I have one you can borrow. Do you want a main or a jib?
Nah give him a spinnaker and really watch him fly!2 -

@kgirlhart Sounds like you had a great early morning run yesterday! I love looking at the stars. However, I prefer running in the evenings, so I am looking forward to the time change.
@7lenny7 I can't imagine doing an ultra on a treadmill, let alone in my living room. I guess this proves the old saying, "Where there's a will, there's a way." I loved your pictures from the snow run. My dog's favorite weather is snow. She would have really enjoyed that.
@shanaber I hope the clouds weren't a harbinger of an earthquake. It's interesting that you noticed that association.
@katharmonic Weekend weather here isn't looking good either. I have lots of time to complete my HM training plan, so I am just not even going to try to get in the 8 miles that are scheduled. I'll try them again next week.
@Tramboman Happy Birthday! I haven't finished reading the posts, but I am going to go with those who saw your mileage and guess 68.
@Camaramandy648 I am wanting to buy some running skorts, with large pockets. Would your daughter wear those?
@LoveyChar You're daughter is adorable. I hope she isn't too disheartened about being last. I totally agree with @polskagirl01 on other reasons to run and other goals to have.
@Avidkeo Congratulations on a most excellent Park Run. It's funny how some days you really aren't feeling it at the start turn out to be one of your best.
I'm finally caught up. Boy, there's a lot when you miss a couple of days.5 -
Happy birthday @Tramboman! I hope you've had a fabulous day.

I abandoned plan A to run this morning in favor of getting to work early. Plan B to leave work early and go to the gym didn't happen. And so it became plan C of leave work late, get home and run in the dark as the snow started to pick up. It was actually not so bad once I got moving but the footing was getting a little questionable with the falling snow, so I made it a quick one.

I did a treadmill run today and barely made my February goal. I'm happy since it's a shorter month AND I was on vacation with no running for several days. Tomorrow is a rest day, so this is it for the month.
2 -
Missed my February goal for a number of reasons - Achilles still troubling me, too many rest days at the beginning of the month, short month, whatever.
I started with a running coach two weeks ago so my mileage is now being determined by him, and he works mostly in minutes not kilometres (ie, run for 45 minutes, not run for 8km). One assumes as I improve, my distance will increase without my time going up. Interestingly, I'm running fewer days but working harder when I do run. I can feel my fitness improving already. Watch this space.

I also would like to buy some running shorts, but I don't know what I like. I have some cute nike ones that are SO comfortable, but I don't know if they're too short and they fit as tight as leggings do, but they're shorts. I feel like I should get some that are more loose-fitting. I also want pockets. Lots and lots of pockets.
Oiselle long pocket joggers.
I second this or if you want loose shorts instead of compression, I like the Oiselle Long Roga Shorts (only 2 pockets but the back one is big enough for my iPhone) or the Toolbelt Roga Shorts with an all around mesh pocket waist band.
Oh yah, I like the long roga too. I use them for hiking more just because I prefer compression for running. I can fit my phone in the side pocket too.0 -

A parachute. Get a parachute. And take a running jump off maybe a picnic table. And then send us video.
@LoveyChar she’s perfect! It’s not just the winning. I’ve never won. I’m not faster or better and i am quite small. I think if it’s all about the medals, it wouldn’t mean as much to me. I DO have them hung in my office, but they’re all finisher medals. It’s a symbol for me to remember that i can do hard things. I am stronger than i think i am. I’m the only person I’m competing with. She will feed on that from you. It will fuel her in every area of her life.
Also to your trail or road question - i have never done a marathon on either but I have done some long runs on some pretty technical trails here and i LOVE IT. The ONLY reason i got road shoes is because my marathon is on the road and I knew I had to find a reason to be more disciplined in my training and stay off the trails. I was having too much fun and not focusing on actual training. After my marathon, until i figure out what i am doing next, I’ll be back on the trails
@RunsOnEspresso I SAW THE OSEILLES TODAY! They also have a pair of shorts with a tool belt option so i would essentially NEVER have to carry a pack because there are SO MANY POCKETS! And they’re loose so people won’t think I’m trying to advertise my butt! And they have YELLOW ones! On SALE!
@Tramboman i think someone already guessed your age and i have been agonizing about it all day! 68?
@autumnblade75 we should all be committed and that’s probably why we’re running instead

Wow y'all talk a lot, I have stuggled (and failed) to keep up recently. I pretty much give up on February, hugs, congratulations, applause to whoever needs/wants/deserves them, happy late birthday @Tramboman
I'm off for the last run of the month (yay for an extra day to run!). No idea what my goal was, I've completely forgotten. Will end up with about 110km on the record, not bad considering I was out for an entire week. 3 weeks tomorrow until my next HM, that 'oh my God I'm nowhere near prepared' feeling is starting to kick in.
See you all in March!

In the trail series I do, they have several other cities where they do races, and in one of the other cities last year, there was a special award for the girl who came in last in the youngest age group for the kid races. It was given by the parents of a little girl who had been in that spot previously, but had finally succumbed to the terminal illness she had been battling. They made a video about her and the award, and she was so happy and smiley in all of the pictures of her running, even though she was in pain a lot, and was always in last place. If they had been in my city, the award would've gone to my daughter, as she was last place in the same AG here. So in that case it wasn't a participation trophy at all, but that someone saw something of special value in racing with a good attitude even if you are always in last place.11 -

2/28 & 2/29: Decided I had to run – it was 73 degrees and gorgeous! I spent 30 minutes before rolling and really targeting my back, glutes and quads. It seemed to help as my hip flexor was not talking to me and I felt ok after. I rolled my back out post run too to keep it from getting tight. We shall see…..baby steps. Today is another gorgeous day but will do yoga/ gym. Hope to run tomorrow to kick of March. Happy Leap Year to all!✌

I hadn’t even considered using a foam roller pre-run!!!!!
I am up for a long run today but naturally, i don’t want to leave the bed.2 -
Now you have me crying @polskagirl01 . That's such a sweet story. Makes me think every kids race needs an award for last place.
2 -
@polskagirl01
Dang onions.....cutting them always makes me weep.....That is such a special award! Thanks for sharing!
@Camaramandy648
I am trying anything and everything lol! Warm beds on Saturday morning are hard to leave. Have a great end of February long run!!4 -
That's beautiful @polskagirl01. What a nice idea for an award and to honor their daughter.
@RunsOnEspresso and @Camaramandy648 I have a couple of pairs of the long roga shorts (loose fit) and I really like them. I generally wear tight shorts but those are a very nice alternative that don't ride up. And you would not be advertising your butt with tight shorts - unless you put a for sale sign on it Wear what feels good to you.

Hey, I made my goal! I had really resigned myself to not doing a longer run today but I set my alarm for a "just in case I want to" time. And then I hit the snooze a couple of times so it was not looking likely. I got up and had breakfast and checked facebook and saw several of my friends were planning on making it, despite the cold, so I threw my stuff on and headed out the door. It was 18 degrees and lightly snowing, but not as bad as I feared. We had to stick to the roads and there were icy spots, but I wore my trail shoes and did ok going slowly.
I ran about 4.5 miles and then headed to the gym for my mace workout. After that was done I decided to finish up the "long run" by adding on another 3ish miles on the fancy treadmill. I watched the trainer hike through Zion national park but I had enough of hills so I over-rode the incline and speed changes and just did an easy-paced run.
I had to do some math in my head to see if this would come out to 100 miles and I couldn't preciesely remember where I was, so I'm happy I didn't short myself a 1/10 th or something.
Well done for February everyone. A short month but lots of great accomplishments.
See you all in the March thread!10
