I did a stress test for my heart once that was basically hill repeats on the dreadmill where every hill got much worse! The nurse was like "Anit no one ever made it 17 minutes" or something, so I was like "CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!"
The last hill I had to hold the rails to keep from falling off the back of the dreadmill. It was a greater slope than I could have stood still on, but I DID IT. I stopped at 17:0110 -

Cloudy and high 60s F today, with a little light rain to help evaporative cooling. Lower back was stiff and that never makes for a good beginning, although it did eventually loosen up.
Beans have begun to sprout.

Today's workout was hill repeats. Good lord, that was a long hill. About 1 mile from bottom to top, along a golf course, with various grades of steep along the way. The hardest part is right at the top of course. We did the hill 3 times up and down. Thank goodness it's a bit cooler today but the humidity is still bad. The forecast is for thunderstorms tomorrow and then a big cool-down for the weekend. Which will be great, because I'm thinking of running a HM distance on Saturday.6 -

@janejellyroll under my training log in Strava I can see my weekly runs for the whole month, but not a total.

@skippygirlsmom Once you've on the training calendar, if you click into the particular month it will show you how many miles you've run (at least it does for me).1

It was another beautiful run this morning. It was a little humid, but cool and really pleasant. I ran 6.5 miles. It was still a little dark when I headed out, but the sun was up for most of the run. It was a good but uneventful run. I'm well over my goal for May and thanks to @Tramboman our RTY team got our 1100 mile bib this morning so we are over halfway to our 2020 mile goal.
I actually stopped to take a couple of pictures of the sunrise. Although they never do it justice.
I still had my Garmin for the run. I haven't shipped it off yet. The instructions were to get a tracking number when I shipped it, but I live in the middle of nowhere and there is no UPS store near me, just a drop off location. So they told me to contact Garmin to get a pre-printed label. Yesterday when I contacted them I used the "chat" function but today it wasn't available and I had to email them. The automatic response says they will respond in the next 3-5 days. If I don't hear from them this afternoon I will probably just call. I hate to have to be without it, but I'd just as soon get it sent off so I can get it back. I'm planning to just track my runs with Strava while I'm waiting. I guess I need to check and see if I can get the info from Strava to RTY. I think you can manually add stuff to RTY though.

I finally got to do a hill repeats workout today. I thought I would be doing it on the treadmill because mom and dad were going to come help me saw up some trees that had fallen beside of my driveway. They did come up and we got the biggest one partially cut up when the chain flew off of the bar. You have to wait until it cools down to put it back on. We had the worst part done, so decided to wait until it's cooler one day next week to finish.
It was hot already (well, 77°F and partly cloudy), but decided to do the run on my driveway. The hill I chose to run up was 0.04 miles long/short. It was the perfect distance as it took me almost exactly 30 seconds to sprint up. The plan I did called for 10 minutes easy run, 6 x (30 sec hard effort uphill/90 sec easy), followed by 5 minutes easy pace. I did a little extra to reach 2.25 miles. I also walked for a mile.
This hill repeat was sort of fun. It showed me that I can run up this hill at a good pace - best pace was 9:31/mile. But, 6 times was plenty. I think had I had to do a 7th, it would have been much slower.

I had to go to town today to ship some work-related items at the UPS store which opened at 8:00 am so I met a friend at 6:00 am and got a 7-mile run in, gassed up the car, went to the grocery store and Starbucks. No spectacular views on the run – just city streets but the smells of various plants in bloom was heavenly!
@Scott6255 – great news about your aunt! Will she be able to return to the nursing home now?

@bearly63 – great job surpassing that goal! I can’t imagine doing speed work on trails. My main goal is to not trip on roots, rocks and ruts and to stay upright!

@eleanorhawkins – great hill workout! Our governor has declared that all residents must wear masks starting tomorrow while inside “brick and mortar retail establishments,” public transportation or indoor space shared by groups of people. The way people are complaining you would think he has asked them to wear handcuffs and shackles. Unlike Spain, however, the police will not be enforcing this regulation…

Nooo poo dang it. That's so frustrating. Got no real use for strava now really, and I don't care enough about the social stuff to pay for it.

6.3 sweaty humid slow miles today. I decided to do run walk intervals. Each mile was negative split - except the last one which was mostly walking lol. It was only 71F but 96% humidity.
We too have had rain for days and more tomorrow. I really am hoping for rain free weekend as well @janejellyroll !
All these hill repeats! Great work everyone! I haven't don't structured ones lately, as there are hills on ever route here. Might start - next week.
@PastorVincent I have had the same experience on my stress tests - all the more remarkable the docs/techs tell me as I DO have heart disease and one completely blocked artery still.
@kgirlhart very frustrating - I too would be lost without my Garmin.

@hamsterwheel6 Really surprised that you have a completely blocked artery and they are doing nothing. But, on the bright side, it is likely that the heart has grown another artery around the block. That happens often, I hear. When dad had open heart surgery, they said he had started growing a new one, it just hadn't finished yet. I think the body is a very amazing machine.3

Yep this is exactly what happens. They are called collaterals. I was in angio yesterday (operating the machine, not me personally) and they are really neat to see1
