Nope, I'm still mad at all the people hoarding things and panicking more than I'm mad at the people who choose to go out in public.
I know that Everytime I go out in public that I am putting myself at risk. And that is the stance that everyone should take. Take precautions for yourself, be accountable for yourself. You are the only person who can take care of you (besides doctors). You don't know who has passed though. We are all going to get this one way or another, there is no way around this.
And before people go all "but youre young and healthy and haer nothing to worry about". You might be right about my own health, but wrong about my dad. He is going though intensive chemotherapy and his immune system is shot. But he's going to go out and see people if he wants. If he only has a limited time here on this Earth, he's making sure he gets the best of it and sees the things he can and visits the people he loves before he can't. But, what would help in this situation is if he could actually get the supplies he needs to do this! But he can't because people panicked and hoarded everything.

That doesn't mean that he has the right, to risk shortening anyone else's life.

Fun fact! As we live in America, it means he does!
No one but yourself is in charge of your life. And more people need to understand that

Then there wouldn't be mandatory quarantines.

We haven't had one yet. It's been suggestions. And your work can enforce it

Some people here're under mandatory quarantine &'ll face criminal charges, if they don't comply with it.

This whole thing is making us see the negative side of humanity. Fear and panic are causing typically “good” humans to act selfish and greedy by hoarding everything. We need to check ourselves and attempt to be rational.

As a retail worker I'm worried about a lot of people returning their mountains of toilet paper, food items they overbought (we'd have to defect that out), & other things people panic bought.

Found this thread tonight...and I’ve read all of the posts. Some of them made me sad, some of them had me lol-ing.

The hubs and I are homebodies by nature, so we are good to go in that respect. I’m in NC, and as of 5pm today, restaurants are take-out/drive through or delivery only. Schools were declared closed state wide over this past weekend.

I work at the local hospital and visitor restrictions have increased twice in the last week. Today I saw someone decked out in full PPE at the ED entrance and was told they are screening people coming in. All self serve options are gone from the cafeteria, and many of the tables have disappeared to encourage social distancing and closed to the public for dining last night. There is one case in my county and one on base, but evidently they aren’t counted as “in the county.”

The one thing that has affected me, personally, is that my husband tested positive today for flu and I can’t get Lysol spray or disinfecting wipes because, like toilet paper, it’s gone.

As someone else mentioned, living in a hurricane prone state has a lot of us stocked up, anyway.

    So...

my chest is heavy and I can’t draw a full breath without coughing.

    Other symptoms:

-Slightly elevated temp, not technically a fever though
    -mild sore throat
    -sinus pain (but no congestion)
-sudden irresistible urge to travel the world

    😳

Took a little time off from work. I went to a live standup comedy show for the first time, followed by a club with a live band where I danced my *kitten* off. I've been going to bars, the gym, restaurants, casinos. I'm living and enjoying life. Haven't purchased a single roll of toilet paper or bottle of sanitizer. I am appalled at how ridiculous humanity can be, though.

I know right?? How dare people prepare for an emergency?!?! :gasp:

It's more about how people are "preparing" you don't need 500 rolls of TP, all the hand sanitizer (which does nothing btw) and all the disinfect wipes. Most people are healthy and will be able to get though this relatively easily. But you have the people who are actually at risk who can't get out and get the things they need because of people panicking and clearing the shelves. My dad is going though intensive chemotherapy. On a good day with out this virus we need disinfect wipes, now we cant get any because an over anxious Karen decided that she needs them all.

    Wait. Hand sanitizer does nothing?

Washing hands with soap and water for 30 seconds (or singing two rounds of happy birthday) is what is recommend, hand sanitizer isn’t a real protector so we have been advised.
The infection protection official at my hospital said hand sanitizer is effective as long as it is 70 percent alcohol. If you look at a lot of the hand sanitizers at the grocery stores, they will have 60 percent.

Oh Really? That’s reassuring. What also worries me a little bit, is that there is so many different recommendations, it’s frustrating. I think WHO says soap and water, our head dr and pandemic advisor told out team that it is the best protection but I still use sanitiser also constantly between things like removing gloves ect I do know I’ve washed my hands so many times today I swear ive taken the top layer of my skin off lol

I’m sorry to hear yr dad and yr family are going through this. I would think that while having chemo, protection of the person receiving this is of the upmost importance to give the treatment a chance to be effective, so that eventually he CAN go out and visit people he loves and do the things he wants without putting his health at further risk and others at risk. I’m not sure of his condition, the severity or circumstance but I hope your dad puts his health at the forefront of his mind and is coping with the aweful side effects of chemo before putting himself at danger by having to suffer from another illness during treatment, even a mild cold, which could be potentially critical.
