@sharpdust, it’s always an amazing feeling when we feel we can take control back from binging. I’m happy to hear you had a good weekend!
@BrownSugar174, you look GREAT! Go you! I would’ve also done a happy dance. I realized we aren’t friends, so I also shot you a friend request on here!
@fleetwitch, that’s great. My mom has severe arthritis, so I’ve seen how painful and difficult it can be. Water aerobics is a great place to start.
@theleadmare, I’m sorry to hear that. Sending comfort your way.3 -
The little germ monsters at work got me sick. I went to bed on Sunday with a little bit of congestion and touch of a sore throat, now everything from my throat up hurts and I am hemorrhaging snot. Gross. No gym for me for the next few days, since I had to walk up one flight of stairs and I almost didn't make it cuz I CAN'T BREATHE. Why are children so darn gross??? Ugh.11

@LilPetesMama Great loss for the week!
@sharpdust Nice job on taking back control. So glad you are finding ways to help overcome the urge to binge. Keep walking the miles away.
@BrownSugar174 You look amazing!! I would be doing a twist and shout too.
@theleadmare Sending thoughts for a good biopsy result.
@mikaylaodinpresley Welcome to the thread. You're almost there and have a very nice logging streak going. Quite a few of us are hoping to drop below 200 this month. We can do it!
@fleetwitch Congrats on not giving up and starting to make changes. Working exercise around health issues is a struggle and you've made a great choice with the water aerobics.
Today is yoga/strength day for me. I'm feeling the yoga but not the strength since I had a small flare yesterday. A weather system is kicking my tail (hence the garbled non-proof read post from yesterday) but I'm gonna kick it back. Have a great day everyone.8 -

that's so weird. I wonder if it's because the disagree button is on the side where someone would scroll down. It has to be a mistake, nothing to disagree with!! And those 14s look awesome on you!! Hope they were cheap though because the way you are going you will be into a 12 before too long!7 -

January is off to a good start! I lost 2.6 of the 8.2 I gained over the holidays. Still hoping to reach 190 by the end of the month to officially undo the damage I did, but I’m happy I’m successfully transitioning back into things.
@BrownSugar174 you look AWESOME! You should be very proud! I’m sure the disagree was probably an accident. No one could disagree with your profess!😊
@RavenStCloud I’m sorry you’re sick. That’s always rough. I love kids, but they sure do spread sickness like it’s their job, especially when you get a bunch together. Hopefully you recover soon.
@Terytha I’m sorry for your cholesterol news. That is a tough blow to take, but you are still in control. You have still made milestones with your health by losing weight, and the balance with dropping your numbers may be hard, but you are capable of finding that. Don’t count 2020 out yet. Things can still turn around!
@orangequilt awesome progress! It sounds like you’re well on your way to hit more milestones.5 -
Ugh I did so good for 4 days--went to the gym all 4 days, drank so much water that I think half of my fitbit steps were just from walking back and forth to the bathroom, ate pretty well. And then last night, had a family dinner so didn't go to the gym, and totally overdid it with food and wine and PIE for dessert. I did NOT step on the scale this morning because I knew it would be ugly! Back to the gym today!8
-
Hey.
SW- 248
Gw- 140
My january goals are to focus on me and not what others think of me. Eg go to the gym and do my thing without thinking people are judging me.
I would like to lose 7lb this month, if more then great.
Make new friends on journeys too and get to the gym minimum 3 times a week.11 -

One day shouldn’t break you lovely. Back at it and you’ll see your results.7 -
@MsDollyDimple I love how you referred to @DaniMerc72 as “lovely”🥰💞4

Hey everyone. I am feeling pretty good with myself. I passed up dessert the other day and reached for peanuts instead. I'm trying to make sure to get the fruits in everyday and so far so good. I have told me self that I will eat sweets when I want to and not when it is around me. I'm going away in February and I am taking a tour that involves cake and tea. I paid for it and I am going to eat. So for now I am not eating any processed sugar. I have been going to the gym and taking classes which helps me with the weight training. So its all good. I feel good with the choices I have made. Look out scale here i come.7

7 day update.
I'm doing pretty well with food. I've switched to Lower carb alternatives for our usual meals so it's not a total change. We've always had lean meats (extra lean Turkey mince, chicken) for our dinners. We have the same every week, as it's easier. I'm having low carb pasta, cauliflower rice and low carb noodles, instead of the usual. Feel free to add me to see my diaries.
I've been under on my macros but I haven't been getting to the gym as much as I'd like. I ran saturday, then this morning, knocking off 34 seconds, and about 3 minutes from my run the week before. I'm hoping the lack of weights balances the lack of macros.
I'm weighing once a month so we'll see on the 30th if anythings changed.
Keep up the good work! Dont let one meal, one day or one missed gym session stop you! Theres still 24 days left in January and 358 days left in the year! It's not over!!

Trying to curb a binge eating episode that has caused me to gain 40ish pounds. Back in the summer I was about 185, exercising often, then a medication plus quitting smoking sparked a binge. I'm struggling.12

Hello!
I've just re-dedicated myself to a "better for me" lifestyle. Over the last 2 years, I have made changes to my life and/or had things happend that I let things go from a healthier 160 lbs now to my largest weight EVER, Oct. 2019 was at 201 lbs. After I saw that weight, I will admit that I just sunk into a depression. I started thinking that I was over the top and I'll never get back to the way things were. I started thinking OMG, I will just get bigger and bigger. I sorta gave up on me and continued to eat. NOW, Jan 2020, I haven't gotten on a scale due to what damage 2.5 months has done. I've decided that I'm not going to get on the scale until Jan 31st. Yesterday, I started back on Atkins (I lost 50 lbs, 5 years ago on this). Although, my life is different than 5 years ago, I know that if I just take it day by day, I will start to see some results but I also know that at almost 50 years old and taking hormones, that this will be a little more difficult than it was then.
What I am looking for it support and motivation! I work for a Candy and Food Broker and I have candy and snacks, at my fingertips and for FREE all day, everyday! It's very hard somedays! However, I've worked this job for 15 years and I've done it once, I can do it again! That's my motto!
My Jan goals:
Just 5 lbs, everything else would be a bonus!
Drink less beer (I love my beer)
Exercise more (anything would be more than now, I have a desk job and somedays I don't move from my chair)
Think before I eat (chips are my weekness! I've been eating pork rinds)
Drink more water (I used to drink a gallon a day, got down to NOTHING)
Love myself more (after I realized 20 lbs happened, I just don't look at myself any more, I don't dress up anymore)
Year Goal:
To just be healither (anything better than now would be a plus)
Eat more veggies/fruit9 -
@orangequilt Great way to kick off the month and year.
@gonna_reach_the_goal33 Very nice start to getting back down after the holiday gain. Keep it up and you will hit that 190 by month's end.
@DaniMerc72 One day off isn't going to completely derail you. Four good days and one bad one is way better than one good day and four bad ones. We all have those days. What helps some succeed and others not is their ability to acknowledge the slip, learn from it, and get back to work. Just log it and move on. You can do it.
@jenfra123 Props on making better choices. Your tea and cake tour sounds like so much fun. No reason to not take pleasure in something that you've paid for and isn't an every day occurrence. The work you're doing now will help when on your trip.
@pigtoprincess Love how you are still basically eating the same foods just with a few adjustments. I think making changes like that can be easier to stick with in the beginning and also easier to stay with in the long term. I know for me personally staying to foods I like with just a change to portion size or a similar lower calorie food is much easier than trying to eat stuff I don't really want. You are doing great with run times.
@HildyHefe Sorry you are struggling right now. I've never smoked but always heard how stopping can add on pounds. Plus medications and changes to them can play havoc on our hormones, food urges etc. I hope you can find a balance that works well for you soon. For now focus on something small and easy like just logging. That will give a big picture of where to improve when you are ready to make those changes. If you enjoyed the exercise choose that as a starting point. Every little thing you can do will help. Come here to read, post, find support, and learn what is working for others that you can use. Visit the other threads too esp the success one. I go there quite a bit for inspiration. Hugs
@KymberBurns Congrats on taking the first step to getting back to a healthier lifestyle. Life happens. The hard part is not letting it take us off course. I can only imagine the temptation of being around free candy all the time. I love my chocolate. Don't be afraid to look at yourself just because of the weight. Dress up for you not other people if it makes you feel better. We have to learn to love ourselves and do things just for us. Society/magazines want to make us think only skinny people are pretty and worthy of self love. That's not true. For me real beauty is about how someone embraces life and makes other people feel. You've been successful before and I know you can be again.

I have had a major lack of sleep, that normally leads to a massive binge. Plus side is that I did not binge but I did eat at maintenance today which just draws my journey 1 day longer. Not huge in the span of the rest of my life. Spending time with my kids making cookies was well worth it.8

Hi everyone, oh my goodness there are so many posts and so much exciting stuff happening on this thread, that I feel really behind! I've kept up on reading but haven't posted in a few days.
@BrownSugar174 way to go on your size 14 jeans!!!!!!! I love your expression in the picture. I loved it so much I tried to like it and click "inspiring" but apparently MFP doesn't let you click more than one reaction, haha.
@Terytha I am so surprised that cholesterol can go up when you lose weight, like others I was hoping mine would go down a bit. I'm sorry for the bad news on that front. Don't forgot you have lost 70 lbs and think of all the other health benefits that come with that! I doubt your doctor will be grumpy about that!
It's so great to see so much support and enthusiasm on this thread- makes me feel inspired. I'm having a bit of a hard time adjusting to "post holiday" life, and having to get up and get my kids ready for school and out the door. It was so nice to have a break from that part of our schedule. I'm struggling a bit with finding time to exercise, and the weather has been so crappy here so it's hard to feel like going outside for walks. I can do it though- last night I found the time to hop on the treadmill for 15 minutes and that is way better than nothing. Also, January is only one week down- plenty of January left to make good healthy things happen!

Nasty cold got me to the doctor for the first time in a long time! Stepped on the scale, and informed her, that the scale was most certainly broken!!!!
In any event, I’m thanking that cold for getting me to that wake up call!
Dec 18 SW 277.7lbs
Jan 7. CW 270.4lbs
Proud of myself for being able to make some changes over the holidays!!
My goals are simple. I want to continue on being mindful of what I’m putting in my mouth.
I want to learn to appreciate the slow and steady approach to losing. Instead of resenting a -1lb difference on the scale I will embrace the fact that I have broken the cycle of gaining.
I will continue to track and record my foods combined with intermittent fasting, slowly introducing more cardio.
I will be completing my first 5k in April😬.
I will slowly but surely get myself to ONEderland, and trust the process.
Good luck all!

Life is making me so anxious and sad. Food has always been my comfort and I’m not turning to it, so I’m feeling a bit lost. Because of my mental health I have certain daily goals and yesterday I couldn’t meet them. Today I wouldn’t allow myself an excuse but it literally took me all day to motivate myself to complete them. I guess it’s good I’m not falling into old habits at the very moment but I don’t have a back up plan to help me make it through.7
-
I have to mention, since working out everyday I have been sleeping though the night. It's been amazing. I have night anxiety so I pass out when I'm tired but when I wake to go pee or for whatever reason I could not fall back asleep if my life depended on it. These past 7 days - sleeping like a baby. love it.10

You give me hope, as I sit here in size 20's that I'll see a 12.
(Though I'm good with whatever will fit me when I get down to the weight I need to be. I tend to carry junk in the trunk and might have to size up to allow for that.)

I would love to join this group!
Actually just made a poster of my goals for 2020 on the weekend.

Weight as of January 1 was 97.5kgs.

Logging my food and exercise in myfitnesspal is already helping.

So many posts to read! I can't respond to everyone, but for every new person who posted, welcome! I'm glad you found us. Looking forward to learning more about you and following your journey.
@Terytha, I'm sorry to hear that your numbers went up after losing so much weight. If you MD does give you a hard time, then I think you need a new doc! You are doing everything you can to control those numbers through diet and exercise. If that's not working, then he needs to do a better job of helping you manage it. This isn't your failure, it's his.
@brownsugar174 - Look at you! The jeans look great! Congratulations.
@theleadmare - ((((Hugs)))) As Tom Petty said, "The waiting is the hardest part". I hope you get good news.
@Aerohead21 - also ((((Hugs))))
@fleetwitch - I'm so happy for you. I can feel your excitement and it excites me too. Take a bow for finding a way a fun way to add exercise.
@DaniMerc72 - one day isn't going to undo a week's worth of great effort. Yes, it might seem that way temporarily, but that's cause carbs make you retain water, again, temporarily. Family Dinners and other social engagements are important and I bet you had a great time. It's okay if you indulge once in a while. Eventually you'll find a way to work it into your plan and it will be less of an indulgence. It's my belief that there's no such thing as bad food, just bad logging. Keep up the great work.
@HildyHefe - I think my tendency to snack compulsively started when I quit smoking the first time. Yes, I eventually quit altogether, but it took me 4 tries. Come to think of it, I'm on my fourth serious try to at losing weight. Both are really hard. Doing them together - well I'm impressed. I'm sorry you are struggling. Let us know how we can help. I think there's a lot of collective wisdom here. And together, we must have lost an actual ton (2000 pounds) if we were to add up our collective losses.
@KymberBurns - of all the great goals you list, my favorite is "Love myself more". One we all should adopt. I'm always saying that accurate logging is the single most important thing one can do to lose weight, but I think you are on to something. Maybe loving yourself at every size is really the single most important thing one can do.8 -
Morning guys and gals!

I've finally made it into the 200s! I'm at 99.6 pounds down in total, so close to 100! I'm glad to be back on track after Christmas; November and December were very slow weight loss months, so I'm just focusing on re-dedicating myself to my goals. I've been working on a vision board for 2020, and obviously my health is a major part on there! I'm trying to set my monthly goals a little lower/more realistically, because the weight isn't going to just fall off like it did at the beginning. It's a hard pill to swallow! I don't want to work even harder, lmao.
I still haven't been posting here as much as I did before the holidays, but I pop in every day to read how everyone is doing! It's been a real mental struggle to fall short of goals I knew I was absolutely capable of achieving. I've gotten through it now, and am happy with what I've accomplished, but it took a long chunk of introversion to get there, haha. But I'm really looking forward to the rest of the year of these threads!14 -
@stefsc1 You are doing great! Congratulations on breaking the 200 barrier! The mental struggle is real and the way you explained sounds very realistic with healthy expectations. Here's to the new year!!8

Height 5'3
Starting weight: 260
Current weight: 245
My goals this year are:
Try to lose10lbs a month
Work out at least 4 times a week
Drink MORE water
Log my meals so I stay accountable
Stay away from diet soda and hopefully sugar free sweets
Be healthier overall7 -
Good morning! Well, its morning where I live. It's time for my Jan update, I'm weighing in on Wednesdays this month.
SW: 210 (11.14.19)
January SW: 207.4 (1.2.20)
1/8: 205.3 (-2.1 lbs)
1/15:
1/22:
1/29:
1/31:
I've had a good week, showing a couple pound loss since New Year's Day. I've also met all of my other health goals so far:
Other January health goals:
1. Less Alcohol (limit nights where I enjoy wine or a cocktail to 1x/week)
2. Exercise 5 days a week and diversify my exercise a bit (add in swimming and spinning)
3. Log Food every day!
I have not had ANY alcohol, I exercised 5 days last week, and I've logged my food everyday.
This week will be a lot busier and it will be a struggle to keep up with the exercise. Also, traveling for work means I will be out of my routine and probably be tempted by convenience foods. I just need to keep up the good work I'm doing and I know I can do it.
Going back to read other posts now!7
