Hey everyone! Fell off the wagon last couple of days. Haven’t been tracking or goin to curves. Our kids told us to stay home so we are self isolating also. I am jumping back on the wagon today and will stay with it. Will go for walk this morning and get some yard work done. We will get through this. Stay healthy everyone and have a good day!🤓5

Dropped .8 lb again, but really can't take a lot of credit although I am very happy about it. Have had sniffles, sore throat and headache last couple of days and haven't really had much of an appetite. Pretty sure it's just my allergies kicking up, so treating it as such. But not going out anywhere, just in case. Soup seems to be a common theme here. I made a big pot of vegetable soup yesterday with lots of antioxidant veggies and healthy seasonings. It will last a few days but l am out of most fresh vegetables now which will mean a trip to the store in the future, or I'm considering trying out one of the delivery services offered in this area. We've had our first confirmed case in my county, so lots of closings and preventive measures in place now. Sadly, the library is also closed but I probably would not have taken a chance by going there anyway. So far the parks and trails are still open so I am able to take my dog out for a walk when it's not raining. teresadannar, your family dinner sounds lovely. The menu sounds yummy!3

I have a theory that there is no wagon, so we can't fall off it. The problem arises mostly if we flat-out give up, i.e., there is a towel, and we could throw it in. Don't wanna.
Over the past 5 years (1 year loss, 4 years maintenance as of next months), I've had high calorie days (some ultra-high!) and low days, indulgent days and strict-plus days, energetic/active days and lazy days (or weeks ), and so forth. That's just life, eh? My weight's been up and down a bit, but I'm still at a healthy weight (BMI 22-point-something, mid-130s pounds at 5'5", after literally decades of obesity, and still moderately fit, especially compared to some of my friends in our age group (sadly - I wish everyone were able to be active, and was)).
I vote for "work toward doing relatively more healthy things for the majority of time, and let the rest go". What counts is getting more days, more on target, more frequently, over time - things move in an overall positive direction, cumulatively. The only way to fail is to give up on chipping away in that positive direction. There's no point in feeling bad about what's past.
I don't expect I'll see it in this group, given maturity , but super common on MFP seems to be folks who cycle emotionally from "everything perfect, pedal to the medal" to "fell off wagon, I'm awful because ate cake (or skipped the gym)" . . . then quit because "I'm a just a failure". Better to keep things manageable but progressive, stay calm/confident, and just not quit - seems to be a common pattern with those who soldier on and succeed long term.
OK, end of sermon. Can you tell I feel strongly? :flowerforyou: Weight loss has made such a tremendous difference for me, that I want to see everyone succeed. Forgive me for preaching (I hope).
I'm still all socially isolating (living alone, seen no one close up since last week unless you count the runners ten feet away to whom I said "Good morning" on my walk today), with supplies holding up (no, I didn't hoard ).
Since my classes at the Y are now cancelled, and I'm not sure when on-water rowing season will start, I'm trying to be more structured about home workouts. Yesterday, I hopped on my rowing machine for 3 x 10 minutes (water drinking break for 2 minutes between), and today went for a couple-mile walk (since it's supposed to be less pleasant weather upcoming). Contemplating resuming some at-home strength training (I don't love strength training, and am a hedonist, so that slips in and out of my routine), and maybe some yoga or core workouts.
With changes in my fixed schedule (I'm retired, but normally go to classes & social group stuff), I need to put myself on a bit more structured self-imposed schedule . . . a thing that is not my personal strength. Forward!
Best wishes to all for continued health, happiness, progress!6 -

Well said, @AnnPT77! I always appreciate your insights. I. too, have learned to look at the long term trend and pay less attention to daily failures or successes. Always telling myself "Strive to do better tomorrow."
Remember that in a month or two things will be back to normal.

I agree with both Ann & Steve. As long as we don't totally give up forever, we are still moving in the right direction, maybe just a little slower.4

Down 2 lbs this week, I am happy! My biggest worry no is the gym I use, it is not closed yet, but I am expecting it any day now. Had a moderate (5.7) earthquake this morning, an interesting way to start the day! Its raining here, but snowing in the mountains.

Good day everyone. Another beautiful, sunny, warm day today. Officially changed to the spring exercise jacket today- it was 15 degrees (Celsius). Out for a walk in the city today, but picked a few streets with hills. We are trying to shop local so we stopped into a bakery- only a few loaves left and a neighbourhood market- also very low on chicken (why is chicken in such high demand? As usual @AnnPT77 I appreciated your remarks and learned a little something. @lindagalbreath577 a few off days is not the end of the world, get right back on the health horse. @fishwishing and @j29t (and everyone, really) take good care and remember not to use Ibuprofen for symptoms until this mess is finished. @alligatorrob I really like your pictures, but not your earthquake.
Everyone stay well and remember to take care of your mental health too in this stressful time- sing, dance, laugh, connect, vent- whatever floats your boat

First, BarbieCat, that photo is almost pornographic. Do you medicate your iris? I think mine need something.
My scale is near top of stairs and it might get shoved down - up 1.7 today. Might need to tighten up measurement and weighing for food. Not doing any cal burning now pool is closed is my thought. Walked the cemetery but not doing that anymore. Youtube here I come. The sun showed up but it was wimpy. Had a brief battle with bamboo -- why does anything you cut want to fall on your head? Had turkey salad for lunch so here comes dad's chili for supper. And I went grocery shopping - Potato Bread was it. I don't hate it but it is not whole/multi-grain. Froze it and will feed it to son who lost my tiny hand sanitizer bottle at WalMart. He ate 10 cookies today, said he needed protein. Obviously, I did not teach carb, prtn, fats well. Was this Wednesday?1 -
Hope y'all are doing great. I started the day with a little inside walk, danced to Keith Urban video and started cleaning. Lots of bending and stretching movement today. After finishing it was so nice to have soup and a cup of tea ready in no time. Don't plan to go out today, maybe some popcorn and a movie later.
Barbiecat - wish MFP had virtual smell, turkey yum
teresdannar - savoring family and food traditions, wonderful
lindagalbreat - keep moving forward, yard work is both great exercise and therapy
Annlizz23 - Hugs, support is so helpful
lynnchristy - love everything about that pic, blessings everywhere
Fishwishing - hope you feel better. I'm waiting on my first Prime fresh scheduled delivery ever, we'll see
AnnPT77 - Thank you. Keep preaching to this choir sister
alligatorrob - beautiful view, hope you don’t have any more shaking
Bacpath - Thanks and let's dance…
Glad to hear the local distilleries are now producing hand sanitizer for the shortage in the marketplace. Lots of good can be found all around.
Best wishes to all.
Less news coverage and more distance from this state of the world are probably what's needed here. Om….

I want to thank everyone for the encouragement! I really appreciate it . I will not give up. Am going to take a little nap then get outside it is beautiful here today. Once again thank you!3

josephine, thank you for the hilarious words about my turkey. I have done nothing with my iris except stick them in the ground with some good potting soil.
My husband is high risk so he won't be going out any farther than the yard to walk the dogs. Today he did some much needed housework.
LInda, I have always believed that any day on this side of the grass is a good one. The best idea is to pick yourself up and do what you know will work. Do not look back in fear, anger, regret, shame, or anything else.
I have nothing to complain about. My needs are being met. This is a great time for me to learn about compassion, gratitude, setting priorities, and good time management.

@bacpath - here you go, enjoy
Ham & Cabbage Soup (4-6 servings)
3 tblsp. olive oil
2 cups chopped onion (1 medium)
2 cups chopped carrots (4 medium)
1 1/2 cup cubed lean ham steak (7.5 oz.)
1 tblsp. minced garlic (3 cloves)
1/2 tsp. fresh ground pepper
1tblsp. rosemary
Pinch crushed red pepper
8 cups chopped cabbage (1 1/2 lbs.) - any kind you like
1 (15oz.) can diced tomatoes with juices
6 cups chicken bone broth or low sodium broth
2 bay leaves
salt to taste (or not)
3 lemon slices or more to taste
Directions
Heat 2 tblsp. olive oil in stock pot over med. heat. Add onions, carrots and ham. Cook stirring some until onions are translucent and carrots have softened some (8 to 10 min.)
Add garlic, rosemary, both peppers. Cook 1 min. Stir in cabbage, diced tomatoes and broth. Add bay leaves.
Raise heat and bring to boil, taste and adjust salt (ham is already salty)
Partially cover with lid, reduce to low simmer. Simmer 20-30 min. until cabbage and carrots are tender.
Remove from heat, remove bay leaves, stir in lemon slices and 1 tblsp. olive oil. Serve
(I used my favorite soup spices in place of rosemary and bay leaves which I need to buy)
1 tblsp. basil from garden (microwaved and frozen last fall)
1 tblsp. paprika
1 tblsp. garlic powder
pinch cumin
pinch tumeric
Based on 4 servings per pot
327 calories... 28 g carb... 14 g fat... 28 g protein... 892 mg sodium... 15g sugar
* Found this somewhere on the net, can't find the site again but they said make it veg. without ham just add beans or make it with chicken to change it up. Sorry I can't take credit for the soup. It's very tasty.

Good evening everyone, I love reading your posts, AnnPT77 , you keep preaching. I totally agree with you, I NEVER want to be as overweight as I was & will not give up & will not go back to eating the way I used too!! I don't have much to say, nothing new, which is a good thing. Still going to work being a care giver & shelter worker where I wear boots, gloves & clean with disinfectant. The only places I'm not going is to church & bible study as they've been put on hold. I still walk my dogs & go to dog park, I'm never too close to anyone there physically because I'm paranoid about dogs running into me & knocking me down so I walk around the perimeter. One of my dogs ran into right above my knee in the early 90's. It was a very bad injury & long, painful recovery time. A year later I got hit by car riding my bike to work which threw me off my bike & onto my bad knee, after that I've had broken wrist, sprained wrist & sprained ankle from dogs running into me & other minor injuries so I stay away from playing dogs. Husband & I & our kids & friends are all well so far, hope we all & all of you stay that way. One of our sons & his wife both work at the hospital husband & I used to work at & they have 5 cases so far. We didn't hoard anything so will have to go shopping again next week. I went for a few things today. They were out of some things but it wasn't too bad. I'm off tomorrow but it's supposed to rain. I hope I can walk my dogs. Going to make some leek & potato soup. I already have 3 different meals in fridge. I don't like to cook on my work days so I like to prepare. Husband cooks some, mainly bbq's but does like to use the instant pot since we got it too.4

I officially updated & extended my weight loss plan. Originally it was 2019-2020, but moving out to 2021 now. Foolishly I set my expectations at 6lbs a month, and when you're class 2 obese, the first few months are not difficult to reach, but I adjusted it to 4lbs a month last October with success. Now, after being enlightened by those who have been through it and maintained (AnnPT77 especially), I'm going reduce my monthly goal to 3lbs in a few months and finally 2lbs a month to reach my dream goal. Slow & steady, enjoying the journey.7
