    Thank you ladies
    I know i have to learn to not be a doormat..
    I am a total different bird than my brother
    And I know for a fact that i hate confrontation
    He just spews and then apologizes ,but keeps it up..
    I have been off my meds for a few days so I have to get back on them..

    If they are anti-depressants, you have to stay on them. It is not good to go off them and go back on them again.

    If you've been on them a while, your body will react very badly if you just go off them. Worse than before.

    Then, when you go on them again, your body goes through another adjustment period where you'll feel really rough for a week or so.

    It's not worth it going off them and on them and off them and on them. Once you're on them and have worked with a doctor to get them to a comfortable level, the only way you should go off them is with a doctor's supervision ... going off gradually.

    :)Allie, It concerns me that you have had a series of emotionally abusive people in your life. First your husband and it took you years to decide that you'd be better off without him, then the dentist that you worked for and it took years to decide that you'd be better off without him, and now your brother who has treated you badly for as long as I've known you. It's time to take some personal inventory on what part you play in all this.

    I went off mine accidentally a couple months ago ... within 3 days I was a mess. It doesn't take long to feel the negative effects. Often I'll notice if I miss one ... that time I was very busy and distracted with other things so I figured I was feeling "off" because of that.

    Hello Ladies! ...I've been reading to keep up ... haven't had much to say.

    Hugs and prayers ... to those who need them ... Janetr, Luci come to mind first, but when I read I'm praying for all of you with concerns.

    Allie ... Allie, Allie, Allie ... never just stop psych meds. If you don't like them or don't think they're helping, then call your practitioner.

    Machka ... loved the mask list.

    Rebecca ... I hope you've had your call with Owain!

    Lisa ... your comments about food were spot on.

    We are finally addressing projects around our home that have gotten beyond our ability to take care of by ourselves. A new pool fence is being installed and the gardens within the pool area will be redone by a young landscaper hungry for business. Lifts my spirits to see things being taken care of properly.

    SuziQ ~ I saw your poblanos on the Community Recipe page this morning and wondered what you had stuffed. Glad you showed it here and told us. I am completely lost if the food isn't Good Old South Georgia. I have learned so much from looking at the Recipe page.

    Also, sorry about the fromica furniture having no new home. I wonder if you could put it on Craigslist.

    Karen & Others ~ Good advice for Allie's situation.

    Sharon ~ Good wishes for your daughter's recovery.

    Facebook: I go there every day to see what's going on, but recently, I deleted almost all of my friends hoping to stop getting all those messages about "People You Might Know." I immediately regretted it because I didn't realize that if you delete a person, you can no longer see their page.

    Good Morning from middle eastern Arizona. 51 premenopausal ugh and struggling. Hormones are trying to kick my booty but I am trying not to let them! I Crossfit, I hike and I try to have one meal a day. lol, my biggest issue is that I like to eat and drink and I do most of the cooking! Hubby is very helpful and after 30 years still here for me! I am not new here but have a renewed drive to succeed and be healthier. I am finally under 140 for the first time in years! I bought some cool biker chic tops (hubby has a motorcycle) I hope they fit! Well, I guess that's my intro.

    Take care and keep on keeping on!

    Getting my vegan recipe spaghetti dinner ready. It’s something my late Aunt would make,but with more diet conscious choices hers would be fattening by the time she was done ✅.

    1 serving pasta sauce per 4 servings of pasta to lightly coat not smoother.
    Pasta 1 serving
    Sweet peas boil then toss to be stir fried in a frying pan of water y Pam cooking spray with the onion,sliced into noodles zucchini (using a Spanish type can use any tho),carrot shavings 🪒 with my veggie peeler.
    Fresh cherry tomatoes for the side

    That’s it the noodles bump up the calories automatically to 200cal y 90cal for my Prego garlic 🧄 sauce but add the low cal veggies your day after a plate for 2 meals leaves a 300-400cal budget for drinks y snack. (1200cal my daily plan) . Drinking low cal crystal light tea with it so more cal for snack time this evening before bed.

    Lisa - I had forgotten to comment on your take on food. And, yes, anything can be a drug. So glad you have mended your relationship to it.

    I have learned to tell myself there is no bad food - my management of it can be good or bad. I also look at it as being either nutritionally dense or not and calorie dense or not. I was a Weight Watcher for a long time and I want to be able to enjoy a piece of cake from time-to-time and not feel "bad" because I ate a piece. For me it will always be a work in progress. I do know making sure I log the good, the bad, and the ugly every day seems to work for me. I also weigh myself every day - it helps me keep my awareness of the effects of my decisions.

    I know these tactics do not work for everyone. Some feel getting on the scale as demoralizing and/or having to track everything they eat tedious.

    There are those who eat to live and those who live to eat. I am of the former so will always have to be aware of my intake. The wonderful thing is I can and do have the ability to increase my movement so if I want 2 darn pieces of cake I can! LOL!

    I've been watching 'Carousel' online while I was rowing and then while I was preparing the cauliflower cheese and asparagus soup. (I used up the asparagus stalks, Michele) I've got bluetooth earbuds.
    I had a good cry. :p When I went to see it on the stage in the 90s I was crying as soon as the overture started! My mum took me to see the film when it came out in 1956 and pre warned me that the hero would die and be in heaven. She was in the stage show when I was a teenager, so I know the music well.
    We played You'll Never Walk Alone at my mum's funeral. We often sing That Was A Real Nice Clambake at our singing group.

    SuziQ - I think I eat a cross between a rich Parisian, a Greek fisherman and an Indian farmer. :D Tonight's dish is traditional British.

    No one used to pogo?

    :) My approach to food is to not use it for recreation or entertainment. What my eating looks like is that I eat a lot of the same things again and again, I don't cook as a hobby, I don't meet friends at restaurants, when I eat at a restaurant with my husband I order the same thing every time, I don't get snacks to accompany me at special events, I don't eat at potlucks or parties, my husband knows to bring me a non-food item as a treat. I eat simple foods at regular times of the day. This won't work for everyone, but it has helped me lose 50 pounds and keep it off for years.

    Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie - My sister lives 1600 miles away from me. It's a very helpless feeling. I have a very large family and they all take care of each other.

    However, I feel completely useless. The only contribution from me is to send money. My mister is an only child. Yesterday he mentioned how he was responsible for everything for his parents and how different it is that I am not needed for anything for mine. The feeling is not better....just the opposite side of the coin. It's difficult to not be needed.

    As for my sister's health, it's hard to say. It's been 5 days and as of Saturday, one side of her face was still droopy (we do video chats). She seems to still have paralysis on her right side, though she was able to help get herself into a chair today. She can talk, sort of. I was unable to understand her, but others say they can when they are near her. She is expected to move to in patient rehab in a day or so. It's unclear how long she will be there, but she won't be able to have visitors. That will be very difficult. They are forging ahead with a theory of cranial amyloid angiopathy (CAA) causing it, though I have my doubts. I think it's more likely because she wasn't taking her blood pressure meds.

    So many of us have hardships right now, both physical and emotional. My virtual hugs go out to all.

    On a positive note, my hip issues seems to be much improved. We did a 4.5 mile hike yesterday without issue. It's had little elevation change, but the distance was more than I've done in several weeks.

    Restaurants are opening up here with reservation only and at limited capacity. We will not be dining out for at least another week and I'm not even sure then. The way they have to do it just doesn't seem all that pleasant. Plus, we like to sit at the bar and I am not sure if they can have bar seating right now where we like to go. But that's OK. We are saving money.

    My eating has been terrible lately. I feel the need to eat a lot of comfort food. Fortunately, I don't buy a lot of that stuff, so I can't eat it. However, I will likely have to make myself some pasta soon. I have managed to gain a pound or 3 in the past couple of weeks. I don't want to let it get out of control.

    Have a great week.

    I am not brought food as a treat typically. My mister buys me kitchen gadgets when he wants to treat me. The last one was a nice wood cutting board. I do buy him food for treats. Mostly chocolate, but food is not a problem for him. He eats to live, though loves his beer. He also works out like a maniac to compensate.

    Heather: I had a pogo stick when I was young. It was all the rage for a while here. I was quite good on it. Never could manage a hula hoop for long though!!! 😂

    My uncle worked in the local Tri-ange toy factory, so we got lots of reject toys cheap.

    Katla: Facebook is constantly updating, and is now owned by Google. If you are going in regularly the changes wouldn't be noticeable, as they have happened gradually.

    Actually, Facebook is not owned by Google. Zuckerberg still owns nearly 58% and is by far the largest shareholder. https://www.investopedia.com/articles/insights/082216/top-9-shareholders-facebook-fb.asp. Of course mergers and acquisitions news changes often and perhaps I missed something.

    I don't use my computer for logging into FB often. I use my phone and it seems mostly the same. I just keep it to stay in touch with family and friends mostly. Right now there is so much politically charged stuff that I haven't been logging in.

    Did the Bristol statue toppling get onto your news? The statue of Edward Colston was toppled from its plinth and thrown into the river. He was a slave trader who has halls and streets named after him all over the city. I was at university in Bristol 67-70 and hardly heard anything about the slave trade, which was of huge importance to the wealth of the city. I don't condone violence, but the statue should have been dealt with years ago. Perhaps made part of an installation, or moved.

    Terri - I loved my hula hoop too. I was at it for hours! When my dad was off to work he would have to lean over to kiss me goodbye without interrupting my hula hooping. Woe betide him if he touched it and ruined my record attempt! My favourite toy was my red metallic scooter I called Flaming Star. But I did have fun on my pogo stick. We also played a lot of hopscotch. A London childhood.

    Karen - for some reason I missed what happened to your dad. Could you bear to repeat it for me. Sorry. <3

    Barbie: I’m like you with food. I’ve eaten the same meals On certain days since the late 1980’s. It helps with planning for shopping trips.

    I eat the same breakfast every morning.

    I have a loose 3 week main meal schedule which stems from when I was a working mother. It used to be a 4 week schedule, but I had to give up eating roast lamb, as it gave me horrendous heartburn.
    DH likes his Sunday roast, and he cooks it while I do veggies; We rotate chicken, pork and beef roasts.
    Mon/Tues I use the roast meat in a casserole or stir fry;
    Wed I do a cold meat Salad Bar;
    Thurs we improvise;
    Fri he does fish( usually salmon) + sides;
    Sat he does venison, burgers, or sausages from our butcher, with sides.

    I use up leftovers for my lunch, or have soup or salad. He makes his own sandwiches.

    Barbara: The vet is someone I trust and rely on for good advice. He says to keep watching for a while and we’ll know when our dog will need surgery. Since we came home the lesion disappeared. Good for now, but we’ll keep watching. We expect it to reappear. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will be a long while before we need to worry again. :heart:

    Heather: Edie looks determined to conquer the pogo stick. If she does, good for her. I never succeeded with a pogo stick. :wink:

    Machka: Your imagined kindergarten behavior seems likely. Here, schools are closed. We hope they will be able to reopen in September. Keeping my fingers crossed. :star: Your many computer screens are amazing. We have three, not counting smart phones. I have a laptop & DH has a desktop and an Ipad. I think that is enough for two retired adults. You are employed in a highly technical capacity and your many computers are necessary for you to work from home. :smiley:

    Terri: Thanks for the information about facebook now being owned by google. It helps me understand why things are different than I expected. :star:

    Allie: Keep us in the loop. I hope that you’re not affected by Lyme disease. Get yourself checked out ASAP. Prompt antibiotic treatment is the best way to protect yourself. Our friend Mary had Lyme disease from a tick bite several years ago. She survived it back then. I don’t remember seeing her post in quite a while. The last I recall they were summering in their home state and wintering in AZ. :star:

    SuziQ: I’m sorry it will be so challenging to get rid of a working piece of furniture that has been cared for well. :ohwell: Perhaps you could advertise it as “Vintage Formica Chest of Drawers. Collector’s item. . .”

    I’ve been shopping and also gone on a walk through our old town area because there are two places in that neighborhood that will be on our Planning Committee meeting this week. My shopping trip provided me some needed food items and a lovely little geranium that is now in a hanging basket beside our kitchen window.

    Rebecca: Your Writing area is much tidier than mine 😂
    The photograph on my wall is with my father at my graduation in 1980. The pen and ink sketch is one I did from a photo of my daughters as part of my final exhibition. The photgraph is one I did a few years ago.
    (My degree was in education, and I majored in Maths and Art. Photography, ceramics, and textiles were some of the elements of my degree course.)
