Here's a link if you want to see what a simple TDEE calculator looks like: https://www.calculator.net/tdee-calculator.html. As mentioned above in this thread, these online TDEE calculators are not all that accurate (for a more advanced one, you could google the Sailrabbit TDEE calculator referenced by AnnPT77 above).
If anyone needs, it, it's at https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/0 -
Hi fellow fitness pals! Due to a lot of health issues, my doctor suggested I try eating more plant based to increase my longevity. We just started 5 days ago, and we are eating more plant based meals, but haven't cut out meat altogether. We will mix it up every week and see what happens.0
-
Good luck..my sis & bil are total plant based, no oil & seem to be doing great with it. I canβt quite do it myself, although it is getting more interesting to me to try!1
-
Good luck with it! I cut out red meat several Years ago. I still have fish and poultry.1
-
I cut out meat entirely a few years ago and then gradually added some back in. Now I eat chicken and some pork. I haven't eaten red meat in well over 10 years.
Hooray, the rain is over for awhile. I'm looking forward to more time digging in the dirt in my yard.

Good Morning. Our gym reopens 6/22. Iβve paid for TRX classes so will complete those. Does anyone go to 24Fitness? Will we be scheduling our gym time? Also, how do you feel about going back to the gym? I need to tone up and drop a few Covid lbs. so Iβve started logging foods regularly and walking mornings with a friend.2

I was glad to go back when the gym opened. Just spending a little more time wiping down equipment - otherwise no difference for me.

I posted on here before, I think, about six months ago, but I can't find my post so here goes - I'm 64, have lost 61 lbs (over the last year and 1/2), have 4 grandkids-2 teens and 2 toddlers, I want to lose 4 more lbs but it just is going up and down a lb or two all the time. I'm not watching my twin toddlers super often like I was before since my daughter is unemployed now due to Covid, I moved to an apartment that I don't feel safe walking in (except to my car) and this lockdown has me going nuts, depressed/anxious/bored. Luckily I'm not much of an emotional eater (in fact, I tend when I get depressed to not feel like eating). I'm stuck. Any ideas? I decided to lose weight due to 1) vanity, 2) energy to keep up with the twins and 3) less of a chance for either diabetes or dementia. Oh, and ideas for a lower abdominal pooch that is less but not gone and is saggy.2

I don't go to a gym, but my exercise with others is a class in my neighborhood clubhouse and line dance classes at the Elk's Club. Neither of these facilities is allowing anyone in so I don't have to decide whether to go. My husband is very high risk, so I am likely to continue sheltering at home except for essential shopping even when the facilities reopen.

Checking in with y'all. Lifting workout yesterday morning- deadlifts with no pain - my back feels fine today. I think the muscles are healed. Onward and upward.
The daily dog walks continue. Have met a couple of folks along my usual route. It's always nice to make some new acquaintances.
Had a couple of high carb/calorie days recently. I think it's out of my system now. Planning a combination birthday/Father's Day dinner tomorrow. There may be one more high calorie day in the future. HAHA! You gotta' celebrate those granddaughter's birthdays!
Have an awesome weekend, everyone!

Hello, at 65 please add me.
I'm devastated, 4 years ago I was 18 stone and had a heart attack, I lost 4 stone by using MFP but now I've slipped back and I'm 17 stone as of today (lockdown don't help). I can't exercise much due to arthritis, I keep falling over and hurting myself even more, but I'm determined to lose 3 stone at least. I don't snack so I'm guessing portion size is my problem.
Thanks

Hi carb days are a real thing! Yesterday was a doozy! Oh well, as Steve said, we still have to live and celebrate what life has to offer. Slow and steady wins the race. Bob, I don't know how many pounds equal a stone, going to check out on google. Try some chair exercises. You might enjoy them.3

I am 61 and need to lose 40 lbs. I live near Kansas City, Missouri.0

Yesterday was an interesting day for me. My walk with the dogs was cut short by rain. Normally we are dressed for it, but this time we were unprepared so we came home. I had an all day zoom meeting. Fortunately it was one where I was a listener and not an active participant so I could ride my exercise bike, walk the dogs, and do some much needed housework while carrying my phone in my pocket and wearing headphones. Normally such a meeting would have required a two hour drive each way and a whole day of sitting quietly and listening. This was much better. Also, I could eat my regular food, rather than a combination of restaurant and buffet.
Today will be more normal.
Checking in with all of you makes my day better.

My daughter arrived earlier for Father's Day. She brought me a jar of pickled eggs, a six pack of potato chips and a bottle of wine. bless her, I never said a word other than thank you.

Hang in there Bob!0

Hope you all had an awesome weekend.
Somehow a water balloon battle broke out at the 9th birthday party. Everyone was soaked when we were done. Gotta' act like a kid sometimes. ππ¦π
Father's Day dinner was very tasty and carbolicious. The scale thought it was great, too. Glad that I know that 4 pound spike is temporary.4 -
I finally get to get my hair cut. Yay!!!!! Salons are open! My hair's been driving me bats, but now it'll be ok for another couple of months. And this coming Sunday I get to go to church again! I don't know if we'll be able to receive Communion and I know we won't be able to sing, but it will be wonderful anyway. Yay!!!!3

I have plenty of hats so I cut my own hair
Question: My health adviser says I should restrict my calories to 1100 a day, if I do, MFP tells me I'm not eating enough. Who do I believe?1 -

MFP is an all purpose site that has numbers that work for most people. Don't click the button at the end of your food diary. Just use the diary to keep track of what you eat and how you exercise. Make use of the professional advice and see how it works for you. The most important thing is that the 1100 calories you consume are filled with nutrition so your body gets the fuel it needs to do what you do.3 -
I'm pretty excited. I hit my original goal weight today. I started July 1, 2020 with a 18 month plan to lose 70lbs and hit it today, 3 months early. I expect it will waiver for the next week or so before it dips under & stays, but today is the day I hit it!
I have revised my goal, but it will be at a much slower pace to mentally & physically prepare me for lifetime maintenance, and besides, I leave for Myrtle Beach Thursday...without my scales. Let's see how accurate I am on the logging.9 -

Correction: Since (according to your MFP profile) you're male, MFP really wants you to eat 1500 calories, minimum - that's the lowest MFP guided setup will give anyone. (It will give women 1200 as a minimum). For either, it will maybe still let you close your diary if somewhat lower, but those are the numbers MFP recommends to get minimum nutrition.3 -
