@rheddmobile love the comics! You will really need to make a coffee table book out of them.1

@PastorVincent I think you did a great job with the picture. The comet hasn't left us yet, has it? I thought I had until the 25th to get out and see it.1

Speaking of random health problems in the middle of a pandemic... I was working on rusty fence and noticed blood pouring from my arm. I decided I really was not a fan of that. Asked my wife to call the doc and find out how long it has been since I had a tentus shot.
They were like "Umm we have like 2 decades of records and you have never had one that we know of, so you better get in here."
So I guess I should go in and get a shot. Yay.5 -

We do but it is getting dimmer now and we have been under clouds ever day since that shot. I live near Pittsburgh which competes with Seatle for most rainy days. Odds are not in my favor.1 -
Well, turns out the treadmill that I was going to look at was 14 years old 😱
So the search continues...
Well dog gone it. DH noticed that Sam's has them (in the flyer). I bet you find one if you widen the distance, or just order and wait... good luck again.
ETA you check out facebook marketplace maybe? https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2714777575420318/ meh, maybe? or https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/107925612568471/search?query=treadmill

Beautiful shot! We have so much light pollution here that we’re lucky to see major stars unless we head out to my mom’s place in the country. I went out looking for Neowise the other morning when I was up at 4 am and it was supposed to be visible in the morning, and it was like, “oh, this is a clear night, I can actually see part of the Big Dipper!” Just absurd, on an average clear night maybe 20 stars visible.
One nice thing about light pollution though, unlike regular pollution, it takes no time at all to get rid of it. All it would take is for everyone to turn their lights off and then, bam, fixed.1 -
So I finally made it to the end of the hardest academic year (teacher) of my life on Friday. The year started with a massive panic over an expected government inspection, then I had major surgery, then no sooner had I got back into things than the C word hit! There has been so much hard work and so much anxiety. Predictably I hit a wall this weekend and took a much needed rest!
Less predictable was the ending of a 5 year relationship yesterday. I’m devastated and didn’t eat or sleep much. So despite an unprecedented 3 whole rest days (!) today was a terrible run. Two near falls, slow, hot and uncomfortable. I didn’t realise sadness would have such an effect 😔
Going to try and stay on track with fitness over this summer break but also give myself a bit of grace and kindness too.
Hope everyone is well and I’ll catch up on everything soon.

@hmaddpear I wouldn’t stress too much about slowing down. Even if it isn’t super hot there, any increase in temps will have an impact. Also, I see you have a race scheduled in Lincoln. Hubby previously did some work at Waddington, and I visited him while he stayed in Lincoln. Such a cool (and hilly) town.
@PastorVincent Great job catching a shot of the comet! I’ve been trying to get a look at it, but the trees around my house have been in the way, and I have not been motivated enough to drive elsewhere to try to see it. 🤣
@Faebert So sorry for what you’re going through. Breakups are hard.2 -
Got in a slow 3+ miles last night. It was 96 degrees at sunset, so I didn’t push too hard. My mom called when I was walking in and scolded me for being out in the heat. Feels funny when your parent gets onto you and you’re almost 40...😂5

Cut down the trees then. Seems like the obvious solution.
1 -
@Faebert So sorry about your breakup. Hugs to you. Glad you don't have to deal with school on top of that right now.
@marisap2010 I have the same issue with the trees, I'm sure. I haven't been out to try to see it yet. My procrastination is going to mean I miss the opportunity. Funny about your mom. My parents are the same way. They love us and that's a good thing.2 -
@Faebert ((hugs)). For me the sadness was always the loss of the potential relationship. I grieved for the relationship it wasn’t. I wish you speedy emotional healing and that you find comfort and growth in the person you are becoming. you seem like a wonderful person. It’s good you are taking care of you. Lean on us as you need. (Especially over in the nutritional thread, it might need to renamed “runners emotional support group, how not to use food as a coping mechanism ”).5

I think it turned out well.
Wonder what my monthly goal will be when it comes back...
We all will be so highly evolved that we will no longer need cars. We will just sprint everywhere, even across star systems.
Or we will be dead. One of the two is pretty likely.
I'm thinking the latter...2 -

@faebert Wow, you have had a really tough year! But is shows how strong and resilient you are. Big hugs for you now, but based on your history, I know you'll get through it and life will be better.
@Elise4270 thanks again for the tips! Facebook marketplace didn't even cross my mind. Will check it out!!
6.5 hot miles this morning. 94% humidty, barely a breeze. Such a suckfest. But it felt good to get out this morning. I needed that.

213 Posts Behind!
I had a long draft written out last week to respond to each of you - suffice it to say, work got busy and I never was able to post.
I did the Aravaipa Stunner Virtual 93k last week! Actually, i ran over 60 miles and a 93K is just over 57. So my total time was over 14 hours but I am happy with that.
Saturday, I woke up and really really thought a 50k would be around or just over 25 miles and I thought, "sure, I can do that." I checked to verify and it was over 31 miles. I had to choose between doing less, not doing anything, or just going for it. I went for it.
SO on Saturday, I ran my first Marathon AND my first Ultra and it took just eight hours, one minute, and two seconds. I was ELATED. The 15.5 miles on Sunday felt like death, but it got done.
I have been resting for one whole day. I am a firm believer in active recovery, but I will continue to rest this evening and stretch and EAT and SLEEP and then I'll get back to lifting and running tomorrow evening.
Since I'm obviously a psychopath, I signed up for their virtual Vertigo run, which is 119k challenge. So the ultra that week will be just over 32 miles.
Oh! One other cool thing that happened was that on Saturday, after I had just been done not even an hour, I got an invite to be on Aravaipa's zoom call, live. That was really fun, except I think I sounded insane - I had just been running for eight hours, so hopefully they understand.
@Faebert I agree with @Scott6255 - you are an overcomer. You are strong. You can do hard things! I believe in you! Also, if it is any consolation at all - my five year relationship/ engagement ended a week after Valentine's Day this year. I completely understand. And I am so sorry.
@Tramboman Agree - we are all going to be dead.
To everyone I could not/ did not mention specifically: You are STRONG. You are brave. You are doing amazing things and I hope you are so proud of yourselves.
Oh guess what else -
I've been ranting at all of you for 371 days! Happy Anniversary! Love you to the moon!

PastorVincent wrote: »SUNDAY UPDATE - Pastor Vincent vs Boston!
For those new/or with short memories I recently hired a coach to help me run faster - with the original goal of a BQ in 2021 (thanks to all the mess around COVID-19 and etc, this will probably be delayed but still a future goal). It is probably an unrealistic goal, but I am not getting any younger, so going for it. Several people asked to be updated on what the coach has in for me so I post each week what the coach's plan was, and what I actually did.
So here we go:
DAY :::: PLAN :::: ACTUAL
Monday :::: 6x3 mins @ Lactate Threshold :::: Worked late
Tuesday :::: Rest Day ::::: 2miles warmup, 6x3mins, 3 miles cool down
Wednesday :::: Rest :::: 11 miles
Thursday :::: 10 miles :::: 10 miles
Friday :::: Rest Day ::::: 15 miles
Saturday ::::: 12 miles :::: More work on greenhouse
Sunday ::::: 6 miles ::::: Wimped out
Total Miles: 45 running out of 36 planned
This was my first week back to training after injury. Was surprised at the low (36) miles, but my next actual race is the 10 miler in November (assuming it happens) so I have no ultras to train for.
Today was supposed to be easy 6 miles, but the temps were pushing into triple digits and there were thunderstorms on the radar with "dangerous winds and hail" so I wimped out and ate cookies instead. I think that is a win really.
I AM TELLING YOU! YOU GOT THIS!0 -

I ran 6 miles this morning. It's still summer, but it wasn't as hot as it was last week so it wasn't terrible weather-wise. I really enjoy my early morning runs. It's surprising to me too since I was never a morning person. But I am looking forward to fall and the temps being a little cooler.
I had my yearly exam and mammogram last week and while for the most part everything went well I am going to have to go in next week for a diagnostic mammogram. I have had to do them before and so I feel like it is probably nothing, just another "we'll keep an eye on it and do diagnostic mammos every 6 months" , but I'm a little stressed about it so any prayers or good vibes y'all want to send my way would be appreciated.
I got kind of behind on the thread, but there was lots of good stuff and I liked and hugged where appropriate.
@HonuNui I love the turtle picture! I really love all of your snorkeling pictures.
@rheddmobile I also love the comic! You and your husband seem like fun people.
@PastorVincent Cool picture of the comet. I've gone out a few times to try to see it, but it has either been too cloudy or too many trees blocking it.
@faebert So sorry about your breakup and the really tough year. Hang in there! We are here for you!

Hahahahaha yeah, basically. I couldn't formulate entire thoughts into entire sentences because I was reeling over what had just happened - but alas, it was a great time!

@Camaramandy648 I don't think I wanted to do anything for the next week after running my first marathon. I can't even imagine how much longer I'd be out with the extra miles. never gone past 43K personally0 -
