    7/16 116.0 Last month we donated blood and subsequently learned we are slightly anemic. 2 weeks ago the doctor told me to start taking 1 iron tablet a day and to increase my magnesium. Well, there is a battle royals waging in my belly for the last several days and I’m afraid to leave the house - if you get my drift! Today I’m planning on taking nothing but my BP meds and fasting until 4 at least - that’ll be a 24 hour fast. Only black coffee and water.
    7/17 116.0 Three year keto-versary! This WOE has improved my labs each time they have been checked. My blood pressure is down and I’m 51 pounds lighter than I was. Unfortunately, due to COVID I’m not comfortable at the gym where people still don’t wipe down the equipment and cancelled my paid membership yesterday. I can still go as part of my insurance plan but not use the extras.
    7/18 115.5 Yesterday must have been steak day! I see several of us on this thread had steak. We split a T-bone. Back in the day I would have eaten the whole thing by myself-it was just over a pound including the bone. I had a few Brussels sprouts and about a cup of broccoli - OMAD! And we ate “dinner” early - before 3.
    7/19 117.0 We ate at Great Greek yesterday. Delicious temporary weight gain! I always go up after Greek salad and gyro meat. And today we have plans for lunch with neighbors - Chinese take out - haven’t had Chinese in MONTHS! 91 degrees with 10% humidity at 8 AM, going for a high of 112 today.
    7/20 118.5 Neighbor treated us to take out Chinese. Need I say more? This too shall pass. No worries.
    7/21 120.0 A carb filled day of leftovers which are now going in the trash. 4 days of carbs = 4.5 lbs Back on the plan today. I’ve got this!

    07/16 135.2 – such fluctuation !! 8.67 miles walked yesterday. 573 calories in green and all macros in green.
    07/17 135.2 – 7.07 miles walked yesterday, at DS with DGD & DGS#1 (brother of sick DGS) so no control of food preparation, but did try to restrict volume of intake !!
    07/18 135.2 – 9.6 miles walked yesterday, 605 calories in credit and all macros in green. Baby DGS#2 has been transferred to Leeds hospital where liver experts are, they have given a very tiny glimmer of hope, long hard struggle ahead, but he is a fighter! We're all keeping positive for a miracle.
    07/19 135.8 – 10.15 miles walked – guessing that's the bacon at lunch & pizza last night, 304 calories in credit, but 21g carbs over.
    07/20 135.6 – 6.74 miles walked yesterday. 7 calories in credit, 19g carbs & 9g fat over. It's the start of another week, need to start over.
    07/21 135.6 – 11 miles walked yesterday. 508 calories in credit, carbs over.
    07/22 134.8 – 10.63 miles walked yesterday. 716 calories in credit, all macros in green.
    07/23 135.2 – 10.36 miles walked yesterday. 459 calories in credit, carbs 5g over.
    07/24 136.2 – 5.3 miles walked yesterday around Yorkshire Wildlife Park with DGD & family & DGS#1. Didn't log all food! Received diagnose for sick DGS#2, he has a very rare genetic condition of Mitochondria, no cure or treatment, just has to be managed & although it has caused his liver to be severely diseased, he is not quite severe enough to require a transplant; we are still hoping for a miracle as livers can regenerate. There are only 20-30 cases of this rare type of the disease in the world, you have a better chance of winning the lottery! Going into 6th week of hospital admission and no sign of being well enough to be discharged, he will be 6 months old tomorrow.
    07/25 135.4 – 9.24 miles walked yesterday, 390 calories in credit, all other macros in green. Still trying to get my head around Thursdays massive amount of info about DGS, but the fact that there are still no answers to outcome :'( and I am being totally being something out of my control!. 2 pounds gained this round, not really have my heart in it, almost feels like it is a totally minor borderline activity instead of part of my usual routine. I'll catch up with all the post from last 2 days later.

    About me:
    I love learning about food and everything about it; from the way it acts in the body to learning to cook a new recipe. I went to school for nutrition (got my bachelor's) but I didn’t become an RD because it didn’t feel like the path for me. I guess I wanted to keep it as more of an interest instead of a career. I then went into public health to further my education and I currently help medically complex patients by connecting them with community resources to improve their health and life. I enjoy helping family and friends when they ask for advice related to food and nutrition. Plus, it helps me brush up on what I spent so much time learning!

    I’m here because when I’m not paying attention to what I eat, I start to gain and feel uncomfortable in my body. For me that results in frustration and a lot of other emotions. It has also increased my cholesterol in the past (It’s good now as far as I know thanks to diet and exercise). I have a family history of diabetes, heart disease, and all that fun stuff. So, I want to prevent that for myself by getting a hold of my food habits now.

    07/16 116.8 We went for an awesome walk this morning clocking in at 6.52 miles. It was a pretty one too, up the small hill/mountain we have in my city and back home. I just ordered a flat of 12 pints of blueberries for next week in addition to our CSA. I think I’m going to take a couple days off from work to make a bunch of different goodies with them 😊. I need some me time and I think that will be perfect! Dinner tonight will be leftover pesto pasta and chicken with some leftover roasted veggies because they really need to get eaten.
    07/17 116.2 It’s raining this morning, so we went for a 3 mile run in the neighborhood instead of a soccer workout at the fields. Then, I continued after my father in law headed home and did another 3 miles of walking and spurts of running when I got chilly. For breakfast today I plan on making some oatmeal with fresh blueberries, peanut butter, maple syrup, coconut cashews, cinnamon, and a dollop of Skyrr. I love that it’s a little cooler because it will be the perfect day to enjoy a hot bowl of oatmeal! I plan on making pork chops with BBQ sauce with a massive salad for dinner tonight. Still trying to figure out what I want for a snack/lunch in between the two of them. Happy Friday!

    07/18 116.2 Early morning post for me. I’m just relaxing while the house is nice and quiet. I plan on doing a body weight workout and then jump on the spin bike for a bit today. I’m not really sure what I have planned for food today except that I know eating a cucumber feta salad will be in my future because I have a couple cukes to eat before we pick up our csa on Monday. I also have beets and summer squash to cook/ do something with. I have a beet and blueberry muffin recipe that I’m tempted to try from the Run Fast Cook Fast Eat Slow cookbook. I also kind of want to try and make refrigerator pickles with the squash and one of the cucumbers.
    Last night we end up making Pho for dinner because we had some instant mixes back from when I had the flu in February. I added the pork cut into slices, bok choi, onion, and summer squash (My husband wasn’t a fan of the squash). It came out pretty good and it was a nice quick dinner that didn’t break the calorie bank. I didn’t bother tracking it because the two mixes together totaled 500 calories, so I knew I would be okay with us splitting that and the addition of pork weighed less than I had originally expected. I was satisfied hunger wise for the rest of the night and my husband ended up munching on some cashews and a spoonful of peanut butter while we were watching the Rev’s soccer game around 8ish.

    07/19 116.2 Yesterday was an awesome day. I had a non scale victory of being able to do 7 chin ups in a row during my body weight workout. That makes me feel good because I know I’m still gaining muscle while losing weight. That has been one of my goals because I want to have a good amount of muscle so I don’t end up being skinny fat (which isn’t healthy either). I also have sore legs from said body weight and spin bike workout.
    Food wise, I had fun making whole wheat blueberry muffins with the wild blueberries we picked last week. I also made some more granola and refrigerator pickles using CSA zucchini and onion. Breakfast was a blueberry beet smoothie from the cookbook Run Fast Eat Slow (Shalene Flannagan and Elyse Kopecky’s first cookbook) along with a cucumber salad with 2 oz. of feta. Snacks were a blueberry muffin, yogurt with blueberries and honey granola. Dinner was basil fried rice made by my husband. It had ground chicken, Jasmine brown rice, onion, frozen stir fry veggies and a concoction of soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce and one more sauce, I think. Then I had a large apple for dessert. The stir fry was so good! Plus, I love when he cooks dinner 😊.
    Tonight’s dinner will be burgers made with our CSA ground beef which is super lean. I think I read on their website the beef is about 95% lean. We have to use up some Kaiser rolls in the fridge and I was thinking about caramelizing some onions too. I’ll grill up what’s left of the summer squashes from our CSA for a side. If any greens are left well have some salad too.

    07/20 116.8 Just floating in the 116 range for a bit, but I’ll take it 😊. I think I’ve been eating a lot closer to maintenance, but I’m cool with it. I went for a 6ish mile walk this morning. Yesterday was a good day filled with organizing our space and clearing out some stuff. It’s CSA pick up today and looking forward to seeing what we get! Hopefully, it’s a little more lettuce and less funky greens this week. A girl can only eat so many greens that she’s not too fond of to begin with. I love kale, spinach, lettuce, arugula and the Tokyo Bekana (new to me last week), but the more mustardy greens are too strong for me and I just force myself to eat them.

    07/21 116.4 It’s crazy that my legs are still sore from my workout on Saturday. I didn’t even feel like I did a ton of stuff to them. Yesterday was good food wise, for breakfast I had my usual yogurt with fruit and granola and for dinner I made pulled pork in the pressure cooker so it would be easy to throw together after I cleaned my CSA produce. For sides we had sautéed zucchini, beet green stems, and an onion. We also each had a ½ ear of corn on the cob. My wish came true about my CSA pick up this week, we only got 1 bunch of kale and beets with greens on it. The rest were vegetables like corn, cucumbers, squash, onions, scallions, tomato, and a few other things. Have a good Tuesday everyone!

    07/22 116.4 So far today I have dropped my car at the shop to finally get my snow tires taken off (haven’t really driven anywhere since March) and get my all-weather tires put back on. Then, I walked the 3 ½ ish miles home and did some jump roping and sprinting in our yard to get a cardio boost. Dinner was easy last night because it was leftover pulled pork. To switch it up for myself I cooked some quick cooking barley to put the pork on top of and had some left over zucchini with it. The barley helped make the meal nice and filling. I’m not really sure what’s on the agenda for tonight’s dinner but maybe some sort of chicken Thai or Indian curry with lots of veggies.

    07/23 116.4 Food was good yesterday. I made a chickpea salad with raw summer squash, cucumber, tomato, fresh corn, yogurt, fresh dill, fresh basil, Greek yogurt, and red wine vinegar. The fresh corn tied everything together with the subtle sweetness. It was nice and light tasting while still having a creaminess from the yogurt. I’ll definitely be making similar dishes in the future. I finished up the last of the pulled pork for dinner last night. Today, my breakfast will be a smoothie pudding bowl of sorts. We ran out of yogurt last night, so I decided to use my Vital Protein’s gelatin in my smoothie. The gelatin then turns my smoothie into a jello/pudding consistency and increases the volume of it and makes it perfect to top with more fruit and granola. Dinner will be a lot of summer squashes and few tastes of Chinese food that my in laws are ordering.
    I’m excited for tomorrow because my husband and I are going for a day hike up in the mountains on a hopefully secluded with minimal people 😊. It’s been well over a year since we’ve gone for a hike, so it’ll be soo nice to be out in nature like that again.
    So I probably won’t be checking in here until later in the day tomorrow.

    07/25 117.2 Salt and soreness = water weight. Lazy day today because we woke up yesterday at 3:30 AM to get to the trailhead for 6 AM to avoid as many people as possible. It worked out because we only saw 4-5 people during our 6 hour adventure. We were able to enjoy some views in solitude and get in-touch with the mountains again. It felt so good and we lucked out weather wise too. We finished the hike with a stop for fast food before heading down the highway home. The day was awesome and I’m so happy we were able to get up there.
    Today has been good for food so far and I plan on making a cucumber/yogurt salad for lunch and then peanut soba noodles for dinner with extra veggies.
    Ended the round with the same weight as the last day of the previous round. I’ll take it as a win for at least maintaining.
