02/08 - 147.3 - Was NOT expecting this. I went out to dinner last night with a friend and dinner was late, it was at a restaurant (hello, sodium!) and I had a beer (they're a taphouse, they make their own beers in the back of the restaurant and I was curious). But I will certainly take it! Gonna work on some glutes today (at home banded workouts and probably yoga) as I haven't been glute-focused and that is something my surgeon and physical therapist pushed hard for (my glutes/hips out of whack = back pain at fusion and puts me at risk for faster deterioration above it [where I already have deterioration -- don't want to speed up that process and require another fusion!]). Going to go get my lunch ready here in a bit. Going to cut my fast short as dinner was so late but I'm quite hungry. I still made it over 12 hours so I'm still getting the benefits of fasting and I'm making a conscious decision -- still working on not mindlessly eating but I'm making definite improvements! Also, would like to say that today marks 1 week since my last cigarette! BF is also trying to quit and even though we are in separate states, if he isn't smoking, I'm not. Its been so hard to quit since everyone around me smokes and I always get dragged in by those around me (I smell it, I see it, I crave it). But since we both gave up, last weekend when I saw him neither of us gave in (we are the only 2 in that friend group that used to) and I haven't spent time with my neighbor (who also said she wants to quit but its been super hard for her for the same reasons) I've been able to stay away. Saves money and my body! I still feel the hand-to-mouth motion craving but BF told me if I just push on my lips with my fingers, it helps. So far, it hasn't been perfect, but its worked well enough that I've stuck to it.

Previous Day's Comments02/07 - It always makes me a bit nervous when I start a round down. The way I bounce around (and I seem to be doing that between 148.x and 149.x -- another stuck point similar to 154.x-155.x) I am scared if I start low, I'll end higher and have a gain for the round instead of a loss. Although that's okay, especially if its only small, it still messes with my head and gets me down a bit. I'm finally getting into a good mindset and down want to ruin that. I made crock pot 3-bean chili last night. First time ever making chili! We shall see how it is when it comes time to break my fast. I'm suuuuuper hungry this morning but I just brewed my coffee and hopefully that will get me through until its time to eat. I have to take my car in..again.. more $$ into this stupid thing.. only bought it for $4600 w/ tax and depending on how much today's work cost, I've invested ~$2200 in work over the last 3 weeks. Its kinda stressing me out (read: stress eating temptations) but I know if I get this job, I'll be needing a car good on gas that's reliable. And if I don't move before spring break, I'll have to have a safe car to take BF's kids down to him for spring break for all of us! Just have to survive the temptations of being in town. Especially since I'm planning on stopping at the store (amazing ad this week -- valentine's day meat deal and I need to stock up - haven't gone grocery shopping in about a month) before I head home so I don't have to waste time and gas going into town

Kinda want to try something new. Unfortunately, I report my weight on this forum, but I don't always put it in MFP. I downloaded Libra as several have mentioned it and spent Thursday taking all my data from MFP (very sporadic) and then the last 3 rounds of weigh-ins (since it was easy to locate) to create my trend starting Jan 10, 2019 to present. I'm going to TRY my best to keep going with that and report my trend data. After yesterday and today's weigh-in, I dropped from a trend of 150.9 to 149.7 and also dropped below the "overweight/normal" line on the trend for BMI! Although, by weight, I have been back in the "normal" BMI range for all of round 103, my trend line finally dipped below. This may not be a daily thing, especially as I have to form the habit, but I want to at least try to start and end the round with it.

Hey everyone! I took a long break from these challenges, but I've continued to weigh in daily on Happy Scale and celebrated my small victories to myself lol. However, since I was hospitalized late last year for something that could've taken my life, I've been having trouble losing weight! I think my body has been trying to recuperate after that and plus I got the flu and sinusitis on Christmas and I'm still taking meds from that to this day. I want to have some additional accountability to get these extra 6ish pounds off that I've been struggling with for 4 months now since I was hospitalized!

@CamandJarvis When I quit smoking a few years back I also had the hand to mouth cigarette craving motion. How I got through this was by making my own fake cigarettes. I took restaurant straws (the paper on them feels like cigarette paper). I cut them into about 3 lengths which made 3 "cigarettes". I taped any ends that needed taping. I used masking tape so I could color it red. I kept one in my car in my (clean) ashtray, one near my house phone, one near my office phone, one near where I eat my meals and one in my purse or pocket at all times. I did not even need to actually bring it to my mouth or put it between my lips. I just needed to see it between my fingers from the corner of my eye as I talked on the phone or had my hands on the car steering wheel. That was enough. I did that for awhile until I got COMPLETELY through all the physical cravings. Then I broke the straw habit later. It was much much easier to break. I'm not sure how odd it may have looked to others, but I really didn't care. The main thing is that I quit smoking without popping hard candy in my mouth all the time! Good luck to you! @deepwoodslady Yes! I should try that. I have a CBD "vape" pen (that is out of fluids) I sometimes have on hand. Just putting that to my lips helps. I also have my friend's broken vape pen that I have used a couple times just to put something to my lips and it seems to assist quite a bit. Both have nothing in them so I'm not getting any dangerous vapors, but I can still kill cravings. The fingers pushing on my lips has been my primary as I forget to grab the vape pens and its probably better to not practice putting anything to my lips to break the habit faster.
@jaccimc63 was definitely an inspiration when I saw she was quitting. It really pushed me to want to quit and having my BF doing the same thing was the last straw. I don't have to worry about quitting and then moving to Texas and being sucked back in. Its really inspiring to know others who have gone through this process and came out better on the other side. If y'all can do it, I can! The good news is that I'm past the nicotine/chemical craving, just need to work through the physical side.

02/07 …..192.1 ….. I am starting my new plan today. I will closely monitor my glucose readings to see how it affects me. I watching also to see what happens with my tummy. So far this morning, it feels like taking my brain out and turning it completely backwards. Logging will be extra important so I can figure all this out. This experiment will likely be temporary. In the end, I don’t think it is what is normally best for me overall. Just what I need right now in regards to several medical issues. Good luck everyone this round!
02/08 …..192.0 ….. My gluclose numbers have been running too high (which is what my medication normally treats as high glucose has been my main problem over the years). Probably because of the carb increase. But it doesn’t cause the sickness and panic eating that the lows do. I will continue with my experiment and see what happens. I am just not used to considering the calories as much so it’s a brain swicheroo thing but I’ll get it. I know lower carb is better for my glucose so I am going to experiment on eating fewer calories but higher carb. The best way to explain is maybe less actual Keto and more low or thoughtful carb intake (low glycemic vs high glycemic etc). I don’t yet know what the numbers will be. Under 50 carbs? Under 100 Carbs? I’m going to try to tweak this thing for sure. If I see any persistent dangerous levels, I will make immediate necessary changes. Let’s see how this continues to go.
