Today’s run will be my last for this month. My goal was 130 miles. I ended up with 130.3 miles of running and 9.6 miles of hiking. Congratulations to everyone who reached their goal this month. I know several of you had a lot of life events and injuries that slowed you down but you’re still here giving it your all and that’s what counts the most!
Happy Birthday @hamsterwheel6!
@Avidkeo – I don’t wear compression socks often mostly because I forget about them and I’m self-conscious of my thick calves so I don’t want any more attention drawn to them than necessary. I wear them more in the winter than any other time also because of the heat of summer. I really do think they make a difference in how my calves feel though. I recommend you give them a try.
@marisap2010 – hope your new recipes turned out well. I’ve gotten lazy with meal prep since working from home. I also decided that going to the grocery store immediately after my 15-mile run on Saturday was not good. I bought everything!
@shanaber – I hope your procedure went well and you are back to running soon.
@mbaker566 – Napoleon looks like a runner!

Afternoon!
Was catching up on all of your posts, but can't respond to each of you individually!
Lots of running this weekend! 38 miles in two days which is a PR for distance as well as time. I did 38 miles in less than 24 hours. That has never happened!
I have 14 scheduled for today after work. I feel like it's gonna be kinda rough - I have this cramp, muscle soreness something or other in my left butt cheek that seems to be pretty relentless. It's very strange, but it's not an IT Band issue at least, so I'm grateful for that.
I'm holding up pretty well - better than I thought I would. Lots of photos on the fb page. I've placed, also! I was 1 place in age group yesterday, and 2nd in gender, and 4th over all!
Today is a different story altogether - one woman running is a coach and has qualified for the Olympic trials. Yep, I looked at her instagram because she's already at 105 miles! I don't know much about the other folks because comparison is the thief of joy, but once I knew I had placed, I got curious about who these people are.
I am not sure what the next eight days will look like for me, but for two days in a row, my name was near the top of the list and I'll always have that.
Time to finish up working and then out to do some miles. I'm pretty tired...8 -
Thank-you everyone!!
I did get up early enough to run 5.2 before my morning of meetings!
I really wanted to do it in 52 minutes or less and knowing that doing my usual route close to home has killer hill coming back which is no fun, especially at the end plus the heat, I decided to cheat and do it on the treadmill. I set it at 10:00 min miles and off I went. Half through I got brave, was feeling good and increased the speed. I ended up finishing in 50:38!
Helps that the AC was on too, ha!
121.32 so far this month. May or may not run tomorrow. On to July!
@mbaker566 What a cutie!
@shanaber Yes hoping all is well
@Avidkeo, I did wear compression socks a couple times when I had my calf pull. It "felt" like it helped. I also used KT Tape...

@mbaker566 Cute foster. I don't think I could foster either @shanaber . Like you, I would want to keep them all.

I planned to get my run done early before going to work, but it didn't happen. I headed out about 4 pm and it didn't feel that bad out. Only 48% humidity it said. But it was sunny and soon felt plenty hot. I spent the whole run talking myself out of turning around or stopping altogether. I was fairly successful, in that at least I got a good loop done. I went through part of a cemetary to try for more shade and this gal was hanging out there too, right off the path. I walked quietly and slowly past on the far side of the path and she kept her eyes on me but didn't run away - and looked like she was going to follow me for a little bit.8 -
Today was an odd day. I sort of had it planned out, but that went out the window. I have noticed lately that I am getting really grumpy when things don't go my way. I need to figure out how to deal a little better. Mom and dad are noticing too. Yikes. I thought I was hiding it better.
Anyway, I got some paperwork ready and took for my cousin to sign, and then faxed them to the VA. Hopefully that will get him some extra money to help pay for the assisted living. When I got home, my parents and a neighbor were cutting down some dead trees along the edge of my driveway. That needed to be done, and I'm grateful, but it wasn't something I had planned on happening today. So, I came home, ate a small lunch, and went down to help them finish up what they were going to do today.
By then, it was 3:30, 81°F, with 70% humidity. I knew if I didn't go ahead and get my run in, I wouldn't do it. Since it was hot and humid, I decided to just do 30 minutes at an easy pace. It was slow, but at least I did something. I ran 2.25 miles and walked 1.25.

Hi all, belated birthday wishes @hamsterwheel6! Sending healing thoughts to those with injuries right now. Scary to read about the runners being hit by cars @skippygirlsmom. Wishing your friend better.
I did 6 miles yesterday to close out June a little over goal. The heatwave of last eek has cleared and it was pretty breezy so a comfortable temperature. Running uphill into the wind isn’t my favourite though!
See you in July!

Alas, I've been very lax at checking in. But not so lax in actually doing the running, thankfully. I've smashed it for June! Nothing much else to report, except I'm getting a little tired of my current running routes. Alas, there's nowhere else safe at the moment to run, as the trails around the river are too narrow and busy to safely social distance. Guess I have to suck it up!
Goals for the year:
1. Get back down to a decent running weight (currently set at 160lb)
2. Run a sub-60 minute 10K
3. Run a race this year, hopefully.5 -

You've had a lot of curve balls thrown your way lately. Give yourself some slack and take some deep breathes when all else fails!3 -
Hi everyone! I'm happy to announce you that I completed my challenge today and it was amazing.
I couldn't believe I was running that much after months of inactivity. I was surprised I reached my original goal of 90km/56mi, I had to count my km's again to see if I wasn't mistaken. Next month I'll just pick 90kms as goal and try to beat it.
I'm sorry to hear that some of you had a hard time running this month I hope you have more opportunities to run in July. Good luck my fellow runners!

Ending June just short of my running goal of 50 miles - got 48. If I count walking miles I got 95. So, considering my knee has been forcing me to cut back, not too bad. I did respectably on the 2 week run for my timed mile and on the 5k.
Tomorrow is the final run for the timed mile challenge and I expect it to be pretty dismal. The weather is supposed to be similar to today but slightly warmer and wetter, and today when I stepped outside at dawn it was like stepping into a bathtub - warm and wet. I don’t foresee setting a PR in these conditions, especially since I haven’t been training due to the sore knee! However, thanks to needing to get some chores done, I have had several days off, so my knee will be as good as it can be. We’ll just have to see!4 -
@hamsterwheel6 Happy belated birthday! We are the same age now!0

@katharmonic Great job on getting your run in in the heat of the day. Love the deer picture. I'm surprised it didn't run away.
@Tramboman Glad your back is better.
Thanks @Teresa502 . I really thought I had taken those deep breaths and was fine with the changes to yesterday, so was surprised when mom and dad mentioned it. I think once I get my cousin settled in the assisted living in a couple of weeks things will calm down. At least that is my hope.
Congratulations to everyone who met their goals this month! Hugs to those who had issues that prevented you from running as much as planned.2 -
I fell short of my goal by about 6 miles. My midwife told me it was time to stop and go down to walking.
The not being able to run or lift has gotten me pretty depressed. I don't know if its the sudden lack of exercise endorphins or what. I know I could be outside walking but I just can't motivate myself to. The heat/humidity doesn't help. It's just...not the same. I come home from work and I have absolutely no motivation. All I want to do is curl into a ball and sleep8 -

I remember when I didn't want to do something good for me, I'd tell myself I was doing it for the baby. So, take that baby out for a walk, show him/her all the world and let him/her hear the birdies sing. Take every moment you have with that little one.

I ran 6.6 miles this morning to finish out June over my goal of 100 miles and just hitting my stretch goal of 200 KM. I felt really good about the run too. When I got up this morning at 5 am my weather app said it was 80°F feels like 85°F with 95% humidity and a dew point of 77°. So I was expecting a hot and sweaty run and that is definitely what I got. The wind was about 14 mph which was sort of nice and sort of too much at the same time. I tried not to worry about my pace and ended up with an average pace of 10:53/mi. I like to keep my runs under 11/mi so I was happy with that. I ran through some water sprinklers at the court house. The only problem with that was I was only a little over 1 mile into my run. But I carried water with me and stopped for a drink around 4 miles and poured some on the back of my neck and that helped too. I didn't see any bunnies today, but I did see a deer. The weather should be about the same for the rest of the week. Hopefully my runs will be nice in spite of it. Congrats to all who met their June goals and if you didn't, that's ok there is always July!

@quilteryoyo hang in there! You've had a lot of stressful things to deal with. Hopefully it will calm down. Good job getting a run/walk done. That always helps me, even if it's not a great one.
@tramboman good to hear your back is doing better!
@brittanystebbins95 you did a great job running this month. Give yourself a huge break, and hope you can enjoy some walking and relaxing now.
@kgirlhart good job on your run this morning and meeting your monthly goal!
@coolblackcat and @hmaddpear congrats on a great month of running to both of you! See you in the July thread.

Finished up June with another 3-miler (ish). I just beat out the rain, which was almost too bad because it felt good when it started sprinkling right at the end. If I had known I was going to be at 124.5 I would have gone for that extra .5 miles to get to 125.
I exceeded my conservative goal of 120 miles for June. I also had 95 miles walking, so total mileage of 219. Quite a bit down from last month, but that was an anomaly.
I'm at 732 miles for the year running and 1067 total for running and walking. Not bad at the halfway point of the year.4 -
@kgirlhart Glad you had a nice run, despite those conditions. Great job on hitting your stretch goal for the month!
@katharmonic Too bad you didn't get rained on. Great job in exceeding your goal and excellent numbers for the year so far.1
