We are all old enough to have lived through emergency/crisis situations and have many coping skills. However., at times my brain forgets what crisis this is. What to do to be safe/prepared is different for Hurricane, flood, snow, drought, water shut off, electricity shut off, fire., smoke., roads are closed in all directions, personal health crisis.9

Good evening ladies!
I am in a better place tonight. We "locked" the front doors.(can't really lock as it is the only escape in event of fire up front). It will cost us more in credit card fees, but customers were overall understanding. We took their information over the phone, got their needs together(parts or equipment), called them back on their cell phones to get payment, delivered goods to their vehicle. Only really had to explain multiple times to two people that in order to keep our essential business open to the public, we have to remain 6 feet apart. Our first sale of the day was to a county worker for a tree down in a road. If someone wants to buy a piece of new equipment, only 1 person on showroom at a time. I did have a couple that paid cash, but I just put their change in the bag when I took their product back out to them. This is what all the dealers are doing.
Dinner was fried rice using leftover chicken, leftover rice, fresh broccoli, and fresh carrots. It always amazes me how a few items make such a great meal! Husband ate it even though he isn't a fan. He won't eat it reheated.
Cheri love your attitude! Cheers to a speedy recovery!
Michelle love the quilts!
Terri love the art!
SuziQ Your patio looks relaxing! Love your day out story. Reminds me of the video on Facebook about the guy and his hand washing experience! Love the cartoons!
Magaret I love the walks with your son and the sidewalk art!
Amber Great job on weight loss!
Allie Hugs!
Baby sucking thumb (sorry no notes) I so love that!
I am so thankful for you all! I am grateful for food, work, meds, and all of you for bringing me back down.

margaretturk wrote: »Added a layer to my mask under a friends suggestion. I took a select a size paper towel to cover it. Now as I change venues I can change the paper towel to keep mask cleaner. If handled properly and the filter part of the mask is not touched it could last I believe as long as two weeks. hard to say. On the filter I bought there is a yellow tab that *kitten* if the filter needs to be replaced. It is too big to put on this mask. This is a 3M product and I would like to see if they could add the tab. One of these masks if it works the was I think it does could replace up to 140 disposable masks in the course of two weeks. These are a lot more expensive to produce over a disposable masks and have there own issues. but right now there are not enough for our medical and civilians are on their own. That is why i show it to you because with the right materials you could make this in less than 15 minutes.
I haven't tried this but I thing this mask could be adapted to children. Currently the disposable masks only fit adults.
Just remember to tie your hair back when you go out.6 -

Did Dressed Up Drills DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do Cathe Drill Max DVD.
We were going to go to PetSmart (but fist Vince was going to drop me off at Aldi). Vince said this morning that he didn’t think he would go. He had diarrhea. I would have gone myself, but I didn’t say that. Now he’s going.
Went to Aldi. I was in and out in ½ an hour. I admit that I bought things that I don’t really need, but as I told Vince, you never know when they are out and they get more in stock. Plus, we’ll have this if we should go into a lockdown. You know, many times I’ll just look at the soft goods they have (dish drainers, chairs, that sort of thing). This time I didn’t even look at them. I was more focused on the food. Vince got the one and only case of Lexi’s food. Well, now we have enough for a few months. We would have to buy it anyway.
On the way home from Aldi we saw where they are going to be paving the road. This would be an ideal time to do that.
Janetr – congratulations. Jaxx looks so wonderful
A fair amount of grocery stores around here have shopping hrs just for seniors.
Last night Denise sent us a video of PJ. My thought was “how adorable. What if we’re not allowed to go see him in early May?”
The lady across the street from me’s husband has been deployed to Afghanistan for about 6 months now and she has no idea if he’ll be allowed to come back home.
At Aldi I saw this one woman wearing a scarf over her mouth. I never thought of doing something like that.
The schools here OFFICIALLY are closed until May 15, but I suspect it’ll be all year
Ammonia kills the virus? There’s a fair amount of ammonia around. I would think you could get a small spray bottle and just keep it in the car. Update: In quickly looking, I couldn’t find anything to confirm that ammonia will kill the virus.
Katla – what are the new rules for childcare facilities?
Carol GA – so glad BIL is home. That’s the place for him to be. Kroger might very well get your order ready and then keep it refrigerated
Beth – so glad for your dad and you. Congrats to your niece. So happy for you no longer at the church. What a worry it would have been for you if you had stayed there. That Brussel sprout recipe sounds so yummy
Cheri – what can I say???? When you make a C2C blanket, how many rows of increase, how many of no increase, and how many of decrease do you do? Lovely blankets
Lisa – I agree that leaving this group is not the way to handle the C-19 stuff. There are other things that we discuss, too, not just C-19
Heather – I’m so happy for your friend
SuziQ – in a way I’m glad we’re not at the condo. Not to be able to use the pool would kill me…lol It’s supposed to be somewhat warm here tomorrow so we’ll probably do more with the pool
Terri – lovely pictures, you are so talented
Anne DE – what’s the situation in DE? How are the daycares affected, if at all? I read somewhere but it was unsubstantiated that they were in some sort of lockdown???? What’s the story. I hope and pray that I can see PJ, even if it has to be at the end of May
Amber – thanks for the smiles
Vince upgraded some of the computers to Windows 10. Evidently, Turbo Tax will allow it on a Windows 7 this year, but next year they won't, it has to be Windows 10

I'm so psyched that some of you are signing up for the free course through Coursera entitled "The Science of Well-Being"! It's the most popular course in the entire history of Yale. The new semester is starting up now, but you can start later if you want and just work through it at your own pace. If you want to submit assignments for a grade and get a certificate of completion, it costs $49, but you can audit the course, as I am doing, for free. It is taught by Dr. Laurie Santos, a psychology professor, who says, "Our minds lie to us all the time. We miswant things. We think we need to change our life circumstances to become happier...what plays a much bigger role are our simple practices, simple acts like making a social connection, or taking time for gratitude, or taking time to be in the present moment."

Tomorrow I will have to go by the office and pick up my things to work from home. Not sure what all to get since I have different projects going on. I told my teens it will be like when they were little and I worked from home. I am sure they will be arguing between them and they will eat everything in sight. take care everyone.

This shelter in place is messing with my weight loss plan! I really miss my gym. I have videos, small weights, and resistance bands. I can work out at home. I'm just struggling to find the motivation. Last week was beautiful spring weather and I did get my walking in. Yesterday and today have been rainy and stormy. Pip, I need your boot desperately!
Beth, good news about your Dad. I think the job news was fairly good, too. Do you?
Margaret, I meant to mention this earlier. You have a beautiful voice! Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
Cheri, I'm glad to see you posting. I'm sorry for the breast cancer diagnosis, but it does seem that you caught it super early.
Allie, with the possibility of new medical issues, the suggestion that someone made (sorry, I can't remember who) for you to check into disability might be worth looking into.5 -

Thank you so much for missing me. I have gotten behind on checking in with this thread. I vow to do better. I was taking an online class that took a lot of my time, but I'm finished with it now.

Hi Dr Katie! Great to see you!
Could you team up with someone to do some exercise at the same time? Make a commitment to them. You could either text each other to start and check back in at the end, or actually WhatsApp, Facetime, Skype, or whatever you use. I'm like you, I'm much better when I have a commitment to someone else. If it's just me, bleh! I have my DH and a strict routine that hasn't really changed through all this, so our habits are strong. A good habit is worth building, but a friend is even better. Perhaps you could organize a virtual church exercise group who commit to a virtual session. Even the oldies could do something in a chair. Say twice a week? You could be the shining light that inspires them with all your experience.
We are doing something similar with the grandchildren to keep them inspired. Routine is important and my DDIL is good at that. Even as babies everything went by a strict timetable and it still does with more flexibility.
I'm not able to post their videos on here, but they were hilarious! DH did one too, but you could do something similar with a friend. Would your DH join in with you maybe? These are different times.
I really must get back to my writing. I've been distracted. I'm just about to start on the period when I was writing diaries, which I still have. 1964 and 1965. I was 14, 15 and a bit of 16. They were turbulent times for me. I was not a happy bunny, i was a mess, but those times were hugely important in the way I saw myself for many years. I do feel I have changed now. I make a commitment to you all to start again today - no more excuses!
Karen - the course sounds great. DDIL is putting stuff on Facebook that sounds similar. She has made a podcast, trying to help people through these times. Science based research into happiness. I think my Kindle is full of books about inner peace, happiness, self esteem, health, well being. Some are much better than others. I do prefer the science based ones to the woo woo. I really do feel changed by all this reading. It has made my life much better as at least some of it has sunk in. This group has helped in that, especially Barbie and her wisdom.
Strangely, I also get a lot of peace from reading good books about the end of life. Puts everything into perspective.
Love to all. Do something FUN today! Do something SILLY!

Another morning awakening at 3:30 am. It is my body's normal emergency mode so I will roll with it until my mind and body are in sync.
For what am I grateful for today? Oh, so many things.- I am blessed to have another healthy day on this sweet earth.
- I am grateful for my morning cup of coffee. It is single-sourced from Papua New Guinea. It's aroma and taste is smooth with hints of dark chocolate. It is complex, yet easy on the palate.
- I am grateful to have so many fond memories of those I have loved and still love. Although I am sometimes teary-eyed when I realize how much they are missed I am so very fortunate to have had them in my life.
- I am grateful for all of the researchers, nurses, doctors, empirical experts, and so many more who have joined across the world to work towards understanding C-19. All are doing their best to keep us better informed and stronger in the future.
- I am grateful I found this group. We are very much like the group mentioned above. We are all joining hands across the world to share our knowledge and support each other through life's ups and downs.
