    Scale goals
    End of 2017: 174.6
    End of 2018: 189.2
    End of 2019: 196.4
    End of January:
    Today: n/a

    Ongoing plans/ideas behind the cut
    1. Purchases: Look for an "ugly Christmas sweater" and a long-haired doll at thrift stores. Practice French braiding. Go to used bookstore and look for On Writing (Stephen King), Dying for a Paycheck (Robin Hardman), The Prince (tr. Tim Parks, Russell Price, or Robert Adams), The Secret Adversary (Christie).
    2. E2: What should the controlling ideas be in a study of world literature? Review world lit options. Create vocabulary lists for each unit that come from the texts used: Animal Farm, Julius Caesar, Wes Moore, I Am Malala. Find a way to incorporate changing words from one part of speech to another. Students need to know how to review multiple sources and synthesize information in order to draw a conclusion. Need practice with the difference between transitions and overlapping (at end of paragraph - "another issue is Y" vs "there are other issues besides X"). Quit using "in conclusion" and "I believe" and other writing-about-my-writing phrases. Confusion between direct/indirect objects and prepositional phrases. Use the UDHR and the Declaration of Independence to study paraphrasing; use that to front-load Machiavelli and how to deal with challenging texts. Confusion between everyday / every day and similar constructions.
    3. E1: Need practice with quoting & paraphrasing sources, identifying claims that would need support, use of last names for reference, and capitalization practice (common/proper nouns, titles). Difficulty using possessive nouns in their own writing. Honors: practice subject/object pronouns (my friend and I / my friend and me). Poetry: Revise "Songs are Poetry" handouts.
    4. Curriculum Development: Writing mini-unit. Review scholarly research on 5PE. (I think I can have this as an intro to the research unit so that they also get exposure to how quotes are integrated and cited.) Parallel structure; use of emotional language, specific detail. Use "Write About a Pebble" lesson from Atwell. How long should each unit take? Do research on characteristics: curiosity, persistence, resilience, creativity, responsibility, optimism, courage, integrity, authenticity, leadership, self-awareness, humility, compassion - others? Include grammarly check on essays! Review assessments. What is the purpose for each unit? What should the controlling ideas be in a study of world literature? Review world lit options. Schedule assessments for Fall 2019; plan out return times. Write 1 reflection weekly; type one in Classroom by Weds. Copy-paste to discussion board for comments due Friday. PB usernames 6 digits, no 19 or 20s, no birthdates. Homework: Online journal Mon due Tue; Reflection Tue due Wed; C&P journal in class Wed; Comments Thu due Fri. Bonus if you are the first response; further bonus if you respond to comments on your post. Grammar practice Mon & Wed; quiz Fri.
    5. Professional Development: Write blog post weekly. Comment on 3 posts each week -Tu Th Sun? Check with PSC. Talk with Z about articles and/or conference proposals. NOTE: ATTENDED PRE FLEX DAY.
    6. Medical: Dentist Apr 30 8 AM but check on meetings and RS. Onco Apr ???. PCP Schedule for July. ObG schedule for October. PCP - allergy shots?
    7. Theater: 1984.
    8. House: Crawl space repairs. After that - siding? Or perhaps bathroom floor.
    9. Fun: Open beading on Thursdays. Coloring at library on Tuesday. Put jewelry away. Edney Hack Nights alt Weds. ASL? Spanish/Portuguese practice? Practice piano. ROL Secret Adversary. Buy new bikes and bike rack for car.
    10. Volunteering ideas: Theater. Library. Animal shelter. Community Kitchen. Emerge Georgia training.
    11. Family: Find cousin photos.

WFTY: Progress. Trying to resist treats but it's soooo hard. I have my celery here. ;p

    Happy Friday my tribe!

I was actually able to leave work early for once! There were certainly things I "could" have stayed and done, but there is always more to do and I've stayed late plenty of nights recently. I finished the most urgent tasks and vamoosed. I was able to finish my taxes at home and was happy to find I'm getting a nice chunk back. It will be nice to have a little cushion. Happy weekend all!

@HEGoddard0928 That would make me anxious too. Here's hoping you get some helpful news soon.

On Wednesday I am going in for surgery to have my right ovary removed. I have a cyst the size of a baby's head attached to it.

Many prayers for you. Hugs <3<3<3

Loving the color text .... is there a trick?

You use square brackets without any spaces and put you words between them

    [ color=red ] text [ /color ] without any spaces gives
    First brackets | second brackets
Turns on red | turns off red

    text

@HEGoddard0928 So sorry Hannah. Don’t waste time and energy beating yourself up about putting things off. You are a strong woman and will get through this. I will keep you in my thoughts over the time ahead. We are all in your corner.

@HEGoddard0928 - You are very fortunate that you haven't needed to have emergency surgery before this. Don't worry about putting it off, things happen as they are meant to I believe.

I know this sounds very scary and it's probably going to play through your mind that it will make it more difficult to conceive. I have two friends that had this happen and they both got pregnant very quickly after having the ovary removed. I will add you to my prayers. Hopefully unemployment is quick for you.

@teigansdad I wanted to give you a fair warning since you are the only man on this board. I will be going into slight detail about a woman's health issue so feel free to skip over this post if it makes you feel uncomfortable.

Okay, so I have bad news. I went to get my ultrasound down yesterday. About half an hour after I left the radiology office I got a phone call from my doctor. They wanted to see me as soon as possible. So, of course, I'm freaking out. And honestly, I had a right to be freaking out.

On Wednesday I am going in for surgery to have my right ovary removed. I have a cyst the size of a baby's head attached to it. It explains a lot of things. It's also my fault that it wasn't caught before this. I was told to have an ultrasound 5 years ago. And then told again about 2 years ago and I just never went and did it. If I had this would have been caught a long time ago and I may not have needed this kind of surgery.

It is going to be a full open surgery. They'll have to go through my abdomen and remove it that way. The recovery is 6-8 weeks so I'll have to sign up for government short term disability/unemployment to try and get some kind of money while I'm out because there is no way we'll be able to pay my bills.

So I ask you my friends so keep me in your prayers and to send me good thoughts and all that.

Wishing you the best for Wednesday @HEGoddard0928.

    WFTY: DEPTH
    Depth Year - Updates
I definitely have way too much stuff. I need to streamline my existence, resist adding more stuff, and start using what I have already got. I have been working towards doing this for several years with my decluttering. I need to stop the march of consumerism, and putting money into the pockets of other people by buying things I want rather than actually need.
03 Jan: This is going to be way harder than I thought. Need to work out strategies and guidelines for what I can and cannot purchase.
    1. I have a stack of books which I haven't read. I will read one of those book a month, and not buy any more books this year. I will source any other books I want to read at the library.
    2. Book 1: The Illusionists - Rosie Thomas ✅
    3. Book 2: Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine, Gail Honeyman✅
    4. Book 3: Nothern Lights Ch 8
    5. I have closets full of clothes that no longer fit. I will work my way through them over the next two months, and either alter them to fit, or donate them to charity.
    6. 07 Jan: One bag already full and ready to go to the charity shop
    7. I have a lot of Craft supplies. I will optimise what I have before I buy any new supplies. Sticking to this one will be difficult.
    8. 07 Jan: Depth Year: I have Patchwork Craft this morning. I will pick out one of my ongoing projects and work on it to completion. No new projects until I have finished at least 3 ongoing ones.
    9. 14 Jan: Craft Group: working on patchwork project from last Tues.

Agreed. Regret is a wasted emotion in my opinion. Focus on the present and what you can control. Praying for an easy recovery and quick unemployment/disability process for you. 💕

    Hello crew,

Had a lovely day today. Planned for a nice treat meal and was able to eat lighter for the start of the day for some balance. I still went way over calories, but man that pasta was worth it! Went for a nice long walk, which is the first real exercise I've had since being sick. My rib did okay and I didn't cough as much as I feared. Ended up knocking my head really good with my friend's car door so I guess I can't win. Adding to my nightly icing routine. Tomorrow plans to be a low key stay-in day: paperwork, laundry, prepping for the week. OH! And my best friend got engaged today! I am so happy for her. Her fiancee is a wonderful man and a great fit for her :)

@teagansdad Tomorrow is a new day. Learn from your mistake and move on-you got this!
@beachwalker99 Look at all those checks from yesterday! So proud of you!
@HEGoddard0928 Be kind to yourself. It's very human to avoid things we fear. You can't rewind the past and you were able to get in and get things checked now. You're in my thoughts and I'm glad this is treatable. Stay strong my friend, this will soon be behind you. We're here for you *hugs*
