@martaindale great 10 mile race. That's the way to get your PR!
@Tramboman congrats on the AG place! Doesn't matter how many were in your AG, you came out on top!
Beautiful morning with 60F, light wind. Training plan calls for 35 miles this week, but the PTC 15K is this Saturday, so will only get 9 miles in. Needing to make up for that, decided to run 10 miles this morning. Felt terrible the first mile, but body parts loosened up, aches and pains calmed down, and eventually settled into a good rhythm. Wednesday calls for an 11 mile tempo run, but this 'easy' run was only :06/mi slower than that, so should be ok. May have to do a few miles on Thursday when I get to Atlanta. So much for tapering before a race 😒

October Goal 100 miles
October 2 – 5.18 miles
October 4 – 10.7 miles
October 7 – 4.01 miles
October 8 – 4.51 miles
October 9 – 5 miles
October 11 – 12 miles
October 14 – 5.16 miles
Total – 46.56 miles
I should really check the temperature before I leave the house in the mornings to run. I didn’t realize it was 40F until I was on my way to meet my group. It was actually 35 when I first looked at my car temp reading but it’s always a few degrees warmer in the city where I run. At home, I park inside our garage so I don’t have the experience of walking outside until I get out to run. I lay my clothes out the night before so that I don’t have to take the time to find them in the mornings and it’s easier to just go with whatever I’ve chosen. After the first mile it wasn’t too bad but I think long sleeves would have been better than my short sleeve tech shirt although one of my friends was in a tank top and she seemed to do just fine.
@Tramboman – sorry that you’re disappointed in your 5K race pace but congratulations on your AG win!
@shanaber – Love the pictures of the CA coast. I love being able to explore in different places by getting out and running. I saw a lot of Scotland in my recent trip that my travel mates missed because they don’t run and I would get out before they got stirring in the mornings. It sometimes meant that I missed having a sit-down breakfast, but I never went hungry!
@kgirlhart – that blue sky and the blue water! How pretty!!
@martaindale – Congratulations on your 10-mile race!

I had my first race post-broken leg this past weekend. I wrote a really bad blog about it. Add .com/blog to my username to find it.7

This week has also put me a bit behind on my goals. Missed too many days. Yay being a woman.

I stopped at Walgreens before work this morning for some hydration and the manager (a former co-worker at UPS) asked why I was limping. I told him to shut up, because I meant to run, today. The co-worker I usually drive home texted before work that he was calling in, so I had my shoes and earbuds and phone armband ready to go for afterwards.
By the time I was done working, *I* couldn't tell that I was limping, and that's the metric I'm using. I went for a run in the forest preserve near work. The knee twinged a few times in the "pinched nerve in the front of the knee" way, and didn't cramp up in the "Ow, something's torn or overextended" way. My right hip is a little sore in a "I worked out!" kind of way. I'll have to keep an eye on that, maybe. I might be bad at listening to my body.
I didn't quite manage to run the entire trail loop, but I had stopped for a walk break only about 30 seconds before my episode of Zombies, Run! ended, so I decided that was a perfectly fine "Welcome Back" run, and stopped the app at 4.23 kilometers (they'll only bark your distance and time on whole numbers, and I like more frequent updates, so I run from Zombies by the kilometer...) which converts to 2.6 miles (rounded down to the nearest 10th of a mile.)
I still haven't gotten around to checking out any yoga.12 -

I enjoyed your blog post! So good to read you have recovered your former speed!
When I was young and in the SCA I traveled out there to attend a camping event called “Estrella Wars.” I wonder where it was in comparison and how similar the terrain is?0 -
did a 5k run this saturday. it was cold. it was blustery. and someone forgot to mention the hills in the course description. i did pretty well. it was 3 min slower than my last one but those hills were steep enough for me to walk them. i was feeling achy (aerial hoop practice friday night and autoimmune)
mile 2 had iced vanilla lattes shots along with water and gatorade
one other kink was there were only 4 portapotties. i think they could have used at least double.
it was a fun race. the people running were friendly which isn't always the case in my area.
then i stopped by the rescue and played with puppies13 -

@shanaber jealous of those running places. Pictures look so nice!
@RunsOnEspresso read your race report, it was really good. I snooped on the rest of your site, and was impressed how well it was organised and laid out. Glad your leg is feeling better, and you are staying on track in your marathon training. Keep it up!

@RunsOnEspresso -great blog, and great comeback..Really enjoyed reading that and some of the other stuff
@mbaker566 Those puppies are so cute! Good run on the 5K
@Tramboman Congrats on the AG
@autumnblade75 I'm very bad at listening too..case in point: I rolled my foot today. Guess my reaction was bad enough that Garmin sent an incident alert (they work!)to my husband who called me right away. I've done this many times and usually its just a slip of the foot, you can feel it at first then just subsides. So I told him I was fine and kept going. It felt fine for the next couple of miles, and then at around mile 5 it started hurting a little and I thought well this is not one of those simple twists. Started running slower and felt better, and made it home.
Took the shoe off and yep, top of the foot has swelling. UGH. So I probably should have turned around and gone home when it happened, but I had the"oh it's fine" feeling. So I've been icing and elevating and praying.
I swear I have the worst luck. I have run this route a hundred times, my foot just landed wrong and rolled outward.
So now I'm probably off for a few days, which we all know, is no fun when it's due to injury.

Hey y’all,
Anyone ever have a nail fungus? I know it’s gross. But damaged runners toenails are more susceptible to nail fungus. I took oral meds, it tried to kill my liver. So today I have an appointment to either have it removed or do the laser treatment. Anyone have experience? Is the laser worth it? I’m thinking I’m going to just be brave and have it removed.3 -
@elise4270 - sorry no experience here. Hope it is easy to get it taken care of!
@Scott6255 - doing a short run before a race is ok. Just consider it a 'shake out' run to get everything ready to go for race day. I don't know that I would do an 11 mile run though the week of my race.
@RunsOnEspresso - great race report and so glad you are back into training after the break!
@autumnblade75 - hope your foot is ok!
@mbaker566 - They definitely needed more portages pots! Wow!
I would stay and snuggle puppies all day long! I really want another but I am pretty sure dh would leave if I brought home another puppy...
@tramboman - congrats on your AG win - doesn't matter how many were in the group! Also hope your achilles is ok!
@polskagirl01 - hope your leg feels better with some rest!
@kgirlhart - that is a great place to run! I would go back to that area again too!
@noblsheep - that's a pretty cool tribute to Kipchoge's run!
@zeesparrow - I can't believe you are already having freezing weather!
@martaindale - congratulations on your 10mile race! I hate when you have watch/GPS issues in a race. But seems like you did just fine with it!
@katharmonic - I hope you are doing ok after that allergy scare and so glad you went and had it checked out!
@rheddmobile - Wow! on your 24hour race! Can you walk yet?
So much good running going on by everyone!
Ok I think I am finally caught up!5 -
@durhammfp - I was going to ask as well where it was. It looks very much like where I was hiking and running this last week in Cambria CA. I will be posting some pictures in a bit.
Cambria. Bingo! I have been running all over Fiscalini but this is from the Bluff Trail. :-)
@shanaber I plan on running here one more morning, tomorrow maybe around 7ish. Are you in Cambria now?2 -

I've never heard of Estrella Wars so I had to google. It's held at Schnepf farms now which is like an hour or so from me. I've never been there but I think it's just a big field. Estrella 5k is heald out Estrella Mountain Regional Park. It's mostly dirt and rock with some cactus. LOL2 -

Thanks! I have plans to work on it more but it always seems to fall to the bottom of the to do list.1 -

The difference in HR zones between a 10M road race and a 12 Hr trail race
I'll post a RR tonight. A few minor issues but overall I'm very happy with it.
