Yesterday my Sunday morning walking friend canceled the walk because she had a cough and didn't want to upset anyone by coughing as we walked through the neighborhood, so she called instead. I took the call outside and talked to her while I did a quiet weeding job in the back where no one would interrupt us. Later I got a call from my friend whose lifelong smoking husband is in the hospital with pneumonia and I weeded another section while talking to her. In the afternoon I took a nap to try to recapture the lost sleep during the fireworks. Happily, no fireworks last night.
Heather, good that your husband was able to apologize and recognize what might be upsetting him. I know that my husband is frequently sad and discouraged by how tired he is and how he's unlikely to ever play golf again.
Sharon, I love your new cat, Bella.
We're planning to go to the grocery store on Wednesday (last visit was June 11) and I find myself looking forward to it like one might anticipate a vacation.

Another hot day here. It is summer in Texas after all. I cannot tolerate the heat anymore.
I have turned to Leslie Sansone Walk at Home for my workouts. Have a few of her DVDs but mostly use what she has on YouTube.
Back to the dentist today. I've had a crown fall out 3 times. She ordered a new one. Feel ok with them as they are all well covered with masks and such. You call from parking lot. They tell you if a room has been sanitizer and then you go in.
Have a good Monday my friends!

I hope you all had a good holiday weekend. My weekend was really hard. I had to put my dog down this weekend and my youngest son is so mad at me he told me he was done with me. I know he's just angry and I'm the easiest to lash out on but it doesn't make it hurt any less.
I'm hoping to keep the emotion out of my eating but could definitely use some positive vibes.
RIP Bruschi...you were a good dog and I thank you for what you brought to our lives....13 -
I am 55 years old, 5' 1" and on May 26 weighed 180 pounds when I got on the scale. I started checking in on MFP every day, checking portion sizes and keeping track of calories and also added exercise. I walk most days for an hour in my neighborhood. I am at 166.7 as of this morning. I have never participated in a group like this one. Thanks for letting me share.8

Kelcey ~ My heart goes out to you. I am still crying over the loss of our Pom who we had to put down in March.
Ana ~ Welcome and what a good start you have made in losing weight.
Carol in GA2 -
Have Homer over and both the boys are relaxing.. have laundry in and will put in the dryer soon..
Have to pick up Dan from and drop him off at noon..
I am working on the pros and cons list.. so far the pros far outway the cons lol.2 -
Machka: I can see that you’re looking forward to feeling better, but I can’t imagine you lying around for very long without wanting to do this or that. I hope things go exceedingly well and you are able to get enough rest without feeling trapped in the bed.
Karen in VT: Watching wildlife is a delight. We have river otters in our area and they look similar to your photo, but I think they’re quite a bit bigger. Karen’s idea of minks makes sense. I haven’t seen minks here, but I have seen them in the San Juan islands of Washington State. :flowerforyou:
Barbie: We visit the grocery stores here in town frequently, but there are no Costco stores near us. We would have to travel from our town with few Covid cases to Beaverton or Hillsboro with many. We’re staying here. :ohwell:
Kelceybyers: I am sorry you had to put your dog down. We’re hoping that we won’t have to do that for our dog any time soon, but it is really a kindness when an animal has pain.
There is a yoga class available this evening and I would like to go, but DH is not willing for me to go into the fitness club. He would much prefer that I go out to the stable. I would like to do both. I’ll talk with him about it.

Sharon in Seattle I thought about aliens saying ENOUGH people you are killing the Earth. Let’s give it a rest! Lol! Another option.... the ice shelf is melting in Siberia and all kinds of ancient creatures (aliens?) are being uncovered. Viruses can reanimate after freezing!

"Get to do"s and "chose well"sChose well: Saturday: cleaning mins: 14 Dining Room done!, Guest Bth 18 done!, Master Bath 6/18. Sunday transplanted pineapple, melons, started new cukes, peppers.Jumpback July
Bonus: Saturday:18 mins Kitchen, 3 loads laundry. called PC guy about wine spill, another load of laundry.
Get to do: BB&B, brine chicken and rotisserie, invest 28 mins Master Bath, carry over cleaning mins: 30 Bedrooms, 20 mins Office, 10 Living Rm; drop laptop off at PC guy and ask about mic/speaker, pickup tire when ready, BiMart, Grocery Outlet or Freddie’s, practice new dances (Evergreen, Larger than Life, Here I Go Again/Mama Mia, Real Deal, Get it Right; next week final? Follow up call for Joe’s Dr. appointment, transplant bean, make garlic almonds for Barb and Dan; prep potato area and raised beds for beets, carrots, parsley root, parsnips, radishes and sow; finish weeding drive, continue weeding flower bed, mulch flowerbed; Freddie’s for complete series TDAP <$48, get Shingrix vaccine. Reward: inventory seeds, plan fall cool season garden, order replenishments.
4: do something to overcome a worry: Took BP with large cuff, hurt less, better numbers.
5: avoid saying “must/should” not so well. I will be more careful around the stove, be mindful of one task at a time.
6: perspective/bigger picture: Now we REALLY know what propane smells like.
MIA the past few days, not my best nor most productive. Flat tire so couldn’t go to church, livestreaming service spilled communion wine onto laptop, worst was knocking knob when cleaning beside stove, reached behind to turn off, but because I was backward, turned it all the way on. Didn’t notice as the knobs look the same off as on max. Thankful Joe figured it out before the house blew up. Also thankful he didn’t give me much hell, joking “That’s what happens when you clean the house. Don’t do it!”
Lisa “fried eggs and zucchini” 30 books and “irony all over it” amen, sister, amen. love your “trust yourself” advice to Allie. Envy both your baking center and the window
Heather, could your DH just be trying to protect you? I used to angrily resist what I percieved as Joe telling me what to do. “Not even my Father could talk to me that way!” Until our counsellor explained to me that Joe was trying to protect me, and explained to Joe to couch his concern in suggestions rather than marching orders… So glad you had supportive ears and shoulders (other than Johnny’s) to get you through the past few days
Barbie what you said to Heather and allie and especially about big zucchini “Back to work” ROTFLMAO!
Margaret love hearing about Drew and admire your compassion for Busteena. “grumpy old men”
Karen in VA maybe that zucchini could be a summertime Jack o’ lantern?
Pip love Bette! 39 showings in 48 hours? WOWOW!
Allie are there alligators/crocs on Sanbel Island? I’d be afraid for Alfie. Hating winter, we moved to the Oregon coast. Not as warm as Florida but fewer bugs and no fast swimming dinosaurs with big teeth. Safe travels!
Carol hope your DIL and grands didn’t catch anything at the beach. SMH at the grands’ other grammie, what was she thinking?
Rita love “sitting with a native” is that you or your DH’s sense of humor?
Tracey “an idea for an upgrade in our kitchen that I’ll float by him and then wait for him to think it was his idea in the first place.”sound strategy, good luck!
Sharon booster polio shot? Really?!? Don’t think the MMR vaccine was available when I was a child, remember having the “measles” not sure if it was “German measles or the plain ol’ kind.
Evelyn thank you so much for understanding about Joe and Tumble. Have taken Michele’s suggestion and started clicker training both Tumble and Shadow (separately of course). Yesterday I threaded a leash through the handle of another leach and tied the second around my waist (to break the angry arm connection). Both walked nicely around our flat gravel parking area and got click/treated when they were in position and looked at me. Today I may try taking Shadow down the drive a little but too afraid Tubmble would pull me off my feet so will just practice with her on the parking area a gain… or maybe in the front yard where the slope is less.
Debbie in Napa love the baby pics.
Karen in VT con VERY gratulations on your June accomplishment, and longest walk Thursday. Please don’t let the scale steal your mojo, check your measurements, pat yourself on the back and keep on!
Ginny I’ve been toying with the notion of replacing some of the quarter round trim in the bathroom, but hesitate because I’m lazy, don’t have good eye/hand coordination nor fixit skills. I envy you your mitre saw/cuts successes!
Machka my nightstand looks like that!
Kate in UK had to google to learn your borlotti beans and my cranberry beans are the same. “...divided by a common language”
Karen in VA Phoenix in his magic shoes!
Welcome @ksfessler88 Kate in VA, @LateStarter2018 Sarah in NZ
Happy place after that first sip of tea, stepping out onto the deck and breathing in the forest scents, sights and sounds… aaahhh!
Only through pg 15 but Joe’s gone to town so it’s my chance to start cleaning… mindfully!
Lighter, lovelies!

Barbara,
DH frequently says “you should...”’ It irritates the dickens out of me. I come from a long line of advice givers. When I catch myself offering uninvited advice I am embarrassed. I have a long way to go to in managing to keep my opinion to myself. 😳2 -
Barbara~oregon coast , gators not much on the beaches, lagoons etc.... yes bugs yes, but beaches and birds ohhhh yes and thats what im looking forward to...3

DH rarely gives advice, but he is argumentative. He knows it is a failing, but he can't help himself. He says it is because he was trained to hold his own in a discussion at Oxford University. His first wife hated his arguing. Our bust up was because I was putting forward an opinion about the way the covid crisis was handled and he disagrees with me. He is fed up with me stating my controversial opinion. It quickly got out of hand. We were in the exercise room at the time.
Luckily all is better now. He obviously is trying hard to be more amenable. This morning we had a long discussion in bed about the early church. I am reading my umpteenth book about the subject, it is one of my areas of special interest. This one is called Dominion.
We have a lot of intellectual discussions in bed. Having our morning cup of tea. Occasionally he gets the huff and sometimes I blow up if he is nitpicking too much. Better than being bored though. The other time we disagree is when we are listening to the radio during our exercises. That's what set us off this time. I agreed with the speaker and he didn't. I'm right, of course.
I did manage to let it ride for the rest of the day and let him sulk.
This morning he was over it .
Did my writing this morning.

Hi all! Happy Monday!
Just weighed in - gained another pound and a half over the past week. DH says it’s our scale - but I’m not so sure. Weighed in at the docs office last week and was 2 pounds more than my scale (granted that was fully clothed) - but it seemed about right. I’m currently at 1300 calories a day (with one or two cheat meals thrown in) - I’d really prefer not having to go back to 1200. Maybe I need to get on the treadmill twice a day!
Made a new dish for the week - Baked Ramja with pickled onion. Looks so pretty!3 -
I am 73 and have been working out for over 20 years. Now that I'm stuck at home, I alternate 3 different workouts. I also go hiking once a week. I started out at 129. My goal is 115. I was down to 124, but this week I gained a pound and I don't know why. I am eating between 900 and 100 calories a day. I am 5' tall.
I know the sedentary days are not helping, but don't know why I have gained. Any ideas would be helpful.4 -

How hot and humid is it? You can retain more water depending on the weather. Stay moving as much as you can to will help.0 -

I am so sorry for you loss I know it wasn't easy. You just didn't want Bruschi to suffer any longer. Your right son is taking his pain out on you. Big (((HUG))) to you!1 -
Barbara- your happy place sounds perfect. Any day starting with a sip of tea is a good one. That is how I always start my day, using my favorite mug.
Thanks for the compliment on the baby pictures- Love when they were little- went by so fast.2 -

A few ladies here suggested to me to switch things up a bit and see what works for you.
I kept my calories at 1000 but added in just a little extra exercise and the scale finally moved. Hoping to continue. 15lbs to goal.1 -
AMBER ~ Congrats on all the weight you have lost.
WELCOME to all the new faces! You will like it here.
Carol in GA2 -
Analaurel98: Welcome!
KelceyByers: I’m so sorry you had to make a hard choice and let your dog rest in peace.
Rita: Have you named your new friend?
Heather: I love to exercise to music, especially classical or 1960’s or 70’s. We have our trykes on trainers in the garage and I may choose to use mine today. We have a good music system to enjoy out there. I’ve got a need to move and reduce stress.
Our son called today and we had a great visit with him. It was good to hear his voice.

A pound seems to me quite within the water/salt/ bowel normal fluctuations . Even so, it is very annoying. I know I would be sctraching my head too. I also know that my body responds to two glasses of wine and to a restaurant meal that way and the extra pound disappears after a day. Drink lots of water for a day or so..4 -
Did a DVD of weights with the barbell today. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Cathe Friedrich Fitness Cross Fire DVD
Sarah Israel – congrats on that streak! Be sure to check it, MFP always seems to set me back to 0 days. Oh well…I know that I logged and that’s what’s important
Cheri – maybe they have a stronger bonding material for your crown?
The guy with the corn called. It’s in. I don’t know if I have room in my freezer for all that I want so I asked him if I could get 2 bags now and the other one in a few weeks. Cooking purple potatoes, will try them in the freezer. He didn't think the corn would be in in a couple of weeks. Well, if I miss out, I miss out. That's life
Kelcey – I’m so very sorry.
Analure – welcome
The corn I like came in. The farmer harvested it this morning and I’m right now cooking the last of it. Got 120 ears. I would like to have gotten more, but I honestly don’t have room in my freezer. Wish I did. Vince actually helped shuck the corn. Do you know this was the first time he’d ever shucked corn! The guy really lived a deprived childhood. He’d never heard of Jersey tomatoes until he married me!
Steve came here. We’re going to have snow crab legs for dinner tonight and (what else?) corn. I’ll probably give him some of the corn to take home.
Tomorrow he’s going to make some sort of pork schnitzel. I understand it’s fried. Well, I’ll have some to be nice.
Allie – good to hear that the pros outweigh the cons! We’re rooting for you
Rita – love all your photos
Claresbubb – welcome, you’re doing great with your exercising. Sometimes no matter what we do, sometimes our bodies don’t want to go below a certain weight.
