@Machka9 I know you are ready for winter to be over. I’m the exact opposite; please let summer end so we can move to fall and winter. I don’t handle the heat anymore. Louisville, KY is supposed to see the 90s the next couple of days.
For the benefit of our newbies (welcome!!), I’ Connie in KY. I was 55 this past week, and I’m a single mom to an almost 16 year old daughter. To make sure she would be cared for if something should happen to me, her godfathers are also technically her parents. We count a very large and interesting extended family. My daughter and I live with one dad’s mom. I joke that she is my mother-in-law by proxy. She is a stroke survivor as is my mom. I care for her, my mom and my mom’s sister. Somehow I still find time to work full time as an instructor at the local community college. My daughter is also an aspiring ballerina.
I currently weigh 201.6 lbs, down from 268 in November 2018. Most recent non-scale victory - I saw these really nice maroon slacks size 18 and they fit!!
Stay safe if you are on the Southeast coast!! Dorian looks nasty!!

Today is the second day of spring!!
We won't likely see 90F (32C) more than about half a dozen times when summer comes, and not likely on consecutive days. We occasionally get that high for about 2 hours on a Tuesday afternoon ... then it drops like a rock to a chilly 17C by the time I get out of work and can enjoy it. About 2 pm, I'm thinking ... "Yes, we'll go to the beach this evening and walk in the water." By 5 pm, I'm thinking ... "Nope!" And then the next 3 days it struggles to reach 15C ... and on Saturday, when I can be outside all day, it pours rain.
That's summer down here ... but it's better than winter!
Meanwhile, thinking about spring cleaning ... some tips to spring clean your computer!

Lynda so sorry for your loss.
I am lucky in that when my husband passed I had my daughter still living at home so I wasn't completely on my own, but can understand the anxiety and depression and the comfort eating! I admire you for getting back on track, something I haven't managed to do successfully yet, but I'm working on it.
Heard on the news about "Dorian" hope no one here is in its path.
Love to all

Started MFP in 2008 at 165!. Got down to 140, then fell off wagon for years. Came back, got back down to the 140-145 range, aiming for 109.
Worked 30 years for an international shipping and logistics company (if you bought it at Wal~Mart or Home Depot it may have come in on one of our ships) doing pricing/regulatory work then finally pc and network support since I was the only one stubborn enough to get the computers to do what I wanted them to do.
Born in SF, lived in the East Bay, then Ukiah, then back to the East Bay for 45 years. Job moved us to Boise Idaho in '97.
Retired in '16, moved to 15 vertical acres and a doublewide on the Southern Oregon Coast in '18. Spoiled now, hard to imagine living anywhere with near neighbors.
CI WAY over CO, could that be why I've ballooned back up to 149? Naaaaahhhhh :NOWAY:

If any of you are on Strava, they're having a challenge in September ... I'm going to give it a go. It starts tomorrow.
https://www.strava.com/challenges/the-escape-plan
Get moving 5 days a week for 4 consecutive weeks - all activity types count
(Minimum of 15 minutes of elapsed time per activity)
Machka in Oz
We walked between pilates and my work ... and took 12 minutes to do it. Just short.
So after work, we went for a walk outside ... our first walk outside in ages!! It was twilight and almost completely dark when we got home. Just a short walk - only 17 minutes - but enough for the challenge! I've got 1 of the 5 days I need this week.

Barbara So glad you are posting regularly again. What is a vertical acre? does it have to do with vertical farming? Or something having to do with coastline jargon? Or none of the above?

rori I will keep you and your family in my thoughts. You have a lot on your plate. Dementia is exhausting on everyone. I hope the reiki helps.
machka My heart goes out to you and your husband. I am glad, though, for the degree to which he's recovered from his tbi.
viv if there's any way I can help you move forward, please let me know.
Seems like there are many caregivers here. 💟3 -

Some of you remember that I have been making a daily call to my cousin who lives in a nursing home on the east coast. I've called her regularly since my mother died in 1991 and upped the calls to daily when she moved to the nursing home. The calls had gotten shorter in the last few months and when I called on Saturday they said that she was "declining" and was on oxygen and couldn't talk. When I called yesterday they told me that had died. It will be strange to not call every day but for her, it was a blessing. She was 96 years old and had been telling me for 20 years that no one should live past age 70.

My brief bio: My DH and I live in suburbs north of nyc. I’m a long term music educator (orchestra)
We are New empty nesters as our lovely daughter is finishing her last year at state university. My job is stress inducing but am trying to stay positive as I head toward retiring in the next few years.
I putter a little in my garden, love meal prep, and a little exercise everyday. Also love reading improving books and blogs and am starting to enjoy travel especially as it is one of my DHs dreams to visit fascinating places of historical significance. So our focus is to stay healthy and enjoy our next chapter of life, whatever that may bring.
Being a part of this group has always been a source of information, support and humor for me.

Loving the pictures.
Lynda I am sorry for your loss.
Praying for those in the path of Dorian.1 -
I love reading all of the bios and introductions. I have been visiting this family of ladies since April 2018 and I learn something new every time these are posted.
I am 50 until Sept 13, when I celebrate my birthday with my Grandson who will be 8. He is my eldest grandchild and has a younger sister Michaela who will be 4 in January. My husband and I have been married 32 years and have two daughters Lauryn (my grandchildren’s Mom) and Kaitlyn who just got married this summer.
I started using MFP in 2011 and lost around 30lbs by Nov 2012, my Dad was dying of cancer and I couldn’t stop myself from eating. I then tried to eat my way out of a depression for the next couple of years. In February 2018 I started actively trying to lose weight again starting at 202 lbs. I had gotten as low as 175 by June of this year but have since regained 10 lbs. I am currently suffering from an injury that is waylaying my exercise and I have not been limiting my food intake to make up the difference.
I have just started a job that I love, working as an Office Coordinator in a nursing home. I am hoping and praying that this will be where I retire from, I love it so much.
I read all of the posts on here and used to comment to everyone but find it difficult now to keep up with work and wanting to spend time with my husband in the evenings. I also have found typing on my phone is causing me wrist issues that I can’t afford to have. I am hoping to get DH a new laptop for Christmas which will help my situation as I will takeover his old one.

We are heading out for a shorter ride this morning. Probably going to go about 10-15 miles. Then it’s home to prep carne asada for a late lunch with my kids and grands, if they all come.3

Nice being told you’re sexy at 7:30 in the morning with no make up sweaty and you’re just sitting there.10

Lynda: Thanks for adding in the need for medical directives as we put together our wills. That is a good idea that we hadn’t thought about. We have long held driver’s licenses that identify us as donors, but haven't put anything into place as healthcare directives.
Rhonda: Welcome to a great group. Your goals look very well chosen. I hope you will post often. :flowerforyou:
Lisa in AR: You and the rest of the women of 50+ have become important parts of my life, as well.
Ginny in OH: So sorry about the loss of your husband in 2015.
Machka: You are doing remarkably well dealing with personal injuries and life challenges. I admire all that you are able to do.
Heather: Enjoy your grandchildren and the chaos they bring. You are a lucky woman.
Barbara: DH is doing a little better. He’s lost a bit of excess weight and is gaining ground through physical therapy. He needs to move more and is talking about putting his terra-tryke into service. That will require a clean-up operation in the garage. I’ll happily pitch into that task.
Barbie: I am so sorry for the loss of your cousin. She seems to have lived a long life. I hope the balance was mostly good for her.
Happy Labor Day! My thanks go to workers everywhere who keep roads in order, stores, schools, medical facilities and businesses open.

Hello everybody and Hello September. I am from San Antonio and I work from home for the automotive industry. Because of that, I do not move too much all day and that is causing me to keep gaining weight. Also I think hormones must be playing with me .
Here are my goals for September and I will do as much as I can to obtain them.
1.- Complete 10K steps a day if not the total for the week = 70,000
2.- Take a shower in the mornings to be ready for work... Keep in mind that working from home it is easy to go from bed to brush my teeth and go to the desk :-( . I start my work day at 7 am and sometimes I prefer to sleep .
3.- Drink 3 bottles of water a day ( 24 oz) each. This is hard but I keep trying.
4- Get hormone test done.
Thanks for the support to keep me motivated. I will track how I feel and I really hope and work for getting my goals.

New month, but not feeling it. Just skimming. Worried about DH surgery tomorrow. My mind says all will be well but my anxiety/depression is in full swing.
