    I am SUPPOSED TO BE in maintenance with a goal weight of 143 pounds and an allowable goal range of 140-150 pounds and an IDEAL goal range of 142 - 148. I fluctuate wildly day-to-day, and try to stay fairly steady month-to-month. I often succeed, and sometimes I am not exactly where I want to be. I will update here once per week and report my ten-day average weight.

    May 23: 2019: 144.3 - At goal; Ultimate final weight and bottom of IDEAL goal range. I was around my lowest average weight on my entire journey. Those were good days. Oddly, this average weight is exactly the same as the day before I left for Roatan and the day I got back. Interesting!

    February 23: Did not weigh; I was on a fabulous dive trip on Roatan off the coast of Honduras. Was near my ideal weight when I left and when I returned; I strive to get back to that weight, and I'd love to go do some warm water diving again.
    March 23: Ten-day average 147.0 - Near the top of IDEAL goal range.
    April 23: Ten-day average 148.5 - Over the top of my IDEAL goal range; almost top of absolute goal range.
    May 23: Ten-day average 148.9 - Still not less than a month ago, but close; Over the top of IDEAL goal range; almost top of absolute goal range. But - daily scale weight is down over 3.5 pounds in the last four days and today's is back inside my ideal range. Not by much, but yay!

    I still don't weigh less than a month ago, but at least it is less than a half pound difference. As mentioned, I'm also at a scale weight inside my ideal goal range, so I can be glad about that. I am up just shy of two pounds from two months ago, about 4.5 pounds from a quarter ago and a year ago - same exact average. I weigh every day and track trends, and yesterday was the first day that the Trendweight app told me my weekly trend was going down again. The projection is pointing in the right direction.

    May 30: 2019: 144.8 - Just a couple pounds over my goal, but still in the middle of my IDEAL goal range.

    February 30: 144.3 OK, there's no such thing as February 30. I was on a fabulous dive trip on Roatan off the coast of Honduras and away from my scale from February 21 through March 2. Either could stand in, but March 2 makes more sense. It's the mathematical equivalent to February 30 in a leap year. Funny thing - my ten day average was exactly the same for both entries. This was near my ideal weight. I strive to get back to that weight, and I'd love to go do some warm water diving again. Close to my goal and in the bottom third of my IDEAL goal range.

    March 30: Ten-day average 146.3 - In the top third of IDEAL goal range.

    April 30: Ten-day average 149.1 - Over the top of my IDEAL goal range; almost top of absolute goal range.

    May 30: Ten-day average 148.9 - Finally! Less than a month ago! I am still just over the top of IDEAL goal range and about just as close to the top of my absolute goal range. As a bonus, 10-day average is exactly the same as a week ago, and scale weight is down almost half a pound since then. My scale went UP six pounds in two days between Sunday and Tuesday because I allowed myself a food fest at a barbecue for Memorial Day. I knew that would go up, and it's coming back fairly well. When will I get back to goal? I hope some time soon. No more feasts any time soon. But there's going to be lots of ripe fruit in the back yard.

    June 6: 2019: 146.0 - Three pounds over my goal, but still near the middle of my IDEAL goal range.


    March 6: Ten-day average 143.7 - In bottom third of IDEAL goal range and bottom half of absolute goal range.

    April 6: Ten-day average 146.3 - In the top third of my IDEAL goal range; in the top half of my absolute goal range.

    May 6: Ten-day average 149.8 - Over the top of my IDEAL goal range; I could almost not be any closer to the top of my absolute goal range without going over.

    June 6: Ten-day average 148.5 - For the second week in a row, I'm down from a month ago. This is great. Now I just need to get that other five pounds that keeps finding me off and be back at goal. Currently I am still over my IDEAL goal range and only 15% below the top of my absolute range; pretty close to that, but going the right direction.

    I am SUPPOSED TO BE in maintenance with a goal weight of 143 pounds and an allowable goal range of 140-150 pounds and an IDEAL goal range of 142 - 148. I fluctuate wildly day-to-day, and try to stay fairly steady month-to-month. I often succeed, and sometimes I am not exactly where I want to be. I will update here once per week and report my ten-day average weight.

    June 13: 2019: Away from the scale: I was rowing my raft down the Middle Fork Salmon River in Idaho. That was an amazing trip. Before I left, my ten-day average weight was 145.4 on June 11 (2.5 pounds over my goal) and on my return 145.2 June 22 (essentially the same weight even though I ate so so SO much food). This is pretty much the middle of my IDEAL goal range. Yay me.


    March 13: Ten-day average 145.1 - In bottom third of IDEAL goal range and bottom half of absolute goal range.

    April 13: Ten-day average 148.4 - In the top third of my IDEAL goal range; in the top half of my absolute goal range.

    May 13: Ten-day average 149.5 - Over the top of my IDEAL goal range; I could almost not be any closer to the top of my absolute goal range without going over.

    June 13: Ten-day average 147.7 - For the third week in a row, I'm down from a month ago. Yay! For the first time, I am also down from two months ago. This is also great. I am actually down almost a pound from last week. I am still over my weight a quarter ago and a year ago. Those were times I was a little above my goal but still right in the middle of my IDEAL goal range.

    Here's some even groovier news: Scale weight is up today from yesterday by a pound, but I'm not phased. It's down 2.2 pounds from three days ago, and all of my trends say I'm losing. By ten-day average, I'm down 1.1 pounds for the month, and that's keen. Today is the first day since April 22 that my trending weight is in my six-pound maintenance range. It's stayed in my larger ten-pound absolute range, but it feels really good to be getting back to my goal weight. Here's the long story:
    I had been in maintenance for about 18 months or so, then when life changed in late February, something must have changed in me, too. I started slowly gaining for March and April. I mostly kept from gaining any more in May, but just was having trouble getting back down to my goal. It was in late April that my trending weight bumped up outside of a six-pound maintenance range I try to stick to. I have a larger (10-pound) range that's my absolute range, and I didn't QUITE bust out of that, at least not my trend. Some daily weights did.

    Around mid-May, I started moderating again and slowly bringing the trend down. It bounced around. You know how that works. I was getting flustered. It's moving down fairly steady again now, and soon I expect to get back to goal. My trend finally got back inside my "ideal maintenance range" today.

    Then there's this:

    I ate some goodies after closing my diary last night. I entered them this morning expecting the numbers to turn red. To my delighted surprise, they did not!

    I got up a few hours before I get up and chugged a couple pints of water because I was SO thirsty. Way lots of salt yesterday. I got up again and had another pint. I kind of expected the scale to be up this morning, especially since I'm dubious of the over three pound loss I had over one day and kept it the next day. So when the scale ONLY bounced back one measly pound, I though, OH YEAH! All my weight TRENDS are still going down, so today the scale doesn't even phase me.


    The number on the scale doesn't even phase me. I had to write that again.

    This is the mental state I was struggling with for a while. I think it really helps to have the trend solidly down, and I think it is. Now I just have to stay motivated to burn off the last little bit and stabilize there. When I have the inevitable bounce up, I need to remember - the trend is back to where it needs to be.

    Now I just need to get off those last few pounds that keeps finding me off and be back at goal. You will be the second to know about it when it happens. I'll tell myself first :wink:
