On Monday I had a routine check up for my inflammatory arthritis, which included a chest x-ray to confirm that my lungs aren't being affected by the medications I'm taking. Always been fine before, so thought no more about it.
Yesterday I got a call from the nurse who's involved with my care to state that there are some issues with the results. Firstly, I have two broken ribs. Secondly, there's an area of concern but they think it's just where I wasn't filling my lungs with air properly due to the broken ribs. More x-rays in 4-6 weeks' time to ensure that the opacity has cleared.
I can only assume that the collision I was in caused the broken ribs. A&E did not pick this up, despite doing a chest x-ray at the time. And that explains whys the pain I was in, especially when breathing in, seemed over the top in comparison to the injuries at that site.
I've been so desperate to get back into things, have a new bike (insurance paid out), new helmet, etc, I've been walking miles (15 on Monday, 12 on Tuesday, 8 yesterday) had a physio check me over on Monday (she also gave me clearance to start running, etc again) and now this.
But you know what? I'm just going to go with the flow on this. I'm hopefully going to talk to the physio again today just to check that I can do the things I'd planned to and if my plans have to be changed, so be it.
You are seriously inspiring to have been doing all that with broken ribs as well as so soon after such a nasty incident! you definitely deserve all the slack and I hope your physio doesn't change plans too much, whilst at same time I get that you will NOT wanna make anything worse injury wise.
Glad to hear you have a new bike etc4 -
This one is part victory and part pain!
Moved my Fitbit Alta strap to its tightest hole this morning because it’s not been working consistently due to being a bit loose.
I’m not quite halfway through my goal loss so I’m wondering if there’s more to come off my wrist!8 -
Picture on left was taken July 12 and the one on the right was taken September 3. I am also able to fit into clothes that wouldn’t even go past my hips at the beginning of summer.41 -
My "in progress" clothes that I bought a few months back are starting to look a bit frumpy. Fortunately, I can de-frumpify some of them because they are wrap dresses and I can tie them tighter, but there's only so far they can be tied before it starts lookin' weird.20

I went on a run with my best friend who has ALWAYS been much thinner and much more in shape than me. We ran two miles just chatting and catching up and not only was i not super winded at the end of it but SHE was the one that said she wanted to stop and walk the rest of the way. I never in my life would have thought that was possible.29

My NSV was a restaurant/fast food dilemma. You know that moment when you start to order, and you still don't know what choice is going to come out of your mouth? Poor choice or better choice? I had one of those moments this week. But, surprisingly, this time I went with the junior burger and small fry choice instead of the huge chicken strip dinner. Stayed within my daily calories and thoroughly enjoyed every bite.27

I would often buy clothes I wanted in the largest sizes the store had, and sometimes they still wouldn't fit me. I'd save them anyway, for "later". Later is now! Two of the shirts I couldn't even get on when I bought them now fit me. I can't wait until they're too big for me like the rest of my clothes.22

Lol....I can see my c section scar without a mirror 3 months post baby!!!24

A weird one... I order glasses off of a website as its fantastically less expensive. The styles are all fashionable enough, and I'll order 3-4 pairs every 2 years. I got a unique pair that I thought would have been a knockout 2 years ago, even sprung a little extra to get a light tint as I assumed these would be the one's I would wear most often. Unfortunately, when I did get them, they didn't quite look right on my face. They basically have sat unworn since then.
These are the glasses:

Since December, I lost about 70 pounds. One day, I couldn't find my regular pairs, so I just popped these guys on, and they look awesome now? I'm guessing it was the face changing, but I didn't think it would make such a difference. In fact, everyone else seems to love them too, I've gotten tons of complements.
Unfortunately, it's time to order new pairs, but I do keep old frames and get lenses changed when I go overseas, so I look forward to reviving these soon. I haven't gotten so many complements on glasses in recent memory.15 -
I am literally crying right now as I type this. When I was in my 20's I was like 350+ depression and just bad life can really do things if you are maladaptive. Now closing in on 34 I just walked a mile in under 16 mins..now you may do half that in your sleep but I still remember basically failing my fit test in college bc it took me 20 mins to walk half a mile. So to do a whole freaking mile under that I am just over the moon. I want the scale to do what I want but I think my rebounding over the years was because I failed to do the internal work and be patient. Like just shut up, do the work and repeat. Now to relax after hitting 5 workouts in one week, I haven't done that in 4 years.51

I was off for a few weeks because I have work + work-related education every day of the week except for Friday. I was under-eating because of the workload, until I found out that the school I'm working in offers catering lunch for an acceptable price. There are always about three options on the menu, and I (mostly) choose the healthiest option. The best part is that I know what I'll eat up front, so I can manage my breakfast and snacks accordingly.
I didn't step onto the scale until this morning, when I realized that I'm still at my lowest weight yet, despite not logging in everything I eat throughout the day. Which means that my portion control is under control22 -

A 16-minute walking mile is great! Nice and brisk. I walk a 15-minute mile and I pass a lot of runners when I do 5ks, lol (I walk the whole thing). Keeping up that pace can be tough.8 -
It's the end of an era. The stretchy yoga pants that I wore at my highest weight, and continued to wear while losing weight, are now too big. I kept having to hike them up while I was doing work around the house. They are also gaping a lot in the knees. I shall miss them, but not too much, lol.27

not real recent but within last few months. I can see the veins in my hands, arms and legs again ...it was all covered by fat before15

I ran my first half-marathon on Saturday! Definitely the best NSV I’ve had since starting this journey!

I found time for a long chat with my neighbour yesterday, After the general chit chat he asked if everything was okay, he was concerned I was ill having lost so much weight.15

I’ve found that my underwear is bigger and unfortunately my bras don’t fill out as well haha16

I went out for coffee this morning with a group of women from church. I noticed that AT LEAST half of the women present were the same size I am, or bigger. (None of them were extremely large.) This means I am no longer standing out from the crowd as "that fat woman." My husband says I never did, but I can tell you there have been many, many, many times I was the heaviest person in the room.26

Everything in life except for my eating has gone off the rails, so my NSV's are what are helping me keep it together.
1. MFP announced I've been logging for 30 days straight. On only a couple of those days did I go over calories, and those were by accident. I don't know HOW I'm managing to stick with it based on my stress level, but I'm grateful. Reading these posts are definitely helping, so thank you, everyone!
2. All of my clothes are now noticeably looser, and even my goofy brain can't explain that away. One pair of trousers may need to be retired soon or I might inadvertently moon someone 😉
Best wishes to all!37 -
I bought XL leggings. They fit. And they make my legs look fantastic.
Also the sweater that curved over my gut (prompting one woman to ask when I was due) now hangs straight off me because it's much too big. Which is fortunate because it hides my underwear when my pants slip off.
Silly mental imagery side note: my cat weighs 12 pounds. I have lost 4 times him. Sometimes I picture myself with 4 cats stuck to my body and wonder how I was even moving. That's just too many cats to be carrying around all the time.49 -
We just returned from a cruise and I didn't feel the need to cringe when looking through the photos afterward. I feel better in my white dressy outfits now... (Size 26 v. size 10)

I’ve been on keto 2 months now. I lost 16 lbs right away and only 2 lbs since then. I feel better and hope the weight loss continues but there are other benefits. I haven’t had a migraine in a months! I am getting us d to keto, it’s second nature now. I ready to start tweeting it to get healthier. You am so very inspired by all this great things I’ve read in this thread.12

You look fabulous! Very inspiring!4 -
Due to a family emergency today, I had to see immediate family members I haven’t seen in several years. Jaws dropped, including my mom, who used to deliberately sabotage any attempt I made to lose weight by bringing in sacks and sacks of my faves and leaving them laying around in our office kitchen or on my desk. My own fault for caving so often and so easily, but she knew damn well what she was doing. Even used to laugh and say she was jealous and would make me as big as she was.
Sometimes, you just have to put negative people(s) out of your life for your own sanity.
Life has been very joyful since I chose to do
so, and I am glad to say, the other NSV is that spending the day with them and knowing there will be more days forced upon me didn’t drive me into meltdown and stress eating.39 -

Awww ... your mom missed the sabotage boat, you're already slim and fit ... *sarcastic sniff*
I've been reading various of your posts on the forums over the last few months and you've been doing amazingly. Well done.11 -

Thanks so much. That means a lot.
I am booked for a 5:30 am class before I head back to the hospital. More to clear my head than for anything else. Funny how life changes. Clearing my head with excercise would never have been on my radar before.
Hey, that’s another NSV!!!!26 -
This weekend, I nipped up to Scotland to hike for 24 hours (about 40 miles) for charity.
Oddly, that isn't the NSV.
The NSV is that it wasn't even hard. I spent the day being annoyed by how slowly the group was walking. In the night, while everyone else hit their personal walls and commiserated and bonded over how much their feet/ankles/hips/back hurt, I sauntered along with perfectly happy feet wondering when I was going to hit mine.
Not, it turned out. I decided to keep very quiet about the fact that I could probably have walked another fifteen miles.
This is me being ridiculously chirpy about eighteen miles in, looking out over the hydro dam at Pitlochry
