YIPPEE thank God for small mercies. 🙏
In other news, my bf is having a total meltdown about caronavirus. I NEED a beer tonight he is busting my balls !!
In some ways, it's good to be single and live alone. In others, not so...
Hope your BF settles down and enjoys the time with you.2 -

3/25/2020 - Ventured out to the store to buy some corn meal and cat litter. Found the elusive chicken, finally! Only picked up two packs. Wanted to make sure there was plenty for others. Store also had a couple of other things I was looking for, but oddly.. no sugar except for teeny tiny packs. Still no bread or tortillas, but I can make both of those so no biggie.
It was eerily quiet. I know people are still going to and from work, but they are working on shifts to cut down on continued exposure with one another. I know people are still working, but the roads today made it seem like I was driving through a recently abandoned town. It was downright spooky.
A sunshiny day, 81 degrees and not a soul out... and no cars on the road. Super freaky.
The silver lining is that with the extra time? I don't mind cooking for the family as much. And now that I have the elusive chicken, I can make enchiladas (finally). Whoot.
Small things, right?4 -

Yeah, it definetly has it's perks! Not so long ago I was still living in my own flat, before moving in fully with him...lots of good aspects to sharing a home, but yeah, I do miss my own 'me time'. And 'me space' from time to time. Especially now when he is asking me to wear a very imposing respirator mask. It's a half face mask (as opposed to the full one, which I'm sure he gave consideration to) I say asking, more like hauranging. But in my job, working with some of societies most vulnerable & mentally unwell individuals, it would scare the beejesus out of them. I need to be able to protect myself but still be respectful and approachable. And the thing is, I can't wear that mask all the time, I'm running about constantly so it needs time to be fitted absolutely correctly in order to protect. It's ok for him saying he will wear his, when he goes food shopping once a week but I would be wearing it A LOT
And tbh nobody else is wearing anything remotely as hard core as that. My work gave me a small white mask today which doesnt offer as much protection but it's just more feesable.
This saga with the mask will not end. I need to find a good mask, that won't make people back away from me 😂😂
It's been a few years since I've lived with someone. But, I can completely relate on some of that stuff. I get his concern. But, I'd say you have the right thoughts on it scaring them. The smaller one, if it's an N95 mask should be good for general use and a bit more ease of use. All in risk mitigation I think. I'd keep the larger one in a bag though if you do need to go out. The black mask is a bit of work to fit, and they are uncomfortable. When I was on the fire dept we had full SCBA which gets uncomfortable after a while. Painful after a while

I better not tell him about the SCBA mask....that will be the next thing 😂
If that's the case, then he'll have to pony up for an air tank, harness/framepack and a compressor to fill it with.
Might be a bit cost prohibitive. But, you could always use it as an argument.1 -

You really have to keep that sense of humour! Even without current events, I've found that having a bit of a dark sense of humour while working in medical field and emergency services was necessary. One of the reasons why I love nurses so much.Anyone who is Scottish will LOVE this.
Caronavirus, so tragic as it is, is also bringing out peoples sense of caring for each other and being 'in it, together' hope this video brings a few laughs !

I'm not Scottish (but I do wear kilts on occasion), but I do love it!1 -

No joke, i got up to pee last night and kept seeing people in the shadows out of the corner of my eye. That hasn’t happened to me in many years. I don’t like it.3 -

That’s exactly what i do. I make myself act normally. Don’t look, dont run. 🤷♀️4 -
Welp - new personal low...I saw TP at the grocery store and felt the need to text people about it.
I work in an "essential business" - the drive to work is half the usual time.
I've discovered it's hot and claustrophobic wearing a surgical mask all day at work - and side note, my breath is in check 😁
I'm starting to appreciate my mothers food and supply 'horde' (or what I used to think it was)
In general I'm trying to be even more appreciative of my days, work (I'm grateful to have), time off (make the most of it), good health (take advantage of).6 -

I heard the 'voice' again this morning...all it says is my name (usually), clear and crisp - excellent enunciation - a little urgent
...auditory hallucination, I suppose - but wakes me suddenly and gives me the creeps a bit3 -

Only once about twenty years ago. But not from under the stairs. I’ve decided it was some kind of CB transmission gone awry.1 -
Well my TDEE is going down because I can't take my little walks to Starbucks to get my boss his drink anymore because they went drive thru only and now he wants to do online banking so I can't sneak some more exercise in when I go make the deposit so that's pissing me off.1

I’m going with CB. I lived close to an expressway and it was probably a trucker coming through my stereo speakers1 -
I’m gonna try my hand at making those cloth masks...told my family not to expect it to look the greatest lol. Buuuttt on a side note there’s not been any hallucinations or voices yet....yet. I’m feeling caged in the house pretty bad so I’m sure it’s on it’s way hahaha1

By no means I want to undermine the respect of the deaths.
But I am totally upset by politicians lack of perspective. They just panicked. Unlike JAPAN that handled it way better, IMO - no panic there.
Don't they realize that severe influenza (not the common flu) KILLS 290 000 to 650 000 persons year after year?
At the end of the current episode/year, we might be in the surreal situation where
[nb of cases covid-19 deaths ] + [nb of case of influenza deaths ] <<< [average of influenza deaths in the last years]
Now we see this very mess.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8155805/Unemployment-claims-rise-time-high-3-28-MILLION.html
I had to proceed to massive lay-offs and I am still under shock. All this money means HUGE debts and tax increases. What the hell are they thinking?
Just my opinion.

I have discovered just how uncomfortable my home office chair is (ok, it's a dining room table chair). So I ordered a nice new office chair to be delivered to my home and charged it to my work account. I figure if I'm expected to put in 8 hours a day from home I should be comfortable doing it. Although technically we could get away with being "essential" (as my boss has reminded me several times). He's just mad because he has a mental block about working from home so is going into the office but keeping the doors locked and a sign up that we aren't open and, therefore, has no one to talk to.
Never mind that my doctor does not want me out and about due to some blood issues putting me in a higher risk category.2 -

There'd be millions of deaths annually, via the severe influenza if: 1st it was new, thus there'd be no immunity & 2nd there wasn't any vaccine, as' the case with this virus.3 -
Everything is closed here. Restaurants are take-out or delivery only. At first the grocery stores were wiped out of bread, meat, toilet paper, sanitizer, etc. People have calmed down a bit. You still might not be able to find exactly what you usually buy but you can get something. I still take my daily walk. I'm retired so no kids home just husband under foot 😁 . The thing that bothers hubby most is you can't get the same answer from officials - social distancing, isolation, what can we do or not do, what should we do or not do, who can get tested, who can't. He's very close to the 70 year old threshold. I'm not there yet. In any case I'm trying to keep my routine as normal as I can. I have read online library books for years. I'm also an avid knitter.

Its probably because the city is struggling, but there are alot of areas in NY that are very rural and still fairly untouched. I am glad that so far the US has been letting more local authorities make decisions. Timing is important and different areas have different needs right now.3
