03/28 250.4 I didn’t have much yesterday for breakfast, so I treated myself to some frozen yogurt. I also went grocery shopping and managed to find food! I was so happy to find some real food and almost stocked shelves for the first time in a few weeks.
03/29 251.2 No hugs needed! I was under calorie yesterday, but had all the carbs, nearly double what I usually eat. For some reason my appetite was still a little off in the morning and I treated myself just a little in the afternoon and evening. It was a very nice day and I learned that these days I’m happy with a happy meal.
03/30 251.4 The carb bounce always takes a couple of days to go. I finally got a good night sleep last night after a couple of days of either not sleeping or using sleeping pills.
03/31 250.6 There we go back down and hopefully some more losses in days to come.
04/01 250.8 Hmm, this week is now trending closer to my trend during ovulation than last weeks trend. With perimenopause who knows when what is happening anymore. It’s okay though I know that I’m eating within my calorie goals and I just have to wait out the water. On the plus side while at Walmart I picked up some new clothes because my light pants won’t stay up and it’s too warm for sweatpants. I had to get both a 20 and 22 because dressing rooms were closed and the 20s fit, just barely, so I’m keeping both so that I have something to wear while I lose a little more to fit comfortably into the 20s. It won’t be long and I’m just so thrilled that it I can find pants with ease.
04/02 250.0 Well my weight finally matches my drivers license. I’m at also at the lowest I’ve been in over 20 years.
04/03 249.6 I was hopeful of seeing this number yesterday during my “official” weigh in, but that’s okay I’m happy that I get to type that four now. By staying the course I’ll get to show it off next week.
04/04 247.8 I’ll see what tomorrow brings because I’m worried this is a false low. However, I am very on track so who knows, I guess I’ll see tomorrow.
04/05 248.0 Not too shabby.
04/06 247.6 A loss is always a nice way to end a round. My nsv for this round was buying new underwear in a smaller size.

Hi, I’m Karen and I’m in my 50’s
OSW-187 Sept. 2018
Walk +/- 7 miles 4 x week. Goal Weight this Round: 152
Drink plenty of water, alcohol on weekends
SW-54
3/28-154-I know it will take me a long time to get out of the 150’s. I haven’t weighed this little in over 10 years. I’m keeping myself busy quilting, cleaning and walking during this time. This stay at home thing isn’t bad for a quilter. I just like going to the quilt shop for the social aspect; most Quilter’s have a “stash” of fabric and projects. A lot of them are making face masks, as long as they have elastic. I started my first day of “physical therapy “ yesterday at the chiropractor; a young guy smashed into the back of my car as I was coming to a stop a few days ago. I believe this will be an easy fix, it will just take time. By yesterday, I was able to walk about 4 miles and I will get back into sewing today. It’s all part of life. Glad to see all of you here!💚☕️
3/29-156-comfort food yesterday, but got all 7 miles in and my lower back is sore this morning. Glad to be in 150’s. It’s all good.
3/30-154-Careful eating, but no walk. Hmmmm. A walk for sure today...It’s Monday, here we go!☕️
3/31-157- Made creamed spinach; it has bacon, had salmon too....and some chocolate. Back on the wagon today!
4/1-156-Whew! Friends delivered BBQ’ed chicken and biscuits-real comfort food. Today I’ll make chicken & dumplings.
4/2-158 Not enough walking. PT 3x/week. I’ll get more walking this weekend.
4/3-156
4/4-155
4/5-156-Glad to be in the 150’s
4/6-156-Comfort food and movies yesterday....too much rain for walks. See all of you next round.😊9 -

03/28: 213.3
03/29: 213.7 (+0.4)
03/30: 212.2 (-1.1)Started walking 1/2 hour (1.5 miles) again yesterday. Could this have helped?
03/31: 212.4 (-0.9)walked 1/2 hour again yesterday. Still happy to be below the starting weight! Trying to log food and water again. I do better when I'm honest with myself.
04/01: 212.3 (-1.0)down is happy even when only a tenth of a pound. Walked 1/2 hour yesterday. still working on that logging thing.
04/02: 213.0 (-0.3)didn't walks yesterday
04/03: 212.9 (-0.4)walked the dog, but didn't get my 1/2 hour cardio. Clearly that matters. Also ate too much for dinner.
04/04: 213.1 (-0.2)walked the dog, and up to the pharmacy to pick up refills. walking definitely helps!
04/05: 212.1 (-1.2)more than 10k steps yesterday. Shopping for those who must stay at home.

Day/Weight/Comment
03/27 …..203.8….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
03/28 …..203.5 …..
03/29 …..203.5 …..
03/30 …..203.5 …..
03/31 …..203.5 ….. 04/01 …..203.2 ….. I pre-logged yesterday to have a blueprint to follow since my discipline has been pretty bad. I did go back and change it up a bit choosing some not as healthy over more of the healthy choices, but overall, I stayed within my overall goals pretty well. Today, I will try to stick to the healthier choices. The sugar-free ice cream bars are all gone now. Down 0.3 so I am feeling pretty good about that.
04/02 …..203.2 ….. Under cals but carbs a little higher than I’d hoped for. I over-reacted to a sugar drop and fast hunger. I handled it so-so.
04/03 …..203.1 ….. Finally, no severe glucose drop last night (after 3 of them this week). Sadly, I know why. It was the sugar I ate. I did very very very well all day until about 1:00 a.m. when I had a sugary (and unnecessary) snack that I shouldn’t have had. Otherwise, I KNOW the scale would have reflected an even bigger loss. However, anything is better than nothing! So far today, a great day again. However, it’s a challenge getting enough movement in. Paying bills today online for the business so a lot of sitting. Trying to get up every hour, get some steps in, burn more than what I’ll be eating. It is beautiful here today in Michigan. Sad because our Governor said in her conference yesterday that our shut-in will probably be extended beyond the current April 13th date. Thinking of you all……
04/04 …..203.1 ….. More of the same. I did very well yesterday but another late night snack due to cravings, not glucose drops. No gain, but it is definitely stopping my losses. Come on Donna! Get your butt together! Glucose is way too high this morning due to late night madness!
04/05 …..202.8 ….. Another morning of a severely high glucose level. These wild swings are crazy. Nighttime has been much better the last couple of nights with no severe drops. It seems to be either dangerously low or dangerously high. I can’t seem to find the sweet spot yet but I’m working on it. Yesterday my diet was on plan, I got in some exercise including a 33 minute dance set. Sample song, “You Sexy Thing” by Hot Chocolate. It rained all day and was cold. Today it is bright and sunny but very cold. Cabin cleaning day.
04/06 …..202.8 ….. One pound lost this round which meets goal (I suppose). While my sugars are dropping about 10 points each morning, they are still running too high (in the red). No major weight will drop while they are running this high. It’s just the way it is. Everything will be stored as fat. I just have to keep working on self-discipline and tweaking the diet. So to lose the one pound is a win for sure! I have basically GAINED every single round since the end of October so I am feeling pretty good right now. I am extra tired from cleaning all the tourist cabins yesterday. The extra precautions to keep things virus free are rough and time consuming but so necessary. Today I hope for a little “me time” but I would like to stay active and keep the momentum going. I am thinking perhaps a movie night with my son tonight. Nice round everyone! See you in the next one!

Day/Weight/Comment
3/28: 140.0 (+1.4) – How does one gain a pound and half in one day you ask? Hmmm. I’d love to blame the scale. My scale does seem to jump around but tbh, I ate crappy in the afternoon and evening. Popcorn, candy, several glasses of wine on the deck because the weather was nice. Then dinner was take out Japanese bento with sushi, beef bulgogi, tempura vegetables. So much salt and unheathly. It’s a new challenge, new week, new day. So time to move on from yesterday’s mistakes.💪
3/29: 139.2 (-.8) Did a really nice long bike ride and listened to a very good video from a doctor about dealing with Covid. And then had Italian for dinner. Nice quiet night.
3/30: 139.8 (+.6) The flux are due to choices – food, salt, snacking, drinking, sweets. I know it. Now what choice am I going to make to get back on track this week? Eating well, moving my body, drinking water, self care. April is going to last forever!🙄
3/31: 138.2 (-1.6) Weighed twice. Reset scale. No idea. Nuff said……
4/1: 138.6 (+.4) Did a 15 mile bike ride. Ate ok but some ice cream. It was so good.
4/2: 138.0 (-.6) Cycled, worked, ate. These days are running together. Can it be 2021 yet?
4/3: 138.6 (+.6) not a great eating day….salty snack foods and candy. Did I mention wine?
4/4: 140 (+.4) Covid kid is home and we are eating all of his favorites. I will reaffirm my goals come Monday
4/5: 142 (+2.0) I highly doubt this is fat – very high sodium day yesterday, fast food, Mexican food, etc.
4/6: 140.8 (-1.2) Yep….sodium, etc….getting back on track and eating more veggies will help.
Not the best round...started better than it ended. But I realize the causes and know what to do next round. I have the power 💪😎

🙂 I'm glad to be back for another round. Posting daily helps me stay accountable. I've missed a few rounds but I'm working my way back.
I ended Round108 at 166.6lbs
This time around I'll
- get down to165lbs or less and
- complete 1 full hr of exercise each day
It will happen as long as I stay on plan. I have everything I need on hand so No Excuses!

04/03 Too Crazy to Care!
I'm holding myself accountable for having done nothing I promised myself this round. Worse, this applies to every area of my life and not just health and wellness mini goals.
I feel Blessed that my immediate family has not been infected. However, my home town is at the epicenter of this thing and we all live within a short drive off where we grew up. Furthermore, I'm stuck 1000 miles away because I needed to attend to matters out of town. Normally I enjoy solitude and my own company but with this global pandemic I'm losing my isht!
Tomorrow I'll weigh in and attempt to post something both relevant and coherent. Thanks for allowing me to rant.
04/04. 171.4? I think
I weighed but neglected to record it so I'm just guessing at how far I've swung the wrong way. What I'm certain of is this is bad and it is the result of eating the worst things for me personally.
My head is still not on straight but I've regained calorie control. Recording everything I eat is key especially when I've gone astray.
I've got a way to go with my workout plan. This has always been the easiest thing for me but suddenly it's no longer a no brainier. That's troubling. Muscle tone feeds my vanity especially around my mid section. I need my waistline back.
Tomorrow I'll get a proper weight. By staying with my heaviest time of day for the record, there is no lying to myself.
04/05. 173.6
My sins are all on the scale. They are also apparent in the edema I'm carrying and the outcry my digestive tract is making.
Overnight nibbling blew up yesterday's calorie goal. So far today I've had loads of calories but little nutrition. I'm handling the remainder of today minute by minute in order to reign myself in.
I'm both bloated and feeling thirsty because of my poor diet and living the definition of lethargic over the past week. A swift and firm kick in the backside for me. Time to fake it until I feel it.
Lots of water. Protein first. Ditch the carbs. Avoid processed foods. Exercise with purpose. This is what's needed to regain control of my diet for life.
04/06. 173.2lbs
This number makes me want to scream! That's a long way up from the 166.6lbs I chartered ten days ago. I know how I got here. TBD is how much is temporary & how much is real fat gain. Provided I stick with my diet for life I'll know what's what over the next few days.
Please protect yourselves, loved ones, all of humanity.

Round 109 - March 28 to April 6
Female, 5’, 67 years. SW – 165.6 (this is a blip up), GW – 163 something, UGW – 140.
Goals: continue with 12 hr. IF, complete my tracking every day and get some kind of outdoor exercise unless it is raining. That could be spring yard work or walking. 3x a week – either gym exercises I can do at home or other (like fitness video). Reminded again by my weight at the beginning of this round that I must get in the movement.
Day/Weight/Comment
03/28 – 165.6 – Couldn’t believe this at first as I’ve been 163/164 for most of the last round. Then I thought about it and realized – extra ice cream (1 cup vs my usual ½ cup), extra oat scone last night, mainly sitting the last week with very little exercise, etc. … all little things but they add up. I did go for a walk last evening which felt great, although man am I slow.
03/29 – 165 – IF 12 hrs., did not finish tracking. Raining outside so I did exercises while listening to a podcast instead of just sitting. Prepped the trim I need to paint – thought I would get it painted but my chatty granddaughter phoned. Happy to have the talk with her and likely better to give the arm a break after all the sanding.
03/30
03/31 – 164.4
04/01 – 164.4 – IF 12 hrs. Tracked everything. Not so great about getting on here but making good progress on the painting trim. LOTS of phone calls … even from people we haven’t heard from in ages - I think they are bored. Of course our kids want to check in on us as well. So this is all great but after while I let DH answer cause I was not going to get finished otherwise. More prep to do today. Started doing exercises in the evening if I’m watching Youtube.
04/02 – 165 – No IF since I had a handful of dried cranberries late in the evening. Did not track but quite sure I was within cals. However, my inner self just rebelled at doing more painting prep. and I sat and stitched most of the day. I love doing that but it’s not good for the body – my eyes and hand need a break and my body needs exercise, sigh. At least binge stitching is better that binge eating …
04/03 – 165
04/04 – 165.8 – Thought I had a really good day yesterday and the usual IF. Today will make myself track. I notice with my husband that he is eating way more now that he is stuck at home so maybe I’ve eaten more than I realized. We’ve had snow and rain since the beginning of this round but today is lovely so hoping to get in a walk.
04/05 – 164.8 – Ah, back down to something reasonable but not likely to make it to the 163’s this round. Busy day painting yesterday so didn’t get outside but did have the window open in the afternoon. Have my “Easter” ham in the oven today because just got so bored with what we were eating and thought ham would liven up this week’s menu. Definitely planning a walk with afternoon unless it’s hailing or something – kind of cold and grey out there right now.
04/06 – 165.8 – Not sure why this is up – hoping it’s the extra salt from the ham and eating store made soup later in the day. The other option is a plain old gain as I saw this # a couple of days ago. Didn’t track but did stick to IF – 12 hrs. and reasonable eating. Also went for a short walk and it was not nearly as cold as I expected. See you all next round!8 -

Day/Weight/Comment
03/28 - 356.0 - I conducted a little experiment. I live near Philly, where we are known for our cheesesteaks. Lots of shredded meat, cheese, some fried onions and mushrooms, all slapped on a roll. So I bought one yesterday. But while I ate it, I also drank my ACV drink. I wanted to see if the ACV would affect my insulin and fat storage. Now I admit I don't quite understand the biomechanics well, but my calorie intake for yesterday was only 300 under my daily normal intake. But my weight loss was 1.4 lbs. I don't want to do this too often, but when I did our weekly shopping (the ONLY time I am around anyone during this quarantine), mom asked for donuts from our Amish farmer's market. Imagine pie filling (apple, strawberry, etc.) injected into a dough roll. One for mom, one for me. I'll be trying the ACV before eating mine. But I have been using the ACV before I eat my processed carbs and it seems to decrease/affect my insulin and weight loss for the positive. Anecdotal experiment, I know.
03/29 - 356.3 - That'll teach me for eating finger food for dinner. Egg rolls, taquitos and potstickers. WAY overdid it. Very tasty, though.
03/30 - 356.3 - No change... and weird. My calories were short by almost 700 yet no move down. Now I'm confused. I'll just stay the course and hope it corrects in the next few days.
03/31 - 356.1 - Slight downtick. I'm wondering if this is my first plateau. If so, I don't like it. I want to move down. Just kidding. I stopped my ACV for a couple of days and suddenly I've stopped. I've got to simply stick with what has worked and not play around with it. On a good note for substituting foods, I picked up some cauliflower crust pizzas to replace the standard flour and water. Still take Mom for an early morning walk and then my own walk. And two of the last three days I'm adding a kettelbell workout in. Slow, small steps are what get us there. Not dramatic changes that we can't sustain. My opinion. Everyone stay safe!
04/01 - 355.5 - Stumbled across a YouTube video yesterday talking about taking cold showers. I thought it was an early April Fool's joke, but after watching it and the links to others, I saw several important health benefits to it. Two that I think could help most of us on this site. First, cold showers help with weight loss. Apparently, by forcing the body temp lower, it causes us to shiver, which burns fat. Now, they say it only burns UP TO 9 lbs. a year, but every little bit helps. Second, where a hot shower opens the pores and allows things into the skin that don't belong. Cold showers close the pores and prevent impurities in. What impurities? How about those things like bacteria that cause pimples, sores, etc. So, I tried it. I started with a luke warm shower and gradually made it colder and colder. Refreshing, and not as difficult as you might think.
04/02 - 355.8 - another minor uptick. Meh... I'm doing my early morning walk, but having trouble motivating myself to start lifting weights again.
04/03 - 355.5 - another small drop, back to Wednesday. But it was very windy this morning so I didn't go out for my walk.
04/04 - 355.5 - I'm either stuck or my scale needs to have the batteries changed. There's no way I stay virtually the same for this long... unless I really have hit a plateau. It's ok if I have, just bummed because it's right before I hit the 50 lb. loss mark. I know... stay the course. Just frustrating.
04/05 - 355.5 - A whole lotta nothing. Went for a longer walk this morning. Maybe I can use this to FINALLY light a fire under my *** and start lifting some weights.
04/06 - 355.0 - A small drop, but I'm not complaining. When I adjusted my macros before I started, I kept my carbs at 40%. That usually means anywhere from 250 to 320 grams of carbs. I'm not into keto, but I think I need to start dropping this number. My problem is that I love either a bagel or toast in the morning. Now the bread I use is fairly healthy, with 10g. of fiber and protein, but bagels... I may have to give up the ghost. I had to go out this morning to pick up some supplies, so I fabricated a mask (already have gloves). I was shocked to see so many taking NO precautions. If a person wants to be arrogant and not care about themselves, IMO they should, at the very least, consider the people they live with. This pandemic won't end until people realize it can over in a month if we all take the proper steps... or we can drag this out and their will be many, many more casualties. Please, PLEASE take care of yourself, which will also take care of your families and friends!!!

I failed... I accidentally fell asleep and took a nap while on my computer for work. But I forced myself awake (waking from naps is nearly impossible for me), took a shower, and cleaned the interior of my Jeep. Tomorrow my Rec Therapist friend is hosting yoga via Zoom for her work (with injured soldiers) and she invited us to join (just now allowed to have video or audio on us since we aren't soldiers. I'm allowed as a veteran but I won't be rude). Hopefully that will be enough to jump start me back into activity.7

03/28: 177.4 (I had a really good burrito from a local Mexican place and that is the reason for the gain along with no workout since it’s my rest day. All worth it within plan!)
03/29: 180.8 (wow, what an increase! TOM is arriving today so I know that’s why I have such a high increase. And we ordered Chinese from a nearby restaurant and I ate half of my meal. The food is notoriously salty, so I know that may be the reason. It’s okay! Back to my regular workout schedule today!)
03/30: 181.4 (A small increase! I did a workout for an hour on YouTube again and made some chicken fajitas. Hoping TOM comes and the weight starts to fall down before Friday!)
03/31: 180.4 (TOM decided to make an appearance yesterday afternoon as expected! It explains all the gaining and I was able to get a good workout in. Working from home is going well! Hopefully I feel this positive still in a month.)
04/01: DNW (I ate breakfast and completely forgot to weigh myself! I’ll make sure to weigh in before I start my work computer on. I did well with my eating and I hope that tomorrow I’ll see the 170’s.)
04/02: 179.6 (Its barely going down a few. I know the reason for the gain so far but I’ll keep trucking along!)
04/03: 178.4 (Not what I wanted to see, but TOM weight gain is real! I hope those pounds drop for next Friday’s weigh in. I did my fourth workout of the week yesterday and I’m exhausted!)
04/04: 179.2 (I had the day off from work and decided to sleep in and then make some cookies. It was a very lazy day coupled with tons of Netflix.)
04/05: 180.4 (I had another off day from working out and I decided to tackle my closet that I share with my hubby. Four hours later and with some sore hamstrings, I have the cleanest closet since I moved in more than 4 years ago. This is one of the positives to having to stay at home!)
04/06: 180.2 (Pretty shocked I didn’t gain weight from the massive salad I made for lunch! It’s a Monday challenge end which means for sure I’ll have an increase. I did a dance workout at home and burned 600 calories! I was a sweaty mess and it was a blast. Onto the next round!)
Total gain this round: +4.0 pounds

I' m in! Thank you, @GrandmaJackie!
70 year old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion......Oh, well. I'll just keep working on it.
We used to walk 5 miles a day. A pinched nerve and back surgery side-lined me for about a year. Then I had back surgery. Then I had hip surgery March 10th. Recovery is slow. Sure do want to be back walking!

Looking forward:
- March: I need to focus on getting back to where I was pre-Christmas
- 2020: Goal is to stabilise weight around 145
- Strengthen strategies to reframe the tendency to use unhealthy snack food as a reward/treat.
- Make sure I have prepared healthy snacks available
- Cut down on eating between meals
Back Story:2018:2020
My goal was to get down below 160, to allow me to enjoy the indulgences of holidays and celebrations.
2019:
I exceeded that and have been below 150 for most of the last 2 months.
In 2018, I put on 10 lbs over the last 2 months of the year.
In 2019, I consistently lost weight since the end of July. I put on about 4lbs over the Christmas break, but was still below my original 2019 goal.
That's a WIN in my book!
Focus: maintenance! I might even manage to lose a bit more ever so slowly.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Day/Weight/Comment
03/28 192.0 grr I’m tired of seeing this number. I mean I was WAY under on calories, they were almost all high quality calories, plus I had the best run in years. I’m still hoping this is hormonal and will release all at once in a few days.
03/29 191.8 all I can think is my body is getting too efficient. Doing the same things most days, under for calories, but zero weight lost in the last 7 days. I keep saying I need to mix it up but now I have to commit to that with some planning
03/30 191.2 finally some trend down. Overall not huge movement, but better than I’ve been doing. Cross fingers this keeps going.
03/31 191.6
04/01 191.4 too busy yesterday to post, but I did weigh. 10 days later, same number. I would really hate to think these are my maintenance calories, but it’s hard to chock this up to hormones any longer. If it’s a factor of staying indoors to work—how do work from home folks cope? I’m actually not overeating, I’m always green on calories. I weigh and measure. I’m still getting out for daily exercise, I just don’t get the same daily movement of getting from meeting room to meeting room. (I commute to my kitchen...and it’s much closer to my desk than the break room or bathrooms at work are!) I’m going to give it a few days longer then move up to maintenance calories just in case it’s a factor of eating too little (doesn’t feel like it, but who know).
04/02 191.8 I’m just not believing these numbers. I really am not cheating myself in any way. And I’m getting in good movement. And realistically my stress doesn’t feel all that much worse than bad days at work usually do. I’m sure it’s in the background but it’s not driving me crazy or anything. This weekend I have to figure out something different to jolt out of this weight!
04/03 191.4 ok, I’m done with this. Switching up to maintenance calories this weekend. If I’m not going to lose (been this weight since March 22, almost 2 weeks without moving down) then I might as well try to actively maintain.
04/04 191.4 went up to maintenance calories and nailed the exact same weight. Not what I really want but at least no gain yet when eating more. Let’s see how this plays out.
04/05 192.0 oh boy. Back to the start of this sequence. Was still green on calories. No exercise though. Rest day.
04/06 191.8 green on calories. Sure doesn’t show.
