Almost forgot to tell you I ordered new shoes today. I ordered the Brooks Launch 6. It's the old style, so they were on sale. Only $65. My current shoes are Brooks Adrenaline GTS. I got them because I had some overpronation, but when I did the test for that today, I don't seem to have it anymore. Is it possible to correct that sort of thing? We'll see. The good thing about Brooks is that you get 90 days to return them. They predict that I will get them next week.

I ordered the exact same shoes 2 weeks ago. I got an email this past Monday that the ones I ordered were out, and they gave me a 25% off code, so I ordered them again in a different color. They still haven’t shipped.

Of course, my husband received his in 4 days, and he doesn’t even really like to run; he just needed some new shoes.

Hopefully, both of us will get them next week!

@katharmonic Good luck with your 4x4x48!

Hubby was starving last night, so I only had a 20 minute window to run before dinner. 1.75 miles. Maybe I will go to the park to run today.

    5/1: 1.75

    1.75/50

It's official... Hal wants to kill me.
The heading today was 'Race or simulation 5k'. Ok, that sounds reasonable. Hal says: 'today, you run hard.' Yes sir.
Workout description: 1.5km warm up, 4x 100m hard, 100m easy. 5 miles at 5k race pace. 1km cool down.
    Hang on. 5 MILES???
I did it. On the treadmill. My brain screamed the entire time. My legs screamed most of the second half. But I did it. May not be able to walk tomorrow. I'm starting to miss the evil physio.
Garmeen the drama queen reckons I need 72 hours to recover. For once I don't think she's exaggerating. She also said (I know, not all that accurate on the treadmill) I set 3 PRs: fastest mile, fastest 5k and fastest 10k.
If that doesn't make me deserve pizza, nothing does!
    And a nap!
I decided to wait until Monday to go outside to run. Hopefully there won't be as many Covidiots out there then, this morning the crowds are crazy apparently.

02/05: 11.3km race pace (+ warm up, cool down)
May goal: 140km. Run so far: 11.3km

Geeze I think Hal is going to turn you into our fastest bestest runner!

HA! Umm nope, my fastest bestest with PRs included is still slower than most peoples' warm-ups. But I do think (hope?!) that when I finally get outside I'll be in better shape and/or quicker than I was. All of this has definitely been good, I hadn't realised just how much of a rut I was stuck in, always doing the same runs along the same routes at the same speeds, basically repeating the same 12 week training cycle over and over. Changing it up has been great (even if I do still HATE the dreadmill).
Having said that, I might just carry on using it for my speedwork until the local track opens again, it has the benefit of not allowing my legs to slow down even when they want to (amazing what the threat of flying backwards into a wall does) and if probably much safer to do fast intervals and stuff on than sidewalks with roads to cross.

Good luck with that @katharmonic ! You're doing great so far. Can't wait to read the rest of your running thoughts.

Love the shoe porn @ContraryMaryMary and @Avidkeo .

@Avidkeo Great run. Hugs regarding your hands. It makes me cringe just to think about it.

@eleanorhawkins Way to hang in there and get it done!!! I'm sure Hal was proud!

@marisap2010 Yes! I hope we get them next week! They said they only had one pair left of what I ordered. Hopefully no one beat me to them.

Welcome @mari_moulin and anyone else I missed.

@quilteryoyo I hope you do too, I try other brands and models, but always come back to them. My first pair were Launch 3s I think.

@katharmonic a lot of my friends have been doing similar challenges, good luck! Loving your update – go go!

@ContraryMaryMary awesome shoes, but the think the orange ones will be a *kitten* trail run in. Skip wears the NB and LOVES them.

    @Avidkeo pretty!! Love the color

    @mari_moulin welcome!

I’m in, no mileage goal again this month, my primary goal is to keep running regularly and avoid catching covid. Parks are opening on Monday but I will not be returning to them since they were way too crowded before they were closed. I’m hoping that with the reopening of the economy I will be able to continue running on the streets, which has only been feasible because of reduced traffic. No parks plus no streets would make my running life difficult!

Secondary goals are to do respectably in the final two races of the Run the 901 virtual race series, and to continue doing 8 mile long runs. On which subject, my last 8 mile run made my knee sore, so we are taking a trail walk today instead of running. I kind of suspect I’ve had a torn meniscus since the trail series this winter. It gets aggravated deep in the joint if I do much involving torque on that knee, and it pops when I straighten it fully. The meniscus in that knee (this is my ‘good’ knee as opposed to the one with no ACL and a baker’s cyst) has always “looked weird” (this is a quote from the Ortho) and I’m thinking this is a development of that. Certainly not going to the doctor for it at the moment (statistics on covid in our area show 45% was acquired in a healthcare setting), and in the past a couple of days off has settled it, so hopefully that will continue to be true.

@Avidkeo Ouch! I still have new-looking patches of skin from when I did the same thing a couple weeks ago. Hope you heal quickly!

I’m going to shoot for 30 miles for the month of May. Thanks for this forum and support.

    Good Luck! 😉

May 2: 5 miles (speed walking for 2, casual walking for 3)

Has anyone else lost track of all the virtual races out there? I know I've signed up for a few and completely forgot about them! Not sure why I bothered since I have a plan and I'm sticking to it, and most virtual runs are things that don't fit into my plan. Probably a bit of "oh that looks like fun" with "I don't want to miss out" haha.

Today, it's wet, windy and awful and im a little bumbed that I'm not running. I'm starting to look for the bad weather to run in for training lol. Oh well. I'm going to go for a good walk, then do a strength session. Probably a good thing, cause I was TIRED after yesterdays run. Doing a long run in the morning, then working 3pm - 11pm isn't the most pleasant. Fortunately that only happens every 9 weeks lol.
