@jamfullhouse It is so kind of you to take your “elderly” lady friends to the store. I don’t know how old they are but at 70 and healthy, I do not consider myself elderly! The online learning thing is great - imagine if this had happened when you or I were in school. Our daughter said her girls are already tired of the confinement. @fmfdfa2020 I know the airport in Las Vegas is still operational. The main tower was shut down the other day for awhile because on of the air traffic controllers tested positive. We watched planes landing and taking off yesterday for about 1/2 hour. United, American, Alaska, Swoop, and some other small ones I can’t remember but mostly Southwest since this is their hub. They aren’t landing every 3 minutes or rapidly leaving like they usually do. The Strip was all but empty, little car traffic and few pedestrians, except for lots of police cars. Nearly everything is closed. This is south of Mandalay Bay (on the left) and this is usually bumper to bumper!

Just got a call. Mom’s surgery moved UP to next Tuesday. Surgeon is afraid they will be forced to push it out more than the 30 days so they are doing it now! We don’t need her tumor getting any bigger than it already is.

3/19 254.4 That’s the previous low I hit anything lower will be a new low. I was looking through my phone at older photos and then I saw my newer ones, the difference is so profound. It really helped me to see how far I’ve come.

03/18: 177.6 (A nice 2 lb drop from yesterday! I did an at home Zumba class from what I remember during the at person one using Spotify. I made a delicious dinner and tried to release some stress. I’m still going to work since they haven’t shut down and I don’t see them doing it unless the governor does it for the whole state. We’ll see! Taking it day by day!)

03/19: 178.8 (I’m super sore from my workouts at home! This weight gain is only temporary since I’ve completely changed the way I workout. I did another YouTube workout and ate to plan.)

03/20: 177.6 (I didn’t work out yesterday like I was supposed to and ate out of plan by having 2 mini brownies. I’m so stressed out because my husband has been ordered to not work and thankfully I work for an essential business so half of our normal income will come through just fine. My husband has to file from unemployment today and we’ll see how much he gets. It’s gonna be a struggle, but I’m grateful that I’ll have enough money for essentials. I need another mental health day, so I will be staying at home like we’ve been ordered to (I usually have every other Friday off so my weekend has started) and organizing my bathroom. 03/18 - 361.8 - Good news. My interview on Monday went well. Better news. I have applied for several positions with state (PA) and federal gov't. One position with the state just got back to me and said I scored a 100 on their test. Now I'm just a bit excited. Getting a job with either means I can use my time in the Air Force towards retirement. I'll have to work until I'm 72, but hey... it does take a huge weight off my shoulders. Bittersweet news... My mom has lived with me for the past 20+ years. We recently found out she has early stage dementia. But the state is saying she now qualifies for in-home health care. Which means that while I am at work, someone will be here most of that time. This would be another huge weight off my shoulders. I had to reset my scale and it jumped up. Not happy, but let's see how it goes for the next few day.
03/19 - 360.9 - At a time where the coronavirus is virtually collapsing our economy, I got offered a job yesterday. I just have to pass the background check. As long as my previous employers are honest, I'll be fine. I guess the stress was slowing my weightloss, since I'm down almost a pound. The real barometer is if it continues. Time will tell. Also got my payout from my 6-month DietBet. I put in $175 and got out $176.30. Yup, a whopping $1.30 of winnings. Needless to say, I won't be doing that again. And that's a cautionary tale for anyone interested/considering participating.

@quiltingjaine, my husband and I were looking at those pictures of Las Vegas, we lived there over 12 years! Even 10pm at night it’s never been THAT bare, 😩😩. I would avoid downtown because of the traffic. I hope ALL the big cities will be able to recover. Downtown Seattle is also a ghost town, unfortunately. It usually takes us to drive to Seattle MAYBE, 60/90 mins that’s without traffic. Now 40 mins, 😩😩

I had to scramble to get days requested off and get people notified. (My FMLA was approved to provide transportation to/from appointments.) Things in the hospitals and outpatient clinics are tightening up. No visitors except day of and day after surgery. Employees are having their temperature taken upon entering the buildings. Good news is that I have enough vacation time to put in for the week after Mom comes home. She has a 5 to 7 day inpatient stay though. 😔😔

2018:
My goal was to get down below 160, to allow me to enjoy the indulgences of holidays and celebrations.
2019:
I exceeded that and have been below 150 for most of the last 2 months.
In 2018, I put on 10 lbs over the last 2 months of the year.
In 2019, I consistently lost weight since the end of July. I put on about 4lbs over the Christmas break, but was still below my original 2019 goal.
That's a WIN in my book!

2020
Focus: maintenance! I might even manage to lose a bit more ever so slowly.

REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.

Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Stick with the process. It DOES work! But it does take time, effort, and most of all, patience!

Sorry for disappearing last round. There were so many changes to adjust to, and I never seemed to be able to get a post together. I went from being busy packing for a trip to see my son to being even busier cancelling travel arrangements, gearing up for teaching all of my courses online, picking up a few supplies, checking in with family, and keeping up with daily developments. More recently, I’ve been self-isolating (except for solitary walks outdoors), teaching online, and figuring this new reality one day at a time.

03/18 – 165.8 – Starting this round in a good place. Although I didn’t post last round, I managed weigh in and meet my calorie and exercise goals most days. Today was a pretty good day, despite the grim news reports and increasing restrictions. My online class went pretty well and I met my goals. I’m finding stability in the habits I’ve developed and serenity in my outdoor walks.
03/19 – 164.6 – After a rainy start to the day, the weather cleared and I got out for a walk again, tackling a more rugged trail to get my heart rate up. I’m glad the parks are still open, although I don’t know how long that will last. Got a few chores done, but much of the day was spent addressing online teaching issues and providing long-distance support for stressed family members. My sleep schedule is totally shot, but I’ve been pushing myself to fix simple, reasonably healthy meals and to stay hydrated. Glad to have the structure of these challenges to help me stay grounded.
03/20 – 164.6 – Unseasonably warm, but such a delight to get out in short sleeves and enjoy the weather. I skipped most of the chores and took the dog for a long walk in the park. Did well on calories but a little under on hydration.
