With both of my planned races cancelled this spring, I've cut way back on coached workouts during May as an early "mid season" break. This gave me more free time to spend with my son, who spent a month living with us before heading to his summer job. We got to do some fishing and turkey hunting together which was a lot of fun.
I'm now doing more cycling and running to ramp up again. I just hope I remember how to put on my wetsuit and swim.
Wow when this thread was first started in 2012 I was just turning 40. Now I'm 48 so inching toward the end of this decade. This is the decade where I gained a ton of weight, lost a bunch, and got fit - again. Rediscovered a love of running during this crazy stay at home time. I ran a virtual 5K to recognize Memorial Day and now I am trying to set new goals. Not sure where to go from here but I hope to be in great health mentally and physically by my 50th.
I resumed training with my coach on June 1st, so this is a "testing week" to check my fitness and set my training zones for the next 8 week block. Two run tests and two bike tests scheduled. Did the 5k run test yesterday and a 20minute FTP bike test today, and they both hurt, lol. Next up is a 10k run test on Friday, and a final bike power test on Sunday. Then I am done!
I started a calorie-restriction diet on Wednesday. I do not have a scale at home, so I will work with my tape measure....I realized twelve weeks has passed in the Pandemic and I have not lost the inches that I wanted to. I will restrict calories for the next twelve weeks to push the inches into a downward trajectory. BOOM!

I am switching up my workout cadence:
Day 1 - heavy weights
Day 2 - cardio step
Day 3 - yoga
Day 4 - cardio step
...repeat 4-day cycle, walk outside when I can, and take rest days when I am feeling unmotivated.
