Am I not allowed to put a link to a virtual race on here? I did and it disappeared. Anyway, I'll just say that I got an email about the International Space Station virtual run to celebrate 20 years of the ISS and return to manned space flight from the USA. The medal is a cool 3-D replica of the ISS and the shirt, which I really don't need, has a depiction of the solar system and says "Give me some space."

If you broke a rule, you would have gotten a PM from the mods about it. Trust me, I know ;) As far as I know you can link races. Post the link again. It was probably just a hiccup.

It's tipping with rain here. After about six months of fabulous weather (we're in drought. In winter!) the wet has finally come. I'm supposed to run today. I'm not mentally prepared. I'm procrastinating. Someone give me a poke.

Yay for rain! Hope the water tanks get a bit fuller! And it's perfect running weather, if you haven't already gone out lol

Nope. Slacked off royally. Haven’t done that in a while!

Good for you! Sometimes that is what exactly what we need. :)

Hahaha @Avidkeo ! Getting an F for over achievement just seems wrong.

@PastorVincent That's what I thought would happen. I tried it twice though and it would disappear. I'll try here again and see what happens.

Here is the link to the virtual race I mentioned earlier.

It's going to be a hot one out there today, but I got the run in early enough that it wasn't too terrible yet. Hill repeats today, but mercifully only 5 miles of it instead of the 6 we did last week. My trainer must have some ulterior motive for that, but I was more than happy to cut it back.

    6/18: 6.02 miles

    78.22/100 miles completed for June

641.44/1000 miles for Run the Year Team Pavement Pounders

I had a surprisingly great run this morning. When I got up my weather app said it was 77°F and there were 13 mph winds. But my ankle was not hurting and I figured I could tough it out for my planned 5 miles and even cut back to 4 if necessary. So I started out (a little after 6 which is later than I like to leave the house). It was already light enough that instead of going down the main road on the sidewalk, I headed on the back road to the park. It was a little tough starting out as I was running straight into the wind, but once I turned and started heading west it wasn't too bad and the wind was just enough to keep it from being too hot. I really started to feel good and was getting in the zone. I saw a skunk on the way to the park, but he didn't see me. I think he was just trying to get back home after his night of activity. I was enjoying the run a lot. I was running on familiar roads, but also running the opposite of what I generally run and changing my route up just enough to feel kind of new. I turned around and started heading back in plenty of time to get 5 miles, but as I was running I just didn't want to stop so I ended up adding on some when I came back through the park and also when I got to the turnoff for home I kept going a couple of blocks before turning and heading home. I could have gone further, but by that time I really needed to get home if I wanted to have time for some yoga before getting ready for work. I was so glad that my ankle didn't bother me at all. I really think the issue the other day was the shoes I wore to work and not anything to do with running. So I ended up with 6 miles this morning and even though it was pretty warm and I was dripping with sweat, it felt good and I was really happy when I got home.

@Avidkeo Hooray for being cleared to run! I'm not so sure about Hal. He sounds mean. I usually use his HM training plans, but I modify them because they start out with less mileage than I typically run. I have briefly thought about getting Hal +, but I probably won't after hearing about it from you and @eleanorhawkins . I think I would find it de-motivating to be scolded like that and given an F.

    @skippygirlsmom I love those shoes!

Speaking of shoes, what type of shoes do you ladies wear when you are not running. I work in an office but it's pretty casual. Today I'm wearing some Sketchers Go Walk and they are pretty comfortable, but I also think they are kind of ugly.

Try it! If you can drink from a cup at an aid station, why not eat ice cream. What can go wrong?
Worst that can happen is that you end up wearing sticky ice cream for the rest of the run. ....actually, that sounds pretty bad. I'm glad that didn't happen to me :D

Getting rid of sticky is exactly why I stopped using Gu.

Yeah, I might end up wearing some of it. But I still think it would be awesome! I'm going to shower when I get home any way.

@quilteryoyo You just made my husband’s day! We are now signed up for the space station race. Normally he thinks virtual races just to get cool medals are kinda lame, but we are agreed that given the current circumstances, anything counts!
