Rode the recumbent bike today. The plan for tomorrow is to do a body pump DVD
Amber – when I have a need for chocolate, I always have some kisses or Dove or even a chocolate meringue cookie. I also have found that dark chocolate satisfies me more than milk chocolate
Went to Food Lion early this morning and got Vince ice cream. Didn’t realize they sold a low sodium bacon so got that and a few other things
Making more yogurt now. I like to really drain it and then make more pops. We’re running low
Sarah NZ – welcome to a great group
SuziQ – great advice to Allie
Allie – be sure to check out nursing homes/assisted living places in FL, too. You’d be very good there.
Pip – great news!
Will ice the cake I made last night for Steve and then off to the pool

We have agreed to finally think about getting the living room redecorated. Now the EXTREMELY difficult business of choosing paint colours. I've been browsing the internet for ideas, but it's difficult when there are two of us with different ideas. We will probably end up with something 'safe' instead of something more adventurous. DH doesn't read decorating magazines. I read at least two a week! We can't afford new furniture, so it's a compromise at the best of times. I have to admit that I find it extremely hard to make decisions, even for myself.
Well, at least the subject has been broached. I can't see it ending well.

Allie: Friends of ours moved to The Villages in Florida to be near their daughter. They rented an apartment for awhile to see how they liked it. They loved it & put their home in Washington up for sale. They’re still happy there and have avoided storm damage though several hurricanes. While you’re in Florida I hope you’ll take a look there.

Heather- the mister thinks he has an opinion on decorating, but we don’t have the same taste. So I gave up trying and our home is pieced together like a bachelor pad. We have never even had a headboard. I just decided I’d rather spend the money on travel than furniture. That said, we really need to paint the house inside and out and I usually convince him to see my way on paint colors.

Immunization . I completely believe in preventing rather that reacting. I have the smallpox scar and remember the sugar cubes polio vaccine. I’ve had the hepatitis shots when working at the hospital in the late 90’s early 2000’s. I’ve had flu shots every year since starting work there in 1997. I’ve had 3 different shingles vaccines, and pneumonia vaccine too. So when COVID come available I will get that too!
Fireworks no legal fireworks and Yearly Alien Festival canceled for here in Roswell. It was quiet here last night but we and rangers were prepared for problems. Thankfully nothing much happened. Only a couple who decided the closed signs and no trespassing signs didn’t apply to them because they were from out of town, and went swimming. DH caught them and made them leave.
Sunset and moon rise last night.

Heather - I am the safe one in our relationship. I have been thinking of painting our kitchen/dining area and living room. I looked at some paint chips the other day and couldn’t see anything I really liked. Until I do I’ll just leave it as is. I have a lot of other ideas too, but have more priorities before we can do the fun stuff.4

WELCOME NEWBIES!
Barbie I forgot to thank you for starting July! I have not been noticing what month it is…or date…or day of the week. I write it down every day, but still cannot remember.
Viv Did it go by slowly? I am not sure it was ever here? Sometimes this year seems to have been forever, and other times it seems like one very long day.
Lisa Levi and Daddy are adorable!!
Kelly I want to go to your day care and play in the mud and eat watermelon!!
SuzyQ Congrats on the loss! You are doing so well during quarantine!
Machka I love your post from the morning of the 1st. So much great inspiration!
Carla Sorry you had to wait to see your new G-babies! So glad you are getting to see them now!
Rita Looks like that lizard could do some damage with his tail! I miss seeing the lizards everywhere when I lived in Florida.
Carol Hope the spider bite didn’t react anymore. Some of those can get nasty! Glad the stinging calmed down!
Heather Your diet is so much different than anything I’ve had here. Is UK food that much different than US? Or are you just a really great cook… (I know you are from things you have made).
Karen Thank you for looking up Canada Day for me. I was not remembering the origins of it.
Debby We used to have lots of those black snakes in our yard in Florida. They were usually 5’ or longer. I would think it would startle you when you have poisonous ones around, too!
Cheri So glad your tx are finished!! Sorry to hear that the hormone replacement is giving you icky side effects. Hope those pass soon! If figures that one would be weight gain when you are trying so hard to lose!
Cathy Adorable Grands!!
Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th! I huddled up with a glass of wine trying to ignore that neighbors on either side were shooting some really big illegal fireworks very close to our trees and house. I have some PTSD, and fireworks in an uncontrolled setting are not my favorite. Fortunately, my puppy did okay with them and we spent the evening together. DH was around off and on (although he chose to watch a violent TV show so the combination was not any better).
I love seeing everyone's pictures, whether family or beauty around you...it makes the quarantine much more bearable!
Occasionally, I catch her when she's not smiling...lol:

Afternoon ladies
Katla- yes the villages is a huge senior community in the middle of the state ,it has its own, police, fire depts, grocery stores. Etc.... nowhere unfortunately near the ocean..and thats where i want to be...ive been going Sanibel for years and the last time was when i was there in Dec of 2017....thats when you know what hit the fan and was my last trip to Florida...
I am writing down a list of pros and cons and will once i go there again see if it will really be what I want.

Luci - There isn't really one diet in the UK, as there isn't in the US. It all depends on cash, class and region. In the past we had a reputation for dull food, but times have changed. I cook every day from scratch. That is unusual I think.

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday- Fireworks finally stopped about 3AM- they were HUGE and all around us, including over the trees that hang over our back fence- a little unnerving to hear the neighbors telling his buddies "get some water, get more water" then" you know you never put those things back in paper bags". They were shooting off ones around here that are just like what the big shows use- it was crazy- poor animals were really scared.
Church this morning by myself- husband still not feeling good(felt good yesterday but said he wasn't feeling good again this morning- swollen uvula- the doctor told him Wed. she is pretty sure not Covid but testing just to be sure- first date available is this coming Tues.- that is his only symptom so they don't think it is that-
Scale finally moved, only a little over half a pound but better than staying in place. 139.9
Need to get back to making more masks after I figure out lunch for the two of us- He wants Taco Bell so may take a run over there for him. Made him another mask and again he says it is ok but....(like he has said with the other three or four versions I have made him.
Have a great rest of your Sunday.
Debbie

I have known you ladies for years! You helped me thru the rough patches of my husband's illness, and I vented to you about my fears of driving from when we lived on the Oregon coast to Portland OHSU. You have helped me thru my many bouts of missing my Navy sons, and grandbaby. I consider y'all my sisters!💖 I appreciate you more than you'll ever know.

I played with clippers! I stopped before I shaved my scalp half though. Feels really wonderful!

Son is all better. Today making pinto bean soup, and chicken soup with cabbage, wild rice, and baby potatoes. Still simmering the pinto bean soup until the ham hocks decide to release the meat.👍

Allie: I love your pros and cons list. It makes so much sense. Visiting Sanibel personally makes good sense, too. It will help you be confident about your final decision.
Rebecca: Back-at-cha. How do you manage to clip the hair behind the back of your own head? Mirrors? Help from DH???

Machka-I had deviated septum surgery many years ago, like 18 or so I think. One of best things I have ever done. Once packing was out, I discovered how wonderful breathing through nose is and how much I wasn't doing that. Also curtailed sinus infections. I am sure that have advanced since then. It was miserable or a week or so (because I could only breathe through mouth). I couldn't do any lifting, etc., mainly lazed around. Not too bad of a recovery though.
Got first coat of paint on doorframes. After spending so much time in hallway, I kept noticing how down right filthy the louvers for the whole house fan is. It's easy to avoid looking at things on the ceiling. To be honest, can't remember the last time it was cleaned, but lots of grime, etc. Decided to see what I could do about that. After trying a couple of things, dawn seems to do the best job. When I lifted louvers to get edges, some old shingles debris from when I had my roof replaced came showering down. Got all of that out, got the worst of the dirt. It is old but entirely functional. I think when it cools down a bit (opening louvers lets heat in from attic), I will put some white metal paint on them. The size I have would be several hundred dollars to replace. They function well, but they are original to the house, or close to it! Looks much better already. Will give them another wash later in week to see if more will come off. Standing on a ladder and cleaning overhead is a bit tougher than it once was so I will be sensible and work in smaller chunks of time.
Illegal fireworks around here two nights in a row--not just the little stuff you let off with your kids--real fireworks. I'm not so much about the illegality of it as how late they go--if they shot them off at 9 and were done 30 minutes later, no problem--but until after 1 am in a residential neighborhood?
Off to clean kitchen, finish hand washing face masks, get ready for work tomorrow. I have decided I do like having office across hall from bathroom and not having share that space with anyone! Definite benefit of working from home.
Have a good evening all,

Allie I lived in Dunedin (north of Clearwater), 3 blocks from the water. It was a great area to live. You might check out the area while you are down there. It has a really nice small town feel and downtown is quite quaint.1
