What the best meal you've ever had? and what's your shoe size?
I've had a lot of good meals, but one that sticks out lately was from The Deckhand in Austin. Everything was great but the La Frontera Oysters were especially awesome. We really need to go visit our daughter again.
I wear a size 8 in most shoes and a 9.5 in running shoes.
@myraluno Welcome! You can set your goal anyway you like. Many of us here, including me, started out with C25K. A big welcome also to @JMNagain , @jwisdom80 and @pickle107. And good to see you back @ariceroni, @teerai and @skippygirlsmom . And anyone else I might have missed.

I'm aiming to do 80 miles this month 😁4

Morning!
It's the 1st August today. And bitterly cold here. I want to make August the month I finally get into a routine but My monthly resolve is already wavering. We definitely can't move into our new home until the 5th September, have to be out of this house on 14th August, so looks like this month is going to be a bit unsettled. I hate knowing it's going to be unsettled sigh.
I have a day off work today. My plan is to go for a run along the foreshore - I'm both excited and nervous. Been a couple of weeks since I last ran, and it's cold and wet. But WWMS (what would Moby say)!
Oh and I've officially been hanging out with you guys for a year, so there's that.16 -
I checked online today at Academy and they were $99 which is better than $120 but $80 - I'm jealous!0 -

*hugs* Moving is a lot of work, so you definitely deserve to cut yourself some slack. Run if the mood strikes, and if it doesn't, the road will still be there after you get unpacked.3 -

Thanks! And so true. One thing that's helped this month is reading everyone's stories. So this year has been a bit up and down as far as my goals go, it's only 1 year. In 5, 10, 20 when I look back I'm not going to remember the missed run opportunities, I'm going to remember this as the year we moved closer to family, how happy I am in my new job (long may that last) and how fantastic it is to see my kids blossom in our new community. It will be a blip on the radar.
Oh and I will remember it as another successful maintainance at just slightly overweight bahaha.
PS by that I mean I have to keep reminding myself how happy I am at a size 10 (size 8 US) and how greatful I'm no longer an 187 -
Well got out and did 4k. Good start to the month. Now going to play squash with Hubby.
As I left, there was a really dark cloud extending out from our mountain and it looked like a storm brewing. I thought, Moby would say get out there, you never know what weather you will have on race day.
Then I saw this

Want some exciting news @avidkeo? A NZ 10 is usually a US 6* Size Six!!!
And boo hiss about the two week gap between houses. How about booking a fortnight somewhere warm? (I know, I know, if only... it's a good idea though, right?)5 -
Compare yourself now to 10, 20 and 30 years ago. What improvements do you love? What do you look forward too? What do you miss and how do you deal with that? Follow up with what would your 15 year old self think of you today.
30 years ago I was 8, so I was being a kid. Reading a ton. Playing outside.
20 years ago I was 18, finishing my freshman year of college. Enjoying my freedom. I was generally pretty healthy and all the walking around campus probably helped with that.
10 years ago I was 28, in my third year of residency, and my daughter was about to turn 1. Other than being the heaviest weight of my life, I was generally happy with my life. It was super stressful but I was exactly where I wanted to be. My life timeline went exactly like I planned. The next few years things got a lot rougher but have gotten much better in the past 5 years or so.
My 15 year old self wouldn’t be too surprised by my life today. I have the career I always planned on. I live large city adjacent. Having grown up in tiny towns, I always wanted to live in a bigger city. I think she would be surprised I have a kid. I never really thought I would have kids. Also, I think she would be impressed by the shape I’m in. I was never much of a runner growing up and never even knew people did rock climbing.
what the best meal you've ever had? and what's your shoe size?
Best meal is just too hard. I immediately think of so many amazing things. I wear an 8.5 US in regular shoes and a 9.5 US in running shoes and a 39.5 in climbing shoes.
Edit because I though 10 years ago was 11 years ago. Time flies when you’re having fun!5 -
This is just the motivation I need. I'm in for 21 miles for August.10

Ohhh I thought it was an 8 bahaha
Mmmm a fortnight somewhere warm sounds amazing. Finally actually feels like winter here lol.2 -
I'm in for 105 miles in August, Training plan calls for 109 but I had to run tomorrow's run today (July 31) due to an all-day work commitment so I'm not going to punish myself for having to rearrange my days.
I signed up for a 15K on October 19. I am also trying to lose some weight. On top of this, I will be traveling for work 14 out of 16 days from August 4-19, then will be joining the in-laws on the Jersey Shore the last week of the month. So what possibly could go wrong with a high volume running plan, coupled with a caloric deficit, while only being home for what will seem like 4 hours the entire month? But I was able to order 6 pairs of my beloved Saucony Kineta Relay running shoes. And one of the hotels I'll be staying at later this month has a 9ft deep swimming pool so I can act like a child and do back flips all afternoon. I sometimes pick hotels solely based on their pool depth.
This was me yesterday morning acting like a fool:

@Lazy_Bones_85 - great picture!
I don't like the amount of chlorine in most hotel pools so I usually pick them by running trails nearby 😁1 -
A short, slow slog of a run to get the month started. This new part of my life as a female is certainly bringing some surprises, including a new mid-cycle mega-bloat that makes it a struggle to drag myself out of bed let alone out for a run. Still, the suck was embraced and the plod was completed. Luckily I have plenty of mental fortitude. Think that will come in handy as my body starts to fall apart 😁
August goal: 90km. Run so far: 4.04km.12 -

That isn't the Peachtree Classic 15K by any chance, is it? I am running that race with my brother and his family.3 -
