I will write my weekly update tomorrow. Spoiler: I'm down from a month ago. Anyway, this is in part a thank-you to @MadisonMolly2017 for supportive posts about adjusting my mindset instead of flogging myself about being over my target weight.
I had a moment of insight yesterday that I hope will help me feel better about my goal and where I am relative to it.
I was trying to fix some wind chimes and a cast iron bell. I had to make new sails, and I was looking in my tackle box for some weight. Somehow, the fishing license I bought one year while in grad school was still taped inside. That's not quite 30 years ago, but really close. I only fished one of the three years I was in grad school; I caught some hatchery fish in a reservoir, and it really wasn't very exciting. I focused on other activities. But for some reason I actually looked at the document yesterday. Needs new tape. But it showed my weight. It was two pounds above what I have set as my ultimate goal, and it was smack in the middle of what I now call my maintenance range. Wait. What?
I doubt I was shaving pounds when I got that license, but it's possible I was a hair heavier than it says. A couple years later, I got a drivers license in the state I currently live, and I listed my weight about five pounds heavier. Ten years later, ten pounds heavier. Eight years after that, nine pounds heavier. Seems like it was about a pound a year. I hear that can happen.
I got to my heaviest a couple years after that. I was probably heavier than I listed on the license, but was in denial. My heaviest was another six or seven pounds up from what it said. That was seven years ago when I sort of decided to do something about it. I lost in fits and starts for about four years. I was losing VERY slowly. Then three years ago or so I got serious and got to my initial goal weight in about ten months. Along the way, I decided to lower my goal to what it is now. My original goal all that time was.... One pound more than what I just read on that fishing license. My final goal was a couple pounds below it, but now I think I'm just going to use THAT goal, my weight in grad school, as my ultimate goal weight. I'm keeping my maintenance ranges. The goal still fits.
My hope is that I keep being kind to myself even if that, possibly overzealous, goal I set a while ago remains just out of reach. It's ok.
Sorry this got so long. I just needed to vent and/or celebrate. I hope you have an epiphany too!

Iâm SO happy for you & I want to thank you because I saw myself in what you were writing (and then FINALLY adjusted my goal range)!
You made such KEY insights!
I truly feel being kind to ourselves (which includes eating foods that make us feel great - not sluggish -and exercise that enlivens us), may be the key to maintenance - at least for me. Beating myself up just stresses me & I think can lead to the âforget it; I give upâ eating back up to our previous weights.
So glad to be in this journey with you!

I am SUPPOSED TO BE in maintenance with a goal weight of 143 pounds and an allowable goal range of 140-150 pounds and an IDEAL goal range of 142 - 148. I fluctuate wildly day-to-day, and try to stay fairly steady month-to-month. I often succeed, and sometimes I am not exactly where I want to be. I will update here once per week and report my ten-day average weight.
June 20: 2019: Away from the scale: I was rowing my raft down the Middle Fork Salmon River in Idaho. That was an amazing trip. Before I left, my ten-day average weight was 145.4 on June 11 (2.5 pounds over my goal) and on my return 145.2 June 22 (essentially the same weight even though I ate so so SO much food). This is pretty much the middle of my IDEAL goal range. Yay me.
March 20: Ten-day average 146.6 - In top third of IDEAL goal range and top half of absolute goal range; even close to the top third.
April 20: Ten-day average 148.7 - Over the top of my IDEAL goal range; in the top 10% of my absolute goal range.
May 20: Ten-day average 149.4 - Way over the top of my IDEAL goal range; almost busting over the top of my absolute goal range.
June 20: Ten-day average 146.9 - In top 20% of IDEAL goal range and top third of absolute goal range. But the good news is.... For the fourth week in a row, I'm down from a month ago. Yay! I'm also down from two months ago. I am pretty much exactly the weight I was three months ago. My average weight is down almost a pound from last week. I am still over my weight a year ago, but not by a whole lot. I'll get back there - back to the middle of my IDEAL goal range.

May 27: Ten-day average 149.6 - Way over the top of my IDEAL goal range; almost busting over the top of my absolute goal range. It is 0.2 pounds below my highest weight during the recent gains I was struggling with that started in March and went through May. I was pretty much at or near this max weight all of May.
June 27: Ten-day average 146.3 - In top third of IDEAL goal range and top 40% of absolute goal range. Good news is.... For the fifth week in a row, I'm down from a month ago. Yay! I'm also down from two months ago. I am pretty much exactly the weight I was three months ago. My average weight is down just over half a pound from last week. I am still over my weight a year ago, but not by a whole lot. I'll get back there - back to the middle of my IDEAL goal range.
The TrendWeight app says I'm back to where I was about April 7, which is a week earlier than it told me last week, and that I'm still losing at a reasonable rate that should put me splat on target in a little over a month if I keep doing what I'm doing.
I had my annual physical exam this week. My doctor told me I am one of his healthiest patients my age, and he has a LOT of patients my age.

June 3: Ten-day average 149.3 - In top third of IDEAL goal range and top 40% of absolute goal range. Good news is.... For the fifth week in a row, I'm down from a month ago. Yay! I am SUPPOSED TO BE in maintenance with a goal weight of 143 pounds and an allowable goal range of 140-150 pounds and an IDEAL goal range of 142 - 148. I fluctuate wildly day-to-day, and try to stay fairly steady month-to-month. I often succeed, and sometimes I am not exactly where I want to be. I will update here once per week and report my ten-day average weight.
July 3: Ten-day average 146.5 - In top third of IDEAL goal range and top 40% of absolute goal range. Up 0.2 from a week ago, but down three pounds from one month ago and two months ago, up less than half a pound from a quarter ago, and up less than a half a pound from a year ago.
June 3: Ten-day average 149.3 - In top third of IDEAL goal range and top 40% of absolute goal range. Good news is.... For the fifth week in a row, I'm down from a month ago. Yay! I'm also down from two months ago. I am pretty much exactly the weight I was three months ago. My average weight is down just over half a pound from last week. I am still over my weight a year ago, but not by a whole lot. I'll get back there - back to the middle of my IDEAL goal range.
May 3: Ten-day average 149.7 - Way over the top of my IDEAL goal range; almost busting over the top of my absolute goal range. It is 0.2 pounds below my highest weight during the recent gains I was struggling with that started in March and went through May. I was pretty much at or near this max weight all of May.
April 3: Ten-day average 146.1 - Over the top of my IDEAL goal range; in the top 10% of my absolute goal range.
July 3: 2019: Ten-day average 146.9 - Smack in the middle of my IDEAL goal range and absolute goal range; This was a good day; I was pretty much where I want/need to be.
The TrendWeight app says I'm back to where I was about April 7, which is a week earlier than it told me last week, and that I'm still losing at a reasonable rate that should put me splat on target in a little over a month if I keep doing what I'm doing.
I am still striving to get down to the middle or bottom of my goal range, and I am comfortable that it's going to probably take the rest of July to get there in a safe and happy way, and I know I'll have bumps like being up two pounds since yesterday. Wait, WHAT? Yep. Keep focused on the longer term and trend!

May 11: Ten-day average 149.5 - Way over the top of my IDEAL goal range; almost busting over the top of my absolute goal range. It is 0.3 pounds below my highest weight during the recent gains I was struggling with that started in March and went through May. I got up to an average of 149.8 I was pretty much at or near this max weight all of May.
June 11: Ten-day average 148.2 - Over the top of IDEAL goal range and top 20% of absolute goal range.
July 11: Ten-day average 146.5 - In top third of IDEAL goal range and top 40% of absolute goal range. This is the exact same average weight I reported last week and very close to what I reported two weeks ago. This is the first time I can report than I weigh less than one, two, three, AND 12 months ago!

I had a moment of insight yesterday that I hope will help me feel better about my goal and where I am relative to it.
I was trying to fix some wind chimes and a cast iron bell. I had to make new sails, and I was looking in my tackle box for some weight. Somehow, the fishing license I bought one year while in grad school was still taped inside. That's not quite 30 years ago, but really close. I only fished one of the three years I was in grad school; I caught some hatchery fish in a reservoir, and it really wasn't very exciting. I focused on other activities. But for some reason I actually looked at the document yesterday. Needs new tape. But it showed my weight. It was two pounds above what I have set as my ultimate goal, and it was smack in the middle of what I now call my maintenance range. Wait. What?
I doubt I was shaving pounds when I got that license, but it's possible I was a hair heavier than it says. A couple years later, I got a drivers license in the state I currently live, and I listed my weight about five pounds heavier. Ten years later, ten pounds heavier. Eight years after that, nine pounds heavier. Seems like it was about a pound a year. I hear that can happen.
I got to my heaviest a couple years after that. I was probably heavier than I listed on the license, but was in denial. My heaviest was another six or seven pounds up from what it said. That was seven years ago when I sort of decided to do something about it. I lost in fits and starts for about four years. I was losing VERY slowly. Then three years ago or so I got serious and got to my initial goal weight in about ten months. Along the way, I decided to lower my goal to what it is now. My original goal all that time was.... One pound more than what I just read on that fishing license. My final goal was a couple pounds below it, but now I think I'm just going to use THAT goal, my weight in grad school, as my ultimate goal weight. I'm keeping my maintenance ranges. The goal still fits.
My hope is that I keep being kind to myself even if that, possibly overzealous, goal I set a while ago remains just out of reach. It's ok.
Sorry this got so long. I just needed to vent and/or celebrate. I hope you have an epiphany too!

Iâm SO happy for you & I want to thank you because I saw myself in what you were writing (and then FINALLY adjusted my goal range)!
You made such KEY insights!
I truly feel being kind to ourselves (which includes eating foods that make us feel great - not sluggish -and exercise that enlivens us), may be the key to maintenance - at least for me. Beating myself up just stresses me & I think can lead to the âforget it; I give upâ eating back up to our previous weights.
So glad to be in this journey with you!

June 20: 2019: Away from the scale: I was rowing my raft down the Middle Fork Salmon River in Idaho. That was an amazing trip. Before I left, my ten-day average weight was 145.4 on June 11 (2.5 pounds over my goal) and on my return 145.2 June 22 (essentially the same weight even though I ate so so SO much food). This is pretty much the middle of my IDEAL goal range. Yay me.
March 20: Ten-day average 146.6 - In top third of IDEAL goal range and top half of absolute goal range; even close to the top third.
April 20: Ten-day average 148.7 - Over the top of my IDEAL goal range; in the top 10% of my absolute goal range.
May 20: Ten-day average 149.4 - Way over the top of my IDEAL goal range; almost busting over the top of my absolute goal range.
June 20: Ten-day average 146.9 - In top 20% of IDEAL goal range and top third of absolute goal range. But the good news is.... For the fourth week in a row, I'm down from a month ago. Yay! I'm also down from two months ago. I am pretty much exactly the weight I was three months ago. My average weight is down almost a pound from last week. I am still over my weight a year ago, but not by a whole lot. I'll get back there - back to the middle of my IDEAL goal range.

June 27: 2019: Ten-day average 144.9 - Smack in the middle of my IDEAL goal range and absolute goal range; This was a good day; I was pretty much where I want/need to be.
March 27: Ten-day average 146.6 - In top third of IDEAL goal range and top half of absolute goal range; even close to the top third.
April 27: Ten-day average 148.7 - Over the top of my IDEAL goal range; in the top 10% of my absolute goal range.
May 27: Ten-day average 149.6 - Way over the top of my IDEAL goal range; almost busting over the top of my absolute goal range. It is 0.2 pounds below my highest weight during the recent gains I was struggling with that started in March and went through May. I was pretty much at or near this max weight all of May.
June 27: Ten-day average 146.3 - In top third of IDEAL goal range and top 40% of absolute goal range. Good news is.... For the fifth week in a row, I'm down from a month ago. Yay! I'm also down from two months ago. I am pretty much exactly the weight I was three months ago. My average weight is down just over half a pound from last week. I am still over my weight a year ago, but not by a whole lot. I'll get back there - back to the middle of my IDEAL goal range.
The TrendWeight app says I'm back to where I was about April 7, which is a week earlier than it told me last week, and that I'm still losing at a reasonable rate that should put me splat on target in a little over a month if I keep doing what I'm doing.
I had my annual physical exam this week. My doctor told me I am one of his healthiest patients my age, and he has a LOT of patients my age.

I am SUPPOSED TO BE in maintenance with a goal weight of 143 pounds and an allowable goal range of 140-150 pounds and an IDEAL goal range of 142 - 148. I fluctuate wildly day-to-day, and try to stay fairly steady month-to-month. I often succeed, and sometimes I am not exactly where I want to be. I will update here once per week and report my ten-day average weight.
July 3: Ten-day average 146.5 - In top third of IDEAL goal range and top 40% of absolute goal range. Up 0.2 from a week ago, but down three pounds from one month ago and two months ago, up less than half a pound from a quarter ago, and up less than a half a pound from a year ago.
June 3: Ten-day average 149.3 - In top third of IDEAL goal range and top 40% of absolute goal range. Good news is.... For the fifth week in a row, I'm down from a month ago. Yay! I'm also down from two months ago. I am pretty much exactly the weight I was three months ago. My average weight is down just over half a pound from last week. I am still over my weight a year ago, but not by a whole lot. I'll get back there - back to the middle of my IDEAL goal range.
May 3: Ten-day average 149.7 - Way over the top of my IDEAL goal range; almost busting over the top of my absolute goal range. It is 0.2 pounds below my highest weight during the recent gains I was struggling with that started in March and went through May. I was pretty much at or near this max weight all of May.
April 3: Ten-day average 146.1 - Over the top of my IDEAL goal range; in the top 10% of my absolute goal range.
July 3: 2019: Ten-day average 146.9 - Smack in the middle of my IDEAL goal range and absolute goal range; This was a good day; I was pretty much where I want/need to be.
The TrendWeight app says I'm back to where I was about April 7, which is a week earlier than it told me last week, and that I'm still losing at a reasonable rate that should put me splat on target in a little over a month if I keep doing what I'm doing.
I am still striving to get down to the middle or bottom of my goal range, and I am comfortable that it's going to probably take the rest of July to get there in a safe and happy way, and I know I'll have bumps like being up two pounds since yesterday. Wait, WHAT? Yep. Keep focused on the longer term and trend!

April 11: Ten-day average 147.8 - Near the top of my IDEAL goal range; in the top 10% of my absolute goal range.
May 11: Ten-day average 149.5 - Way over the top of my IDEAL goal range; almost busting over the top of my absolute goal range. It is 0.3 pounds below my highest weight during the recent gains I was struggling with that started in March and went through May. I got up to an average of 149.8 I was pretty much at or near this max weight all of May.
June 11: Ten-day average 148.2 - Over the top of IDEAL goal range and top 20% of absolute goal range.
July 11: Ten-day average 146.5 - In top third of IDEAL goal range and top 40% of absolute goal range. This is the exact same average weight I reported last week and very close to what I reported two weeks ago. This is the first time I can report than I weigh less than one, two, three, AND 12 months ago!

Have maintained average Weekly weights In 157âs since March 25.
Focusing on sleep, keeping positive in general, quality of food, and pushing my exercise up a little.
I am SUPPOSED TO BE in maintenance with a goal weight of 143 pounds and an allowable goal range of 140-150 pounds and an IDEAL goal range of 142 - 148. I fluctuate wildly day-to-day, and try to stay fairly steady month-to-month. I often succeed, and sometimes I am not exactly where I want to be. I will update here once per week and report my ten-day average weight.
July 18, 2019: Ten-day average 147.5 - Near the top of my IDEAL goal range and in pretty close to the top of my absolute goal range. I had a short little weight gain last summer that I was able to stop pretty quickly.
April 18: Ten-day average 148.8 - Near the top of my IDEAL goal range; in the top 10% of my absolute goal range.
May 18: Ten-day average 149.3 - Way over the top of my IDEAL goal range; almost busting over the top of my absolute goal range. I got up to an average of 149.8 I was pretty much at or near this max weight all of May.
June 18: Ten-day average 147.3 - Near the top of IDEAL goal range and top 25% of absolute goal range. But less than a month before.
July 18: Ten-day average 147.0 - Really close to the top third of IDEAL goal range and top 30% of absolute goal range. My weight is creeping up again, so... I must stop that. But I am still LESS THAN A MONTH AGO, so yay. What's also yay? I weigh less than two months ago and three months ago. Not only that, I am a half pound less than a year ago.
