Morning, afternoon and evening, all... and happy Saturday!
Machka - by trial, SuziQ means the impeachment trial of the president.
Immunizations - I have received the newest, one-time, 2-part shingles vaccine, and when the VA has them available, I also take the pneumonia vaccines. Considering all the garbage that we're still finding in the envrirons of the house, I should probably get my tetanus updated, and will ask to do so the next time I get a VA appointment. I've had pneumonia twice within a couple years of each other some while back, and they top the list as the most miserable I've ever been and still walking. Never had shingles, but have seen people suffer horribly with it. I do not take the flu shot, but I work at home and am seldom around anyone, old young or otherwise. I've not had the flu for more than a decade. I am aware it's a risk, and will have to consider as I age whether I should begin having the flu shot done. The VA gives it to me for free.
The weight is staying steady... which makes me happy. Still staying on the IF, at the moment 16/8. Want to move that to 18/6 or even 20/4, but not ready yet. I will be eventually. The elliptical made it in yesterday, so my husband and I will be putting that together this weekend. Pleased to have it here.
Nice change for us, boring for most:Even more pleased at some news we got earlier in the week. My husband works for some terrific people who own the firm he works for. They're too small to afford a retirement plan, so decided that, for permanent employees, they're going to put together a whole life insurance package. (As a landscaping company, they're very seasonal, so won't be offering it to the seasonal employees).
These incredibly generous people plan to make all the insurance payments, which is VERY cool, and of course, there's life insurance on top of the investment.
It's a huge bonus, and not something we could afford to do ourselves. He plans to work for them until retirement (at 9 years younger than I am, he won't retire for another 12 years), so it should be a tidy sum by the time he quits working.
And... we were going to have to find a new term life insurance policy for him anyway, as at his next birthday, his cost for his current policy will go from $360 a year to more than $4800 a year, as he just turned 50. Now we won't have to! Nice timing.
Last but not least, he had to go for a physical to get the whole life insurance. After having borderline high blood pressure for as long as I've known him, his was 116 over 68 at the physical, and his resting heart rate was 62. He's seriously healthier and happier than I think he's ever been. So pleased.
Have started writing short pieces again, which makes me quite happy, at a website called Medium. It's nice to write because I choose to do so (for those who don't know, my job is writing grants). My subject of choice, my own voice. Feels good to flex it again. It does make money (a whole 16 cents so far, woo-hoo!) so I can't post the link, sorry.
Got some writing to get done...
Love y'all!

I don't think I will ever get caught up but I am trying. Trying to take it easy this morning as I have 2 MRI's this afternoon-brain & elbow. Now to fin some motivation for the day. Have to go to the health center for my weekly weigh in and hopefully some treadmill walking as it's wet outside.
Diaries-I've never owned one & never wanted one.
See you later today.

Burns Night tonight. Don't know where we've put the poem , so DH will have to print it out again. I start up the bagpipe music and he reads the poem 'Address to a Haggis' as we carry the haggis to the table. At the appropriate point in the poem I stab the haggis with a big knife. I've made the mashed neeps and tatties which just have to be reheated and prepared the tenderstem broccoli. I also make a whisky and chive sauce from the Hairy Bikers. I did all my exercises this morning.
We're having blinis and champagne when they arrive at 6 pm. Chocolate truffles and cherries for dessert. I'm going to use the extremely posh crockery my stepdaughters bought us for Christmas for the blinis and the truffles. It really is over the top, but great fun.
'Wee Jimmy' hats for the men.
My cleaner came this morning, so we are all clean and tidy. I'm still waiting for the Amazon delivery to bring me a table centre bud vase for the gorgeous single red rose I bought yesterday. 'My love is like a red, red rose that's newly sprung in June.....' I looked all through my cupboards, but couldn't find a vase the right size to fit between my table lights on the mirrored tray I bought at Christmas. Amazon to the rescue, but I'm still waiting for it to arrive. I have fresh daffodils on the mantelpiece.
I love doing all this stuff as it's a big part of the pleasure of entertaining for me.
Speak soon. Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx10 -
I just weighed in and the scale said 175.8. Not even 179 or 178, I'LL TAKE IT. I went for a walk instead of the Nu-Step for today. Now to get back to reading.

Allie- It's hard to see when your favorite people get older and what happens to them. I remember seeing Brian Wilson and all the beach boys in the 70's. Glad you got to see him.2

It's amazing what a good, solid night's sleep can do for both the body and the mind. With everything that's been going on the last couple of weeks, I haven't been sleeping well at all - sometimes only getting a couple hours. Last night I slept straight through the night, no getting up to use the bathroom (normally I'm up at least once), no waking up worrying about how we're going to handle this or that thing, just sleep. That, combined with a good bike workout first thing this morning has me feeling like I could take on the world today . Now I just need to figure out how to hold onto this feeling that everything will work out, we've done alright so far, we can keep doing OK. We'll probably settle for just tackling the basement for today. We've accumulated so much "stuff" over the last 30 years that the basement needs a good purge. So, since nothing's on the agenda for the weekend, seems like a good time to get started.
Have a wonderful weekend ladies!

Machka: I’ve been taking every vaccination that comes down the line in order to help protect my husband. He takes some of them but drew the line against the improved shingles vaccine, shingrix, that I took. So far, he hasn’t lived to regret it. My DH has MS and diabetes rather than TBI and Epilepsy. Your words are true for us, too:
“We want to keep up to date with vaccinations etc. because:
-- with my husband's severe TBI and epilepsy, and multitude of hospital visits, he could be at increased risk of catching something. And because he's not as mobile as he once was, it's harder to shake some of those things.
-- with my husband's situation, I need to remain as healthy as I can.”
The healthline article advises us to do the things we are doing. It is encouraging to know we’re on the right track. Thanks for sharing. :flowerforyou:
Allie: Don’t forget Peter Rabbit’s mother’s advice—Drink chamomile tea. I prefer peppermint tea, but they are both good.
Lisa: I’m delighted to hear that you’re writing again. It seems to feed your soul.
Heather: Enjoy Burn’s night. I’ll remind DH. His mom was born in Scotland.
DH got up in the wee hours last night and came downstairs. He is currently sleeping in his favorite chair. He endures quite a bit of pain, and there is no surgical fix.

Machka - The trial mentioned that is consuming the news in the U.S. right now is Trump's impeachment trial in the senate.0

Rebecca - just in case you might like to find one of those singing groups, here are a couple near you: https://thresholdchoir.org/Whidbey_Island and https://sites.google.com/site/whidbeycommunitychorus/auditions. Both are asking singers to talk to them about joining them. The first one's religion-oriented and the second is secular.
Just saying.
Not that you have to do anything.
Lisa
Oh wow, thank you for the links. I will investigate both.👍💖

Heather, yes I need to sing. Its a great reset button for my mood. Its also a mental link to my mother and father, as they always came to my recitals, competitions, and choir programs. So when I sing, its like they're listening still.

I just looked up news on the earthquake just west of Vancouver Island, BC. I haven’t seen any damage reports so far. I hope the effects all stayed off shore. Before DH was disabled by MS we took our sailboat up the coast to BC a few times. It is a place that I remember with love and fondness. I consider Victoria Harbor to be one of my favorite places. We've always referred to it as "The Magic Kingdom." Disneyland is okay, in my opinion, but Victoria, BC, is awesome.

Kids were rough but he just stands there they have to go around the wall of JR. His big eye stare they don’t know what to think. Scared a 3yr old girl showed her wave your hand in fro t of his face he snaps out of it giggles. Then she liked him a lot.
Big kids everywhere more than usual so just played on the slide a lot.
Coronavirus seems to be out if control maybe instead of locking citizens up in the beginning who wanted to warn others they should have let them warn take action sooner.Oh well too late now just like every other disease we got out there (west Nile to newest flu’s).

Katla- He sure is. Being raised old fashioned I defenitely noticing lack of manners in other kids. McDonald’s shouldn’t have to ask them not to throw footballs 🏈 into people they don’t knows foods or ask who the parents of the 6months old crawling alone for an hour in the play yard (9 yr old at the end who was asked to stop selling candy 🍭 came over picked the baby up after an hour walked away). Guess that answers who the parent is!
JR will only play with well behaved kids he just ignores the rowdy ones lol.
