Run at least 4 5k races. Completed 8-31
Get under 30:00 and a PR for 5k. Nope...
Average at least 135k per month, which would put me over 1,000 miles for the year.
Run the Year Team: Five for Nineteen - Completed 9-28
Scheduled rest day today. Was actually planning to run, but rain was raining. Again, I doubt a rest day will hurt me.

I decided that I did not want to run this morning when it was 27°F feels like 19°F, so I waited until lunch and ran when it was 39°F feels like 34°F. I think I made the right call. It was still cold, but it was sunny so it was pretty nice out. I wore capris and a t-shirt with sleeves and gloves. I ended up pushing the sleeves down about a mile from home, but I was glad to have them starting out. I will most likely wear this same outfit for the 5K next weekend unless it is raining. Today I ran 3.25 miles and did it in under 30 minutes. Strava said it was my 2nd best 5k, 2 mile and 1 mile effort. I felt really good about the run and I wasn't even too late getting back to work. I probably wouldn't have been late at all except I stopped to chat with my mail carrier who was delivering my mail when I got home. So that wraps up October at 115.8 miles. I'll see you all over in the November thread!

Sep-57-actual
Oct-59-actual
Nov-60-goal
You guys are such a motivating crew!9 -
@7lenny7 Hope Kody is okay.
@shanaber Glad Hobbes got his stitches out and is cleared for normal activities! Thanks for setting up the Nov thread.
Ended up running/walking 53.38 miles this month. I think my goal was 50, so exceeded that. I'm glad, but am most happy about the fact that I ran a 6 mile long run in a little over 1hr and 13 min AND, last night, I ran 3.5 miles at an 11:11/mile pace. That's probably the fastest I have ever run that distance (or possibly even a mile) in my entire life...and that's a lot to say for a 60 year old.

Not an impressive finish to the month, but got in a little treadmill warm-up this morning before strength training. So I end up 4 miles short of goal, which I'll take as good enough. I prioritized recovery and other activities the past couple of weeks.
Congrats to everyone who met their goals and to those who just survived and did what they could. See you in November!5 -
Today is a rest day. My first actual race (5k) is Saturday and I’ll be trying to hit 30:00 but will be happy no matter where I land.
I lost track of my October mileage goal. I think it was 60. I finished at 73.4 miles. I’m definitely feeling stronger. This sport is empowering!8 -
It was so cold out tonight (low to mid 30's) that my pace was phenomenal!! It makes me look forward to the super cold marathon on Sunday! I went out with shorts, a thin t-shirt, hat, and gloves... I ended up taking that hat off eventually.
9 -
Made my October target by the skin of my teeth - 107 miles jalking, 62.5 miles walking so 1/2 mile over. Also 218 miles of cycling which is liable to decrease with the changing weather.9
-
Just a little shy of my goal this month. On target for 2019 trail miles but will be hard pressed to get my 2019 overall distance goal.

Good morning! This week has been so busy!!!!!!! Work has been nuts, kids have been nuts, prepping for Halloween for kids has been nuts - I haven't run since last Saturday! Technically, I did not meet my October goal and it is because this week killed me, but if you go by averages and the other weeks where I went over my goal by adding additional runs each week, then I smashed the October goal. It's a matter of perspective and I'm happy with the outcome. I'm going to stick to my current 1 indoor/ 1 outdoor run per week for November and adding a long run each weekend.
The past two days I have had SIGNIFICANT problems with my insides. I honestly have no idea what's happening - nothing like this has ever really happened to me before - but yesterday and the day before it felt like my insides were on fire in my abdomen and I swelled up like a balloon. Both days I ate a ton of sugar. Yesterday, I woke up fine and it started after I ate a bunch of mini almond joys. Then I had chili for lunch. Nothing helped - I have tums, rolaids, pepto, and NOTHING was working. I even walked for miles with the kids to trick or treat last night and that didn't even help.... My fiance says, "Oh well it could be an ulcer," while I'm thinking, "actually let's just hope it's indigestion???" Any thoughts or insight? Today, all I've had is coffee and a gluten free multigrain sandwich, one slice of cheese, 1 tablespoon of mayo, and 2 oz sliced turkey. My guts feel like they want to start burning, but so far so good.
also - - - - -- - - I REGISTERED FOR THE 2020 ROCK N ROLL MARATHON IN NASHVILLE! So funny and annoying how I get all amped up and say, "i'm doing this thing," but then when it is time to actually put money toward it and commit to it, I start thinking, "wellllllll 26 miles in another city DOES seem really FAR and like A LOT of work......"
I decided to stop second guessing myself, commit to the thing, and just do it. Here's to hoping I don't actually have an ulcer....

I have a half marathon planned for November 9th. The weather has finally been cooler. I achieved my goal last month of 25 miles; shortened goal due to being on vacation for 2 weeks.
My new goal for this month is 50 miles. I think that it is an attainable goal.
10/4......7.05 miles.
10/6.....6.01 miles.
10/7....2.03 miles.
10/10...2.87 miles.
10/13....6.04 miles
10/25...4.52 miles
10/28...8.01 miles (Monon trail)...
10/29...7.05 miles (Monon trail)
Total miles.....43.58 miles
Goal miles....50
So, I still had 6.42 miles to run to achieve goal. It was pouring down with rain when I left work. I had a hang-nail on my left big toe that was really hurting at the end of the shift. So it was an easy decision to skip the workout and just call it a month.
I am working 3 shifts in a row...so probably will be late logging any November miles....plus it is taper week before the half marathon (the Monumental) in November.
I am going to baby the toe next week. Probably run 1 mile stretches on the treadmill and follow it with strength training.
Has anyone ever had a hangnail on a big toe? I have been trying to leave it alone. It's not as sore today, but want it to be race ready. Also I have the unfortunate issue of needing it to walk. I appreciate any input.
Congratulations on those who made their goal. Good luck to those running this weekend. I hope that you have great weather.

PastorVincent wrote: »polskagirl01 wrote: »PastorVincent wrote: »@avidkeo - Good luck with your relay and have fun!!
@pastorvincent - personally I would take an Uber from the finish to get to the start if the race doesn't provide any transportation. That serves 2 purposes - a) you don't have to get so cold walking and b) you don't have to go so early. If you don't have an old throw away jacket or sweatshirt like @Teresa502 mentioned I would use a large trash bag. It is amazing how warm they will keep you and they keep the wind out.
Hmm an uber. Maybe. But it might be surge pricing or whatever it is called. It is like a 25 min or so walk. There is a shuttle from Finish to start, but it will not start running until about an hour after the race starts. I wish they had just set up a loop like any reasonable race so that start/finish were the same or at least close.
Maybe! That sinkhole is ON THE RACE ROUTE. In fact, it is pretty close to the finish line.
Don't fall in! Unless you decide to dress like the bus for the race. Someone needs to. Might help keep you warm?0 -
