After much waiting, my new shoes arrived today:

And an hour later these shoes show up:

Ohhh pretty! Love the first one!

    Here is mine!

Did my 16k run this morning. Went along the foreshore which was fantastic! It was great to start, but the last couple of Kms it was PACKED! So many people out. Including large groups of friends. I was starting to get peeved because yeah we are allowed to range a bit further from home, but are supposed to still keep distance from people and still keep to our home bubbles.

I just hope that we don't get a second wave.

As far as the run went, it was great. 16k feels about what a 8-10k felt like a few weeks ago. I love it when training pays off.

I'm still a little sore from yesterdays fall. Just a bit of bruising in my knee and left hip fortunately. But yesterday at work, omg my poor hands. I wash my hands between every patient, using alcohol rub of soap and water. Frequently the alcohol rub is quickest. Just think, alcohol and scraped hands....

Completed my first 6.2 miles of my race across Tennessee. Ran the first 3.8 (outside! Yay) and walked the rest. It’s May Day here, which is a big holiday and saw lots of non-distancing groups and questionable beverage and food service. It was quite disconcerting.

@Avidkeo ow for your poor hands! I’m surprised there were so many people out. My in laws live in NZ and they said everyone’s been pretty compliant, but that people started lining up at McDonalds hours before it opened.

Wow, one day late and we’ve got crazy run challenges @katharmonic, more shoe porn @contrarymarymary and an injury already @avidkeo! It is never dull on these boards! 😉

So for me this month I’m with @loveychar and I’m going to drop my mileage right down as I want to do strength/circuit training every other day, and chuck a bit more yoga in there too. So a 60 mile goal and I’ve just done my first 4 miles of it this morning in beautiful sunshine!

    May goal: 60 miles
    May total: 4.2 miles

    2/5: 4.2 miles

    April: 115 m
    March: 76.4 m
    February: 17.8 m
    January: 0

@katharmonic  The 4 x 4 x 48 sounds really intense! Will you also get up in the middle of the night to run? I think already 24h of that would be crazy tough, but 48...!

@Avidkeo and @ContraryMaryMary nice shoe pictures :p I just realised I want need new shoes too

5km/100km done. With 5x20s strides in the middle of the run.
I haven't done any real speedwork lately, I'll start incorporating that a bit more this month, I think.
And I need to find a hill for hill repeats! I moved to a new place a few month ago, and everything here is flat. :| I spent a while browsing lists of Strava segments, but didn't find any nice hill nearby. I will have to widen my search radius.

Almost forgot to tell you I ordered new shoes today. I ordered the Brooks Launch 6. It's the old style, so they were on sale. Only $65. My current shoes are Brooks Adrenaline GTS. I got them because I had some overpronation, but when I did the test for that today, I don't seem to have it anymore. Is it possible to correct that sort of thing? We'll see. The good thing about Brooks is that you get 90 days to return them. They predict that I will get them next week.

I ordered the exact same shoes 2 weeks ago. I got an email this past Monday that the ones I ordered were out, and they gave me a 25% off code, so I ordered them again in a different color. They still haven’t shipped.

Of course, my husband received his in 4 days, and he doesn’t even really like to run; he just needed some new shoes.

Hopefully, both of us will get them next week!

@katharmonic Good luck with your 4x4x48!

Hubby was starving last night, so I only had a 20 minute window to run before dinner. 1.75 miles. Maybe I will go to the park to run today.

    5/1: 1.75

    1.75/50

It's official... Hal wants to kill me.
The heading today was 'Race or simulation 5k'. Ok, that sounds reasonable. Hal says: 'today, you run hard.' Yes sir.
Workout description: 1.5km warm up, 4x 100m hard, 100m easy. 5 miles at 5k race pace. 1km cool down.
    Hang on. 5 MILES???
I did it. On the treadmill. My brain screamed the entire time. My legs screamed most of the second half. But I did it. May not be able to walk tomorrow. I'm starting to miss the evil physio.
Garmeen the drama queen reckons I need 72 hours to recover. For once I don't think she's exaggerating. She also said (I know, not all that accurate on the treadmill) I set 3 PRs: fastest mile, fastest 5k and fastest 10k.
If that doesn't make me deserve pizza, nothing does!
    And a nap!
I decided to wait until Monday to go outside to run. Hopefully there won't be as many Covidiots out there then, this morning the crowds are crazy apparently.

02/05: 11.3km race pace (+ warm up, cool down)
May goal: 140km. Run so far: 11.3km

Geeze I think Hal is going to turn you into our fastest bestest runner!

HA! Umm nope, my fastest bestest with PRs included is still slower than most peoples' warm-ups. But I do think (hope?!) that when I finally get outside I'll be in better shape and/or quicker than I was. All of this has definitely been good, I hadn't realised just how much of a rut I was stuck in, always doing the same runs along the same routes at the same speeds, basically repeating the same 12 week training cycle over and over. Changing it up has been great (even if I do still HATE the dreadmill).
Having said that, I might just carry on using it for my speedwork until the local track opens again, it has the benefit of not allowing my legs to slow down even when they want to (amazing what the threat of flying backwards into a wall does) and if probably much safer to do fast intervals and stuff on than sidewalks with roads to cross.

Good luck with that @katharmonic ! You're doing great so far. Can't wait to read the rest of your running thoughts.

Love the shoe porn @ContraryMaryMary and @Avidkeo .

@Avidkeo Great run. Hugs regarding your hands. It makes me cringe just to think about it.

@eleanorhawkins Way to hang in there and get it done!!! I'm sure Hal was proud!

@marisap2010 Yes! I hope we get them next week! They said they only had one pair left of what I ordered. Hopefully no one beat me to them.

Welcome @mari_moulin and anyone else I missed.
