@_nikkiwolf_ I see an ice cream running challenge being thrown down here. I'm up for it!
@brittanystebbins95 I'm sorry for all your stress. Good for you for keeping moving. I hope things will ease up for you and you can enjoy the arrival of your baby - soon? I can't remember when you are due, but I know I'm impressed with you for getting miles in while growing your little human!

Missed all the chat today, because I've been baking!
Be warned, Porn in spoiler
Having a big party tomorrow for the girls, a joint one to celebrate since their birthdays were during heavy lockdown when we couldn't even leave the house. We sort of thought we would have around 20 people coming, but last count is closer to 70! Eep! So the fancy blue cake in the fridge will be assembled tomorrow, so I'll post more pics tomorrow.
Fortunately the party is only for about an hr, we have a couple of games arranged. Fortunately the weather is supposed to be good, so the kids should have a blast.
Actually look forward to it!
Should have heeded your warning...3 -

@PastorVincent uhhhhhhh so this is my FAVORITE show and i am a DIE HARD DR WHO FAN. it's my favorite thing in the world.
So thanks for this. Really made my otherwise difficult day much better!0 -
I'm going to miss some things so for everyone I miss, I did read your post and I love you and I support you and you are not alone.
@rheddmobile I am so sorry about your trail. I agree - it's best to err on the side of LIVING as opposed to the alternative.
@Avidkeo CAKE PORN! OMG I LOVE CAKE! I had cake last Friday for my daughter's 14th and it was soooooooo good! And.... I won't have cake again until my son's birthday ,which is in January.
@Tramboman KEEP GOING! YOUR CONSISTENCY IS SO INSPIRING AND MAKES ME WANT TO BE BETTER
@quilteryoyo I am also sorry about your dad. Both of my parents are dead. I can empathize. Difficult to convey through a screen and difficult to express, but in my heart I am hugging you. Also, thanks for the kutos on preparation! I got a box of Spring Energy on the way because Sally McRae said I should and if you enter YELLOWRUNNER as a promo code you'll get a discount. So yay for more fuel!
Pain report: Did some lifting and PT last night and I think I am sore from that. I have REALLY taken it easy this week. I just want to make it through a shorter run tomorrow and do short runs the rest of the week until THE SUMMERTIME BINGE. I am still nervous about the mileage I have laid out but if 2020 has taught any of us anything, it's that we can adjust and adapt as we need to. Also got that sports bra exchanged, so that was fun. Also, the kids will be with their dad for the bulk of the binge (he has specific visitation rights during summer breaks) so that allows me some time to truly focus on recovery and rest and preparation. and REST.
@Faebert good news on the quad! Praying for continued healing for you!
Also, you all will never believe this - but I discovered spotify this week. AND DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU CAN ADD FOLLOWERS AND FOLLOW PEOPLE?! I have a three month trial so I have to decide which other subscriptions to cancel. I think it MIGHT ACTUALLY be better than Pandora! I can't believe it! I already have almost ten hours on my running playlist!2 -
Today I completed week 2 of C25K! Was able to do 1.86 miles, so it wasn't the furthest I've gone in those 30 minutes, but its not too far off - so I'm happy about it
--
@rheddmobile - that sounds like the worst, I'm sorry that was your experience! I live in SoCal and it been interesting to see how many people have just "forgotten" that there's still a pandemic Its now a state requirement to wear a mask outside, so we'll see how people respond. But hope its better the next time you head out!7 -

@quilteryoyo So my friend was actually in the control room when the Challenger blew up. She doesn’t talk about it often but when she does it’s horrible to hear. She still sees and talks to many who were there with her, she said it’s one of those bonds between people when there’s a tragedy. We have the Space and Rocket Center here in town, which is really cool, for years Skip went to Space Champ and LOVED it, it’s a great program for kids and adults. There’s a Saturn V and Space Shuttle there with a million other cool things. NASA has a big presence here too, afterall we are the Rocket City ha ha
Everything you ever wanted to know about the Rocket City

On a good note, Skip and I signed up, that virtual site has some cute shirts on it too. My other friend wanted the link he wants to sign up too. Thanks
@Avidkeo I just gained 10 lbs on your pictures.

@quilteryoyo @skippygirlsmom
So, these two pictures were taken with a very very cheap point and click 35mm film camera and then scanned in much later. But here you go, the promised pictures of the real ISS when I visited it...I forget which section this is, but it is up there now. This was back in 2001 when this section was in Huntsville.3 -
@brittanystebbins95 – I’m so sorry for all your stressors. It’s only natural to want to have your mom with you during the birth of your first child. I would feel the same. And to separate a mom and her newborn baby – oh my goodness, how heartbreaking! Please know that I appreciate you and all the law enforcement officers who work hard to protect me. It’s a shame that a few bad apples have caused not only loss of lives but such chaos.
@skippygirlsmom – Good luck tomorrow! My 5th Marathon was the Rocket City marathon. We had packet pick-up and pre-race dinner at the space center and ran by it the next day. It was the best part of the entire race!

@brittanystebbins95 So sorry for your stress. This is supposed to be such a happy time. Keep exercising - it will help with the stress.
@PastorVincent Thanks for the NB heads up....my shoes are not on the deal but they have some good stuff!
@natacosupreme Great job....keep going!

Got my walk in today. Was going to run but the hip is hurting. I spent the time zig -zagging away from other runners and walkers to avoid getting too close.
Austin and I think other large cities just went to "masks are required in public places in doors." Our cases are out of control and ICU's are full. Too many crowds between Memorial weekend, grad parties, protests, etc....I feel like my past 4 months of effort have been for naught. Thank god for exercise and nature.
Tomorrow is my DD's MCAT.....I will be so happy when its done 🙏👍

@skippygirlsmom I remember I was driving to CA, listening to the launch on the radio, when the Challenger blew up. So sad. I can't imagine what it would have been like to have been in the control room. Space Camp would have been so much fun! Yeah for signing up for the virtual race.
@PastorVincent Very cool. It looks so small. I can't imagine living in there for years.
I may have to check out the Rocket City Marathon.
No exercise for me today. Instead mom, dad, and I packed up the rest of my cousin's stuff at his apartment and brought some of it home. I may not do much tomorrow either and just take this week as a "rest" week of sorts - did play lots of tennis and got in one run and then repeat do this week's plan next week.
Mom told me I looked tired yesterday. I told her I wasn't physically tired, but I was mentally tired. Everything seems to be piling up. I just need a little relaxation before hitting everything strong again on Monday. As a result, I had a weird dream last night. Part of it was that my mom had made a skillet of cornbread. There was a piece out buttered and waiting for me to eat it, but I only got one bite because I had to leave to take someone somewhere. Anyway, mom always cooks lunch for me on Sunday. I told her today I wanted corn bread and pinto beans this week. That's what I grew up eating almost every day, so it's my comfort food. Can hardly wait for Sunday to get here.5 -
I'm going to admit that I am a little bit technically challenged. I just glanced at Spotify. Am I reading it right that you have to pay a monthly subscription to be able to download your playlist so you can listen offline? I don't mind, if that is what I have to do, since it's a lot less than unlimited data I thought I was going to have to get. If I get it on my computer and download a playlist, can I transfer that to my phone, or do I have to download it from Spotify on the phone? If anyone can give me a cliff note version of Spotify for Dummies, I would appreciate it.1
-
You all need to tell me next time you’re in town for a race.
@quilteryoyo a year or so ago Rocket City added a half marathon option, however, they don’t open it until so many full are sold. It’s a great Boston Qualifier because it’s pretty flat. So amazing to run passed the Rockets. I work right across the street from the Space and Rocket Center so I’ll run over that way and we have a race at Christmas that runs out there but actually starts in the Botanical Gardens next door. Mental tired is so much worse than physical.
@T1DCarnivoreRunner great picture! I look about and see that rocket every day. So beautiful at night.

Whew. It's 230om here. Party over. Clean up finished. I'm exhausted.
I went for a 5k run this morning before finishing the cake - thank goodness. I held off snacking till about 1130. Have no idea how much I ate. Too much is probably the answer.
Oh well final cake porn pics (I know @Tramboman can't resist well photographed porn 😜)
I'm really really happy how the cake came out. All that watching Man About Cake has paid off (kids are obsessed with him. Can't say I'm not either lol) and it tasted fantastic.10 -

Who knew online-strangers-become-friends would be such a great support group? ♥ I love you all so much.
@Camaramandy648 Spotify is the best! I literally cannot stand Pandora anymore. I used to use it a lot, and then my husband introduced me to Spotify and I've never looked back 😂
@quilteryoyo I'm sorry to hear about your stress ♥ Being mentally exhausted is the worst. I hope and pray you can find some way to energize yourself. Maybe Mom's cooking will be good for that. I know my mom's usually is. Also, the Spotify for Dummies thing. I just use the most basic functions of the app, so I don't know for sure if there is a way to move them onto your actual phone. But if you download a playlist, it will download the songs within the app. And then you can go into the app, even with your data turned off, and listen from there like you would normally.5 -
brittanystebbins95 wrote: »@Camaramandy648 Spotify is the best! I literally cannot stand Pandora anymore. I used to use it a lot, and then my husband introduced me to Spotify and I've never looked back 😂
I have not used Spotify for years. Pandora used to be cool, but that was a long time ago. I currently have a free trial of Apple Music which is great as they have high-quality music files but does not seem to do well with "play me more music like..." - I pay for Amazon Music so that I can be like "Alexa play Skillet Monster" and that works well. Annoyingly though since my wife, my son, and I all use the same account and we all have different tastes in music asking her to play songs based on what I like does not work as well as it could.
I guess I will have to look into Spotify again.

Lovely party @avidkeo! I would love a slice of that cake. I'm more of a cake orderer than baker though.
@quilteryoyo calling it a rest week sounds good. Hope you will feel recovered and revived by some comfort food tomorrow.

It was almost like old times meeting up with friends for a Saturday morning run. A beautiful morning but getting hot already and 95% humidity. I have a lot of yard and house cleaning to do this weekend so I didn't run as long as I might have normally. I'm planning to run a 12k race course tomorrow so I'll have two medium runs rather than a real long run this week.
