Hey Ho! KJ reporting from warm(er) but rainy DFW area Texas! Spent yesterday traveling, three hour drive to Chicago, three hours in airport people watching. A LOT of people very obviously confused as to how or whether to protect themselves from any potential germ. Saw a lot of people with masks on, mouths covered, noses uncovered, pulled around their neck because it was hard to talk in them or be heard; gloves on, gloves off, one glove on and one glove off (so that they could use their phones), eating with gloved hands after handling money and touching other things with gloved hands. It was probably the most interesting time I have spent in an airport. lol ANYHOW...I am here! My youngest son, Colin, is with me. Was greeted warmly by Chappie the Wonder Dog (because he knows he's grandma's boy! Chappie thoughts: "Grandma's here!
More walks, backyard play, and an egg for breakfast every morning!" Baby Miguel also warmed to me quickly, but he is such a happy little chunk. I think he just loves being held and looked at and talked to, and watching Joaquin cause a scene.
Joaquin has warmed up to me a little quicker thanks to a quick stop at the local sweet shop and some Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on my phone while we were in the car. (Yes, I have stooped to bribery). We did a little downtown sightseeing, visited my daughter's office and said hi to her boss (whom we have met before) and met her two new coworkers. Had a really great salad at a little pub called Flying Saucers. Took Joaquin to the sweet shop as a birthday treat, then a stop at a HUGE Star Wars store so that Uncle Colin could indoctrinate him into the SW Universe. Uncle Colin took great glee in the fact that Joaquin picked out a red light saber as his present. We offered him blue, green, and purple; but he wanted the red. He leans toward the dark side, I guess. His 3 year old attitude/tantrums are proof of that. lol Joaquin's birthday is tomorrow, we need to do a shop in the morning to buy a few things, but mainly ingredients for birthday browinies and ice cream! I will be posting pics as soon as I get on facebook (then will pop them up here).
News from Michigan when my plane landed last night. All schools K-12 in the ENTIRE state of Michigan have closed for three weeks! Between last night and this morning, I have received about a dozen messages inquiring about childcare! Because I have a home childcare (that is not affiliated with the schools) it is my choice as to whether I stay open or close. I will remain open, as it is only the families that I have been caring for; so the germs are "known to me". Does that sound odd? lol I have my cleaning and preventative measures already in action; so I am really not worried.
Heather- So glad the Saga cruise lines made a decision and I think your choice (to take the refund now) is the one I would take.
Lisa- Enjoy the time with your family!
Kiwi- Love the description of your NSV (workout/body response)! Laughing until coffee hit my laptop screen! lol
There are more of you I wanted to reply to, but I just had to catch up on over 160 posts (since yesterday morning at 7am)! I will catch up and chat more tomorrow morning, as I will be up waaaaay before the grandsons. Love to you all! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)6 -

Officially made one of the Itty Bitty titty Committee gym instructors snort with laughter at my boob and armpit comment.
She did me a favour of talking to me while I did 15 mins of stationery bike. I must get an audio book loaded for those occasions an instructor is not there to entertain me.
Just fogged the window of the car coming back - we've not had much summer and already mornings are cool.
I've got a game of bowls this afternoon. Lawn bowls despite its reputation as an old persons sport is great for anxiety - if you can't be present in the moment on the mat, you will play extremely badly...so terrific for mindfulness. The other thing, women and men can play competition level together, no advantage of being stronger.

Well, the place where we take ceramics just called. They’ve cancelled ceramics until the end of March. In a way, I resent this. Basically, I feel like I’m being told “you can’t make a good decision for yourself so we’ll make it for you”. I guess the reason I feel this way is because between Mon and Wed nights, the most that have been there have been probably 8 people, and that was right before the holiday when everyone was rushing to get their things done. Usually, there are only about 5 of us. But this is the city…..

I admit, I've been skimming over most of the posts about this virus. The answer to my question was probably somewhere in them
How long can the virus live on a non-human (like a doorknob or shipping container?)

Think that’s Unknown. Keep hearing different things on that Michele NC. A doctor said use bleach water wash surface let it air dry Australia Doc.

Estimate of surface survival is 4 hours...based on other similar viruses.1

Hand washing is a given, and I use tissues to operate door handles etc when outside the home. I will increase measures as/when/if things change.
Your vigilance is crucial in view of your situation re your DH. Neither of us have major underlying health problems to contend with, but are being cautious nevertheless.
The thing is, the basic advice of hand washing, increased hygiene and social distance are all good measures to take with any flu/cold. I'm so glad there's been an increased emphasis on these things and hope that people adopt these measures throughout their lives going forward. We could all be a lot healthier!
I posted this on my Facebook page last night ...

This book, written by Agatha Christie under the pseudonym Mary Westmacott has stuck with me since I read it. Probably the most memorable book I've read of hers.
I'm reminded of it again as things close down and pause around us.
If you can find it ... spend some of your upcoming rest time reading.
