This weekend will be even more challenging at the fishing camp. My sister is bringing cosmos, my son & his wife are bringing drinks, my aunt & uncle are always heavily supplied from bloody marys in the morning to stiffer drinks in the afternoon & evening, and then the perpetual big 5pm cocktail hour looking out over the water.
Feb 14 - AF @ fishing camp. When we arrived late that evening everyone had a drink in hand. I stuck with water and lo and behold I was the only one that spilled my drink!
Feb 15 - 1 bloody mary, 1 cosmos, 2 wine, 2 prosecco @ fishing camp Celebrating my Mom’s 84 birthday with her 2 sisters (1 visiting from Florida) that also have February birthdays. Dinner party for 14.

Big big congrats to you @LoveyChar. That is a real accomplishment, you should be very proud of yourself.3

3/4 days AF since starting again.
Really want something tonight but resisting with some tea and an ice cream bar.4 -
Hi lovely people here...I ran my Marathon on Sunday! My time was 6:07:56. Not a fantastic pace but super proud of the finish! I'm going to enjoy a couple of glasses of wine tonight, the first alcohol I've had in over a month. I'll probably start crying. All of this has been really emotional for me. I didn't drink on race day. My stomach was so torn up after finishing that my goal at that point was just finding the nearest restroom. I hope everyone is doing well. I've been checking in on y'all every day just to see...sounds like everyone is pushing on to goodness... have a wonderful evening everyone...
Oh my goodness, congratulations on finishing the marathon!!!!!! Sorry your stomach was a mess. I can only imagine!2 -
As usual, I am going to try for 16-20 AF days for the month.
Short month, so this might be challenging.
I had 18AF days for January
Saturday February 1 - AF - Superbowl party tomorrow (yes, we Canadians love it too) so not planning to be AF. I am planning to intersperse glasses of water between drinks, and I have 1 cold no-alcohol beer to take with me to the party.
Sunday February 2 - Drinks and too much fattening food, but very fun. Shakira and JLo were great!
Monday February 3 - AF - Felt a bit rough this morning until I had my lemon water.
Tuesday February 4 - AF - It is my designated drinks day, but I also am trying to have 2AF days in a row in between, so abstained.
Wednesday February 5 - 3 drinks
Thursday February 6 - AF
Friday Feb 7 - AF - The weight is finally coming down after Superbowl. We have a big event here in town next weekend, Winter Blitzville, the second annual. They close off the downtown and snowmobiles flip in the air over ramps, there are live bands, bbqs on the main street, fireworks etc. Many people will come back and forth from my house over the course of the day and night (I live right downtown) and I will put a giant pot of mulled wine on the stove for people coming and going to use the washroom and warm up a bit. I am going to try for only 2 drink days before then, because I will for sure want to indulge in some Mulled Wine. Guess that I will need to clean my house a bit lol.
Saturday Feb 08 - AF - It was a planned day for drinks, but I wasn't feeling that well, so wanted to give my body a fighting chance.
Sunday Feb 09 - AF - I was going to have Champagne to watch the Oscars, but didn't. OMG, 4 AF days in a row!! Second time ever
Monday Feb 10 - AF - My first time to 5 AF days in a row. Planned drinks day tomorrow.
Tuesday Feb 11 - 3 drinks - I thought that they might hit me after 5 AF days, but surprisingly they didn't. Hmm. Big dinner I guess.
Wednesday Feb 12 - AF - Even though I didn't feel "buzzed" last night, I still felt a bit rough today. Planning on AF until Mulled Wine on Saturday.
Thursday Feb 13 - AF - Still didn't feel well today, but got through the work day and wasn't up to having drinks.
Friday Feb 14 - AF - I did have very small 1/2 teaspoon tastes of the mulled wine to adjust the sugar, cloves etc. while the vat was simmering - possibly an ounce altogether, but I am not counting that. Tomorrow I will be having some with guests.
Saturday Feb 15 - Mulled Wine, a bunch of small servings.
Sunday Feb 16 - AF - planning on AF tomorrow also.
Monday Feb 17 = AF
Tuesday Feb 18 - 3 drinks.
Wednesday Feb 19 - AF - Planning on AF tomorrow also
Running tally - 14AF days out of 19 days so far5 -
AF Day 15 for me! Have got back into self guided meditation at nights to wind down instead of turning to a wine bottle.6
-
Day 15 AF done! Last month, no way did I think going for such a long stretch was possible, but it is! On top of that, I had preconceived notions of feeling miserable all the time being in an AF state, but that didn't happen. I feel wonderful. Let's keep charging ahead !9
-
I had some major computer/phone MFP issues over the last several days! My husband brought home a bottle of wine on Saturday (I had taken my daughter and her friend to the ballet), so we opened it on Sunday. We nursed that bottle this week, not finishing it in one night. That does take my average down, but I am glad it wasn't a "few" bottles over the course of the week.
So I am now at 12/19 days AF. Still over 50%, which is my overall goal. And now that the wine is not in the house, I don't plan on having anything for awhile again. You truly realize how much better you feel when you don't drink. And while my tolerance has decreased, instead of making me relaxed at the end of the evening, it just made me off balance when I stood up. Not what anyone goes for, so I am just going without it. Back to my tasty SodaStream with lime.7 -
Yesterday I came unglued at a client for lack of payment. I tolerated the nonsense for way to long because they always had excuses excuses excuses. But the last excuse was close to "the dog ate my home work" kind of B.S. I feel 200% better now and no matter the consequence as to if they remain a client.....OH WELL. Good news is this stupidity I was putting up with did not trigger getting drunk before or after my rant with them. Although I do believe it may have had something to do with my snack feast.🤣
Everyone here is doing fantastic, even with little tiny steps backs.11 -
7:13 am in Vegas another 24 💖 congratulations @LoveyChar🤗7

Tonight is one of my planned drinking days for the month. It's my cycling club awards dinner next Friday (another of my planned drinking days ) and the week before a group of us get together to help the organiser get everything ready and polish the trophies. There is usually wine, although I don't think I'll have too much as I have a hard workout in the plan for tomorrow morning.5 -
The other thing - I'm taking one of my bottles of wine that I got for Christmas because 2 months on I haven't opened any of them yet!7

Day 16 AF done! And starting week 5 of no restaurant-no takeout challenge. For the first 2 weeks of not drinking or going out, I saved $404 (food and wine) and a conservative 5760 alcohol calories alone. Money and calorie savings are huge motivators for me. I'd love to put that money towards booking more hiking/trekking trips abroad.12

That’s amazing! Sounds like an awesome way to redirect those savings! Can’t wait to hear what you come up with!5 -

I’m sitting at 50% AF for the first 20 days of the month so feel pretty good.
Weekend plans are a little up in the air - lots going on around town with Mardi Gras celebrations and some events we typically try to fit in at this time of year but hubby is still coming off of sickness so he’s not super motivated to get out and about. I’ve got some cabin fever though as I’ve been battling the sickness as nursemaid and patient for the better part of a month. So we’ll see.
Ready for spring!6 -

We need the awesome button back!6 -
Hubby and I went on our first dinner date in months. I splurged and had a glass of wine and an aperol spritz. I was more than happy to stop at two. First drink in over two weeks.8
-
Good morning! Love all of the successes and mindfullness this week! And wow on the marathon @LoveyChar, I think 6 hours is amazing!! @globalhiker it really is eye opening when you do the math and I completely agree it is a motivator!
After taking the four days to go through a bottle of wine (with the hubs), I was surprised how I didn’t even think about drinking yesterday. It shows the habit maybe isn’t so much anymore!
13/20 AF days for February!7 -
Thank you everyone!!! I read all of your comments... I love them...I had my wine night two nights ago. I'm not sure when I'll drink again. Good thing that I am craving it less and less.7
-
TGIF! Getting takeout tonight and planning to drink tea after my meal.
5/6 days AF since starting again.
Hope you all have a great weekend!7 -

Friday Feb 21 - AF - Sitting at 750 calories for the day, so I need to find a way to consume some more. This never happens when I have alcohol of course (think a vat of pistachio nuts to accompany the booze). Stuffed up, so not too interested in food. Happy to have hit the lower portion of my monthly goal with so many days left!! I am likely going to have some mulled wine tomorrow.

21 - 3 glasses of wine. I can definitely tell the difference in how I feel this morning! Not sure about today - OH's parents are coming over. If they leave at a sensible time I won't drink but if they stay late and we go out for dinner I'll probably have one.5 -
Day 17 AF done! Thank you @MissMay and @WinoGelato, totally helps me to have folks like you and the rest of the team listening. So yesterday I ran into a minor challenge. Surely it will be one of dozens. It was Friday, happy hour time and there I was in Target doing food shopping hungry. Wrong place, wrong time, etc. I made a special trip to pick up some items they happened to be out of, and I became quite irritable because they placed displays of Rose wine EVERYWHERE! By the cashiers, by the eggs (who does this?), by the yogurt, by the frozen fish, by the meat, in the center of the corridor, and in it's proper aisle. I didn't buy it but I sure felt grouchy about it all. So I drove to another market to finish off my shopping only to find their steak looked terrible and they were out of the free rewards item I went in there for. I got even more grumpy. The night ended with me having a chocolate bar, three bowls of popcorn, half of a frozen pizza for dinner, and feeling yukky. I did not buy the wine though...lessons learned: stay out of markets when hungry on a Friday night!6
-
Friday night was my planned - wild -crazed - out of control - drink night out....🤣 consumed one craft beer over a 2.5 hour period and home by 8:30pm.
Enjoy the weekend less alcohol warriors!8 -

Good for you! There are certain clients (high maintenance, always late with payments, etc) that are honestly worth losing. They take up way too much mental energy and drag your business down. So if they walk, buh-bye!!! Or just choose not to have them as clients anymore!
Very proud that you didn’t need to turn to alcohol to deal with your frustration!4
