@Terytha wow 75 lb in a year! Way to go! That’s roughly 6.25 lb a week so just about where they say you should be (maybe a little more or less depending on where you started). My goal is 1 lb a week which is 4 lb a month, which makes 48 lb a year so you’re way ahead of that! Go you!5

I'm all in! I have 1 pound to lose before I'm at 199 - would love to get to my prepregnancy weight of 165 and then hopefully 155 with more muscle mass!8

@deesibecoool Welcome! You have found a great group of ladies in this thread! So much support and inspiration here! Cravings are tricky. I have learned for me that denying myself or saying something is off limits is the fastest way to start a binge. If I want a cheeseburger and fries. I will get a small or child size portion. Log it and move on. Or if I feel like I want to splurge on a certain food I make sure to eat lighter meals before and after and try to get some extra activity in to allow for it. Usually that keeps me within my daily calorie allowance. Good or bad, I log it. Accountability is what helps me keep things in perspective. Life's not perfect and we shouldn't expect ourselves to be either!
@mmccloy12 , I love the saying this is a marathon not a sprint!! I think you are doing amazing!
@Terytha You have done amazing! 75lbs in a year is something to definitely be proud of. Enjoy your break! It is well deserved!
@bluffgirl67 You are still rocking it with the exercise! I am glad to hear about the good news on mom!!
@torihudson6 Way to hit your December goals!!
@aliciap0116 Your pictures are awesome!
@lindaporter2018 I also started at 288lbs back at the end of March beginning of April this year. When I started I didn't think my goal was achievable. But day by day, week by week it gets closer. I think having your daughter with you is the best reason to allow yourself extra calories! I love it that you all are going to hit the gym together!! That's awesome! Enjoy your time together!!
@imbatmilf Welcome! I browsed MFP for a long time before feeling comfortable enough to post or join a thread. I think you will find everyone in this thread supportive and friendly. I find coming here on helps inspire me. I hope you find this to be true as well!!
@sharpdust You are killing it with your hiking!!
Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all have a great weekend!!9 -
@Aerohead21 I think that’s 6.25 pounds a month (as opposed to 6.25 pounds a week). That’s 1.5 pounds a week which is awesome @Terytha !7

I went out for pizza with my best friend tonight. We've been close since high school. She was my maid of honor. The closest thing to a sister I've ever had.
She's swiftly becoming wider than she is tall. She wheezes when she walks. Her blood pressure is really high and she gets sick a lot. It's hard to watch. I say nothing because what could I say? She knows already. Her problem is mental not ignorance. But it's scary to see her slowly self destruct, and to remember and realize how I was in that exact same boat a year ago. It makes me sad, for her now and me then, both of us feeling hopeless and resigned, unworthy.
We're all worthy. There's always hope.14 -
Hi everyone. I would like to leave 19 stone in 2019 and see the New Year in the 18s.
My start weight was 20st 4lbs (284lbs). I am currently 19st 10lbs (276lbs).
My goal is to see 18st 13lbs on December 31st!
3 simple goals to get me started:
Track all meals
Drink 6 glasses of water
Walk 30 minutes a day
Good luck everyone - thanks for your support 😃
10 -
@Nads36 great goals. even just tracking changes what you eat i think. it does for me anyway. will be great to never see those 20s again!4

Greetings, peeps!
I'm slowly getting my life right and organized here in Korea. I just got a microwave yesterday and tomorrow someone is giving me a free toaster oven. Apart from that, I've only got two little burners in my apartment, so while I initially cooked chicken and veggies, I was just eating them cold and when that got old, I was just eating lots of carbs that didn't need any cooking or heating. (Reheating on the stove didn't appeal)
Today was the start of my winter break and I've got 12 whole days to explore and check out the area. (I've been here since Dec 2nd, but my job had me working 6 day weeks, so this is my first full weekend off!!!)
Hoping to find a local gym and maybe buy some weights for home. Then come up with an exercise plan I can follow once work starts up again.
Here's to everyone having a happy holiday!!!11 -
Welcome @Nads36 and @amygallihermfp glad you found us
@CLAWSMITH Hope you are feeling better soon. It's no fun being sick but esp at the holidays.
@lindamtuck2018 Great news on another med decrease and getting to come off of another. You are doing wonderful on taking control of your health.
@bdbjswbrb Way to enjoy the special goodies and still keep losing. Fitting it all in is what this path is about and you just rocked it.
@stefsc1 Glad you checked in. Don't put extra stress on yourself with goals that are really pushing it. Set them at just a bit of a stretch but completely doable while you feeling down/pressured. You have had a fantastic year and no reason you can't change strategy when needed.
@mmccloy12 Yay for dropping below 250!! Oh yes, tired of thinking about eating. But we have to eat forever and mindless eating is what got me here. Mindless eating will get me heavier and I don't want that. So yep gotta think about it always. As your quote says we are doing this to be healthy.
@VoicedJoy22 Thank you for the link.
@Terytha You've had a great year! Taking a pause will be fine and by logging everything you will see how the change affects you. Things like how much/how often can I break and still be doing fairly well. Enjoy the season.
@sharpdust Happy you are getting the hikes in and in a better place mentally in regards to the scales. If you are doing the work then you know things are going well. The scales are just one of the tools for tracking and use them in whatever way works for you.
@Candyn617 Couldn't agree more "Accountability is what helps me keep things in perspective. Life's not perfect and we shouldn't expect ourselves to be either!"
@RavenStCloud Happy to hear you are getting settled in. Having the toaster oven and microwave will make a big difference for you. Hard to imagine how back in the day and not so long ago we got along without those. We didn't get a microwave until my senior year in high school back in the 80's. Now I would so miss having one.
I'm feeling off today. Think a fibro flare is fast approaching. I got in 15m on elliptical and just couldn't push for another 5m. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Hello everyone!! Sick baby the past two days so I haven’t done nearly as much as I’d have liked but I’m still on track. I noticed I have been dehydrated so I’m adding more drinking to my to do list. It’s been hard with a clingy little baby. I have twins so it’s hard because it’s not like the other one is NOT needing my attention.6

Lose 8 pounds: 2.6/8
Ugh! Gained weight this week. I was down to 218.5 on Wed, then up to 219 today. I've been eating too many carbs and haven't had dinner at home for the last 5 days, and haven't been drinking enough water - so no wonder. With Christmas coming, I'll be lucky to even lose 3 pounds this month.
Still, I did lose another 1/2 inch off my waist. So there is progress, even if it doesn't show up on the scale. It's just a difficult month with so many social events going on.9 -
My Nov/Dec challenge log:
Challenge Starting Weight: 310.0 (11-1-2019)
Current Weight: 293.2
Challenge End Goal Weight: 300.0 290.0 - this week may have buggered my chances at my revised goal, but will keep trying!

Week 3 - 11/22/2019 - 299.8 lbs (-10.2)
Week 4 - 11/29/2019 - 298.5 lbs (-11.5) Happy Thanksgiving and Birthday
Week 5 - 12/06/2019 - 296.5 lbs (-13.5)
Week 6 - 12/13/2019 - 295.2 lbs (-14.8)
Week 7 - 12/20/2019 - 293.2 lbs (-16.8)
Week 8 - 12/27/2019 - Merry Christmas
Had a great workout this morning, my best one yet in regards to getting that heart rate up and dripping sweat all over the place. I feel stronger each week. Has been a struggle with weight this week, but overall coming down gradually. Unless the scale gods shine very favorably upon me, not going to make revised target 2 month goal of 290 by the end of the month, but I'll be close!
Had my work holiday party tonight, today's calories are up and I am not feeling guilty about it. I worked hard this am. It's just one day. I still logged it to the best of my ability (painful, but accounted for). I have promptly scraped the leftover food I brought home into a bowl to feed to the chickens, minus things they shouldn't eat like chocolate and onions. They'll be feasting tomorrow. I'll eat the eggs, will be better for me, anyway.
Speaking of, the girls are laying like fiends right now. I've got a huge basket of the most lovely variably colored eggs you ever saw. Going to need to take more in to work / to the boys' teachers as the girls are overproducing our consumption right now. Happy chooks. They are a teensy bit spoiled.
I won't get my one-on-one with the trainer this next week as my days off are the trainer's days of (Xmas eve and Xmas), but I will be in the gym on Tuesday getting a workout in to keep up my promise to myself of a minimum of 3 gym workouts weekly. Don't wish to break my streak.
Currently working on:
1) Continuing to log accurately
2) Increasing my water consumption - Drinking two cups first thing after waking up, to start, trying to remember to get that water in on my work days, which is a struggle.
3) Continue my 3 scheduled weekly workouts at the gym minimum, trying to get up to 4 weekly.
I'm not good at the individual responding, but welcome new comers and congrats on everyone's progress. I wish you more joy than stress this holiday season! Hug your loved ones and know each and every one of you are beautiful.12 -
lindaporter2018 wrote: »So I have a question...many MFP members are doing 1200 a day to reach their goal weight. What happens when you reach your goal weight and move to maintenance? Does MFP let you know the number of calories you need to maintain that weight?
My maintenance is around 1400-1500. I lose weight 1000-1200. I gain weight anything over 1500. I have a sedentary job (mostly sitting and typing/writing), but do water jogging 3 time a week typically for an hour. I do my regular housekeeping, and gardening. Unfortunately, that's my metabolism. I don't drink anything with sugar, except that my coffee does have 1/4 and 1/4. No sugar drinks or I can't make my nutritional needs. It just means that everything you eat - you have to be mindful of. I caved yesterday and had McDonalds when my son brought some home for me, and the day was pretty close to 1500 - so a neutral day. I'm trying to be extra mindful today.3 -
Aerohead21 wrote: »@lindaporter2018 when you change your goals for how many pounds to lose per week it changes your calorie allowance
You can also manually adjust it, as needed - based on what you are achieving, and where you want to go. Not an exact science for everyone, I'd recommend slight adjustments only from their recommendations. I had to reduce my calories slightly and increase fats.2 -
lindaporter2018 wrote: »@torihudson6 this is my absolute favorite one! The best place to get them is TJMaxx because they sell them in packs of 15 for $8.99 where as Walmart sells them in packs of 8 for the same price.

The sugars are probably high because of the cranberries....I have to watch those. I opt typically for prunes instead for dried fruit, the sunsweet prunes one at a time. They are individually wrapped 20-25 cals each depending on size, and have the crinkle of opening like candy plus actually are naturally functional.

@lindaporter2018
Why is the next 6 months even more difficult than the last 7 years? You got this!!! We can't fix what people missed, totally out of our control, but we can remember them as they were - perhaps even in more positive light. Focus on who is here with you now, that's my 2c anyway - don't miss out on the present. Yes, harder said than done perhaps....3 -
@lindamtuck2018;
Very nice progress!!! Fantastic Keep on trucken. We will be trucken together. I think I can.... I think I can...I thought I could...I thought I could.5 -
@HurleyHurley – I also keep my information in Excel, tracking my weight and 3-day and 5-day moving averages and charts! I haven’t made my charts as pretty as yours! I did it because I find the charts available in MFP to be lacking. I even added linear regression to my chart, and I know they say that weight loss is not linear but for the short-term analysis it has been helpful in setting realistic goals. We’ll see if it continues to hold, I think as long as I’ve got a fair amount to lose weight loss will be more or less linear but as I approach goal not so much. Also, don’t give up hope that you’ll meet your goal. When I was in the high 200s I could drop some extra weight easily for no reason at all except I stuck with my plan.
Congratulations to all who are persevering through the challenges of this month! @sharpdust , so happy to see you getting through those hikes, you can do it! @lindaporter2018 – great job getting to the gym even when feeling down, and how lucky are you to have such a supportive partner. I am now only disappointed that your MFP handle is not in fact “brownsugar” (although it is probably already taken)! @aliciap0116 , so happy you’ve been able to make progress despite your gym being closed. It’s hard work figuring out how to achieve goals when your plan needs to change, and I am inspired by how you made that work!
@bluffgirl67 – I’m sorry you might be heading for a flare…I hope you are wrong or it is short-lived! In any case, you’ve already gotten a wonderful gift with the good news about your Momma!
For those who posted their side-by-side photos, I offer my appreciation. Some of the most inspiring threads I’ve followed on MFP are the ones where people post their progress photos. I was thinking of posting the same at the end of the month. I just need to find photos from when I was larger. And to take some photos now. I am very camera-shy – still!
To all who are new, welcome to our group!
Height: 5'6"
SW (09/08/2019): 239.2 lbs
December SW (12/1): 210.0 lbs
12/8/19: 206.8
12/15/19: 205.2
12/22/19: 202.2
December GW: 202.0 lbs
GW: 150 lbs (then reconsider)
My goals for December are:
- Cardio for 45-60 min, 5-6 times a week, 3 of the sessions Couch-to-5K workouts – 7 days!
- Advance in the Couch-to-5K plan to week 2 workouts – Done! There’s not much excitement in upping the run time on the treadmill, and I’m not sure why. I hope that at least one of my C25K workouts can be outside each week, because the proof is in the workout somewhere, usually in how much further I can get in one workout!
- Core exercises at least 3 times a week – Check. Side planks continue to be the bane of my existence. One side is definitely weaker than the other. So I’m keeping the count/reps where they are for those until I can do them more easily. I’m advancing the counts/reps on all other core exercises.
- The Pants – I’m wearing the less-stretched-out pants and they’re hanging in there. I’m hoping that I get a bunch of gift cards for Christmas so I can buy more pants. Or I can start wearing dresses again – in January! I accidentally wore one of the old ones on Friday, and there were a few close calls. (@speyerj, I’m glad I gave you a laugh! No one would laugh harder or longer than me if I did lose my pants in the middle of the street in downtown Philly! Well, I’d at least make sure I made it across the street first!)
- Take better care of my skin in hopes it will start to regain its shape – for this week I was getting ready at the gym before work. I wasn’t able to do everything I like to do but made a reasonable effort.
Wow, you could knock me over with a feather! I know it may sound wild, but earlier this week my weight went way up and I thought there was no way I’d register a loss for the week, much less this large of a loss. On Thursday, my weight was 207.8 lbs! I knew it was at least partially water weight fluctuation, but I was really looking for an explanation. And it’s not as if it was all gone the next day. Was it related to TOM, when I’ve never really had an appreciable weight fluctuations like others have? Was it because I ate a large cookie AND a mini cannoli at a surprise (to me) holiday luncheon – even though I stuck with the plan and ate the lunch I brought that day? Was it related to changing my “running” routine to increase the amount of running – maybe I was retaining due to increased muscle activity? Too much going on to determine, and as dejected as I truly got I’m happy I stayed the course and talked myself through the rough patch. Really, I’ve been through rougher patches before. I’ll stick with the daily weighing for now because what I really look forward to is measuring, which I only do once a month. I can’t wait until next week to measure!
Will be continuing with the AM workouts until at least the third week in January, my last week covering for the person who is out on leave. As long as the cold weather is in effect, if I’m mostly doing gym workouts I might try to stick with the AM workouts throughout the winter. It’s difficult with my job. As long as I’m at this alternate work site or working independently at my regular work location, it’s doable. However, there are days when I absolutely must be in by 7:30 AM at the latest, and due to many factors I wouldn’t get to work on time those days even if I met the person opening the gym at 5:00 AM. In some ways, I can’t wait to be running my entire workout, because I get enough out of a 45 minute run and getting the 15 minutes back makes a difference! (If I miss the train to work by 30 seconds or 5 minutes, I still miss the train!)
I think today will be my 23rd consecutive day of cardio. Once again it is a beautiful day for December and since my workouts, especially the outdoor ones, are also my meditation I will be going to walk on the trail I’ve been walking the past few Sundays. This area trail is particularly challenging with the hills so I get a great walk in, and since it’s a 5-mile loop I’m guaranteed to get a nice workout!
I’ve got a lot of cookie baking to accomplish in the next few days. I made cookies last night and I did not sample a one even though some dough sampling may have been inevitable! So I’m glad I’m ahead of schedule with the weight goal. I've planned as best I could for the coming week, including taking control of the Christmas dinner.
Whether you’ve decided to keep trucking through the holidays or you’re strategically standing down in maintenance mode, both are work – so I wish everyone the strength to continue your journey through the end of the month and the end of the year !

@IsETHome I love those prunes too! They are awesome for my sweet tooth!
Regarding the next 6 months I don’t plan on missing out on any of the upcoming festivities but I’d for sure love for my big sister to be there. Our daughter will be graduating from The George Washington University (Elliott School) on the National Mall and my big sis will miss that. She missed our daughter playing at Carnegie Hall. It’s moments like this when we buy a ticket next to me and save a seat for her. Just miss her so so much! She was like my momma🥰. I know she’s with us and rooting her on.6 -
@mmdeveau Thank you so much for the idea! I have now changed my username from lindaporter2018 to BrownSugar174🥰10

Eating at maintenance is hard! I'm just used to 1500 calories a day now, I don't know how to eat more. I don't snack, and the usual high calorie snack suggestions don't work because I can't handle nuts. I managed it for Friday because we had pizza, but my usual diet doesn't lend itself to my current maintenance level.
I think rather than particularly trying for maintenance this week, I'm just gonna eat whatever. If I eat 1500, ok. If I eat more, ok.
Tomorrow we're going to make another attempt at baking melonpan. It's a soft white bun covered in a cookie, and it's very hard to make (we have always failed), but that's the fun of baking. Just trying.6 -

Seriously I love it though!! I'm so excited!5 -
I had a little NSV at my seasonal job today! I work in a women’s plus size department store and a coworker of mine had brought some dresses to give away and a coworker came out and was like “you probably wouldn’t fit these, you’re more like a size 14 or 16, right?” And I beamed haha. I’m a size 18, but I have always felt waaay bigger than I looked, so for her to assume I was a few dress sizes smaller was really flattering and a confident boost.15

@torihudson6 that's fantastic feedback! !3

December goals
99.9kg - again! currently 100.2, surely I can do this!!currently 98.6kg, looking good!

Late posting my progress. It was a busy weekend with family. We had an early Christmas with one of my sisters because she won’t be able to join the family Christmas.
Height: 5’4”
SW: 307
CW: 12/2 - 223.8
12/9 - 220.6
12/14 - 217.6 (Birthday Week-end 🥳)
12/21 - 217
GW: 165
December GW: 219 (actually exceeded it!)
I’m trying to enjoy my holiday and not lose focus on my goals. I was able to raid my sister’s closet for clothing to support on my weight loss journey. Really helps not having to buy new clothes. She also gave me three fantastic outfits to choose from for New Year’s Eve! I told I may have to do a costume change 😂
Hope everyone has a very Happy Holiday🎄🎅🏽‼️8 -
@brownsugar174 I love your new name. I couldn’t get your nickname out of my head either!!
@orangequilt enjoy your trip! You’ve set yourself up for a great vacation!
@torihudson6 I love your coworker’s comment So happy for you and you have been working so hard.
@mmdeveau congrats on your progress! You have been doing so well this month and it is really paying off!
@hurleyhurley you are also crushing it this month! Nice job! Love that you have fresh eggs!!
@speyerj that’s a tiny gain in the midst of a landslide. I’ll bet it catches up when you are back to normal. I’m glad you are seeing non scale progress.
We’re about to start your cookie baking over here today and tomorrow, followed by fondue on Christmas Eve, both traditions on my husband’s side. I’m going to make a huge beautiful Christmas Eve salad with mixed greens, pomegranate seeds, applies and pecans and focus my efforts there. I also survived a pizza party we hosted last night without too much damage (1-1/2 pieces). We have about three (amazing) pizzas left over which I put into the freezer and a tray of store bought cookies that I sent to my husband’s office. And did pretty well at a party we attended on Saturday. I am thankful these events haven’t been as tempting as I thought they would be.
Hope everyone has a great week!10 -

Just finished my TOM over the weekend. I'm starting to see some of the bloat drop off, but I'm still hanging out around the 242s. I still would love to get back to my pre-Thanksgiving weight of 240.4, lol, but without illness.
I have to accept that maintaining an 8 lb loss from Thanksgiving to today is still a decent accomplishment for me.
I am down an inch off my chest, an inch off my hips, 2.5 inches off my stomach, and 0.5 off my right thigh this month (-5 inches total).
It's getting hard to balance being in multiple MFP groups, lol. As well as trying to stay away from holiday goodies at work.
Keep up the good work, ladies!

Today's weight is back up to 242 point something, because I had a high-sodium pasta last night for dinner. I just knew it'd get me. I'll have to take measurements later today and see if anything changed.
