Well, it's a good thing I work from home, because I'm going to be humming that all day.1 -
I'd planned on running to the gym today, but I had a hard time getting to sleep last night because my left hamstring was yelling at me until I took a couple of IB, then I slept in because I had stress dreams about taking a test (ARG!!) so I'm thinking the universe might be suggesting a rest day. I'm scheduled to give blood at 1 tomorrow, but there's a 10-11 class at the gym which fingers crossed should give me plenty of time for my blood pressure to go back down. And if I don't make it, I don't make it.

Took a few days off after last week’s race because I was sore. I’m trying out an 8 week summer maintenance plan. I designed it to start Sunday, end Saturday and do 4/3/4/bike/4/6/Rest. So about 21 miles per week with Monday being a Pace Run and Friday being a “long run”. Was supposed to run 4 yesterday but I had a late start and only had time to do 2 plus the heat Index was 98 and I didn’t want to get overheated, especially since I had to travel for work last night.

I had a great run today. It was almost the exact same run as yesterday. I ran 6.25 miles. The temperature was 78°F with 79% humidity and dew point of 71° so it was a little warmer but a little less humid than yesterday. The dew point was the same. Because of the heat, I was really expecting a difficult run, but I felt really good throughout the whole run.

Where is the Groundhog Race? It’s my favorite day of the year. Would love to run a Groundhog Day Race.0 -
Pushed harder today, but for fewer miles. 30 seconds faster per mile than yesterday's awesome 7 miles. I may need an intervention to run more of those slower miles I keep reading are so good for me. The trouble is: I want to just hop on the treadmill and push the button with the 6 on it. I can only keep that up for about 1/2 a mile, just yet. Or intervals - every 3rd minute or so seems to work out ok. 12 minute miles are too slow (probably a really good pace to benefit me, actually, but I am not happy there) and there's not a button for 11 minute miles (which is challenging enough that I probably shouldn't park there, anyway) and I'm glad that I'm at least limiting the miles, since I clearly haven't got enough self-restraint not to go and injure myself.
So far, so good.
Tomorrow I shall honor the rest day. Friday, I intend to run 7 miles, again, but a little slower - maybe 11:15 as a target? There are a few seconds of coming-up-to-speed that make the first mile not exactly the time the display indicates, and 11:15 doesn't correspond to any setting on the machine, so I'll get to do math and play with the buttons. I know this is an unpopular sentiment, but I really love my treadmill.
@Scott6255 I am in favor of the idea of planting some trees. I just read an article that claimed we could fix all the climate woes if we planted enough of them. Just not another Birch overhanging the pool - there's SO MUCH DEBRIS. I wonder if the raspberry brambles and blueberry plants "count" as better oxygen converters than the weeds that would otherwise grow in my yard...
@PastorVincent Do you have enough time to run the earlier Saturday race and get to the location for the later one? I'd like to hear more about how you intend to resolve the conflict.

@Lazy_Bones_85 It was in Abilene. It was ok, but not very well organized. There were no finishers medals and only 2 age groups. I think they were 38 and under and 39 and up or something like that. There was a nice shirt, but I probably wouldn't run it again. I don't mind not getting a medal for a 5K, but I think if you run a half marathon you should get a medal for it. And the course was also short. It was only 12.78 miles.0

July goal 100 miles
Took it easy for 5k today. It was kinda hot but not too bad. Saw a bunch of kids out on bikes; they seemed more hot and tired than I was!
I *might* sign up for a duathlon next month (6.2 mile run / 15 mile bike / 2 mile run) Kinda depends on if a friend is doing it. I did cycle yesterday afternoon, but need to build my distance up a bit (when I'm not traveling, that is) if I decide to do it.5 -

Plenty, the last race is a night time race, a glow run. I could take a nap in between the 3rd and fourth races and still have time for dinner. I should be able to run all for, and as is my tradition with multiple races going to try and PR all 4!
**Note: PastorVincent might not be right in the head, and his race/running strategy might not be the best one to follow

July 5 – 22 miles cycling
July 6 – 10 miles + SUP

July 8 – 5 miles + 30 min weights + 10.3 miles cycling after work
July 9 – 30 min stretching + 30 min lower body weights
July 10 – 5.07 miles + 45 min yoga
Total – 34.34 running miles (Goal 110 miles)
Last run before my half marathon on Saturday. Warm up, hill repeats and cool down. Lots of strange characters out this morning for some reason. Luckily there were 5 of us running and at different paces so we were spread out on the half-mile hill but within sight of at least one among us.
The half on Saturday is named The Scream and is held in the mountains of North Carolina so I think it will be a little cooler weather. It’s a downhill course and the tag line is “13.1 Miles of Pure Hill.” I’ve run it once before and I remember my quads being sore for days afterwards. I am hoping to get a long bike ride in on Sunday but we’ll see how the legs feel.

@zamirasoni - Current projections have us on the East side of the landfall of the storm, but the East side usually has higher rain fall and with that comes possibility of flooding. The Mississippi River in New Orleans is projected to reach 20.0 feet on Sunday - the highest is has ever been. The levees in New Orleans are built to 20 feet, so hopefully no levee breech. This is what happened with Hurricane Katrina.
Thunderstorms are suppose to begin this afternoon and continue through Sunday night. Which means no running
