Sorry for all the cancelled races and ways life is being made difficult and stressful right now. The unknown of how long it's all going to go on is so hard.
Spartan races announced today they are cancelling all US events for the next 30 days. Frankly, this is a relief to me as I really have no business going to a race in 3 weeks. It sounds like they will be rescheduling most of the events so we'll see how that all works out, but they are also offering free deferrals and transfers to other races.
The Boston Marathon was rescheduled to September, which is pretty amazing. I know a few people who were running it, and I'm hoping that this works out for them, but it would be a hard thing to have trained so hard and now you've got to go through another training cycle.

Well, this is shaping up to be quite the mileage week! Another minimal run today, and another bit of bad dog parenting. I took her out for a walk, but I was dressed to run after. Well, another dog passed us running with its owner. She got all focused on that dog and was pulling hard, so I just said to heck with it, we'll run. It worked for a a little while and then she seemed to remember that she doesn't like running and started putting the brakes on and needing to stop and smell every little thing. But it got done, and then I was able to make it to rock climbing on time. Rock climbing really helped me de-stress a bit, I was glad I went. This week was tough and it doesn't promise to get better any time soon, so a little distraction and physical challenge helps.
Hope everyone has a good weekend. Take care of yourselves.

Please don't tell your cc company that canceled races are fraud. I've been seeing people in groups recommend that and it's wrong on so many levels. Support your races especially the smaller, local ones. This type of thing could put them out of business permanently.
I am not panicking but I'm definitely worried. Work is telling me I'm essential and should have x, y and z so I can work from home but it's not happening. I've already told them with my asthma and celiac disease (susceptible to pneumonia) that I will not come in if people start coming in sick.11 -

Have been using Hal Higon's running plans for a while, usually I just look them up & type them into my Google calander. However, after @Avidkeo said something about downloading the app, I thought "Hmmmmm...that might be easier?" Interesting thing, the app & the computer plans are different. (I'm cheap, I have the free app) Was "supposed" to run yesterday, but my day got busy, so I did it today instead. Another run planned for tomorrow, but we'll see. My right ankle has been sore for a while, but after today's run, it is even more so. I've had my TENS unit on, see how it is in the am.
It really beggers the mind how the whole country is shutting down for This-That-Shall-not-be-Named. Just saw a story on the news on "How to Properly Clean your Cell Phone". During a video for another story there was a girl wearing a face mask using hand sanitizer....WHILE WEARING GLOVES.
This is actually a legitimate practice in hospitals. We do it to sanitise our gloves while working in a patients room, usually to clean equipment, before removing the gloves.
@dreamer12151 I did not know that! I'm only using the free app, too cheap to pay for it. I like how it will adapt as I go - apparently2 -

So as expected my race to is canceled. Initially they thought they could keep it, considering it’s smallish ~250-300 people, with staggered starts, but alas the town it’s in said no. And no makeup days either. So they will defer registration to any of their other races, our choice of which one. Oh well. I’m sad but not terribly so as that course was a killer lol.
Was scheduled long training run today, still going to go, but actually just run and not worry about where and pacing and just how I feel.
Also, have a hair appointment which I always look forward to, and dinner out with friends (is that still ok?..ugh)..
Hopefully everyone is keeping safe and I guess Netflix will become even more popular, lol.7 -

Spanish government is putting us in lockdown. We'll only be allowed out to buy food, go to the doctor or work if absolutely necessary. I had intended to run alone in the early hours, but guess I should get on the dreadmill instead. Time to see if I have the dedication to run-walk a HM distance on a treadmill on Friday. Could take forever, but on the bright side it makes water and pee breaks easier.....12

Wow....I haven't checked in in a while because I am still in denial at being "hobbled" from running or walking for 8-10 weeks. I had 500 notifications. Mostly from a Corona Virus thread that has been interesting.
I am so so sorry for all of the cancelled races, etc. Hope you all can still train and enjoy the sport without the races for a while.
That is why I loved running....I am an outdoor person vs. a gym person, but would go to get some weight training in. Now I have to hop on a bike or rower. The funny thing….biking and rowing is not weight bearing like running or walking. I obviously need weight bearing exercise to keep my bone density. Kinda a catch 22 if you ask me!
Haven't figured out the swimming thing yet. Don't know if they will at some point shut down our gym since it’s at a small club with some older folks that should not be exposed to Covid 19. We shall see.
@LoveyChar I was at HEB yesterday. OMG....people were going crazy and the lines looked like Thanksgiving Wednesday. Needed to buy some basics since my daughter is coming home since her spring break trip was canceled and they have 2 weeks of break until they cancel school all together (and graduation etc which I am expecting will happen.) Total bummer.

@eleanorhawkins Yikes. Did they say for how long? Good that you have access to the dreadmill. I think I would go crazy if I couldn't do some form of exercise. I need to keep flattening my belly while flattening the curve! Hang in there!2

15 days initially but I imagine it will be longer.2 -
Our HM on 4/4 was postponed until October. Good for me since I’m not totally healed from my foot surgery, sad for Skip who instead of being 90 minutes away will be 7+ hours away at school (those who don’t know Skip is my 19 year old daughter). But good for Skip gives her more time to gear up after her marathon earlier this month.
Everything is closing here too.
It’s been a while since I’ve posted, but really wanted to get back on MFP. I’ve missed you all.

So I decide to run today anyway. Now the extra long warm up walk and extra long cool down walk could be a new strategy for more frequent running or could be that I couldn't be @rsed doing more than the HM distance? Answers on a postcard.
It was a lovely day for running, set a new PB for HM which isn't very impressive given my previous times, still it is progress in my recovery and I'll take that.
You've got this @Camaramandy648 and idiots or douche bags will not de-rail your progress 😊5 -
@skippygirlsmom - we've missed you too! Glad to have you back and looking forward to hearing about you and the SkippyGirl's adventures!
@eleanorhawkins - I'm still wondering if you couldn't get out for a run in early morning when no one else is about. Kind of like what @noblsheep did. Would they arrest you?
Sent my husband to the grocery store this morning. Hope they have potatoes. I read on a post somewhere that potatoes are now the latest item on short supply and I need some for a dinner tomorrow with family.

Had a strange run today. It's been Spring-like here, but this morning it snowed and felt like I was running in a snow globe. Going one direction, I couldn't see and was getting covered in snow. Coming back, it was almost hypnotizing watching the snow going along in the same direction as me. It was really quiet out, not too many people (although I was completely on back roads anyway) and I did see a child in a snowsuit jumping on a trampoline But then in the woods, I thought I had become a jogger... all of a sudden I had a weird feeling, and shortly after that, came up on something that I realized was a person, knelt down and bent over forwards laying there a little ways off the path. But then he moved, and I realized he was digging a hole in the ground. I decided it would be best to keep moving. He didn't look up or acknowledge me and it's possible he didn't even see me go past. I probably don't want to know...
It's Pi day so I made quiche and have an apple pie baking The kids have been fighting. But the run REALLY helped with my mood.
@eleanorhawkins I don't have a treadmill and will fully understand if you don't want to do a HM on one on Friday. I will still plan to do mine if I can get out of the house.
March goal 100 miles (stretch goal 200 km)

@shanaber we're waiting for the government to finish their meeting and the president to give the official statement, but I believe they can hand us a hefty fine or arrest us if we can't prove we're on our way to the store for essential items, work if it's not possible to work from home, the doctor or pharmacy or the bank.
I could probably go out in the middle of the night and avoid being seen, but at the end of the day it would be selfish and immoral of me to sit here swearing about the people acting like they're on holiday then.
We all have a social responsibility to get this thing under control, and if that means I have to run on a treadmill for a while and can't race then so be it.
@polskagirl01 I need to see if the dreadmill actually works tomorrow, haven't used it for AGES. If it does, depending on how a few shorter runs go, I would like to try. I'm reminding myself how awesome it will be to just pause it and visit my own bathroom and kitchen for pees and water...
AND it's supposed to rain, so another bonus!

It sounds like you were a jogger @polskagirl01 you just didn't see the one being buried!!!3 -

If it were a video in a medical setting, I would understand. However, it looked like she was in a public setting, airport or such.1 -

Nope, didn't see it! I'm only a jogger if I find the body!4 -
I feel for everyone that had races cancelled. After all the time training that is a big letdown. But you will all crush it fir the next race!
Went out and did 10 miles in the cold rain this afternoon. Northerly 16mph wind made it rough, but felt good running south.
Haven't done a double digit run in a few months, so this was a nice milestone.
Oh, and my HR stayed below 130 for the first time since I've come back from injury; another milestone 😏

I just re-read my last post (from March 8) and man does it seem like more than a week has passed since then! So here’s how my week went:
Monday: Intake for my new therapy program. I walked home in anticipation of wanting to make this a new running route - 2.2 miles, about half lakeshore, not bad after a really gnarly intersection early on. Intake was pretty intense - I feel good about the program but am feeling pretty fragile in general right now. I joke on Facebook that I laughed when the therapist asked me if I was anxious about coronavirus because I’m too busy being anxious about everything else.
Tuesday: Ran 1.54 miles to the gym. Awesome workout, but everyone at the gym is talking about the virus and I feel like a weirdo for not being more worried. Finally remembered to transfer my March 21st race registration from the 10 Mile to the 5K, which turned out to basically be me setting money on fire donating money to support a great race organization.
Wednesday: Woke up in time for work but never actually made it out of bed. Husband’s work trip to NOLA next week is canceled and I start getting emails from every business I’ve ever given my email to with their virus prep plans.
Thursday: Worked a half day and made it downtown to donate blood and get my hair colored. Once again, the virus is the only thing people are talking about, although downtown seems otherwise fairly normal. Spouse says he’s going to start working from home on Friday. We managed to snag one of the last packs of TP in the metro area on the way home, because we actually were running low.
Friday: Feeling crummy all day, but still managed to work and run 1.54 miles to the gym. The run is kind of rough - my right leg was feeling really stiff and painful for no apparent reason. Good workout but my post-exercise buzz faded pretty fast. Having the spouse at home all day is not my favorite thing in the world, but it’s encouraging me to get out of the bedroom, at least, since that’s where he likes to work. Found out that my race on the 21st is canceled. My running friend is ambivalent about running this weekend - say’s she’s really freaked out about virus stuff right now.
Saturday: Woke up feeling okay, but having a hard time focusing today. I emailed my boss asking to reduce my hours for the next month or so to get used to the new therapy program. I also set new, slightly more modest fitness goals for the rest of the month. I’d like to run either today or tomorrow, though I expect it will be on my own.
So that’s been my week. Not great, but could have been worse. Hugs to everyone dealing with canceled races or injuries or mental health stuff. Here is a picture of my adorable cats.
