Tues 16: 149.2🤔
Wed 17: 149.3🤔
Thu 18: 149.2🤔
Fri 19: 149.4 🤓 I was wondering if this uptick is connected to the fact that I have started interval walking/jogging to get my steps in. I did a little research, and sure enough, there it was, in black and white. When you start jogging, the muscles hold on to fluid for muscle repair. Can be several lbs, and it sorts itself out when the body acclimatises, so I'm sticking with it until it settles down.
😂 Just when you think you have it all sorted, one little change throws it up in the air again. I'm guessing that this is temporary.

Ongoing plans/ideas behind the cut1. Purchases: Look for an "ugly Christmas sweater" and a long-haired doll at thrift stores. Practice French braiding. Go to used bookstore and look for On Writing (Stephen King), Dying for a Paycheck (Robin Hardman), The Prince (tr. Tim Parks, Russell Price, or Robert Adams), The Secret Adversary (Christie).
2. E2: What should the controlling ideas be in a study of world literature? Review world lit options. Create vocabulary lists for each unit that come from the texts used: Animal Farm, Julius Caesar, Wes Moore, I Am Malala. Find a way to incorporate changing words from one part of speech to another. Students need to know how to review multiple sources and synthesize information in order to draw a conclusion. Need practice with the difference between transitions and overlapping (at end of paragraph - "another issue is Y" vs "there are other issues besides X"). Quit using "in conclusion" and "I believe" and other writing-about-my-writing phrases. Confusion between direct/indirect objects and prepositional phrases. Use the UDHR and the Declaration of Independence to study paraphrasing; use that to front-load Machiavelli and how to deal with challenging texts. Confusion between everyday / every day and similar constructions.
3. E1: Need practice with quoting & paraphrasing sources, identifying claims that would need support, use of last names for reference, and capitalization practice (common/proper nouns, titles). Difficulty using possessive nouns in their own writing. Honors: practice subject/object pronouns (my friend and I / my friend and me). Poetry: Revise "Songs are Poetry" handouts.
4. Curriculum Development: Writing mini-unit. Review scholarly research on 5PE. (I think I can have this as an intro to the research unit so that they also get exposure to how quotes are integrated and cited.) Parallel structure; use of emotional language, specific detail. Use "Write About a Pebble" lesson from Atwell. How long should each unit take? Do research on characteristics: curiosity, persistence, resilience, creativity, responsibility, optimism, courage, integrity, authenticity, leadership, self-awareness, humility, compassion - others? Include grammarly check on essays! Review assessments. What is the purpose for each unit? What should the controlling ideas be in a study of world literature? Review world lit options. Schedule assessments for Fall 2019; plan out return times. Write 1 reflection weekly; type one in Classroom by Weds. Copy-paste to discussion board for comments due Friday. Homework: Online journal Mon due Tue; Reflection Tue due Wed; C&P journal in class Wed; Comments Thu due Fri. Bonus if you are the first response; further bonus if you respond to comments on your post. Grammar practice Mon & Wed; quiz Fri.
5. Professional Development: Write blog post weekly. Comment on 3 posts each week - Tu Th Sun? Check with PSC. Talk with Z about articles and/or conference proposals. NOTE: ATTENDED PRE FLEX DAY.
6. Medical: Dentist call to schedule cleaning. PCP July 15 10:30. ObG schedule for October. PCP - allergy shots? left toe joints. Sleep center 778 3316.
7. Theater: 1984.
8. House: Crawl space repairs. After that - siding? Or perhaps bathroom floor.
9. Fun: Open beading on Thursdays. Coloring at library on Tuesday. Put jewelry away. Edney Hack Nights alt Weds. ASL? Spanish/Portuguese practice? Practice piano. ROL Secret Adversary. Buy bike rack for car.
10. Volunteering ideas: Theater. Library. Animal shelter. Community Kitchen. Emerge Georgia training.
11. Family: Google Hangout. Dinners?
12. Other: Practice hair braiding with D. Check on appts for drs. Remind D to ask his dad about the table and check with home repair contractors. START BLOGGING AGAIN. 3 posts/week? Create test for MLA format. Create test for infographics and visual information. Therapy exercises: lunges, push-ups, ankle lifts, box jumps, plank. Remember that M does not like surprises! Check dates of classes and update semester plan. She Should Run vision statement. Update standards on board. When to change bulletin board?

Good morning! I left work on time yesterday but still had about 200 unread emails. @Snowflake1968 you are definitely right, and I'm worried he may start to take issue with it because he's not the most rational person. But I'm at the point where this job needs to fit my needs too, and if he can't accept that I'll have to figure something else out. I do still like my job but I can't do this lifestyle anymore.
Yesterday 6/22:
1. Pay attention to hunger levels and listen 😑 ehhhh sort of
2. Get 30 minutes of some kind of activity/movement😁
3. Finish work by 5:30😁

JFT I will

3. Have produce at every meal
4. Post on a forum for community support and to start to get to know people8 -
I typed a long entry yesterday and lost it when I went to post it. Ugh!
I’m back to raiding the pantry in the evening. I can’t eliminate all snacks from the house because I live with 3 other people (husband and 2 teenage sons), but I can recommit to not eating after dinner. Even if I eat a planned snack, or something like fruit, or popcorn, it leads me into going back for more, not because I am hungry, but because it is habit and looking for comfort.
Sooooo, for today...
1. I will not eat past 7 pm
2. Eat green veggies
3. Write in my journal

Wow, yesterday I just lost the edge... I haven't been sleeping well and when I got home from work, I laid down to nap and the night was just over. It's like I just gave up. I ate too much and didn't exercise at all.
I meet with my doc tonight so I can maybe get a handle on the sleep thing. Supposed to be a group ride tonight, but because of my appt I won't be able to make it. Perhaps I'll go late, I know the route and I can still finish with those doing the longer routes. Big @$$ hill at the end of route. Not sure I can make this one, but I'll try. This is all assuming the storms hold off.
JFT Tuesday

- Meeting at 9:00
- Start looking at development on new method. Nasty chemicals with this one. Dangerous and stinky. I gotta make it safe for the workers before I'll release the test.
- Scrounge for lunch
- If not raining, leave work early and set up for ride so I can go straight from appt to ride
- If raining, Peleton or rowing
- Dinner with friends post ride
- Max 2 beers

All in all, I had a good day with goals yesterday, so I'm pleased about that! I spent a lot of time in reflection yesterday. I have had a lot of anxiety with the unknowns over the past week. I need to get a grip. I'm not sure that I will be brought back to work. I have a feeling that my job will be eliminated because they are trying to get the job done with less manpower after losing so much money during COVID shutdown. I can't collect Social Security for a few more years. Where does a person try to get a job at 60 years old when they've done the same thing for over 30 years? I like to just retire and not go back to work if they don't call me back, but I have to figure out medical insurance before I can do that. So, it is all doable, and may not even happen, but it is a constant worry in the back of my mind every minute of every day it seems like.
But today is a new day, and I am not going to let it ruin today. I let it get the best of me last week, and I'm NOT going to waste THIS week!
Just for Tuesday:- Assess yesterday's food plan and create today's
- 75 oz water

@PackerFanInGB - I like your goals for learning new things. I am going to try to write this year too. I need to get at it. I want to write a memoir for my daughters for Christmas but use my Mom's and Grandmother's diaries to jog my memory of a particular day. I will put their diary entries in the book as well. I have a lot of pictures I can add to it as well. I need to get at it, as it's almost July! - Love the new pic!
@HEGoddard0928 - I hope you have a better day today.
@annettehangartner - Letting adult children use your kitchen and take over is a tough one to do. I did it for the first time on Christmas this past year with my youngest and her new husband. It was hard to sit back and do, but they put on a fabulous dinner and cleaned up just as I would have. I was so impressed. Welcome!
@TerriRichardson112 - How is the project for your Grandson coming along? Did he look up the questions somewhere or did he write them himself?
@kuhl50 - I hope your boss appreciates your hard work and you are compensated for the long days.
@jenwalkingfurther - Chips are my kryptonite as well. I need to just stop buying them. I had done that previously, I didn't buy them for probably 5 years. If I really wanted some I had to go to the store and buy them and I would only buy a small bag. Since Covid has hit, I've been buying big family sized bags and I need to stop! There is only my husband and I at home.
@littleblackskirt - I hope you have a nicer day today weather wise.
@aubyshortcake - Irrational bosses are the best aren't they? I have had a few of them and am dealing with a boss whose manner I don't care for now too. It sucks because I really enjoy the job, but I don't know how long I'll be able to put up with her.
@teigansdad - I got my insurance renewed and paid for, now I need to remember to register the car for the next year by next Wednesday. You keep reminding me.
@AJB1014 - I keep getting that "unavailable" message as well. It usually works the 2nd or 3rd try though.
@fstrickl - This board is the best. It helped me lose 25lbs. If I had truly kept it up, I don't think I would be trying to lose 20 of that again.
@suzij27 - Evening snacking is my downfall every single night. I've been trying to remember what I used to do to stop it and I think what I did was allow myself one per night and then I would brush my teeth. I need to get back to that habit as I hate eating after brushing my teeth for a couple hours. My snacking is under control until around 9 when my husband goes to bed and then I get bored.
@busoxnardmg - 0.2 is still a loss. When I was losing regularly I found the weekly weigh-ins discouraging. I started weighing daily and tracking my weight in an Excel sheet. I then averaged it weekly and monthly and found that I was actually losing on average 1lb a week. It was encouraging and just what I needed to do. I also took measurements and was surprised to find inches gone before pounds usually.
@pridesabtch - Good luck with the big @$$ hill, I bet you can do it! I hope you find some relief to help you sleep, lack of sleep wreaks havoc on our whole life. My eldest daughter suffers terribly with insomnia, I was at a dispensary the other day and saw a new product that she is trying, she told me last night it is working well.
@PackerFanInGB - Why does the unknown cause us so much worry? I can handle almost anything but that. I like your idea of trying new things. I am going to try to write a book this year for my daughters, I am going to use my Mom's and Grandmother's diaries as a way to jog my memory on certain days and write a memoir for them. I have a lot of pictures I can put in as well. I think it will be nice for them to have 3 generations perspective on certain family events.
Well, again I have spent an hour on here this morning. I had everything all typed and hit the wrong button and lost it so had to start again.
I went and got my hair cut and coloured last night by my youngest daughter. She is not back at work yet, but is going at the end of the month so we decided it was safer for me to do it now. I had parcels come to my house for my eldest daughter so she came to pick them up and visited with us while it was being done. It was the first time since February we have all been together. It was so nice!
Today and tomorrow all staff and residents are being tested for Covid here in the nursing home. I think that this is just a way for the government to prove we are all safe and then they will allow visits again. I'm not sure if that's true or not, I guess time will tell.
I am hoping that the weather stays nice into the evening and I can go for a walk to try out my new shoes tonight.
Have a great day everyone.

@Snowflake1968 We’re on the home straight, as much as you can be as a writer. 😂 Every time I reread it, I add in something little detail. DH writes much less, so he is almost finished, but I’m proof-reading his, and collating the two, so it’s taking me much longer. It’s just as well I already had a body of memoir work to draw on or I would still be doing it next year.3

Hello and Happy Tuesday!
Today is going to be a scorcher! 99 expected, and still at 96 at 8pm tonight, I should have gotten my walk in this morning before work and that did not happen.....so I may be in a predicament LOL
Yesterday didn't quite go as planned, I did manage to not interfere with dinner makings when I got home from work, my adult daughter had things started and I just pulled together a salad, as that would be the primary base of my dinner. Need more water, did not work on finishing the writing of the service for this weekends wedding--that must be wrapped up tonight
Tuesday:
100 ounces water
walk late at night if possible, arm weights if not
Finish writing wedding service
Stay on track with calories 300brk/70 snack/400 lunch/50 snack/350 dinner
Spend 20 minutes in organization mode working on sewing studio set up
Stay focused at the office, getting ahead of the ball, minimizing stress

- work on 3 outline bullet points
- Healthy lunch
- Figure out a quick and easy dinner(NO TAKE OUT!!!) No take out but I think it was just a huge bag of popcorn...
- Pay attention to hunger/full signals
- refresh my brain in my learn to code app
Yesterday was a nightmare. I forgot about a doctor's appt in the afternoon. Thank God I had set a reminder for an hour ahead on my phone. The appt went fine. It was just a follow up for my medication change. I had 3 different bouts of anxiety yesterday and when the last one wore off around 4ish I turned into a raging monster. I managed to keep my temper with Matt but all I wanted to do all night was break/throw something. I was not a happy girl. Which turned into me eating half a huge bag of white cheddar popcorn and 3 glasses of wine for dinner. I'm feeling better today but now I'm bored and I have a pretty strong that nothing is going to get done today either.
I have a week to get my story outline hammered out. If I were to sit down and do it, it probably wouldn't take me long at all. I have the basics of a pretty decent summary of what I want to do with it but actually sitting down and typing the damn thing up is going to be the death of me. The first day of drafting the rough draft is next Wednesday so I until then to do it.
Onto a few goals, I guess,
JFT, 6/23/20

- Two mini habits
- Actually make something for dinner

@Snowflake1968 That is my danger time too - after my husband goes to bed! And it is usually around 9. It would help if I could go to bed that early, or at least 10, but I’m not sleepy until 11 or 11:30.
I had a setback today that I am both angry and sad about. I had to have unexpected dental surgery this morning and was given a list of what I can and can’t eat for the next 3 days, 2 weeks and 3 weeks. And very few of the foods on it are part of my food plan or even things I like. And I’m not suppose to exercise for at least 3-7 days. Ugh!!!!!! I’m still going to record what I eat (and drink). I’m going to have to let go of my anger, move forward and plan my meals under these new (temporary) guidelines.8 -

13. Lights out 9:45👿
Why I’m even bothering to put “lights out 9:45” on a week where I know I’m working crazy hours is pretty silly. But this is just this one week, then a bit of a break next. Today’s long meeting went well, and if you’re going to work so hard it’s gratifying to have people give you unsolicited compliments on the effectiveness of the work!
I did manage to fit in weights and some biking during a call (above 90–too hot to walk). I was over on calories, mostly because DD decided to make homemade pasta (for the first time) for dinner and it wasn’t ready until 8–I was starving.
Happy Wednesday everyone!

Good morning everyone! I’m still here. JFT (Wednesday) I’m going to log everything and stay within calories. I also really like your idea of setting a lights out time @Kuhl50 - even if it doesn’t happen, it’s sometimes good to aim for something. I’ve definitely eaten worse on the recent days I’ve been overtired. So tough right now when a lot of my socialising is online - staring at a computer screen until after 10pm really isn’t good for my sleep. I’ll try to have all devices off by 9.30.5
