@quiltingjaine, ❤{{{big hugs}}} I know our situation is difficult. We miss socializing with friends and family, even random conversations with strangers. I hope that you and your husband are taking advantage of video calls with family and friends. It's not the same as a touch, hug or kiss, but the connection helps alleviate the isolation. My Grands, 3 & 6 years old, call me almost every morning during their breakfast and we talk about what they will do during the day. Sometimes they call, because they want me to watch them play😄 My granddaughter says she wants to see me, not on video call.😢 We will get through this, but our lives are changed and will remain so.

Yes, I agree. EVERYONE should do their own research. I don't believe we are being told all of the information that is known, by CDC, WHO, NIH or any federal agency. I am certain it would create total chaos amongst the masses if we were to know everything, but I like knowing the truth. Better to know the truth than be in a state of turmoil.

03/29 …..203.5 ….. Ahhh…The more things change the more they stay the same. I honestly thought I would see a drop on the scale, a reward of sorts, because my diet was improved. However, my calorie burn was almost non-existent so I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised. Today is another chance to make myself healthier in every way! For everyone that is shut-in, enjoy your family, pets, that book you’ve been wanting to read, that really good movie and/or that project you’ve been meaning to finish. I am thinking of you all! 03/30 …..203.5 ….. Day 3 exactly the same. I guess I am not making enough changes, but then again, I kind of already knew that, didn’t I???? No changes in my choices, no changes on the scale. Go figure!
03/31 …..203.5 ….. Still no change. I increased my steps yesterday. Improved my diet somewhat (again) but still not quite on point. Today I will begin a new strategy. I have already logged all the food I plan on eating. If I stick to the blueprint, I will be back on my way to success and health. And good health and immunity is something we could all use at this time! It usually takes me about 3 days to get my body to stop screaming for sugar, carbs and all the other things I need to limit so I am hoping for best for the next 3 days (and beyond). Ground zero.
04/01 …..203.2 ….. I pre-logged yesterday to have a blueprint to follow since my discipline has been pretty bad. I did go back and change it up a bit choosing some not as healthy over more of the healthy, but overall, I stayed within my overall goals pretty well. Today, I will try to stick to the healthier choices. The sugar-free ice cream bars are all gone now. Down 0.3 so I am feeling pretty good about that.

03/28 - 356.0 - I conducted a little experiment. I live near Philly, where we are known for our cheesesteaks. Lots of shredded meat, cheese, some fried onions and mushrooms, all slapped on a roll. So I bought one yesterday. But while I ate it, I also drank my ACV drink. I wanted to see if the ACV would affect my insulin and fat storage. Now I admit I don't quite understand the biomechanics well, but my calorie intake for yesterday was only 300 under my daily normal intake. But my weight loss was 1.4 lbs. I don't want to do this too often, but when I did our weekly shopping (the ONLY time I am around anyone during this quarantine), mom asked for donuts from our Amish farmer's market. Imagine pie filling (apple, strawberry, etc.) injected into a dough roll. One for mom, one for me. I'll be trying the ACV before eating mine. But I have been using the ACV before I eat my processed carbs and it seems to decrease/affect my insulin and weight loss for the positive. Anecdotal experiment, I know.
03/29 - 356.3 - That'll teach me for eating finger food for dinner. Egg rolls, taquitos and potstickers. WAY overdid it. Very tasty, though.
03/30 - 356.3 - No change... and weird. My calories were short by almost 700 yet no move down. Now I'm confused. I'll just stay the course and hope it corrects in the next few days.
03/31 - 356.1 - Slight downtick. I'm wondering if this is my first plateau. If so, I don't like it. I want to move down. Just kidding. I stopped my ACV for a couple of days and suddenly I've stopped. I've got to simply stick with what has worked and not play around with it. On a good note for substituting foods, I picked up some cauliflower crust pizzas to replace the standard flour and water. Still take Mom for an early morning walk and then my own walk. And two of the last three days I'm adding a kettelbell workout in. Slow, small steps are what get us there. Not dramatic changes that we can't sustain. My opinion. Everyone stay safe!
04/01 - 355.5 - Stumbled across a YouTube video yesterday talking about taking cold showers. I thought it was an early April Fool's joke, but after watching it and the links to others, I saw several important health benefits to it. Two that I think could help most of us on this site. First, cold showers help with weight loss. Apparently, by forcing the body temp lower, it causes us to shiver, which burns fat. Now, they say it only burns UP TO 9 lbs. a year, but every little bit helps. Second, where a hot shower opens the pores and allows things into the skin that don't belong. Cold showers close the pores and prevent impurities in. What impurities? How about those things like bacteria that cause pimples, sores, etc. So, I tried it. I started with a luke warm shower and gradually made it colder and colder. Refreshing, and not as difficult as you might think.

Female, 5’, 67 years. SW – 165.6 (this is a blip up), GW – 163 something, UGW – 140.
Goals: continue with 12 hr. IF, complete my tracking every day and get some kind of outdoor exercise unless it is raining. That could be spring yard work or walking. 3x a week – either gym exercises I can do at home or other (like fitness video). Reminded again by my weight at the beginning of this round that I must get in the movement.

03/28 – 165.6 – Couldn’t believe this at first as I’ve been 163/164 for most of the last round. Then I thought about it and realized – extra ice cream (1 cup vs my usual ½ cup), extra oat scone last night, mainly sitting the last week with very little exercise, etc. … all little things but they add up. I did go for a walk last evening which felt great, although man am I slow.
03/29 – 165 – IF 12 hrs., did not finish tracking. Raining outside so I did exercises while listening to a podcast instead of just sitting. Prepped the trim I need to paint – thought I would get it painted but my chatty granddaughter phoned. Happy to have the talk with her and likely better to give the arm a break after all the sanding.

LOTS of phone calls … even from people we haven’t heard from in ages - I think they are bored. Of course our kids want to check in on us as well. So this is all great but after while I let DH answer cause I was not going to get finished otherwise. More prep to do today. Started doing exercises in the evening if I’m watching Youtube.

70 year old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion... ...Oh, well. I'll just keep working on it.
We used to walk 5 miles a day. A pinched nerve and back surgery side-lined me for about a year. Then I had back surgery. Then I had hip surgery March 10th. Recovery is slow. Sure do want to be back walking!
The Shelter in Place has everyone freaked. We need to remain calm and respectful of each other.

@twistedsassette – You’ll get used to it – My one son had a bruise on his forehead most of the time till he was about 3. He grew up to be a great worker – always doing stuff.
@tiabirdie56 I watched an interesting video by a couple of environmental biology professors that I've somewhat followed for other reasons. They explained that viruses have a surface that is a layer of fat and once this fat is broken down they disintegrate - that is why they are susceptible to heat, detergents and friction but can live for months in your freezer. (I don't think that drinking hot things will help a great deal though since your body quickly brings things to its own internal temperature which the virus is quite happy with.) LOL Even before I began putting on lots of weight, I always loved the winter... especially the snow. As long as we got less than 8 inches, I would take my dogs for long hikes (usually 8+ miles) around a very large pond near my home. After a snowfall, it's usually very quiet and peaceful. And with no people around, I never had to worry about them being off-leash. Part of my long-term goals are to lose the weight so I can do those hikes again.5 -

I’m absolutely in! This will be my first round so bear with me. Also, feel free to add me, can never have too many motivational connections 💪🏼.
Today was a really hard day emotionally, and I am a stress/emotional eater. This week will be even harder yet and we have a fridge full of leftovers to eat. Goal for this cycle is going to be portion control and finding moments of peace in the stress. Trying to pep talk myself to do some self-pampering, a workout, a meditation, and tackle the day.

3/29: 155.6lbs (-2.2lb!) Talked myself into doing another workout dvd this morning deapite how sick and terrible I felt after doing yesterdays. I’m so glad I did! Muscles feel so sore, but the good kind of accomplished sore. I am an ICU nurse and am on-call for our coronavirus unit overnight tonight, tomorrow night, and tue night so my schedule is a little flip-flopped.
3/30: 157.8lbs (+2.2lb) Goes to show how short lived successes can be sometimes I suppose haha. I know weight fluctuates a lot in a week which is why I’ve never really been a fan of weighing myself daily. I end up obsessing over the smallest differences.
3/31: I did not weigh myself or do a workout today. I did, however, get called in to work on our coronavirus unit in the ICU last night and according to my fit bit I had walked almost 3mi just between midnight and 7am! Not a true workout but between that and moving patients I suppose I’ll give myself some credit. So far I am below my calorie goal for the day (its 9pm), just have to not sit here and snack while waiting for work to call tonight.
4/1: Well guys. Today was bad. I did not get called in to work last night which was nice, however I did get an e-mail from my school that they’re cancelling my capstone courses for the summer semester which were the only two classes I had left to finish my master’s degree. So I will not be able to finish my degree until this whole Covid thing blows over and I can re-register 😔. Got that e-mail around 3am and since I wasnt going in to work I decided to have some wine and watch netflix to relax before sleeping for the day. Managed to get all my supplies at the supermarket yesterday, only had to queue for 15 minutes to gain access, no hardship at all in the great scheme of things. Keep washing our hands !!

03/29 – 155.6 (+1.0) Yesterday was a depressing day so I think I’m going to put it behind me and aim for a better day today. I’m aiming for 10.000 steps and 30 mins cardio on the stationary bike, maybe a run around the block with my daughter this afternoon which is the most we’re allowed to do here.

I didn’t get a high cardio workout but I did a 3-mile walk (from you tube) and later that day I did a “parkour” run in my apartment, I’ll be doing it again later and try to get my daughter involved! I’m avoiding any high impact workout as I have had to stop all immunotherapy treatments for my RA as I was sick, so my joints are a bit achy. I’ve done a daily schedule of things to do but I’m finding it a bit hard to follow lol

Today was a really hard day emotionally, and I am a stress/emotional eater. This week will be even harder yet and we have a fridge full of leftovers to eat. Goal for this cycle is going to be portion control and finding moments of peace in the stress. Trying to pep talk myself to do some self-pampering, a workout, a meditation, and tackle the day.

Muscles feel so sore, but the good kind of accomplished sore. I am an ICU nurse and am on-call for our coronavirus unit overnight tonight, tomorrow night, and tue night so my schedule is a little flip-flopped.
3/30: 157.8lbs (+2.2lb) Goes to show how short lived successes can be sometimes I suppose haha. I know weight fluctuates a lot in a week which is why I’ve never really been a fan of weighing myself daily. I end up obsessing over the smallest differences.
3/31: I did not weigh myself or do a workout today. I did, however, get called in to work on our coronavirus unit in the ICU last night and according to my fit bit I had walked almost 3mi just between midnight and 7am! Not a true workout but between that and moving patients I suppose I’ll give myself some credit. So far I am below my calorie goal for the day (its 9pm), just have to not sit here and snack while waiting for work to call tonight.

I did not get called in to work last night which was nice, however I did get an e-mail from my school that they’re cancelling my capstone courses for the summer semester which were the only two classes I had left to finish my master’s degree. So I will not be able to finish my degree until this whole Covid thing blows over and I can re-register 😔. Got that e-mail around 3am and since I wasnt going in to work I decided to have some wine and watch netflix to relax before sleeping for the day. Life has been throwing one obstacle after the next at me, but there’s nothing I can do about that. I can only control my own actions and responses. 03/31 - Bit of a long update since I've been absent: Not pretty numbers. Between the quarantine (shelter in place in both work and home cities), unpacking/getting settled in, and working from home (hello, kitchen and BF who can cook amazingly), this is what I get. Started a garden as a reason to get outside at least once a day (though sometimes I take a break just to go stand on the porch). Rain/storms Thursday-next week which puts a damper on the walking trails idea we had for this weekend. BF works from home (all the time, not just quarantine) so he always is looking for ways to get out of the house and now I understand why. I miss the freedom to just go get fresh air and sunshine without concern of the virus. Bought salads for "work lunch" to try to get some veggies in. Steaks last night with homemade mashed potatoes and garlic asparagus (I was in charge of sides). Hopefully soon my order of imperfect produce will come in and I can start incorporating more fruits and veggies in. Will have to since I'm paying for them and BF requested I did it, despite him not being the biggest veggie person. He told me to get it, so he gets to deal with it haha He wants to lose weight as well now that he's on the computer at home all day. Once things calm down, he's going to fix up our friend's extra bike and go riding with him. I'll go on walks and do some at home stuff when I'm able to. My schedule will be tough. It's a 1.5hr drive with no traffic. With traffic its around 2hrs. I shouldn't hit traffic going to work, but will leaving work to come home. So 13-14.5hrs gone. Will have just enough time to eat dinner, shower, and pass out with 6hrs sleep. 7hrs if food is already done when I get home. Fridays and weekends I will be free to do whatever I want/need to, though, so I'll be working on making up for my workweek. Also going to try to do lunch walks at work just to get out of the office and get movement in if I have a quiet computer-based or meeting-based day. Any advice y'all have, I'll gladly take. Especially since I haven't been doing my IF (skipping breakfast) lately since BF cooks for us and I've had a rumbling belly by 8am. Once I'm working at the plant, I'll get back to that but until then, I need to figure something out. No idea how long I'll be at home, but the orders for San Antonio are valid until the 9th unless its extended. Now time to catch up on everybody's posts!
04/01 - Think my scale is playing an April's Fools joke 'cause I swore I'd be over 150 today. Had rice with gravy last night as part of dinner and probably had too much. Apparently my salad at lunch evened me out. Salad for today and tomorrow as well and I believe salad with dinner (pot luck style with our family here in TX - BF and I in charge of mac&cheese which will be my downfall). Going to try to do mini workouts throughout the day (squats, lunges, hip thrusts, etc) when I need a break from the computer. Hopefully this number will continue to drop, especially now that I'm back with y'all and posting. If nothing else, its like having a voice in my head telling me I'll be accountable to everyone here and it works!
