@PrimalJillian
Have to say I love seeing your before and after pictures as I scroll through the comments. The before picture is so like my body shape right now (though I am much older than you) that it inspires me to keep working at it.3 -
@TerriRichardson112 - You look beautiful on your new profile picture! You go girl!!! Loving that outfit!

10/20: 222.8 (+1.0)/18.8 (+0.1). I went to my niece's birthday party last night, and FOR ME I was okay. I had some drinks, I ate a little more than I wanted to (late night grazing), but I was generally okay. If I can get through this weekend with a pound or less gain, it would be a success. I'll be going to the gym today, and we're going back for leftovers this afternoon. I will keep things under control when I'm there. And I'm going to push myself at the gym.
10/21: 221.8 (-1.0)/18.7 (-0.1). I worked my plan to perfection yesterday. I went to the gym in the morning with my wife, ate a very light lunch, then went to the in-laws to have leftovers from Saturday's party. I stayed in control for the most part, plus I avoided both alcohol and dessert while I was there. Dinner was also very light last night. This is the first time in recent memory that I ended a weekend at the same weight I started the weekend at.
10/22: 221.2 (-0.6)/18.6 (-0.1). At this point any lower number is the lowest weight I've seen in quite a while. I'm going to try not to get too excited when I see them, but it really has been a struggle to get "here." Lots of ups and downs. Maybe I'll celebrate a little (in my head), while continuing to do everything I've been doing (eating better, hitting the gym 3x/wk, playing basketball when I feel healthy enough to do so). My wife put her arms around my "belly" yesterday and told me she notices that it's smaller. I'm continuing to notice positive changes when I look in the mirror. Gym tonight, then I watch the Laker game (first game of the season!).
10/23: 219.6 (-1.6)/18.5 (-0.1). WHOOSH™!!! The last time I went under 220 (after being above), I took a picture and posted it on Facebook. This was a barrier to me before, and it's acted like a barrier to me during my time back in this challenge as well. It's always hard for me to remember that it really takes a while for things to "come together" in this fitness/healthy lifestyle thing. I still find myself getting upset/happy on a day-to-day basis more than I would like to. Don't get me wrong; paying attention to the day-to-day is VITALLY important. But today I can step back a little bit, get a more broad perspective, and say with confidence that THIS IS WORKING. I can say that because: 1) my weight is dropping, 2) my clothes are fitting better, 3) I'm getting stronger at the gym, 4) I can see my muscles again (they're growing), and (5) I am visually noticing some of the other changes in my body (shape). The horribly frustrating part of this is that my "gut" is the last thing to go. While it's definitely gotten smaller, it's still prominent, and likely will remain that way until I get closer to 210 or 205. I'm going to keep doing this the right way; when I do, I KNOW that it works. Sunday night is going to be a night out with drinking. I'm trying to get myself in a good place BEFORE this happens (understanding that I'm not likely to like my weigh-in the next day). Sorry about the long post!
10/24: 219.4 (-0.2)/18.4 (-0.1). Dinner last night was a splurge, but I was still under in my calories. Which brings me to my next subject - time to take this to the next level. I've got my workout routine pretty much down. Basketball is in my life. I'm "taking care" of myself in some important ways. It's time for me to start cutting out some of the unnecessary carbs: bread (especially in sandwiches, which is something of a weakness for me), tortillas, rice, and all sweets (except maybe dark chocolate occasionally and certain berries). I've also done really well in the past when I've cut soda completely out of my life, but I'll hold on to that for the moment. I need to do some shopping to prepare for this properly, but I am going to give it a go starting Monday.
10/25: 219.4 (0.0)/18.4 (0.0). I went to the gym last night, but I wasn't feeling quite as energetic as I have been. I had a moderately heavy dinner (quality-wise), but I did okay with portions. Even before my weigh-in I noticed that my energy is a little bit down today. Again, it probably started last night. Now that I'm thinking about it, it's probably related to "having visitors" this weekend. That means I have to clean everything, because I basically married my mother in this respect (no one can know that we don't live in a house that is perfectly clean, all the time). I get it, I just don't like it. Hmm. I also went yesterday to see a mental health professional for the first time in more than ten years. Anyhoo... basketball is tomorrow, and I think my foot has healed enough for me to play. I'm going to keep plugging along!
10/26: 219.2 (-0.2)/18.4 (0.0). Got really busy all day yesterday and just did not get a chance to post.
10/27: 220.2 (+1.0)/18.5 (+0.1). My parents came over last night for dinner (first time in my new house), and I probably indulged a bit too much... in a bunch of areas. Thank goodness I played basketball yesterday (it offset things a bit), although it was really crowded, and my energy level was pretty low (three weeks away from basketball is a lot for this old man). I'm headed to the gym this morning with my wife, and I'm going to the Queen Mary tonight for the coolest haunted house/Halloween thing in the world. There will be lots of walking and a moderate level of drinking. My food will be under control, however (I've already got it planned). Wish me luck!
10/28: 219.2 (-1.0)/18.4 (-0.1). Last night at the Queen Mary was pretty cool, but for some reason it wasn't as great as my experience last year. Maybe it's like getting your first high. I had way too much to drink, but it was mostly hard alcohol. I walked a bunch at night, and I lifted weights in the morning. All that being said, last night is probably going to catch up with me when I weigh-in tomorrow. I'm going to just own it. (Edited entry for inaccurate weigh-in)

10/20: DNW- Did too much today and just didn't really weigh in.
10/21:206- I let a little loose yesterday. Went to Disneyland and walked a lot. Didn't have as much water and ended up having sushi for dinner with my cousin. I hope I can get through this week with at least some progress.
10/22: DNW- Spent the night at my boyfriends since he finally got a day off. Kept dinner simple and I thought we would make it in the gym together last night, but think we were both out of it. I'm feeling a lot better today, especially after he told me he can tell I've slimmed down a little. Honestly, hearing that made me so happy! I'm meal prepping when I get home today and will be pushing myself to get back in the habit of the gym tonight.
I'm a little nervous not knowing my weight for today, but hoping it hasn't gone up.
10/23: 207.2- Ugh this is no good! I had a feeling I went up, but didn't think it was by that much Plus gym didn't happen last night. Not sure what's wrong with me, but I cannot keep my eyes open and just need sleep. I need a break, all this running around, driving everywhere, doing things is draining me! It shouldn't be an excuse though, I need to start getting serious. Ate kinda bad last night, not gonna lie. Need to finish meal prepping and start logging my meals again.
10/24: 207- Baby steps. Yesterday was bad! I had the worst migraine and am so thankful for Advil. My wisdom teeth pain I think is the main reason for the migraines and it's starting up again now. I'm just too scared to get them removed, and with work I don't think I'm able to take the time off. Last night I couldn't do anything. I felt like a mess and just want my energy back. I keep sleeping funky too; knocking out with the lights on, double pillows giving me neck strain, etc. I really am taking baby steps in the right direction though. Don't want to push myself too hard and get sick. This sucks but I'm trying.
10/25:206-Woohoo! I'm so proud of myself for being on top of my stuff yesterday. Andddddd I pushed myself to go to the gym last night I popped an Advil, got my healthy food shopping done, and went to the gym. I did 30 mins cardio and some strength for my arms, didn't want to push more than that. Stayed under 100 net carbs and had 51oz water (baby steps) I feel so cruddy this morning, with the migraine not going away STILL and for some reason I'm running to the bathroom all morning.
ALSO I bought my bf the same scale I have because his needs to go in the trash and never see the light of day again. Hope everyone's Friday is going well
10/26:205.6-Feels great to be out of 206 No gym last night and honestly ended up having a big mac It's day 73847324820398 of my migraine and no improvement. I just took some meds and hope it will help. Heading to my bf's house today and have a birthday with friends tomorrow, oh I hope the pain goes away.
10/27:DNW-Bf loves the new scale I got him, his dad even tried it out I did weigh myself on it, but I had clothes on and I always weigh in the mornings with nothing on because I've noticed my clothes always change the results. So not sure what my numbers are right now.
10/28:DNW- Should have taken the scale with my in the bathroom, but looks like I'll be going another day not knowing where I'm at. This weekend kind of killed me. From migraines, to meds, to having a regular coke Saturday and some drinks and candy yesterday, I just said screw it. I'm going to be pissed if I'm above 206 again, that weight is just annoying me. Hoping today is a new day and to see some good results tomorrow with less tooth and head pain.

10/26: 196.4 (+1.4) been trying to get back into the swing of things. Had some “life changing” news. Come full terms with it and know what I need to do going forward with my limitations. This isn’t a normal rut I’m in but I know how to get out of it and i will.
10/27: 197.5 (+1.2) not sure how this is happening. I thought I did pretty good yesterday. Back to the gym today and every day. I let myself slip and need to find my way back down. No excuses

Back again and still working to get into the my new and final decade. I have around 5 pounds to lose to get to my final goal weight of 135-138, but at the rate I am going it may be next year, lol. I would love to see a new low this round, but we will see what happens and I want to be under 141.9 at least 6-7 times in this round.
Round 88: 143.6 - 147.0 Avg 145.84
Round 89: 147.0 - 143.7 Avg 144.99
Round 90: 143.7 - 140.9 Avg 142.68
Round 91: 140.9 - 143.6 Avg 143.62
Round 92: 143.6 - 141.5 Avg 142.01
10/20 - 143.9 up 2.4 pounds overnight. That is what 3 meals at restaurants in 1 day looks like on me. Didn't eat bad, but the sodium destroys me every time. Oh well, I had an amazing day on our day trip driving around and looking at the leaves changing colors with my hubby yesterday. Well worth the couple of extra water weight pounds.
10/21 - 144.6 Yikes! I don't think I deserve this, but ok. Cleaned house, did laundry, and meal prepped all day. So maybe I am just dehydrated or something. We will see tomorrow. Have my meals planned today and drinking my water.
10/22 - 144.6 Decided I needed to do something different, because I am just stuck. I can not lose these last couple of pounds so I worked out for the first time yesterday in years. I literally hurt everywhere and cannot sit down without cringing my legs hurt so bad. So I'm thinking that is why there is no change in my weight today. I will do my workout I had planned today, but I will not be doing it with a smile. This is my plan for the next 30 days to see if I can jump start my weight loss again. If not I am out of options and I may just decide the last 5 pounds is just not worth it. So 1/30 down, only 29/30 to go!
10/23 - 143.9 Still crazy sore. Did not do my exercises that I had planned. My legs just hurt to bad. Hopefully today I will get something in. but I am still not 100%. Meals planned today, but going out to dinner tonight for my son's 20th bday. Already looked at the menu and I know what I am going to order. Was under calories Monday and Tuesday, so still fighting the good fight.
10/24 - 144.6 great dinner out and almost at calorie limit. Over just a tad, but did have a bloody mary and a beer. Your first born only turns 20 once, so no regrets. I will eventually get back down.
10/25 - 143.9 Of course I am back here. Can not seem to get anywhere this round. Have only had alcohol one time in the last 5 days and have been under calories 4 out of the last 5 days. Some how I am still higher everyday this week than I was last week. Who knows what is going on? I am skipping happy hour with friends tonight, because I do not want to drink and I know if I go out I will. One Friday isn't going to kill me and I am exhausted. I think it's a movie on the couch kind of night. I have chicken tacos in the crock pot for dinner and will do mine over lettuce instead of doing tortillas. So should be on track the rest of the day and finish strong.
10/26 - 142.3 No alcohol on a Friday night. Now that is a win in my book.
10/27 - 139.7 Did an almost 24 hour fast yesterday, so I know this will bounce back up. I am just hoping to get through this weekend and maybe make some progress. We will see what happens.
10/28 - 142.3 Well that sucks! I was really expecting a bounce up, but a much smaller bounce up. One more day and I will be lucky to end where I started this round. Oh well, at least I am trending down again. All last week I was trending up and not a happy camper.

Day/Weight/Comment
10/20: 297.3 lbs (+0.2) … up a tiny bit over yesterday. Spent 4 hours yesterday raking leaves until I ran out of daylight and finished it with another 2.5 hours of work this morning. Tired.
10/21: 302.5 lbs (+5.2) … Chinese food was a mistake.
10/22: 298.3 lbs (-4.2) … Partial recovery from yesterday’s uptick. Yesterday, I started a new plan to hopefully improve my rate of loss, which has slowed over the last few months. I’m doing 16:8 IF daily and targeting about 1700 calories. My run this morning went well, though now it’s dark for 3/4 of it, which kind of sucks.
10/23: 297.4 lbs (-0.9) … Pretty much recovered from the General Tso combination platter I ate Sunday night. Hoping to make some positive progress for the remainder of the challenge with my new plan / lower calorie budget.
10/24: 295.4 lbs (-2.0) … First new low in a week and a half! Went for a run this morning and ran a full 5k distance for the first time. 40 minutes. Between those two things, I’m feeling pretty good today. The new IF plan has been going pretty well also.
10/25: 296.6 lbs (+1.2) … Bit of an uptick, but it’s more likely that my weight is actually holding steady. Yesterday morning I weighed myself after running, which reflected some water weight loss (sweat). This “gain” is nothing to worry about. Looking forward to some more downward momentum on the scale this weekend. Edit: just had a couple new pairs of jeans get delivered. Put 'em on and they fit perfectly. 6 sizes down on pants now
10/26: 293.2 lbs (-3.4) … Now that’s what I’m talking about! Beat my previous low weight by over 2 pounds. Very happy today. Had a nice, but shorter morning run today… I wanted to save some energy for yardwork this afternoon.
10/27: 293.8 lbs (+0.6) … Such a busy weekend. Yesterday I spent 3.5 hours working on the leaves outside and didn’t even finish. Today’s rainy, so I have to put the rest of it off for now -- at least the front yard is done. This morning I installed two new ceiling light fixtures in our family room and went grocery shopping. Ready to plop down for a while >.>
10/28: 294.0 lbs (+0.2) … a tiny bit up again, but still under my round goal by a decent amount. Just went through my closet and claimed 5 new shirts that didn’t fit last time I checked, including the first of my XL-sized stuff. I have my first session with a personal trainer to get me started at the gym in a few hours.

OSW: 177.1 lbs
LTG: 110.0 lbs
STG: 115 (next milestone)
Goals for 10 day Challenge: reach 115-114.
Day/Weight/Comment
10/20 116.6 Ate out last 2 nights - great meals, but heavy protein and wine first night (the extra protein tends to lead to slower digestion/retention) and sushi last night (also wine). Over both nights (not by a lot, so within “refeed” objective) but under maintenance calories, so expect that a lot of this is also water retention (usually gain after sushi, but love it as a treat!!!). XTrain class in the morning and then doing barbell weight routines in the afternoon.
10/21 117.2 Up again. Definitely water retention/food retention, so expect that this will drop in a day or so. Heavy weights yesterday - set new PR for deadlifts (115 lbs) - so close to bodyweight - and improving strength overall with squats and bench press. definitely feeling it in legs/shoulders today! XTrain class early am and then a pilates class in afternoon.
10/22 116.4 Reversing direction after the dinners out last weekend! Still some DOMS with deadlifts from Sunday Sunday so expect some water retention still an issue. Weight training with trainer this morning and will likely go to spin in the evening for cardio.
10/23 117.2 Bounce.. Definitely DOMS this morning from weight training yesterday am, and a super intense spin class last night (38 min at peak HR out of 55) so not surprised weight is up (likely water retention) NSV: have lost 0.5 inches around my waist since last week, so scale and army %BF calculators seem to agree that BF is around 28% At this point with weight training, inches lost are more meaningful than changes on the scale, but still watching to see how my body is adjusting to the increased calories. Decided today would be my rest day for this week (usually the low point) and will be back to strength training and cycle tomorrow.
10/24 117.6 Waiting for the Whoosh…. Have had a week like this before. I am pretty sure that calories are below maintenance and exercise is good, so probably still a mix of increase in muscle (scale thinks 0.2 lbs so half) and water retention from exercise and sodium (cheese in lasagna I made last night probably did not help on that count). Great workouts today, so not expecting a drop tomorrow as muscles recover. Patience, patience, patience…
NSV: my old white stretch jean leggings are too big in the waist (seemed to fit a week ago) - that’s more important than the scale number as belly fat gets burned! Ordered new jean leggings 2 sizes down.
10/25 116.6 one pound down! Tried on old size 4 suede skirt from mid 90’s and can now zip up! (this was back when I weighed probably around 105 using machines/light dumbells). Definitely leaner in legs now than then as plenty of room in hips, even though heavier, but can still afford to burn more fat around the waist (BF% around 28%) (it does zip, but not lose enough to be comfortable sitting - lol!) Definitely enjoying the increase in calories (1500-1600 target) so just need to roll with the slower loss/gains - with strength training/cardio the fat will likely be reduced with time, even if weight stabilizes here (body recomp time?). 30 minute express spin class today and may try to work in a regular bench press with bar + incline bench press ahead of time, as those muscles have recovered from earlier in the week.
10/26 115.6 Down another pound. Challenge tonight is dept Halloween party so will need to treat as a cheat day! Xtrain in the morning and dancing tonight!
10/27 116.6 Not surprised! Over calories with alcohol, but had a great time! Burned over 1000 calories yesterday, and over 17,000 steps, but definitely dehydrated and had too much sodium late in the day so expect a lot of this is water retention/food retention. Went to gym late afternoon for weights and spin class. New PR on back squat of 105
10/28 115.6 Back down again, so that is good given the lifting yesterday. Within 0.2 lbs of low from last round, but happy to stay in the 115’s/ A little sore in glutes, shoulder/chest but not too bad! Going to do a pilates/barre class after work; maybe spin but they are back to back so not sure if I’ll be able to get in the spin class for cardio (requires a wrist band). If not there is always the elliptical at home for a quick HIIT workout, but much prefer to exercise before dinner rather than after, as exercise too late messes up my sleep!

For those on Keto, here is an interesting article about CHEAT DAYS. I admit I have not read the entire article but I will because I cheated big time on Sunday!0

Female, 68 YO, 5'8"
SW 157.4
GW 156.4 This is a 1 pound goal for this round
10/20 157.4 TS Nestor is gone, sun was shining, female dog was strong enough for almost 3 miles today, so we
got in our first real, though short, hike in over a week! YAY!
10/21 OMG... for the first time in FOREVER, I forgot to get weighed!
10/22 157.2 No excitement, just my body regulating fluids. Dang it! lol
10/23 157.0
10/24 157.4
10/25 156.8
10/26 158.4 Has to be water retention, I was good on my diet yesterday, but sodium was high. SMH Ate poorly today at our annual Cooter Festival, so don't expect to do better tomorrow, either.
10/27 159.4
10/28 158.4

I'll try to remember to log in tomorrow, but not sure that I will. I was just informed, via a message on facebook messenger, that my brother up in NJ just died. I wasn't told that he was dying, that he had been home in hospice for the past week, and if my niece's husband hadn't messaged me today, I wouldn't have known a thing was wrong. So kind of out of it right now. Wishing y'all the best in hitting your goals.9 -
@IsMollyReallyHungry WELCOME BACK!!!!4

@poisonesse I’m so sorry you have lost your brother. I’m concerned that no one will tell me when my brother passes or if he’s even been ill. Sending prayers for you and the family.5

NEVER GIVE UP! You can surprise yourself! I have.
What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.
10/19 120.5
*******
10/20 121.0 Food at the all day sew was not the greatest, choice wise and I am still in ketosis - barely. It was a fun day however and worth it. Today more socializing at the neighbor’s.
10/21 121.5 I think this uptick is a result of the foods from Saturday. It’s okay, I’m still well below my goal weight.
10/22 121.0 Couldn’t go to sleep last night, awake until 2 and slept until 8:30.
10/23 120.0 Sorry for the late post. DH & I went to work in our daughter’s classroom at 8 this morning. He and she worked with the kids and I did “busy work” which she would have to do at home. Her principal continues to give her a hard time about everything. Of 36 teachers under this principal last year, 21 transferred away this year! It’s ridiculous.
10/24 121.0 We ate at Asian buffet at lunch yesterday.
10/25 120.5 Today is a sew day with friends as we are retired or off work for Nevada Day.
10/26 120.0 Yesterday was a great day. Sewing with friends all day and free music at 2 of the casinos in town.
10/27 120.0 Going to champagne brunch at nearby casino today. I love champagne!
10/28 120.0 Finally finished reading all of the messages. DH got up and asked me if it was late enough for me to go to the gym - I have to have my coffee first and prefer to have made the TMI visit before I go. So we spent an hour at the gym this morning -first time I have workout out in months!8 -
69 years old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion... ...Oh, well. I'll just keep working on it.
Trying to get back to walking 5 miles a day. A pinched nerve and back surgery side-lined me for about a year.

I'm way over budget every day! But somehow keeping at the same weight. Good news is I meal prepped last night (hooray!!) and Halloween is almost here, which means my usual candy temptation will be absent for at least a month!

@poisonesse, I'm so sorry for your loss. I've also found out how very strange family can become. I'm glad your niece's husband informed you of your brother. My condolences.
@quiltingjaine, Where's the article link Jaine? I don't have cheat DAYS, not even during adrenal fatigue😂😂😂😂 I don't usually get desperate for any particular food anymore. I'm good unless I reach a certain stress level. I do want to read the article though. I may have read it already.
●Annnnd, I want to report that I'm really seeing improvements with daily rehab exercises. I performed 100 true jumping jacks today. I could not do that a month ago. I don't know how my knee, ankle and shoulder will feel in the morning, but doing great right now.😀12 -

Well, I'm definitely not going to hit my goal this round...I'm only down 1.5 lb in 9 days, so another wasted round for me. I'm skipping tomorrow's weigh-in, and re-evaluating a lot of things. I hope all of ye were more successful than me. Best wishes on your continued weight-loss journey!
