Michelle- at walmart in with the eggs is something called crepini with cauliflower. They are small crepes 8 calories each I take a couple of slices of precooked bacon and a slice of smoked cheddar and stick it in the oven till the cheese melts really tasty..3

Hello everyone!
I keep meaning to mention to the group November's Prevention magazine has quite a few blurbs/articles regarding many of the things we have been discussing. One of the articles mentions a study in the journal of Neurology found a higher BMI and waist circumference was associated with having a thinner brain cortex which has been tied to worse cognition in late life. There is also an article regarding Light Therapy for mood boosting and sleep therapy.
I have always enjoyed Prevention. It's a quick read. The articles do not contain in depth details. It does provide a general overview of many health topics and one can easily search the references if one wants more details on a topic.

Morning, afternoon and evening, all...
As we near the end of October, I'm in assessment mode for what's working and what's not. My three weaknesses over the last few years have been sticking to an exercise routine, sticking to an eating plan, and sleeping.
Sleeping: Over the last 15 years, I've struggled to sleep more than five or six hours a night, any given night. Looking at my Fitbit, in this same month four years ago, I didn't even make an average of six hours a night. There were two nights I slept not at all. However, in September of this year, I averaged more than seven hours a night, and no night was less than 6. I have no doubt that I'll hit that average for October, as well. I slept more than 7-1/2 hours last night!
Exercising: There is possibly some connection with the fact that I'm sleeping well with the fact that I've also successfully established an exercise routine that works very well for me. I go to the gym four or five days in a row (leave home at 5:30, back about 7 a.m., shower, start my day), then skip a day to let my knees recover, then go back again. This averages out to five or six days in the gym every week, and I've just passed my three-month mark on doing that yesterday.
Eating: This is the space where I've not been able to make it work of late. I started logging my food again yesterday - not to restrict my eating (not yet anyway), just to begin the habit. That's pretty much where I plan to be in November. Not beating up on myself, just getting back in the habit of logging--of being truthful, of owning what I eat, as well as what I do for exercise and how I sleep. I want to see if my calories go up more on my cardio days--if I'm hungrier when I do harder exercise routines, etc. Then I want to sit down and actually think about how I choose to make accommodations for that--for instance, on the day I skip exercise, I can probably drop my calories significantly and not feel as deprived, then add those calories back in on my cardio days. I need to make changes I can live with, and that are sustainable over long periods of time. I haven't found that yet, but I hope and believe I will.

How did you manage not to sleep?
In 2015, I was in the worst course of all I've taken so far, and was sleeping about 4 hours a night because that's all I had time for, but I need to sleep a bit or I simply can't function at all. Still I'd actually like to be able to stay up all night ... it would be handy now and then.
I've found that when I get 7.5 hours a night or more, I usually tend to eat less because I don't feel like I need the food to keep my brain awake.

Good morning. Hope it is a good day for all of you. I am going to TRY to get to the gym today as it $2/senior day. I figure I have to start somewhere. Have been logging my food but going over. Not by much though. I'm hoping the granddaughter is going to school today or my plans will be shot. Going to find a farmers market to use up my coupons.

I hopped on the scale and happy to tell you I am 51 lbs down from my highest weight.. im so very happy and I am 34 lbs from my goal... I can do this..
the Dr got my email and will talk to me Thursday.. I am hoping he is in agreement with what I am asking.
Aimee and he had a meeting yesterday afternoon and she loves having me sit up front with her she likes working with me when Mary is up there there is just so much drama and Mary cant talk and work at the same time, and she talks all the time.. so we shall see what happens

Machka - I've pulled all-nighters most of my life... and as long as they're relatively infrequent, I can still function. When I started my first business with a partner back in the 1990s (I was in my late 30s), we were doing technical writing contracts for Hewlett-Packard, and we pulled all-nighters about twice a month, as there were just the two of us, and we were both also full-time students. It was good money - but I did find out that once I'm past 36 hours awake, I am essentially a zombie. After one of those marathon sessions, I literally forgot my way home, and just draped myself on the steering wheel sobbing. I eventually found my way, but couldn't tell you how.
And certainly couldn't do it now! My functional limit now seems to be that I can operate on about 3 to 4 hours sleep, but will fall over and nap uncontrollably by about 4 p.m. the following day.
And your observation is correct for me, as well - I tend to eat more the day after the minimal sleep nights, as it wakes me back up again. When I'm up all night, however, I tend not to eat at all, leaving me a very cranky kitty by the time I do fall over and sleep again.

On my long, long, long distance bicycle rides, there's very little sleep. With the right planning, I could manage fairly well in my 30s and early 40s, but in recent years, I've struggled.
A 400 km ride, for example, we'd do straight through with no sleep and finish anywhere between 21 and 25 hours. But in order to do that, I'd sleep longer for 2 or 3 days before the event and then plan to get about 12-15 hours of sleep after.

Did 30 min of Leslie Sansone’s Walk away the Pounds DVD. Leaving in a bit for my blood test. The plan for tomorrow is to take the water aerobics class.
Speaking of water aerobics, I ordered a new chlorine resistant bathing suit for myself. I guess I’ve had the one I use at home for about 7 or 10 years. Boy, you’d think you’d get a longer life out of it…lol
Called to find out what’s the earliest I can get there for the blood and that’s when they told me the soonest you can get the blood drawn is 5 days before your appointment. That’s the first time I ever heard this. Well, it’s more than 5 days until my regular appt but I’m just going to go in and take my chances. She said the reason is because they don’t keep the blood for more than 5 days and sometimes the doctor orders add’l tests. To me, this doesn’t make much sense. They already have the blood. So why can’t they use that? Anyway, I don’t foresee him asking for any add’l tests. Update: Just got back. They don’t ask the MD for the orders for the blood work before a person comes in for it because they have people who don’t come and then the orders expire. To them, it’s just more work.
Last night I was eating an APPLE and then temporary bridge came out. An apple! I’ve been so, so careful to eat only on the other side of my mouth but a piece of apple drifted over. I didn’t even bite down. I guess the apple got under the bridge and pulled it away. Update: I go this afternoon for them to put it back in

I multitask when I eat.
I eat dinner with my husband at the table. We started doing that after he came home from the hospital. For years before that, we didn't do that, we just ate while doing whatever we were doing, but he wanted to eat together when he came home. So for dinner, I pause what I'm doing and eat.
But the rest of my day, eating happens while I'm doing 101 other things. I can type one-handed while shovelling food in my mouth with the other! And practically nothing I eat takes more than a few minutes to prepare. Lunch is probably the longest at about 5 minutes.

Yes, this year I have a subscription. I tend to subscribe for a year and then stop for a year or two (with any magazine) because all seem to repeat over and over again. It has been a few years so I started a subscription at the beginning of this year (which will expire soon). I got November's edition about two weeks ago.1 -

Neck still sore starting to think JR had another growth spurt hubby injured himself too lifting him! His backs hurting now terribly. Hard to get a 2yr old to stand still on a scale to check even then he wants to hold something so that lessens the actual amount.
JR has started the sneaking toys 🧸 into the trash can 🗑 phase so in the pantry it goes.
JR tall enough to reach water faucets we own the tallest sinks on the market so now wet teddy bear to arm sleeves when he finds something to stand on. Climbing 🧗♀️ on everything he can even No-No things so I’ve been busy. His new favorite thing to say every second...”Don’t FALL!!!!”
Lol 😂 shows how much we have said it he even says it to the tv 📺 y cats 🐈 outside the window.
Didn’t weight myself sometimes got to skip a day when I fill like the numbers would stress me out.
Brunch- 1 slice pizza 🍕,1 Apple 🍎 peeked y sliced, Diet Coke even tho it’s bad for my stomach y teeth 🦷 enamel 8oz.
Dinner - maybe chicken chili or chicken cheese quesadilla not sure yet but I want chicken y Crystal light peach 🍑 teas. If not then leftovers
Snack - cereal in unsweetened almond milk 🥛 or toast with egg whites or so will see just not sure yet.
Hard to cook with a hyper 2yr old dead set on causing chaos lol 😂. Good thing it will end by age 4 .

There is only 1 UFO museum in town. There are many other ‘normal’ museums like art and history museums. I’ve not been to the UFO museum but have gone to the Goddard art and history one. I’ve also never been to Valley of Fire though that is one I’ve been wanting to go to.

I got up at 4 this morning so I'd have enough time for dog walking, breakfast for the pets and me, and my morning spiritual practices and still be showered and dressed to go with Jake to the eye doctor at 8. 11 000 steps and 2 and half hours of walking .4

Dogs are good and i took a trip to Costco.. thats a dangerous place but got keto stuff, and a winter jacket for my DGD.now for a rest and then into cleaning mode..

Rori: You are lucky! I can’t imagine ordering groceries from our Walmart. It is not one of the big stores with loads to offer. They call this a starter store. There are NO fresh vegies, nor fresh meat, nor milk. They do have canned milk and a decent pharmacy and vitamin selection. :ohwell:

Michele - So sorry to hear about your crown. What a pain! Were you able to pop the temporary crown back in until you could get in to have them reglue it?
Carol - I can't even imagine not brushing my teeth for six months! Your poor dad must have been so uncomfortable! I can nap, but only if I set an alarm so prevent me from sleeping for more than 30 minutes.
Rita - To be honest the UFO museum is kind of tacky but I love it anyway. I also love Cline's Corners. I have kind of a soft spot for tourist traps!
I see we've been talking about oatmeal - how timely! I eat it nearly every day. I make hot oatmeal when the weather is cool and refrigerator oats during the summer. I never knew it had a day of its own though. Every now and then in the winter I'll make Malt-o-Meal instead.
Well, my friends, I have to vent just a little. I adore my husband, but... I suggested that he make sure and eat before our workout this afternoon, and he informed me that he already had: A bowl of oatmeal with blueberries (because I cooked it for both of us for breakfast, cookies, and a stroopwafel. And now he is nuking a burrito for lunch. Oh, the challenges of being married to a skinny man! Seriously, if I ate as many cookies as this man does I wouldn't be able to get out of bed.
Time to get ready for the gym.

Oatmeal and fruit is my usual breakfast. Sometimes I add peanut butter. I would much prefer fruit and yogurt, but I can’t consume anything high in calcium within 4 hours of my thyroid medication. Yogurt usually becomes an evening snack.
I’ve been dealing with sinus issues too. I was hopeful it would resolve on its own, but apparently I have managed to infect a cut on my hand. The doctor thinks it is from the sinus infection, so now I’m on Augmentin. Waiting for my daughter’s meeting to finish so I can take her to get her teeth cleaned. It’s a run-around day.
