late afternoon/early evening. I find, even though I always train early in the morning, that I really enjoy watching the sun set during races and finishing in darkness.0 -

7/9: 6.23 miles

Today's run was awesome! It was one of my best runs ever. I just felt great the whole time. It has been so hot lately. But this morning it was only 73°F with 81% humidity and a dew point of 67°. You wouldn't think that there would be that much difference between 67° and 71° dew points, but there was. I was surprised that I was able to run as fast as I did the last two days, but I figured that even with it being a little cooler than yesterday I would be slow and tired today. Usually by my 3rd day in a row of running I am feeling a little tired. So I wasn't expecting a bad run, but I was kind of expecting a mediocre run. But everything just came together and the run was fantastic. I got up pretty easily and was able to get out the door a little early. My niece was having her first baby, we thought yesterday, but she didn't arrive until this morning at 5:06. I had texted my sister when I got up and found out that she was born just about 10 minutes before I texted. So during the run I kept getting lots of text notifications. I think it kind of made me run faster because I wanted to check my messages, but I didn't want to stop during my run so I just ran faster. While it wasn't really cool, it was much nicer than it has been the last two days and I noticed that my first mile was faster than usual and then the next two miles were under 10 minutes. At that point I kind of started trying to run faster. I was running at a comfortably hard pace and managed to bring mile 4 in even faster than 2 and 3. Mile 5 was slower, but still a little faster than mile one and by that time I knew I was on track for a 10K PR so I really started to push it. Mile 6 was my fastest mile and I did end up with a 10K PR, a 1 mile PR, a 1/2 mile PR and a 1K PR. Needless to say I was pretty excited about it. Then I got home and finally got to see a picture of my great niece and did some nice relaxing, stretchy yoga. So my day so far has been really good. I hope that these endorphins don't wear off for a while and I hope y'all all have great runs and great days too.

0711-5.2k total-34.5k, goal-100k
It has been a loooong week at work. Finally found the time tonight to go out for a run. Spent an entire 3km warming up before I felt better, and then the rest of the run went swimmingly. I'm hoping to get another run in tomorrow night, and then a long run over the weekend so I don't (technically) miss any runs this week.
Runner's World sent me a report on Chinese trail runner Yao Miao today - quite interesting to see through the eyes of a Western journalist, since she's quite famous in the circles I run in (pun intended). Was thinking about her during my run today, how she says that "everyone has to go to work". I'm too sleepy to put it into words right now.7 -

Congrats on your PR, and your new great niece @kgirlhart!

I got pretty mad at you during my run today. Ran with music yesterday to get it out of my head and today one podcast ended and that song came right into my head, lined up with my footfalls. Aaaaargh! I'm going crazy over here!

I'm way behind on the posts again. Missed 100! Sorry guys. I'm the world's worst at keeping up lately. Hopefully things will calm down in August and I can do better.
It was raining her today, so I did my run on the treadmill. I went down with the intention of doing at least 3 miles and hoping to do more, if I felt like it. I also started out at an unsustainable pace, so had to adjust. Remember, I am slow. I ran 2 minutes at 5.5 mph, then 3 at 5.0 mph for the first 6 minute segment. Then I did 5/1 minutes at 5.0/3.7 mph until I reached 3 miles. At that point, I felt it prudent to slow down a little more, so slowed to 4.5/3.7 mph. Keep up the 5/1 minute intervals until I reached 5 miles running!!!! That's the farthest I've gone in many, many years - like maybe 6 years. I was proud, even though it did take me 1:04:31. With my warm up and long cool down walk, I did a 10K - 6.214 miles, in 1:25:03.
I have a work conference tomorrow and Saturday, so both will probably be rest days.13 -

Great workout!!1 -
SO I am going to do it. I am meeting with a "certified personal fitness trainer" and going to attempt, again, an anti-t-rex plan.
I have run 5 marathons and 2 ultramarathons. Many weeks I put in 50-60 miles. BUT Should I ever trip and fall in a hole, I am not confident I can pull myself back out! Besides it would also be nice to, you know, do at least ONE pull up in my life.
So we will see. I need to make myself stick to it somehow. That really is the greatest challenge to overcome in this.12 -
@PastorVincent I guess I'm not the only one that gained inspiration from the pull up/push up goals of others. I'm trying to do the odd set of push ups now and then. I want to avoid old lady t-rex arms.4
